Chris Pratt isn’t perfect — heck, is anyone? The Guardians of the Galaxy star has experienced his fair share of public outrage for his links to the Australian Hillsong Church via the Zoe Church in Los Angeles. This family of churches has faced allegations of racism, sexual abuse, and homophobia, among other things. However, it’s also fair to say that he’s generally a good guy who means well.

With that in mind, we should listen to him when he talks about the good and bad people in Hollywood. As per People, he did precisely that at New York Comic Con’s for his new sci-fi comedy movie, The Electric State.

While Pratt wasn’t specific, he insinuated that he’d experienced several co-stars with poor attitudes during his time as a Hollywood star.

“There’s no room for sh***y attitudes there. You can’t have a bad attitude in moviemaking. It ruins everything for everyone, and then you don’t last long.”

He went on to point out that actors are privileged people who have no right to complain about doing such a fun and highly-paid job, saying, “It sucks when people have a crappy attitude. So when you show up on set, there’s no reason why you should… Like, ‘Oh, are you having a hard time living your dream? Is that tough for you today">Millie Bobby Brown. The 45-year-old said of his 20-year-old colleague “She’s just incredible. She was surrounded by all these animals… They would yell cut, and she’d go to her home, and she’s finding a home for, like, some pygmy goat to be adopted and organizing a U-Haul full of pit bull puppies to be taken to Indiana. Like, she has such a huge heart, such a love for animals.”

Well, no surprises there. Brown is renowned for her love for animals and apart from helping the ones in need, she is the pet parent to eight dogs, four cats, three goats, one sheep, one pony, one rabbit, and one donkey. And since Pratt was impressed by the Stranger Things‘ star’s big heart and appreciated a kindness that many write off as a nuisance, it says a lot about the kind of person the actor is himself.

The Electric State is based on Simon Stålenhag’s 2018 graphic novel of the same name and is set in an alternate 1994 where a toy robot approaches a young girl claiming to know her missing brother, setting her on an adventure to find her sibling.

Brown plays Michelle, the girl looking for her brother, in the movie, while Pratt plays Keats, a smuggler who befriends her. The impressive ensemble ing cast includes Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Woody Harrelson, Anthony Mackie, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Giancarlo Esposito, and Stanley Tucci.

The Electric State will hit Netflix on March 14, 2025.

When we first found out that Anthony and Joe Russo would be adapting Simon Stålenhag’s graphic novel The Electric State for a feature film, it was 2017, and so the world had yet to know them as the Avengers: Infinity War, Endgame, and The Gray Man brain trust. As a result, we probably didn’t think much of it.

But now, the Russos are synonymous with spectacle-driven franchise filmmaking, and given that the graphic novel is a slow, quiet, meditative musing on the human condition and the trajectory of it, this is an odd, worrisome pairing indeed.

And now that the first trailer for The Electric State has finally descended upon us, those aforementioned fears threaten to be realized in a (literally) big way.

Netflix princess Millie Bobby Brown stars as Michelle, a young orphan living in a future, post-war America ravaged by giant robots and an indifferent humanity, and who’s grieving her missing brother. One day, she meets a small, friendly robot who claims to know the location of her brother, and after later teaming up with a smuggler who looks a lot like Chris Pratt, the adventure begins.

Now, everything about The Electric State film adaptation is, from a production standpoint, out of control. The budget is reportedly $320 million (just shy of the $325 million low estimation of Infinity War‘s budget), and features such names as Ke Huy Quan, Stanley Tucci, Giancarlo Esposito, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Anthony Mackie, Billy Bob Thornton, Jason Alexander, Alan Tudyk, and Woody Harrelson. Together with the Russos at the directorial helm with a script from Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (also of MCU fame), “stacked” doesn’t even begin to describe The Electric State, and the epic spectacle inherent in the trailer only exemplifies this further.

The only problem? An epic spectacle is precisely what The Electric State doesn’t need to be. As mentioned previously, the graphic novel’s prestige isn’t predicated on giant robot battles or blockbuster quips designed to prevent tension rather than build upon it, but on thoughtful attention to how we’re losing ourselves in an unnatural world and the overwhelming-but-necessary emotions that come with such introspection. In this way, The Electric State film adaptation has not inspired hope with this trailer.

The Electric State Netflix

That’s not to say that we can bank on it being dead on arrival, though. The film’s apparent comedy stylings guarantee levity, which is an important tool when it comes to engaging with heavy themes and topics, and together with the action-packed scenes that help to comprise the film’s marketing promise, perhaps this is all a front to draw in mass audiences, who will then be confronted with a deeper film. This is precisely what Civil War — the second-highest-grossing film in A24’s history and also one of the most important films of 2024 — did with its marketing (sans the comedy).

