There’s a legal battle bubbling in the very center of the reality TV kingdom. Leah McSweeney is suing the big boss of the Real Housewives franchise — Andy Cohen himself.

The former cast member McSweeney is alleging some very serious accusations. Page Six reports that in 2024, McSweeney filed explosive claims in a suit alleging Cohen snorted cocaine with other cast — and that producers of the show even encouraged her to break her sobriety. But now, she’s come back with even more explosive claims.

The former cast member of The Real Housewives of New York City claims that Cohen took the alleged Justin Baldoni route and fired off a media blitz that was a coordinated attack against her. According to McSweeney, Cohen “requested or induced” current and former cast to publicly attack McSweeney’s character — and ensure her reputation as a liar is fully entrenched in the zeitgeist.

The filing claims that the cast were willing to take part in this supposed charade in order to advance their own careers. The filing gives specific examples, like Lisa Vanderpump appearing on The Talk and declaring she’s on Cohen’s side. The granular example was bringing forward the platform argument — which suggests McSweeney should just be grateful that she was given the opportunity to appear on screens all over America. And that all that was thanks to Andy Cohen.

There were other examples where some former cast claimed that McSweeney was simply trying to assassinate Cohen’s character. Taken by themselves, this honestly just sounds like typical Real Housewives drama. Honestly, even when they’re not on the clock — the drama still follows them. However, the filing does acknowledge this and says that all this bad-mouthing is a result of the aforementioned “requesting” or “inducing.”

The filing is meant to bolster McSweeney’s original lawsuit by framing all this media blitz as retaliation. So the new filing is not merely to add more complaints, but rather to accentuate the allegations of Cohen trying to punish McSweeney in some way. It’s worth mentioning that Bravo did stand up for Cohen and previously attempt to get the original motion dismissed. The motion was allowed to proceed after a ruling in January, and according to the new filings, that’s when the “retaliation” began.

McSweeney’s counsel wants to not only prove the retaliation claims but also double down on the claims of cocaine use. The filing states that two unnamed castmates told McSweeney that Cohen does actually use cocaine. NeNe Leakes has also called Cohen a “coke-head,” and the counsel is bringing that up to create historical precedent.

Bravo and Andy Cohen have not given any public comments about this new filing. This new filing is trying to the dots and give the court and perhaps the public too a glimpse at the inner workings of reality TV as it exists today. If true, these allegations seem to suggest that the producers of these shows push their cast beyond their limit and if they don’t follow orders, they will be dumped. And worse off, if they complain — to quote Baldoni’s PR — “they will be buried.”

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Brandi Glanville has sparked concern among fans after sharing a photo in which she appears to have a facial disfigurement. 

The reality star posted the selfie on social media over the weekend with the caption “Sick it!”. In the image, Glanville appears to have a large and inflamed lump on her left cheek and a general swollen complexion. Naturally, the photo prompted concern from some s, who took to Glanville’s replies to question her wellbeing and send well-wishes. “Sending you prayers and love,” one person wrote, with another adding that they were “very sorry to hear that you’ve been going through this.”

Elsewhere, some fans theorized that Glanville’s swollen face arose from complications with plastic surgery, saying it could be the result of “filler migration” or because the reality star “kill[ed] all your muscles in your face with Botox.” Glanville relieved some fan concerns with a follow-up post, in which she clarified where the lump on her face came from and suggested what might be the source of it. “What happened?,” Glanville wrote of her facial condition, “I wish I knew.” 

Glanville went on to write how she has been “in and out of hospital” and spent “almost every dollar I have” trying to identify the problem, but has so far been unable to find a clear answer. According to Glanville, some doctors she has visited have said she has “a parasite that jumps around my face,” while others have theorized it could be “stress induced edema,” a condition in which swelling is caused by too much fluid being trapped in the body’s tissues. 

As for the source of the stress, Glanville has her own theories. “I personally say it’s Bravo,” she wrote, in reference to the network behind The Real Housewives who she’s been in multiple bitter legal battles with since early last year. In one case, Glanville was named in a lawsuit filed against Bravo by Caroline Manzo, a fellow Housewives alum who alleged that Glanville sexually assaulted her while filming season five of Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip. For her part, Glanville herself sent a legal letter to both Bravo and Andy Cohen, accusing the latter of sexually harassing her when he sent a video jokingly saying he wanted to watch her have sex. 

