He’s a rapper, the leader of the Wu-Tang Clan, a music producer, author, multi-instrumentalist, actor, director and screenwriter. Of course, I’m talking about RZA, who is set to impress audiences once again with his , explosive action movie, Brick Mansions.
A remake of the French action film District 13, Brick Mansions takes place in a futuristic Detroit that has been ravaged by crime and drugs to the point where it has since been walled off from the rest of America by the powers that be. RZA plays Tremaine Alexander, the ruthless crime lord of Old Detroit who is as cold as they come. His reign is threatened though by Lino Dupree (David Belle) and undercover cop Damien Collier (the late Paul Walker), two men from different parts of town who have their own personal reasons for wanting to take Tremaine out of the equation.
RZA proved to be an absolute delight to chat with when I met him at Brick Mansions’ press day in Los Angeles last week. During our time together, we spoke about his cooking skills, how he managed to play a character that is so different from who he is in real life, and how he re his co-star, Paul Walker.