And who knows? Even if The Electric State fails as an adaptation, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it won’t be a good movie. It’s just a matter of seeing what it accomplishes instead of a more faithful adaptation, and if that accomplishment justifies the use of this IP. Whatever happens, we’ll find out soon enough when The Electric State lands exclusively on Netflix on March 14, 2025.

‘I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Chris Pratt is a saint’: Another MCU star torpedoing his career live on stage lets ‘Guardians’ actor off the hook https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/how-is-zachary-levi-going-full-maga-helping-chriss-pratt/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/how-is-zachary-levi-going-full-maga-helping-chriss-pratt/#respond Mon, 30 Sep 2024 16:28:52 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1760963 Levi and let live, say former Pratt critics. ]]>

When the internet started to turn against Chris Pratt back in 2019, a viral tweet joked that Hollywood should just digitally replace all his roles with Zachary Levi — you know, that harmlessly loveable guy from Chuck and Shazam!. Fast forward five years, though, and that tweet has aged worse than Thor: The Dark World. Pratt is fresh off starring in 2023’s most profitable film, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and Levi looks in danger of being irrevocably canceled.

Over the weekend, Levi trended for all the wrong reasons when he attended a Reclaim America rally and publicly endorsed Donald Trump as his choice for president. The fact that the once-beloved actor — also known for voicing Flynn Rider in Tangled — has outed himself as a er of the tangerine tyrant has left his many fans crushed. What’s more, in an unexpected twist, it’s left these same folks doing their best Thanos impression and wondering if perhaps they treated Pratt too harshly.

Just like Levi, Pratt is another popular actor from the superhero sphere — they’re even both part of the MCU, with Levi playing Fandral in the Thor films — but there is one key difference between them. Like him or loathe him, Pratt has yet to staple himself to Trump in any way, shape, or form. So now many are demanding that people redirect their anti-Pratt ire in Levi’s direction instead.

It turns out he was the real Chris Pratt all along.

https://twitter.com/the_moviebob/status/1840392358979924202

The phrase “Chris Pratt is a saint” is not one we ever expected to see appear on the former bird app.

Of course, others aren’t quite following how Levi’s unpopular political opinions mean Pratt should be exonerated entirely. Many continue to speculate that Pratt secretly harbors similar allegiances to Levi, but that he is too smart to say the quiet part out loud. As one scathing tweet put it, “Chris Pratt is who Twitter thinks Chris Pratt is, he just has enough money to pay a good publicist who will tell him not to be Zachary Levi.”

The irony in this whole drama is that people once wished Levi had won the role of Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy instead — he’s known to have auditioned for the part and come close, before Pratt ultimately got the gig. It looks like James Gunn made the right call on that one, then, and he’s probably about to do so again over at DC Studios. It seems unlikely that Levi will get to play Shazam in the DCU, for a variety of reasons. Meanwhile, rumors abound that Gunn has some DC role for Pratt cooking up.

Sometimes all it takes is one word to transform your whole image. And no, in this case, that word isn’t “Shazam!” — it’s “Trump.”

The team that gave us the contentious action thriller The Gray Man is making another balloon-budget movie.

Joe and Anthony Russo are directing The Electric State for Netflix from a screenplay by their old Infinity War/Endgame buddies (and The Gray Man co-scribes) Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, based on the popular graphic novel of the same name by Simon Stålenhag. We imagine the reportedly over $300 million budget was partly employed in securing some of Hollywood’s biggest names for the film including Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, Ke Huy Quan, Stanley Tucci, and Brian Cox.

Brown plays Michelle, a 19-year-old girl traveling across the American West in search of her brother with the help of a robot sidekick. The visual aspect is arguably the most important in the post-apocalyptic war-ravished retro-futuristic world created by Stålenhag, so visual effects, practical and special, likely received special attention during and after production.

Or perhaps the Russos are just trying to maintain the tradition, seeing as it’s their own movie they’re dethroning in the podium for Netflix’s most expensive movies ever (The Gray Man held the honors previously with an over $200 million budget).

When is The Electric State coming out?

The Electric State is scheduled to hit Netflix in 2024. The streamer hasn’t provided a more specific release date yet. When Netflix first took the reigns of its distribution from Universal Pictures, the plan was to release it in theatres exclusively for a week in January 2024 before it moved to the streamer.