Glanville has long claimed that the stress prompted by these legal battles has affected her health, saying recently in an X post that she has “spent all of my money on [her doctor] and that “my health is ruined.” As a result of her poor health, Glanville took a break from Cameo, and regularly shared updates about the treatment of her condition. In August, she said she had to pause her use of antidepressants “to try a new drug” to treat edema, adding that she “will do anything to get my health back.” 

Before that, she shared another image of the swelling on the side of her face, and again cited Bravo as the cause. “Stress will kill you,” she wrote alongside a selfie with a swollen cheek, “thank you Bravo, I couldn’t even work if I wanted to at this point.” Glanville ed The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills during the show’s third season, and remained a part of the cast up until season six. After that, she appeared on the second season of the spinoff series, Ultimate Girls Trip, and was set to feature in the new installment of that show before it was scrapped due to Manzo’s lawsuit.

Republican vice-presidential nominee JD Vance had a three-hour sit-down interview with Joe Rogan on his podcast The Joe Rogan Experience just a week after Donald Trump’s interview with the host.

As of writing, the Rogan and Vance video has more than 10 million views, and many have summarized the key takeaways from the lengthy conversation, one of which is Vance’s confidence that he and Trump have the gay community’s votes. “I think frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if me and Trump won just the normal gay guy vote,” he told Rogan, adding that “they just want to be left the hell alone.”

When the video was released, many — particularly those who and are part of the LGBTQ+ community — reacted to Vance’s statement, asking what he meant by “normal” gay guys. One of those who commented was TV personality and host Andy Cohen, who reposted a clip of the interview with the comment, “sashay away” in reference to RuPaul’s catchphrase whenever a contestant was eliminated from his show RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Broadcast journalist Anderson Cooper also reacted to Vance’s statement, telling his CNN co-hosts “I’m curious to know where the line is between a normal gay person and a not-normal gay person,” he said before adding that he assumes what Vance meant was anything that has to do with drag and wearing makeup would be considered “not normal.” “It’s fine for Donald Trump, but on a gay guy that wouldn’t be considered normal,” Cooper added.

Gay Congress react to JD Vance’s statement

Two gay of Congress also shared their thoughts on Vance’s “normal gay guy” comment. U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wis.) told the Washington Blade that he doesn’t trust Vance on many things, especially so when it comes to his opinion on what “normal” is.

“JD has spent his time as both a candidate and Senator attacking the rights of the LGBTQI+ community, and he has no idea what ‘normal gays’ go through because of bullies like him and Trump.”

Porcan further stated that “normal” gays are just like “normal” people who aren’t gay in that they are people who care about the country they live in and their own families. Based on his assessment, he surmises that the majority are voting for presidential candidate Kamala Harris “because they know what’s at stake for our community and our country.”

Likewise, U.S. Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.), who was interviewed by the Washington Blade over the phone, said that Vance’s statement was “so stupid” and “ridiculous.” According to Garcia, it’s hard to believe that the majority of the gay community would just vote for Trump and Vance knowing their anti-LGBTQ stance and the statements they’ve made in the past against the community. He further added that there might be a “handful of these MAGA Log Cabin folks,” but based on his observation, Harris’ from the LGBTQ+ community is huge in comparison.

Garcia also stated that it shows Vance is “completely out of touch” and has a “complete lack of awareness” when he singled out the “normal gay guys” from the rest of the community.

“I think that is something that conservatives try to do is to somehow say that they’re okay with, you know, the LGB, but not with trans people, and that’s unacceptable to us.”

Human Rights Campaign conducted a poll in Aug. and the results showed that among the LGBTQ+ community’s ed voters, 74 percent Harris compared to the 7.5 percent who said they would vote for Trump.

Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper have both made important contributions to pop culture over the years, with one helming Bravo’s soapy Real Housewives franchise and the other an esteemed news reporter. And the good friends can be found doing the same thing every December 31st: hosting a CNN special and ringing in a brand new year.

