Major Lazer‘s “The Sound” in 2015, and the two follow up that outing with a fresh single in a similar vein.
“Waist Time” sets a rowdy pace straight from the get go, kicking off with a pounding house beat, pitching rising sirens and deep bass stabs. Moving into the buildup, the two producers introduce a repeating vocoder phrase, pushing the energy to the top as the track transitions into the drop. From there things really take off, as a cacophony of gritty bass wubs intersect the four on the floor drum patterns.
Coinciding with the release of the single, Diplo and AutoErotique have released a music video to go along with it. The concept is simple, featuring a number of female dancers working out their hula hoop skills, though we should mention that it leans on the NSFW side at times.
All in all, “Waist Time” is a solid bass house tune with plenty of energy for the dancefloor crowds, though fans familiar with AutoErotique’s material may question Diplo‘s involvement in the production. Either way it’s worth a listen, so be sure to check it out above.
