If there is one thing to know about Maks and Val Chmerkovskiy, it is that they will ride or die for their family. With the latter’s wife, Jenna Johnson, competing in the finale of Dancing With the Stars season 33 yesterday (Nov. 26) alongside Bachelor Nation’s Joey Graziadei, it is safe to say that the claws came out during the three-hour episode. Yikes!

Despite emerging victorious — taking home the coveted Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy — Joey and Jenna had an imperfect end to their Dancing With the Stars journey. While they received a perfect score for their Cha-Cha to “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” by Justin Timberlake, they received a 29 out of 30 for their Freestyle to “Canned Heat” by District 78 and Jake Simpson, receiving a nine from judge Carrie Ann Inaba that ruined their chance at a perfect evening.

Naturally, Maks and Val Chmerkovskiy were furious at Carrie Ann, taking to their respective Instagram stories to slam the already-controversial judge. Here’s what Maks had to say to kick off the conversation:

“This is Maks Chmerkovskiy reporting from backstage of the Dancing With the Stars finale, where once again, the feeling is that of just shock… We’re all feeling a bit perplexed about Carrie Ann,” Maks shared via his Instagram story, throwing shade at the fact that she called Joey and Jenna’s freestyle routine “underwhelming.” After all, with glowing tennis rackets and tons of background dancers, we were appalled by this comment as well…

The former DWTS pro continued, “Underwhelming? Get out of here! Give it three tens and move on. Clap, enjoy, say how beautiful it was — because it was — and then keep it moving… Now you put yourself in a position for giving the same score to Danny [Amendola], which was not even close to the same freestyle, and it just doesn’t make any sense to me.” He concluded the conversation by stating that Carrie Ann ruined Joey and Jenna’s special moment, which is just outright unforgivable.

Naturally, fans were in agreement:

“I know Carrie Ann HATES to see Maks walk into the room, but we love him.”

“I fear people don’t like him because he’s so blunt 🤣 but that’s why I love him.”

“This man tells no lies and gives zero Fs.”

Nevertheless, if Jenna’s brother-in-law was this infuriated, imagine how angry her husband was at Carrie Ann’s comments…

Here’s what Val had to say about the situation, packed with profanity:

“You spend 10 weeks, plus another three weeks of prep, working your ass off for that bull****? For tthat bull****? Bro, your point matters,” he shared via his Instagram Story.

“Whaaaat did you say his racket swing needed to be tighter? What!? 10 weeks of busting your a** for that?! Unbelievable,” the DWTS pro wrote in yet another post. Needless to say, the Chmerkovskiy brothers — as well as a majority of Dancing With the Stars viewers all across America — were furious with Carrie Ann and her comments yesterday, but was Joey and Jenna’s freestyle really underwhelming? Well, you can be the judge of that by watching the routine for yourself below:

To see the rest of last night’s performances — and to see Joey and Jenna be crowned the champions of Dancing With the Stars season 33 — you may stream the finale via Hulu or Disney Plus as we speak. After all, it was certainly an evening to !

If you opened social media shortly after “Halloween Nightmares Night” on Dancing With the Stars, chances are you saw all those memes ing Olympic rugby player Ilona Maher and her dance partner, Alan Bersten. And chances are you also noticed how most of those memes slammed judge Carrie Ann Inaba.

On Tuesday, Oct. 29, Ilona and Alan performed a thrilling Tango to “Psycho Killer” by Miley Cyrus, kicking off the show in a killer way (no pun intended). Unfortunately, the pair only scored 24 out of 30, which was quite the contrast to her fellow DWTS contestants who all earned nines and tens all evening.

Despite having the lowest scores of the night (by a landslide) — and also losing the dance-off to NBA player Dwight Howard and his dance partner, Daniella Karagach, which would’ve given them three extra points — Ilona and Alan narrowly survived elimination thanks to the public vote, sending The Bachelorette beauty Jenn Tran and her professional dance partner, Sasha Farber, home instead.

After the episode came to a close, Ilona and Alan did some post-show press, dishing about the controversial scores the judges gave them. Needless to say, they did not hold back…

After seeing their “Halloween Nightmares Night” scores, Ilona told Entertainment Tonight that she was “very nervous” heading into the elimination that evening, all while taking her feud with Carrie Ann to the next level. According to the Olympic rugby player, Alan took the judges’ comments (specifically Carrie Ann’s comments) to heart and choreographed a routine with more dancing, per their request, and it still wasn’t good enough.

