Little Fockers is the third installment in the Meet the Parents franchise. I have to say that I thought this one was going to continue the downward spiral that the series had taken after the initial triumph that the original Meet the Parents was. I expected the sequel, Meet the Fockers, to be excellent, with the additions of Dustin Hoffman and Barbara Streisand (who were both fantastic in the movie and had a beautiful chemistry together), but for some reason it just didn't work. Sure there were a few laughs, but like so many sequels, it was unable to match the original's heart. And so now we have the conclusion to the trilogy (hopefully this is in fact a trilogy and they don't go any further with this, which seems unlikely - but you know those Hollywood executives). I am happy to say that I thought Little Fockers recaptures the magic of the first, while adding a little new flavor, thus leaving us with the best one of the series. It has been roughly six years since the conclusion of the second film. Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) and Pam Focker (Teri Polo) now have little twin Fockers running around. Greg has settled into his profession and his role in the family. Jack Byrnes (Robert DeNiro) even appears to finally be accepting Greg. Add to the fact that Jack's health is declining and his other daughter is getting a divorce, well let's just say he needs someone to keep the Byrnes family and legacy running smoothly after he is gone.
It looks like the Vince Carter experiment failed in Orlando. But it appears that another team will give Vinsanity a shot. ESPN is reporting that the Orlando Magic have traded Carter to the Phoenix Suns, along with Marcin Gortat, Mickeal Pietrus, a 2011 first-round pick and cash considerations. In exchange, the Phoenix Suns will give up Hedo Turkoglu, along with Jason Richardson and Earl Clark.
I just had a feeling that this movie would be fun. And fun it was. Oh there are plenty who will differ, and after reading some of the reviews floating around online, it seems disagree they do. And it is true, this movie will probably not win any Oscars, except for maybe cinematography. Haven't seen the original, but The Tourist is actually a remake of a French thriller starring Sophie Marceau and called 'Anthony Zimmer'. But you probably knew that because it seems all movies are remakes now anyway. It is overflowing with cliches, to the point that the plot is more predictable than a Bugs Bunny cartoon. Will Elmer Fudd finally get that pesky wabbit? Doubtful.
Jim Morrison has received a posthumous pardon from the Florida Clemency Board, according to the Wall Street Journal. The lead singer of one of the greatest rock bands of all time, who has been dead for nearly 40 years, had been previously sentenced to six months in jail along with a $500 fine for an incident in a March 1, 1969 show in Miami. At the time authorities claimed he had exposed himself to the crowd.