In 2022, Cohen said on the Table for Two podcast hosted by Bruze Bozzi, “We’ve been able to develop our friendship as a public duo which has been fun for me and for him.” It’s enjoyable for everyone else, too. The 2024 broadcast had monumental ratings and many consider this broadcast a must-watch every year. Watching the ball drop in Times Square may be a classic tradition, but some might think if you’ve seen that once, you’ve seen it a million times. Cohen and Cooper’s dynamic is special, which is of course why they keep getting this job year after year.

Fans are excited to see the duo back on their screens on the last night of 2024. One X commented on Cohen’s tequila-throwing dreams and agreed the journalist “had no business being outside” during Milton. Another said, “Quite literally something worth making no plans for.”

Sipping champagne at midnight and enjoying a few cocktails throughout the evening is part of many people’s celebrations (unless you’re like me and go to bed at 10 p.m… no shame in my NYE game). Mocktails may be a growing trend and apparently Gen Z loves them (along with middle parts and crew socks), but 2024 has been a year. And the U.S. election isn’t even over. This season of Real Housewives of New Jersey got a lot of criticism from the Bravo fans as toxic drama erupts in the friend group. Due to the tension and negative energy between cast Teresa Giudice, Melissa Gorga, Dolores Catania, Margaret Josephs, Jennifer Aydin, Jackie Goldschneider, Jenn Fessler, Rachel Fuda, and Danielle Cabral, viewers are tired of the repetitive plot line.

Did Andy Cohen hint at a potential reboot?

During Sirius XM’s Andy Cohen Live, Monday, July 15, 2024 episode, Cohen shared that his team was in favor of introducing a new cast to the audience. As fans were glad to see Danielle Cabral and Rachel Fuda’s addition this season, it proves that viewers want to see younger, newer faces with untold stories. Cohen hinted at an announcement similar to the one made for the New York franchise.

“I think it’s time to do what happened withNew York. Bring fresh faces in. We’re gonna figure something out. We are all on the same page about that.”

However, the process of finding new cast and building the audience’s trust from scratch is a difficult one. It takes time for the show production to know if they can provide a similar experience to the viewers as they did previously. Forming a connection with the audience is a slow process and an unpredictable one where the producers aren’t sure if they will be able to grasp people’s attention the same way.

They also have to prepare for a possible backlash as there will be fans who wouldn’t be too happy if their favorite cast member is removed from the show. Considering all these possibilities in mind, Cohen went ahead with transforming Real Housewives of New York City completely.

In a conversation with the Hollywood Reporter on July 16, 2023, Cohen shared that the process of finding a “diverse and fun” friend group of women was a challenging one. He was looking for a cast that has the potential to be in front of the camera and showcase their vibrant personalities. Cohen also told the interviewer that whether women are friends isn’t an issue as they want the room of possible friendships to stay open on the show. But there will be cast who have existing friendships.

“We looked at so many people and we met people every way from Sunday before we wound up selecting this group. We took a lot of care in this, and I think it shows in who we actually chose.”

This will be a similar process for the Real Housewives of New Jersey reboot which fans highly anticipate. It seems like the fans have already outgrown the cast and want to see more fresh faces like Danielle and Rachel. For the first time, no season 14 reunion episode will be filmed for the New Jersey spinoff. This decision was made after the Bravo production realized there was no matter to reach a resolution and thus no reason to film a reunion episode.

This is indeed a disappointing update for many fans, but Cohen believes the finale episode would satisfy the audience and make viewers realize why a reunion wasn’t necessary.

So, is the reboot confirmed?

As of now, there is no confirmation as to whether a reboot is confirmed or not. Andy stated there has been no conversation surrounding the next season as they are focusing on season 14 right now.

“We haven’t even started talking about next season. We want this one to end. We’re gonna let it sit and then we will get into it, so that’s where we are with that.”

Previously the cast divide on The Real Housewives of Atlanta and The Real Housewives of Potomac led to a reboot after the previous cast was fired. Let’s see what the future of the next RHONJ will be. An insider source told People Magazine on June 1, 2024, that there have been discussions surrounding the potential reboot. It stated that “all options” are being considered despite no official statement being released.