Naturally, Ilona was disheartened to receive straight eights, when her fellow DWTS contestants received nines and tens all night:

“I think it was really sad to see the eights, and just then to see all the tens and nines and just feel like you kind of failed in a way, it was scary for us, but I’m so happy that people back home voted, because I just know we can do better.”

Alan concurred, contributing his thoughts to the conversation:

“It’s weird, because you want to agree with the judges, but I feel like Ilona did so well, and it was, in my opinion, one of her best dances. She danced so hard. We did really hard steps, and she didn’t mess up any of the steps, but it is so encouraging to see that all the fans resonate with Ilona and that are keeping us in here.”

@Ilona Maher & @Alan will be back another week, and thank fans for voting after elimination fears ♥ #ilonamaher #alanbersten #dancingwiththestars @Dancing with the Stars DWTS

Naturally, the DWTS duo shared the same sentiment in an interview with Good Morning America as well:

“I think it was just very disappointing to be so low and to have to rely on, you know, fan votes and all, but I’m so happy that the fans really came through, because I do want to be in this competition. I think Alan and I don’t want to cut our time short, like we want to go as far as we can. We’re having so much fun… The relationship we’re building, how much fun we’re having on the dance floor is truly something we just I think we had a fear in our hearts that it would end.”

Is it just me, or could Ilona and Alan be teasing a rumored relationship? Well, based on their antics during Thursday Night Football last week, we would not be shocked if this pair came out as a couple…

Nevertheless, to see where the pair goes from here, catch brand-new episodes of Dancing With the Stars Tuesdays — with the exception of Oct. 5 (aka Election Day) — via ABC or Disney Plus, with next-day streaming via Hulu. The remainder of the season is certain to be one for the books!

After receiving some not-so-stellar scores during “Halloween Nightmares Night” on Dancing With the Stars, it is safe to say Olympic rugby player Ilona Maher is not on the best with judges Bruno Tonioli, Derek Hough, and Carrie Ann Inaba (specifically the latter).

For those who did not tune in yesterday, Oct. 29, Ilona and Alan opened the show with a Tango to “Psycho Killer” by Miley Cyrus, earning them a score of 24 out of 30. Although straight 8’s sounds relatively successful, this was a stark contrast from her fellow DWTS contestants, who earned 9s and 10s all evening.

Carrie Ann was the judge especially eager to hand out 10s, giving every DWTS duo one aside from Ilona and Chandler Kinney. To make matters worse, Chandler and her professional dance partner, Brandon Armstrong, are undoubtedly the best pair on the show this season, making their failure to receive a 10 from Carrie Ann nothing short of shocking.

Naturally, DWTS fans were furious with Carrie Ann and her antics, taking to X to express their anger towards everything that occurred during “Halloween Nightmares Night” on Dancing With the Stars. Spoiler alert: they even accused the longtime DWTS judge of being anti-women:

As if things could not get any worse, Ilona and her professional dance partner (and rumored romantic partner), Alan Bersten, participated in a dance-off against NBA player Dwight Howard and his professional dance partner, Daniella Karagach, later in the evening, where they failed to receive the three extra bonus points.

Performing a Cha Cha to “Ghostbusters” by Ray Parker Jr. simultaneously, the judges praised Ilona and Alan for their terrific technique, but they threw a serious curveball when they crowned Dwight and Daniella the winners of the dance-off instead — HUH?

Naturally, DWTS fans were furious (once again), taking to X to express their anger (once again):

Nevertheless, Ilona and Alan managed to survive elimination thanks to the public vote, with The Bachelorette star Jenn Tran and her professional dance partner, Sasha Farber, getting sent home instead.

Despite continuing in the competition, “Halloween Nightmares Night” was a tough one for the Olympic rugby player regardless, causing her ers to take to X (with a more positive twist this time) to praise all that Ilona has accomplished on the show so far:

After all, she had an extremely successful routine during “Dedications Night,” earning a 32 out of 40 for her Rumba to “My Way” by Yseult. Additionally, she topped the leaderboard during “Disney Night” last week, earning a 25 out of 30 for her Jazz to “Surface Pressure” from Encanto, as well as additional points from the “Team Goofs” group dance (where she served as the team captain) — how impressive is that?