The sci-fi adventure film was shot between October 2022 and February 2023 in Atlanta, with additional reshoots taking place between March and April 2024.

Chris Pratt got the Marvel and DC fandoms talking recently when he claimed that he will “100%” be both returning to the MCU as Star-Lord and reuniting with former Guardians of the Galaxy helmer James Gunn in the newly minted DCU. In the process, Pratt seemed to cement long-held rumors that he’s all set to play one key DC character.

That character is, of course, Batman. No, wait, put down those pitchforks, I am in jest. Ever since Gunn released the full slate of movies and TV shows that will make up DC Chapter One: Gods & Monsters, fans have felt pretty confident that they knew who would be playing the title role in the Booster Gold TV series. A cocky, comedic-leaning superhero? That’s a character who’s got Pratt’s name all over him.

Except, despite Pratt only ramping up the rumors that he’s the DCU’s Booster Gold, there is another actor on the rise who would be even more perfect for the part. Enter Glen Powell…

Chris Pratt isn’t the DCU’s perfect Booster Gold, Glen Powell is

Image via DC

Glen Powell is having a moment right now. After breaking onto the scene in Top Gun: Maverick, the 35-year-old has followed that up with numerous high-profiles roles that run the genre gamut — he’s been in everything from romcom Anyone But You to disaster flick Twisters to Netflix action-comedy Hit Man. Clearly, one of the few genres he’s yet to tick off is the superhero movie. But the opportunity is surely right around the corner.

And, if it is, then Booster Gold is really the best bet for him. Sure, Pratt would suit the character well, but there is the danger that it would reduce Booster to just Peter Quill 2.0. On the other hand, Powell is primed to give his take on the superhero archetype and his immense popularity right now make it obvious that he would be an incredible asset to a newborn franchise that needs to draw in audiences like the DCU.

One-to-one comic book faithfulness is probably overrated, but, for what it’s worth, Powell is also such a dead ringer for Booster in the source material, what with his tousled blonde locks and face and body shape, that it’s almost uncanny. As for Pratt, it’d be much more fun to see him play a villain next time around — maybe even against John Cena’s Peacemaker!

To be fair, Powell has indicated that he’s not in a hurry to a comic book franchise, with The Hollywood Reporter noting in an interview that he’s looking to avoid “Marvel fare.” But, I mean, he didn’t say he wants to avoid DC fare? Plus, Gunn has a knack for convincing people you never expected to see in a superhero film to in the fun. We are talking about the man who got Bradley Cooper to voice a raccoon, after all.

I’m just saying, Glen Powell is the gold-standard Booster Gold we deserve. Let’s not settle for Booster Silver or Booster Bronze.

Longtime Chris Pratt stuntman Tony McFarr died at his home near Orlando, Florida on Monday, May 13, 2024, according to McFarr’s mother, Donna. He was 47.

McFarr’s cause of death has not yet been determined, according to TMZ, but Donna described it as shocking and unexpected. McFarr was otherwise active and healthy, his mother said. The Orange County Medical Examiner will release a toxicology report when testing is complete. It’s unclear if McFarr’s body will be autopsied.

When did Tony McFarr first double for Pratt?

via Chris Pratt/Instagram

Bearing a striking resemblance to Chris Pratt, McFarr became Pratt’s stuntman on Jurassic World in 2015. He went on to double for Pratt in engers, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Pratt and McFarr grew close over the years, and in 2016, Pratt mentioned McFarr in an Instagram post. “Love you buddy! Happy wrap!” Pratt’s message said.

Beyond working with Pratt, he did stunts on TV in Bones and The Walking Dead and movies like The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1, and Captain America: Civil War. McFarr was seriously injured in a fall while filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, TMZ reported.

What else did Tony McFarr do?

Later in life, McFarr opened Reel Bowls, a movie-themed poke and salad restaurant in Orlando, Florida. He shared “Reel Bowls is finally open for business!” on Instagram just a few months before he died. Otherwise, McFarr opened three restaurants in his lifetime, among them a place called The Fit Kitchen.

McFarr will reportedly be buried near his grandmother in Pennsylvania. He is survived by his mother, father, sister, and daughter. To date, Chris Pratt has not commented on the ing of his friend and colleague.

Did Chris Pratt just mansplain to Scarlett Johansson how to act with invisible dinosaurs? Just like the dinosaurs themselves, the Jurassic World franchise is proving deceptively difficult to kill off. Although we thought 2022’s Dominion was the poorly reviewed asteroid that would destroy this cinematic universe, it’s coming right back atcha with a new movie, this time starring Scarlett Johansson in place of Chris Pratt.