“A reunion is meant to have resolution and it’s clear in the season final that there is no path forward in that type of setting. So the network is figuring out a different concept to wrap up the season. Everything and anything is on the table.”

Twelve episodes in, fans predict this season will lead nowhere as the OG friend group is divided and the cast take each other’s side which adds to the already existing drama. There is a chance that Real Housewives of New Jersey gets a reboot sooner than viewers think as even after the filming has wrapped up, there is still beef amongst the cast and unresolved issues.

I think there would’ve been a lot more stuff from everyone. It was so soon after. I’m still in my, like, functional freeze state, essentially, like, just trying to get through it. I felt like I wasn’t in a position financially to walk away. And I also felt like I should keep living my life.”

Cohen’s been a vital element of the show’s formula from the start, and is key to the blueprint that’s helped the franchise — comprised of 32 separate shows, both international and domestic — to flourish far longer than the competition.

Cohen’s status as a principle element behind Bravo’s success for nearly 20 years now essentially guarantees that he’ll be attached to the network for exactly as long as he wants to be. He may choose to retire eventually, but another two decades (at least) are likely in Cohen’s future if he and his long-time network have anything to say about it.

In legal documents obtained by Page Six, Andy Cohen was highlighted as a key example of a toxic workplace culture at Bravo. McSweeney, who has been open for several years about her struggle with substance abuse and mental illness, claims in the new suit that Cohen openly and regularly snorts cocaine with her Real Housewives co-stars.

This is not the first time Cohen has been accused of using drugs in the workplace. In 2017, comedian Kathy Griffin alleged that Cohen offered her cocaine multiple times during appearances on his show, Watch What Happens Live. Griffin also stated that Cohen was a “horrible boss” regarding his involvement in her Bravo reality series, My Life on the D-List.

McSweeney’s allegations of a toxic workplace were said to be worsened by other Bravo heads, who “not only supplied Ms. McSweeney with unlimited, free alcoholic beverages throughout Ms. McSweeney’s employment as a cast member on ‘RHONY’ Season 12, but also encouraged her to consume those alcoholic beverages.” The producers apparently also “called Ms. McSweeney and told her that, despite relapsing into alcohol use disorder, Ms. McSweeney should continue to consume alcohol so long as she ‘remain[ed] lucid’ while filming.’”

The suit also claims that multiple RHONY cast expressed concern to producers over McSweeney’s obvious drunkenness and behavior during the filming of the episode “Hurricane Leah”, the highest-rated episode of the season, with McSweeney’s erratic actions playing a central role in the episode.

It was said that McSweeney wanted to visit her dying grandmother during the filming of the episode and experienced panic attacks due to being absent and overwhelmed, but was pressured to stay present. Instead, producers “told Ms. McSweeney to ‘lighten up’ and ‘have more fun’ and that her ‘personality is a lot different when [she was] drinking.’”

While Cohen was not present for much of filming of RHONY season 12, the documents maintained that both the TV host and the producers “put Ms. McSweeney in situations where she felt pressured to relapse into alcohol use disorder.”

Moreover, this platforming of McSweeney’s addiction concerning her role as a cast member were said to become inextricable. Cohen and producers were said to have created a culture of “glorifying [cast ’] alcohol use”, where it was implied that if McSweeney maintained sobriety, “Cohen, [the producers] and the audience would think she was boring [and] Cohen would no longer want her on the show.”

A statement put out by Andy Cohen’s rep maintained that the claims made in the suit were “completely false,” although no comment was made regarding the documents’ allegations of sexual harassment against a producer, stated not to be Cohen. It was said that the unnamed producer “routinely sends unsolicited pictures of [their] genitalia to lower-level … production employees,” a fact known to higher-ups at Bravo but not intervened with – likely referring to Cohen.

This is the third lawsuit involving sexual harassment to emerge from the filming of The Real Housewives franchise in recent months, with Brandi Glanville’s suit directly accusing Cohen of sexual harassment. According to documents from Glanville’s legal team, Cohen sent Glanville a message about watching him have sexual intercourse with one of her castmates, although Cohen has responded to the suit claiming that these comments were clearly made “in jest.”