Now that she hit a speed bump during “Halloween Nightmares Night,” will Ilona manage to get out of her slump, surviving yet another week on Dancing With the Stars? To find out for yourself catch, brand-new episodes every Tuesday on ABC or Disney Plus — with the exception of Tuesday, Nov. 5, due to Election Day — with next-day streaming via Hulu as well.

After all, we need to see where her rumored romance with fellow DWTS contestant Danny Amendola goes from here. If the rumors are true, this would be one attractive couple!

Carrie Ann Inaba has been judging celebrity dancer-hopefuls since 2005 on Dancing with the Stars, but her career goes way beyond just giving scores to the show’s contestants

Inaba is a multi-talented entertainer who got her start at 18 when she won a talent show in Hawaii and consequently became a pop star in Japan (as one does). She lived in Tokyo for two years and released three singles: “Party Girl,” “Be Your Girl,” and “Yume no Senaka.” In an interview with People, Inaba shared that the experience was less than ideal. “It was horrifying. Being there I realized it has nothing to do with how artistic you are. Your face becomes a logo they sell.”

After leaving the J-pop world, Inaba ed the cast of In Living Color as a “Fly Girl” from 1990 to 1992. She was soon hired to perform a dance solo for Madonna’s 1993 Girlie Show World Tour provided that she shaved her head. “I thought twice about it,” Inaba itted to People. “But I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? This is Madonna!’ The tour had an impact on Inaba beyond teaching her some cool new moves. According to Inaba, Madonna was a stickler for punctuality and would fine dancers $100 if they were late to rehearsal, so Inaba is now chronically early for everything.

Inaba pursued higher education while building her career. She first attended UCI before eventually graduating from UCLA in 2000 with a degree in world arts and cultures. Before landing her spot on the judges in Dancing with the Stars, she had small parts in movies like Austin Powers in Goldmember and choreographed for reality shows like American Idol. In addition to Dancing with the Stars, Inaba was a co-host for the CBS talk show, The Talk until 2021 when she left for health reasons.

What is Carrie Ann Inaba’s ethnicity?

Inaba was born on Jan. 5, 1968 in Honolulu, Hawaii and is of Japanese, Chinese, and Irish descent. She has frequently spoken about her heritage, how it shaped her self-identity, and is a long-time er of CAPE, the Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment.

“As an Asian American young woman growing up in Hawaii, our beauty standards were all about natural beauty. The focus was not visual; it was about what your energy says about you. There is so much heritage and different culture, that there was no ‘one’ standard of beauty. In Hawaii, we would look at each other with wonder and excitement.”

– Carrie Ann Inaba to Ask Us Beauty

Per its website, Inaba ed CAPE’s Board of Directors in 2011.

In 2015, Inaba spoke with CAPE as part of its #IAm campaign. She shared the story of how she started her career as well as AAPI entertainers like Pat Morita and Nia Peeples inspired her to pursue a career in entertainment. “Seeing someone like that enabled me to pursue my dreams wholeheartedly and without fear,” she said of Peeples in particular, emphasizing the value of representation in media.

Inaba struggles with chronic illness and has been diagnosed with lupus, fibromyalgia, Sjögren syndrome, and chronic fatigue syndrome. She created a website, Carrie Ann Conversations, to start conversations about mental and physical health. You can keep up with Inaba by tuning into season 33 of Dancing with the Stars or by following her on her social media.

Dancing With The Stars season 32 has truly touched the hearts of the cast and crew of the beloved competition series (as well as viewers at home), and the semi-final was no exception.

During the November 28 episode of Dancing With The Stars, judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli were stunned by the performances from the five remaining couples — Alyson Hannigan and Sasha Farber, Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy, Ariana Madix and Pasha Pashkov, Charity Lawson and Artem Chigvintsev, and Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach — however, one performance in particular brought Carrie Ann to tears, itting that it was “stunning” and she “never wanted it to end.”

This performance was put on by the one and only Xochitl Gomez and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy, dancing an awe-striking waltz to “La Vie en Rose” by Lady Gaga. With Derek itting that former Dancing With The Stars head judge Len Goodman would’ve loved the dance, keep scrolling to see what the rest of the judges had to say after Xochitl and Val’s performance.

Prior to taking the dance floor, the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness actress explained, “This dance showcases how far we’ve come and how much I’ve grown this season… I’m really proud of this waltz. It’s really emotional for both of us.”

After delivering a dance that was true perfection, this emotion translated from Xochitl and Val to the judges seamlessly.

“I’ll tell you right now, Len would’ve loved that dance,” Hough gushed. “That was absolutely perfect.”

