When A Quiet Place initially premiered back in 2018, it was to the resounding applause of critics and audiences around the world. A Quiet Place Part 2 came at a time when the world was as silent as characters on the screen. The coronavirus had shoved people inside their houses and unfortunately the sequel, which was slated to drop in 2020, was pushed back an entire year to May 2021. When it did arrive, it was once again to the resounding applause of critics and audiences who couldn’t believe Krasinksi managed to do it again. The film, like its predecessor, received over 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. 

Just one year after the sequel, it was announced at the 2022 CinemaCon that an official prequel titled A Quiet Place: Day One would make its way to theaters in 2024. The film would take place on the day that the asteroid bearing the aliens first crashed into Earth. Fans have been anxiously waiting for more news, and as it turns out, there’s plenty. So, here’s everything we know about the much-anticipated prequel.

The original release date for A Quiet Place: Day One was scheduled for Sept. 22, 2023 and then pushed to March 8, 2024, although Paramount has shuffled its schedule up once more, with the action-packed prequel now set to release in theaters on June 28, 2024. With the official release date being revealed, Paramount Pictures has simultaneously unveiled the movie’s pulse-pounding teaser trailer — which can be viewed directly above.

The movie will additionally be helmed by Pig director Michael Sarnoski, and will be produced by Michael Bay, Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, and John Krasinski. Pig was one of the best reviewed movies of 2021, so while Krasinski isn’t directing this film, it’s reassuringly still in good hands.

As it stands, the movie will serve as a spin-off prequel addition to the franchise, with the film’s events showcasing how the post-apocalyptic world came to be. As a result, its title alone suggests that it will solely be a prequel and thus, the universal assumption is that Krasinski, Emily Blunt, and their onscreen children, Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds, will not make an appearance in the film.

The spinoff is based on an original idea from John Krasinski, according to The Hollywood Reporter. So even though the original cast is unlikely to appear in this installment, we can breathe easy knowing the story is still rooted in Krasinski’s mind. A sequel to A Quiet Place Part 2 is expected to release in 2025, according to Paramount, so we are reassured knowing we haven’t seen the last of the Abbott family (well, maybe Krasinski’s character).

Even with the original cast not likely to appear in the spinoff prequel, the movie does indeed feature a star-studded cast — including Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o, Alex Wolff, and Stranger Things‘ megastar Joseph Quinn.

Filming for A Quiet Place: Day One officially kickstarted in February 2023 and wrapped up its filming production in April 2023. Of course, much of the focus of the spin-off has been in regards to filming locations used in the project.

The Abbott house and farmland seen in the first and second films were filmed in upstate New York in the village of Pawling. We’re not likely to see that same house or farmland in A Quiet Place: Day One, but it’s clear that the setting of New York was used as a primary location for filming.

The famous opening baseball scene from A Quiet Place Part 2 was filmed in the small town of North Tonawanda, New York, and the downtown street scenes were filmed on Main Street in Akron, New York, which is a village near Buffalo in Erie County.

All in all, many scenes from A Quiet Place: Day One were split between filming locations in both New York, USA and London, England, so it’s very likely that those two settings will play a monumental part in the success and triumph of the brand-new film.

One of the eeriest films to come out of 2018 reminded us all that sometimes, it’s best to keep as quiet as possible. Through the duration of A Quiet Place, the Abbot family must live in an existence where the next noise they make could get them killed—and the subsequent noise does.

The Abbots’ son Beau, like most kids, sees a toy with flashing lights and sounds that he’d love to have as his own, but his father, understanding the circumstances at hand, takes it away for the safety of everyone. Beau’s older sister sympathizes with her little brother and returns the toy to him without batteries. Regan couldn’t have known that he grabbed the batteries to put them back in his plane, and things were about to get fatal for poor Beau.

A year later, the family is shown, and things have certainly changed; a guilt-ridden Regan feels responsible for her brother’s death. The creatures are still stalking noise with a vengeance, and Evelyn is expecting another baby. Sound-proofing is at its most high necessity with a new baby on the way. Of course, Beau’s death isn’t the only one that the family will experience, and by the end of the movie, the family takes on a new form as well, this time without their father and husband, Lee.

That leads us to A Quiet Place II, which sees the Abbot family still fighting for survival and, for a flash, what life was like just as the creatures began arriving. The second installment of A Quiet Place alerts us to the fact that the creatures are affected by the high-pitched sound from Regan’s hearing aid. With this knowledge, the family can work with a bit of leverage as they search for other survivors.

If you’ve not yet seen this film, you’re in luck. The movie is available on Paramount Plus and currently ballooning in popularity, according to Flix Patrol. There are new players in the game this time around and hope for a return to some sense of normality.