Real Housewives of New Jersey alum Caroline Manzo has also sued the Bravo network for harassment from an unnamed producer while filming an unaired season of Girls’ Trip, and in contrast, a sexual assault at the hands of co-star Brandi Glanville, in which Glanville was said to have forcefully and inappropriately touched her.

Manzo cites Bravo producers as a direct cause of this incident, as the work culture at the network allows cast “to become severely intoxicated, and then direct, encourage and/or allow them to sexually harass other cast because that is good for ratings,” according to Manzo’s suit.

The Real Housewives series has been a Bravo institution since it first began airing in 2006 and though it has gone through several iterations over the years, the franchise remains our guilty pleasure to this day. If we’re being honest, we do have favorite housewives and so does longtime executive producer Andy Cohen, who finally shared which housewives he likes the most.

In Nov. 2023, Cohen sat down with Alex Cooper on her Call Her Daddy podcast for an interview in front of a live audience. The television personality mostly made headlines for his candor in discussing his intimate life — apparently, he’s a “daddy” in the bedroom so the podcast appearance is apt — but he also got candid about his favorite housewives.

This isn’t the first time someone asked Cohen, who also hosts the show’s reunions, which housewives he likes best; it is, however, the first time he’s answered.

The resident king of Bravo shared his favorite housewives of all time are “the ones [he has] the longest history with.” He could’ve left it there but Cohen chose this moment to finally stop being coy and named “Vicki, Tamra, Teresa, Luann” as his favorite housewives.

Those who’ve kept up with the Real Housewives over the years will recognize these woman as Vicki Gunvalson (Real Housewives of Orange County), Tamra Judge (Real Housewives of Orange County), Teresa Giudice (Real Housewives of New Jersey), and Luann de Lesseps (Real Housewives of New York).

I can’t fault Cohen for having favorites, especially when he’s known these women as long as he has. Though, I must confess I’m a bit disappointed he didn’t include NeNe Leakes or musical icon Erika Jayne on his list.

The fan speculation surrounding the marriage of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards and real estate developer Mauricio Umansky almost stole the spotlight from the promotion of the season of The Real Housewives of New York.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Andy Cohen, the producer of both shows, addressed fan speculation that the sensational rumors about the marital woes of Kyle and Mauricio are merely a publicity stunt to promote the new season of the show by firing back:

“That’s a new one. That’s really stupid, is what it is. That’s too lame to even respond to, I think.”

The rumor mill has been in full swing with whispers that Kyle is in an extramarital relationship with country music star Morgan Wade, whom she connected with on Instagram. However, Kyle has firmly denied any romantic involvement. Moreover, she and Mauricio released a t statement on Instagram about the state of their marriage in response to the media frenzy, explaining:

“Any claims regarding us divorcing are untrue. However, yes, we have had a rough year. The most challenging one of our marriage. But we both love and respect each other tremendously. There has been no wrongdoing on anyone’s part. Although we are in the public eye, we ask to be able to work through our issues privately.”

The couple tied the knot in 1996 and share three daughters: Alexia, Sophia, and Portia. Mauricio is also the stepfather of Farrah, Kyle’s daughter from her first marriage to Guraish Aldjufrie.

Cohen disclosed that Season 13 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills will contain intriguing revelations about the Richards/Umansky marriage, as did fellow cast member Garcelle Beauvais. However, she was reluctant to get into specifics. As of 2023, the couple reportedly boasts a shared net worth of $100 million, making them a prominent couple in Beverly Hills society.

The Real Housewives impresario quickly returned to the subject of RHONY, praising its all-new cast, real estate agent Erin Lichy, communications consultant Brynn Whitfield, content developer Sai De Silva, Somali-Canadian model Ubah Hassan, fashion publicist Jessel Taank, and fashion entrepreneur Jenna Lyons.

Both shows sound poised to deliver the signature drama that makes each franchise must-see reality tv. Cohen was determined not to let the rumors about Kyle and Mauricio overshadow the intrigue on The Real Housewives of New York. With all the excitement in store, it will be hard for viewers to resist watching both shows.
