Christine Chandler, known as Chris-Chan around some circles of the internet, was released from jail on bond March 27, in light of the charges the YouTuber faced in 2021 against her own mother.
On Aug. 1, 2021, Chris-Chan, as she was known among YouTube and 4chan s, was arrested after being charged with incest upon the release of a leaked phone call purporting she had sexual relations with her 79-year-old mother. The phone call was leaked by several online “trolls” who often targeted Chandler — and, consequently, her mother — as the YouTuber dedicated her channel and social media s to documenting the life she shared with her parent.
As s notice the custody status and detail in the jail’s records, criticism condemning the decision made by the Central Virginia Regional Jail is running rampant on social media, as several netizens express their horror at Chandler’s release on bond. In addition to the record status, some s have also pointed out receiving a notification regarding their safety in Virginia.
In the aforementioned nine-minute phone call, a person purported to be Chandler, in graphic detail, shared the alleged assaults on her 79-year-old mother, saying it had been occurring three times a week since late June. Text messages would also, later on, describe the YouTuber’s mother as someone with “memory loss,” which was deemed by s as either derived from her old age, or from trauma.
In addition to the leaked conversations, a few years prior to her arrest, Chandler also itted, via a Facebook post, she exonerated the actions of a mother and son who partook in an incestuous relationship in 2016, claiming that “unless the sex act was abusive, hurtful, or would result in an unwanted birth of a physical or mentally challenged child, I would not judge or persecute the parent and child.” Moreover, the 41-year-old also itted to fantasizing about having intercourse with her mother, as she confessed to having dreams of sexual nature regarding her parent.

Upon her arrest, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia made an official statement the next Monday, announcing Chandler was charged with one count of incest following allegations of “sex crimes against a family member.” While engaging in sexual intercourse with one’s parent is a Class 5 felony in Virginia, and thus punishable by up to 10 years in prison, Chandler was released from jail after just two years incarcerated.
No further reports have been made by any representative of Chandler.