“This girl is an artist,” Tonioli added. “This girl became the rose in front of our eyes… There is dancing, and there is artistry. This is what you did, my love. You have an amazing future in front of you.”

Concluding with Carrie Ann’s comments, the longtime Dancing With The Stars judge was fighting back tears.

“You really touched my heart,” Inaba spilled. “It transported me to another world, and I felt like I never wanted it to end. That’s so rare after 32 seasons of watching dances and dances. That was stunning.”

Because of this show-stopping performance, Xochitl and Val topped the leaderboard with a perfect score of 60 out of 60, followed by Charity and Artem with a 59 out of 60, Ariana and Pasha with a 58 out of 60, Jason and Daniella with a 57 out of 60, and Alyson and Sasha with a 52 out of 60.

While it was assumed that Alyson Hannigan and Sasha Farber would be eliminated at the end of the episode due to their relatively low scores, hosts Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribero revealed that for the first time in the history of the beloved competition series, all five couples would advance to the finale. That’s right — nobody was sent home!

Julianne noted that the scores from the judges and votes from the viewers will carry over to next week to determine who will take home the coveted Mirrorball Trophy once and for all, so be sure to tune into the finale of Dancing With The Stars season 32 on Tuesday (December 5) from 8pm to 10pm ET/PT on both ABC and Disney Plus, with next-day streaming on Hulu, to see the final result.

Season 32 of Dancing with the Stars is right around the corner, and based on an oh-so telling Tweet, we already know which professional dancers will be a part of the cast. With an A-list group of pros — including the return of Jenna Johnson and the debut of Rylee Arnold — we seriously can’t contain our excitement for everything this fall has in store!

Just in case you are unfamiliar with the beloved competition series, Dancing with the Stars pairs professional dancers with a wide range of celebrities performing different styles of dance weekly to a of judges (consisting of Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough). The duo who receives the lowest combined total of points from the judges and votes from the audience is eliminated at the end of each episode, repeating week after week until one pair is awarded the coveted Mirrorball Trophy.

The only thing more exciting than the celebrities who will be competing this fall is the professional dancers that they will be sharing the stage with, and fortunately, we got you covered! Keep scrolling to find out which pros will be on season 32 of Dancing with the Stars.

Which professional dancers will be on season 32 of Dancing with the Stars?

According to a tweet posted by @dwtsreport — a known for their Dancing with the Stars spoilers — the seven female pros and the six male pros who will be hitting the ballroom this fall have been announced, and we could not imagine a better lineup.

  • Britt Stewart
  • Emma Slater
  • Jenna Johnson
  • Peta Murgatroyd
  • Daniella Karagach
  • Koko Iwasaki
  • Rylee Arnold
  • Alan Bersten
  • Gleb Savchenko
  • Artem Chigvintsev
  • Val Chmerkovskiy
  • Brandon Armstrong
  • Sasha Farber

While we have seen all of these dancers tear up the Dancing with the Stars stage in the past, one individual is new to the ballroom this season: Rylee Arnold.

Does that name sound familiar to you? If so, that is because Rylee is the younger sister of the one and only Lindsay Arnold, a Dancing with the Stars pro who we all know and love.

ing the cast at a ripe 18 years of age, Rylee will make history as one of the youngest pros to compete on the hit competition series, jumping straight to the professional dancer role rather than spending time in the dance troupe. While this will be her first time serving as a pro on Dancing with the Stars, she does have some experience with the beloved franchise, having served as pro on Dancing with the Stars: Juniors back in 2018.

The talented dancer was paired up with Miles Brown of Black-ish (with Lindsay serving as her mentor), and the duo placed second overall. Because of her phenomenal run on Dancing with the Stars: Juniors, it is clear that Rylee has some top-notch choreography skills – we can’t wait to see her put them to good use!

Which professional dancers will not be on season 32 of Dancing with the Stars?

While the list of professional dancers for season 32 of Dancing with the Stars looks absolutely incredible, there are quite a few faces that are missing from the star-studded lineup.

Despite her sister ing the cast this season, Lindsay Arnold will not be competing on Dancing with the Stars this fall for personal reasons.

In a TikTok video, Arnold talked about how returning to Dancing with the Stars was extremely different after she gave birth to her daughter, Sage, in November of 2020. Giving birth to her second daughter, June, in May of this year, the talented dancer shared why she will be stepping away this season for the sake of her family.