Sleeper hit A Quiet Place was simple, effective and free of pretence. John Krasinski wrote, directed and performed opposite his real-life wife Emily Blunt, in a story centred on family. Much of the original was devoted to demonstrating the importance of being together and relying on strength through unity. That this family drama then morphed into a survival horror with silence as its singular trigger proved to be a masterstroke. An insightfulness which carries over into A Quiet Place Part II, as Millicent Simmonds’ Regan comes to the fore. Following on from her staggering debut in Wonderstruck from Todd Haynes, it soon becomes apparent early on how crucial Simmonds is in this sequel. Her all too human imperfections add pathos, imply strength and are fundamental to audience reconnection. They tie in so seamlessly with the reintroduction of themes and visual communication, that some might miss it. A Quiet Place Part II takes a perceived disability and repurposes it for a narrative that would be lost otherwise. Whole scenes, almost every form of human interaction and several set pieces are shaped around silence, and it provides both profound strength and terror dependent upon point of view. Looking beyond the inherent empowerment on screen embodied through subtle sound design, Emily Blunt takes on more traditional duties as a shotgun-toting matriarch. Evelyn is Ripley in floral print with equal amounts of hard-edged humanity. Grief threatens to consume them all from the outset, as Krasinski’s Lee is conspicuously absent. Noah Jupe’s Marcus is perpetually in peril, while his sister Regan steps up to supersede her brother. Elsewhere, the introduction of Cillian Murphy’s Emmett changes their dynamic, whilst fulfilling an essential function as surrogate patriarch for this diminished family unit. As the narrative branches out into road trip territory, briefly becomes a rites of age fable and then reverts back to its thriller roots, closure seems possible. In a move which is both audacious and understated, Krasinski offers up a three-way set piece that illustrates his flair for action. As simultaneous sequences play out in isolation, plot points are tied together like a devious cat’s cradle. The iconic and the ingenious collide as each principal player gets their time to shine. Production designer Jess Gonchor builds on the original blueprint created by Jeffrey Beecroft to depict a society in decline. Derelict homes, dilapidated train carriages and industrial disrepair reinforce the sense of disconnection. Cinematographer Polly Morgan ramps up tension by keeping her principal players in tight close-up, blurring backgrounds and playing on shadows. Pitch black doorways and idyllic summer settings are pervaded by threat, while set pieces feel vaguely voyeuristic.

And while the 2-and-a-half-minute preview gives us a lot to process, much of the internet is still wrapping its head around Cillian Murphy’s rugged new look. Though the Peaky Blinders actor was a Christopher Nolan regular for much of the late 2000s and early 2010s, Murphy’s major cinematic outings have been a little rarer in recent years. The sequel to 2018’s critically acclaimed and hugely profitable A Quiet Place will also serve as the series debut for Djimon Hounsou of Blood Diamond and Guardians of the Galaxy fame. Meanwhile, Emily Blunt reprises her role as Evelyn Abbott, while Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe return as Regan and Marcus, respectively. As for the father of the Abbott family, though Lee met a sad fate in the first film, we certainly can’t rule out a cameo, especially when actor John Krasinski is serving as the sequel’s director. In fact, if the new trailer is anything to go by, then the movie will even journey back to before the events of the original to observe the family on the first day of the invasion. Nonetheless, the bulk of the sequel will presumably pick up where the last movie left off, which is where Murphy and his soundproof bunker come into the picture. From the look of things, A Quiet Place 2 could be taking a page from the George A. Romero playbook by making the monsters into a mere catalyst for a conflict between humans, but all will be revealed when the film hits theaters on March 20th.

As another decade of film reaches its end to become part of our collective history, there’s no better time to look forward to what the theaters (and our Netflix s) have waiting for us in 2020. And sure to be one of the biggest releases is A Quiet Place 2, the sequel to 2018’s surprise blockbuster starring real life couple John Krasinski and Emily Blunt. A teaser trailer for the film was released a couple of weeks ago, but it was basically just a glorified reminder that a sequel was coming and that silence is still the golden rule in its post-apocalyptic monster infested setting. Well, luckily 2020 is starting off strong as a brand new preview for the pic has now dropped and can be seen up above, teasing a terrifying new adventure for audiences to get excited about. Krasinski, who directed the first film as well, is back only for directing duties this time (unless he appears in flashback sequences) along with the same small cast of actors. That’d be Emily Blunt as Evelyn Abbott, and her newborn baby and two teenage children Regan (Millicent Simmonds) and Marcus (Noah Jupe), who seem to be venturing away from their heavily fortified family home and into uncharted territory.

