Original Judge Dredd Film Coming To Blu-Ray In September

Disney will be releasing the original Judge Dredd film, starring Sylvester Stallone on Blu-Ray in September, to prepare for the reboot titled Dredd, starring Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby.

Walt Disney has plans to release the original Judge Dredd film, starring Sylvester Stallone and Rob Schneider on Blu-Ray this September.

I’ve never actually seen the original Judge Dredd, but I’ve heard some pretty bad things about it. Lionsgate is in charge of the reboot, simply titled Dredd, which stars Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby. I’m assuming Disney wants to capitalize on the theatrical release of the film by releasing Judge Dredd around the same date.

Tech specs haven’t been confirmed yet nor has a release date but we’re expecting it to land on September 18th, 2012.

Will you be buying the original film in preparation for the reboot or will you be going in cold? Personally, I’d like to check out Stallone’s version, if only to gauge my expectations a bit and to familiarize myself with the character.

Judge Dredd should land on shelves on September 18th, 2012 and Dredd hits theaters on September 21st, 2012.