“I’ve just really been considering the option and seeing if it’s something we can fit into our life and seeing if it’s something that I want to do at this moment in time, especially considering the sacrifices that have to be made to go down there to do the show. It’s a huge time commitment, and so I’ve been thinking very heavily about it,” the 29-year-old prefaced.

“Ultimately this season is not gonna work out for me and my family,” Arnold announced. “I know that’s not the answer that probably some of you want to hear, but at the end of the day, it’s what is best for me and my family… I don’t want to separate our family. I don’t really want to put my kids through that right now. I feel like this time of their life is so precious and it’s moving so, so fast, and I want to cherish every single moment. I don’t want to miss a beat, and right now the thing that’s giving me the most fullfilment and joy is being a mom.”

Another female dancer who will be missing from the ballroom this fall is Witney Carson, who will be stepping away from Dancing with the Stars for a very similar reason as her co-star.

Also in a TikTok video, Witney shared the news with her 340k followers: “Okay you guys, I have a little announcement. This was not a decision that we took lightly at all. We definitely thought and prayed about it for a while, but we will not be doing Dancing With the Stars this season, and as much as that pains me to say, I just feel very at peace with it.”

“You guys know that family is the most important thing to me, and we just really felt that moving our entire family across the country right now was not for us. Leo’s at an age where he needs consistency and dependability, and he hasn’t had that ever since he’s been born. We are just really trying to give him that right now,” she continued ionately. “I also feel like I’m not quite mentally and physically ready for what the show calls for. I love dance. That is my ion, and so this was definitely a hard decision, but I’ll be rooting for everybody on the show [and] I cannot wait to watch… I definitely think this is just a break. I hope it’s not a goodbye, but for now we will be their number one cheerleader watching.”

Some other dancers who were not featured on the castlist for season 32 of Dancing with the Stars are Mark Ballas, Pasha Pashkov, Louis Van Amstel, and Cheryl Burke, among others. Despite some fan-favorite pros taking a break from the ballroom this season, we know that this season will be stupendous nonetheless!

Which celebrities will be on season 32 of Dancing with the Stars?

As of right now, the only two celebrities confirmed to hit the Dancing with the Stars stage this fall are Ariana Madix from Vanderpump Rules and Charity Lawson from The Bachelorette, and we are confident that their respective performances will be nothing short of spectacular.

Back in July, Ariana Madix was featured in a hilarious Instagram reel posted by Dancing with the Stars judge Derek Hough, which announced that she will be hitting the ballroom this fall – ultimately sending Vanderpump Rules fans into a frenzy.

“What a coinciDance bumping into our newest celebrity for @dancingwiththestars. Who’s ready to watch @arianamadix hit the iconic ballroom floor this fall? Watch live! On @abcnetwork or @disneyplus and the following day on @hulu,” Hough wrote.

In the comment section of the Emmy Award-winner’s post, Madix shared her thoughts about being the first official cast member for season 32 of Dancing with the Stars: “I’m beyond grateful, excited, and nervous all rolled into one! 🪩 Absolutely thrilled!”

A few months later, Charity Lawson was announced as the second official cast member for season 32 of Dancing with the Stars during the “After the Final Rose” episode of The Bachelorette, occurring just moments after the tear-jerking finale. After host Jesse Palmer teased a special surprise, Charity’s brand new fiancé — Dotun Olubeko — spilled the beans.

“I know you like to cut up, you like to dance, and you like to get down… and you know that we’ve talked about this, about how amazing this opportunity would be, and I am so happy to be the one to tell you that you’re going to be on Dancing with the Stars,” Olubeko gushed.

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, Charity shared her true feelings about hitting the ballroom this fall: “[I am] ready to learn it all, truly get my feet going… I am kind of nervous, but I think the whole thing is to go in with [an attitude that] this is going to be fun. Having fun with it kind of takes that pressure off. I mean, I don’t have to prove anything to anyone.”

While these two women have been announced as of the forthcoming Dancing with the Stars cast, we are still hoping that a professional athlete will be hitting the ballroom this fall. With no more football to keep him busy, our fingers are crossed that Tom Brady will be added to this star-studded list

Tune into Good Morning America on September 13 to see which celebrities will be competing on season 32 of Dancing with the Stars, as well as who they are partnered up with. Afterward, be sure to catch new episodes every Monday night from 8pm to 10pm ET on either ABC or Disney Plus – it is sure to be a season to !
