This picture of Sadler in character has plenty of fans pumped for the long-awaited completion of the trilogy. In fact, one of the many people who are excited by it is fellow actor Colin Hanks, who responded to the photo with “Yes!!!!” The simple yet fitting sentiment was echoed with gifs and messages of by nearly everyone in Sadler’s replies.

Death isn’t the only one gearing up for the new flick, however. Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves also both look more than ready to save the universe again. While the Internet has been lamenting the loss of Reeves’ awesome beard, folks can take comfort in the fact that Kid Cudi has reportedly ed the cast. Where the rapper fits in amongst the likes of Bill, Ted and Death remains to be seen, but it should definitely be interesting to have him involved. Maybe he’ll be a new member of the Wyld Stallyns!

The star-studded cast also features Anthony Carrigan, Brigette Lundy-Paine, Samara Weaving, Jillian Bell, Hal London Jr., Amy Stoch, Jayma Mays, Erinn Hayes, Beck Bennett, Holland Taylor, Kristen Schaal and more. It’s been rumored that Eddie Van Halen may even make a surprise cameo.

Unfortunately, George Carlin will not be part of the movie. The late comedian was a huge part of the first two installments of the series before his death in 2008. Out of respect, his role as Rufus is not expected to be recast.

To be completely honest, to this day, I’m still a little perplexed as to how Hollywood decided to make another Bill & Ted movie. Don’t get me wrong, I was a big fan of Excellent Adventure – my confusion mostly stems from trying to figure out how another entry in the franchise would resonate with today’s audience. That being said, nostalgia is a powerful force, and it’s entirely likely execs are banking on longtime fans to drive ticket sales.

Bill & Ted Face The Music stars filming sometime this month, and thankfully, both Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter will reprise their roles as the titular slackers, who are, yet again, tasked with saving the universe. Unfortunately, George Carlin ed away more than a decade ago, and as a result, he won’t return as Rufus. On the other hand though, it looks like William Sadler will once again be playing the role of the Grim Reaper, the antagonist-turned-ally who helped the Wyld Stallyns defeat evil robots from the future in Bogus Journey.

There are also a few fresh faces ing the cast. As we previously reported, both Bridget Lundy-Paine and Samara Weaving will be playing the titular duo’s daughters and now, as revealed by Deadline, Kid Cudi (real name Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi) has been added to the cast list, though his role is being kept under wraps for the moment.

Of course, Cudi is no stranger to Hollywood, having made his feature film debut in 2014’s Need for Speed alongside Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a bit to see him on the big screen for ourselves though, as Orion Pictures is scheduled to release Bill & Ted Face The Music on August 21st, 2020. Not much else is known about the movie just yet, but as always, we’ll keep you updated as additional information comes down the pipeline.

For years, Bill and Ted fans have been waiting patiently for Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves to pair up once again as our time traveling heroes. Now, finally, after numerous false starts and unsubstantiated rumors, Winters has shared our first behind the scenes look at Bill and Ted Face The Music, and it’s comfortingly familiar.

The image, which is a single from a scene’s storyboard, depicts stick figure versions of William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. and Theodore “Ted” Logan, yet you can still make out their classic look from the first film. It’s captioned:

“Happy Bill & Ted day! Kickoff on @BillandTed3 is moments away…”

While there’s a chance that our dimwitted protagonists would still dress as if they’ve never moved on from high school, it’s much more likely that this details one of the characters’ many stops through time.

Writer Ed Solomon had confirmed in the past that his script for the third movie features a middle-aged Bill and Ted revisiting events from the 1989 original. These scenes would incorporate unused footage of George Carlin’s beloved character Rufus, so the late comedian could still appear in the franchise even after his death.

Production for the film was slated to begin last March but was pushed back to this month. Winter’s caption pretty much confirms that if shooting hasn’t already started on Face the Music, it’ll commence at any moment.

Of course, the third Bill & Ted movie will see the return of the Wyld Stallyns, who’ve long ignored their music due to the responsibilities of aging and maintaining a family. Because of their mismanaged time, the boys never wrote the one song that established a perfect society, thus rupturing the very fabric of space and time. Now, it’s up to the duo, their daughters, and a new crop of historical figures, to travel through time and right their wrongs.

It brings me great joy to finally say that Bill & Ted Face the Music is now in production and slated to hit theaters August 21st, 2020.

As reported by ComicBook.com, Bridget Lundy-Paine and Samara Weaving will be ing Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves in front of the camera as the titular duo’s daughters.

Fans of Netflix originals will know Bridget from her role on Atypical, while Samara played the lead role in 2017’s The Babysitter. If the latter’s name sounds familiar, that’s because she’s the niece of Hugo Weaving, best known for his roles in V for Vendetta, Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy and, of course, The Matrix, which also starred Reeves.

But circling back to Bill and Ted Face the Music, as we said above, not much is known about the pic just yet, but with casting now heating up, it shouldn’t be long before we learn more. As always, watch this space.

William Sadler will also once again take on the part of Grim Reaper, the antagonist-turned-ally who helped the heroes defeat evil robots from the future in Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey.

Somehow, that bonkers plot will have to be topped with this next film. All that’s known about the storyline so far is that middle-aged Bill and Ted will have to once again team up to create a song that saves life as they know it. Judging by their band’s history in the first two movies, this will certainly prove to be quite the challenge.

It’s currently unknown how the pic will deal with the absence of Rufus this time around. George Carlin starred as the boys’ time traveling mentor during both movies, but has since ed away. The Twitter for the project confirmed that the comedian would be honored in some way, though it remains to be seen exactly how the writers decide to go about doing so.

One thing’s certainly for sure: the third installment of the franchise is sure to be just as wacky, if not more so, than the originals. It’ll be hard to top the insanity of the first two flicks, but fans will be expecting quite the show considering the extremely long hiatus since the last movie.

Dude! Bill and Ted 3 is, like, totally a thing that exists.

It’s even got a release date (August 21st, 2020) to call its own, after title stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter last week announced plans to make a movie this summer. Its name? Bill and Ted Face the Music, which has now officially welcomed the return of William Sadler (The Shawshank Redemption, Demon Knight) as the Grim Reaper himself.

Last seen in Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey almost *checks calendar* 30 years ago, Sadler is yet another exciting addition to the cast, and he’ll be rubbing shoulders with both Reeves and Winter this summer when production on Bill and Ted 3 begins in earnest. Details of his deathly role are being kept under lock and key, but last time out, Sadler’s specter forced Reeves and Winter’s bumbling heroes to dance with death – quite literally, as it were – in order to save their souls from the robot overlords.

It’s all very whimsical, and part of the reason why Bogus Journey remains so charming almost 30 years after its initial release. So lord only knows what surprises are in store for Bill and Ted Face the Music. Nevertheless, here’s the official word on Sadler’s second coming:

The Bill and Ted 3 Twitter later added that George Carlin, who famously played Rufus in the original movies, will be honored when Face the Music opens next summer. Carlin ed away in 2008 after starring in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and its bonkers sequel, so it’s only fitting that the third film acknowledges his character in some capacity.

He's so deeply missed by all who worked with him on the previous two films. His character will not be recast, but his absence will be a part of the whole third movie – including what is possibly the most emotional scene of the film.