This, of course, marks the second time Pratt and ScarJo have shared a franchise, having come up through the MCU together as Black Widow and Star-Lord, respectively. The duo even both appeared in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame (although they didn’t share any scenes). All this is to say that Johansson is a massively accomplished actress when it comes to working on effects-heavy blockbusters, so she doesn’t really require Pratt to give her tips on how to, you know, do her job.

Still, the Guardians of the Galaxy alum has felt the need to offer her some advice on how to deal with invisible dinosaurs all the same.

Chris Pratt’s advice to ScarJo for her Jurassic World movie

jurassic world dominion
via Universal

While chatting with Collider to promote The Garfield Movie, his next attempt to invade every franchise one movie at a time, Pratt was asked if he had any pearls of wisdom to along to Marvel co-star Scarlett regarding her turn in Jurassic World 4 (or Jurassic Park 7, depending on your preference).

“I would say, understand that it’s pretty embarrassing to act opposite things that aren’t there, and have fun, enjoy it and let me know if you have any questions,” the actor responded.

While his intentions were obviously pure-hearted, it’s kind of ironic that Pratt is warning ScarJo that acting “opposite things that aren’t there” is “pretty embarrassing” given that she’s been playing that game longer than him. With apologies for spoiling the movie magic for anybody who didn’t realize this, but Johansson wasn’t really fighting aliens on the streets of New York in 2012’s The Avengers — which came out two years before Pratt’s first Guardians outing.

Personally, if I were Pratt, I’d have advised ScarJo not to let the director make the whole conclusion to your “dinosaurs attack!” trilogy all about boring locusts instead. And also to give your character some discernible personal growth. And to edit the movie properly so it doesn’t look like Laura Dern is talking to herself. No, I’ll never get over how bad Dominion was, thank you for asking.

Jurassic World 4, which has yet to even start shooting, is scheduled to hit theaters at the alarmingly impending release date of July 2, 2025.

The legendary Star-Lord will return. That’s what the very end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 promised (threatened?), anyway, even though Peter Quill’s MCU future has yet to receive any kind of official announcement. Maybe that’s because the cosmic outlaw himself, Chris Pratt, is planning to pull double-duty and cheat on Marvel with DC.

While speaking to ComicBook.com, Pratt made waves by confirming he’s “100%” confident that he will not only return to the MCU at some point as Star-Lord but that he will absolutely reunite with former Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn in the shiny, new DCU.

“Well, it probably make more sense that I would be Star Lord again,” Pratt said when asked about his Marvel and DC chances. “But anything is possible, and especially with James over at DC. Maybe there’s something that would be right over there. Maybe both. How about both? Let’s do both. I think it’s 100% both.”

In many ways, Pratt hasn’t told us anything we don’t know. As said above, Guardians 3 already intimated that there were further plans for Peter Quill while Gunn himself has declared that he fully intends to cast all his Guardians pals somewhere in the DCU — Sean Gunn, Nathan Fillion, and Pom Klementieff are already aboard. So he’s probably not going to get a slap on the wrist or angry phone call from either Gunn or Kevin Feige over his loose-lipped response.

Nevertheless, this will no doubt spawn fresh discussion that Pratt could potentially be playing Booster Gold in the hero’s self-titled DC project. The Jurassic World star has already directly addressed this possibility, itting that any offer from Gunn is a mighty tempting one.

Then again, if Gunn really wants to break the internet, and turn half the fandom away, in one fell swoop, maybe he should just go ahead and hire Pratt as Batman.

https://twitter.com/Ironone888/status/1790048502384320558

For a guy who juggled Guardians and the Jurassic movies for a decade and is now the voice of both Mario and Garfield, we really shouldn’t be surprised that Chris Pratt wants a piece of both the Marvel and DC pies. The GotG trilogy may be over, but Pratt is still planning to spread into, across, and beyond the superhero multiverse.

the days when a single post from an Avenger could break the internet? Well, Chris Pratt just took us on a nostalgia-fueled trip down MCU memory lane with his latest “illegal” behind-the-scenes video.

From the looks of it, the BTS clip is from the final battle scene in Avengers: Endgame. Judging from Chris Evans’ fake shock at noticing Pratt making the video and the fact that the studio kept the film’s production under tight wraps to protect it from those sniffing around for leaks, it is easy to deduce why it used to be “illegal.”