With the first trailer for A Quiet Place 2 already showing in theaters and set to arrive online in the not too distant future, the marketing machine is beginning to ramp up as Paramount begins to reveal more and more of their follow-up to the 2018 horror hit. And so far, we’re liking what we see. This latest look at the sequel isn’t terribly revealing, but as the first official photo to be released from A Quiet Place 2, we’re certainly happy to have it. Seen in the gallery down below, it features Emily Blunt front and center, fighting to survive alongside her children in a post-apocalyptic world, one which has been overrun by “blind extraterrestrial creatures with an acute sense of hearing.” Unfortunately, there’s not much else we can glean from this fairly tame shot, but with all the anticipation currently surrounding the movie, it’s nice to finally see something from it. And again, it’s surely a sign that more is on the way, including a trailer.

Audiences will get their first taste of A Quiet Place: Part II this weekend as a brief 15-second teaser trailer is expected to screen before films like Jumanji: The Next Level and Black Christmas. While the brevity of the clip likely won’t be enough to give away any crucial plot details, it should serve as an exciting reminder to moviegoers that the highly-anticipated sequel is on the way and will be arriving in theaters early next year. Of course, the original science fiction horror film turned out to be a massive hit back in 2018, grossing over $340 million at the box office against a budget of less than $22 million. The unique horror flick was well-received by critics and fans alike, too, garnering a lot of awards recognition for the acting, screenplay and sound editing. For those unfamiliar, the story revolved around a family trying to survive a post-apocalyptic world in which deadly monsters with supersonic hearing roam the earth. When the mother gets pregnant, the near-mute family has to prepare for a noisy newborn that could endanger all of their lives.

Fans of one of the most successful original horror films of recent years – 2018’s A Quiet Place – will be abuzz at the speed a sequel has entered production. Grossing over $300 million was always going to be a ticket to fast-tracking, but I have some news that’ll leave you even more abuzz than you already are (barely a paragraph in and I’ve already killed the word abuzz). Trailer Track, a website specializing in all-things-trailers (who knew), have word that a preview for A Quiet Place: Part II is just a couple of weeks away from release. Granted, I have to add the caveat that it’s only a 30-second trailer, a teaser if you will. Hopefully the prospect is enough to tide you over though until something more substantial is airdropped from the Hollywood hills. After all, a quick visit to TimeAndDate.com will disclose there are just 112 days to go till its March 20th, 2020 release. OK, when you frame it in those it sounds centuries away. How can I improve it I wonder? Well, a visit to Calculator.com (why didn’t I just use Google) will divulge that 112 days is exactly 16 weeks from today. 16 weeks. Why, that’s no time at all, right?

Following the critical and box office success of last year’s A Quiet Place, the post-apocalyptic horror/thriller which saw John Krasinski take to the feature film director’s chair for the first time, production has started on the movie’s sequel which is now being referred to as Part II.  The announcement that shooting has started was seen on Krasinski’s Twitter where he posted a photo of a clapperboard on set bearing an image of the farm location from the first movie, with Part II printed underneath.

While production starts now, audiences won’t see A Quiet Place Part II until early next year, so we’ve got a bit longer to wait to find out what happens in the second chapter of this new franchise.

There are plenty of solid horror movies on the horizon – It: Chapter Two and Child’s Play, just to name a few – but if you were to look into what’s coming out next year, you might want to keep your eye on A Quiet Place 2. The follow-up to the 2018 original will see John Krasinski return to the director’s chair, with his wife, Emily Blunt, reprising her role as Evelyn Abbott. It’s not entirely sure if the children from the first film are making a comeback, but it looks like both Cillian Murphy (who played Dr. Crane/Scarecrow in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy) and Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta, Child’s Play) have officially ed the cast. So far, Krasinski has kept quiet about what he has planned for the sequel. As opposed to focusing on plot and characters though, it seems he’s more keen on exploring the world that the first film introduced us to. In fact, a recent report from Bloody Disgusting seems to back this up.

“I think that we’re going to get a few answers to the origin of where and how this whole thing happened,” Henry explained. “I think that people want to know that. But I think you’re just going to see another side of it…more of humanity that survived this thing in this next story.”

Whatever angle the film takes, it looks like Krasinski will have to live up to the high expectations set by the original, which racked up $340 million at the box office – on a budget of $17 million – and was praised as one of the best horror films of the year. We’ll find out if A Quiet Place 2 can deliver when it hits theaters on May 15th, 2020.

Unfortunately, details on who he’ll play or how large of a role he’ll have weren’t made available, but his involvement can only be a good thing. What we can tell you for now is that A Quiet Place 2 will bring about the return of Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe as the three surviving of the Abbott family. Cillian Murphy will be ing them as well, hopping on board as one of the cast’s newcomers alongside Henry.
