Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, and Miley Cyrus romantic connections, explained

"We were right 'til we weren't."

When it comes to Liam Hemsworth, the three celebrities may have a complicated past when it comes to romance, though it may not go as deep as some may have assumed based Cyrus’ new music video for the song “Flowers.”

You see, while the song is thought to be about Cyrus’ ex-husband, Hemsworth, it may not be the diss track aimed at Lawrence that some might have thought. Some quick context: Lawrence and Hemsworth shared the screen together for multiple films in the Hunger Games franchise. Meanwhile, Cyrus was with Hemsworth for the majority of the 2010s, while those movies were coming out.

Because of this history between the three of them, fans have speculated that the gold dress Cyrus wears in the “Flowers” music video is actually an intentional call-back to a similar gown Lawrence wore at the Los Angeles premiere of Hunger Games back in 2012, where she shared the red carpet with Hemsworth. Cyrus-heads immediately made the logical leap that this similarity was a way for the musical artist to diss Lawrence, but maybe that is not such a straightforward assumption, after all.

Lawrence finally addresses the issue

When asked in a recent interview whether Lawrence thought Cyrus’ music video was meant to throw shade her way, the Oscar-winner finally addressed the issue of the unsubstantiated rumor of a secret fling between her and Hemsworth. Lawrence replied to the question on What Happens Live With Andy Cohen: “Not true, total rumor.”

Lawrence went on to explain that she and Hemsworth did kiss “one time” but that it was “years after” Cyrus and Hemsworth broke up. She also said she believed the similarity between her red carpet gown and Cyrus’ gold dress in the video was simply a “coincidence.”

While it seems there is a romantic history shared between Lawrence, Cyrus, and Hemsworth, it apparently did not overlap per se, nor did Lawrence so much as ever hook up with the Australian actor, despite whatever rumors you’ve heard. As Lawrence put it in the interview, “Are you satisfied?”