The video is a who’s who of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’ve got Dave Bautista (Drax), Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda), Chris Hemsworth (who seems to be battling an invisible swarm of flies), and even a rare sighting of Chris Evans (Captain America) channeling his inner SpongeBob SquarePants. Meanwhile, Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) appears deep in thought, script in hand, while Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), and other casts make brief but impactful appearances. The presence of Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), seemingly bored and chewing on something, adds a touch of humor to the scene.

But amidst the laughter and camaraderie, there’s a sense of bittersweetness that permeates the comments section.

Fans have spotted Chadwick Boseman, forever our Black Panther, trying to hide his face from the camera. It strikes a chord, knowing now what we didn’t know then – that Boseman was silently battling cancer even as he suited up to save the universe.

Furthermore, if Pratt’s video is a reminder of Marvel’s glory days, it’s also a stark contrast to the company’s current state which is a mess of mediocre movies and Disney Plus shows. Fans are mourning the glory days of the MCU when every film was a must-see event and the Avengers were still assembling.

One laments:

“When Marvel was actually worth a damn.”

While another adds:

It’s no secret that the MCU has been struggling to recapture the magic of its early phases, with a string of lackluster releases and a growing sense of superhero fatigue among audiences. Sure, there have been bright spots – Pratt’s own Guardians of the Galaxy films continue to be a blast, and Spider-Man: No Way Home proved that the MCU still has some tricks up its sleeve.

Tom Hiddleston’s performance in Loki TV series as the God of Stories was an interesting revelation, and the show’s exploration of free will and determinism was surprisingly thoughtful for a series about a guy with magic horns. Now we have Deadpool & Wolverine hanging tight to the expectation that it will revive the currently comatose MCU with the aid of Wade Wilson’s proper Marvel initiation and Wolverine’s return.

But for every hit, there seems to be a massive miss (we’re looking at you, Eternals). When your big climactic battle scene involves a bunch of CGI monsters that look like they escaped from a PlayStation 2 game, you know you’ve got problems.

Perhaps the most telling moment in the video comes from Sean Gunn’s Rocket stand-in, who quips, “I’m pretty sure I’m the most famous person here.” It’s a joke, of course, but it also says a lot about the star power the franchise is steadily losing. These were the biggest names in Hollywood, all gathered together for a common purpose. And now? Well, let’s just say the fandom would trade their souls to erase Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and M.O.D.O.K.’s minion buttocks from existence.

The MCU has become so focused on expanding its universe that it’s forgotten what made it special in the first place– the characters, the heart, and the well-written plots that left us wanting more.

That’s what makes Pratt’s video so special. It reminds us of a time when the MCU was more than just a franchise — it was a family. A dysfunctional, quippy, occasionally problematic family, sure, but a family nonetheless. And in a world where every new release feels like a calculated attempt to set up the next big thing, it’s refreshing to see these actors just being themselves.

So thank you, Chris Pratt, for this blast from the past. Maybe this video will be the wake-up call that Kevin Feige and co. need to get back to basics and what made us fall in love with these characters in the first place.

Say what you will about Chris Pratt, but the man knows how to spot a lucrative franchise. On top of starring in the multi-billion Jurassic World trilogy and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy saga, not to mention 2023 breakout The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Pratt made a bold move when he switched from cinema to streaming TV for 2022’s The Terminal List, one which proved to enormously pay off.

Although the action-thriller series received mixed reviews, it proved to be an ratings smash. So much so that Prime Video has not only greenlit a second season but also commissioned a spinoff. With author Jack Carr already having written seven of the book series this TV universe is based on, this is surely yet another franchise starring Pratt that can run and run, even if some scoffed at the idea of it becoming a success at first. Dark Wolf? More like Dark Horse.

For those eager to see what’s next for Lt. Commander James Reece and his crack squad of Navy SEALs, here’s all you need to know.

What is The Terminal List: Dark Wolf about?

Fans can expect a slightly different flavor from Dark Wolf when compared to The Terminal List as the spinoff is being pitched as an “elevated espionage thriller.” Set five years prior to the events of its parent series, Dark Wolf will focus on Special Operator Ben Edwards, who was a major ing character in the first season, as he ascends from Navy SEAL to CIA paramilitary operator. Along the way, Edwards will come face to face with the darker side of warfare and witness the human cost that comes with it.

Although not directly based on one of the novels, Jack Carr co-created Dark Wolf alongside The Terminal List creator and showrunner David DiGilio. Series stars Taylor Kitsch and Chris Pratt are also on board as executive producers, so even if it has a different tone and approach to its story, you can be sure that Dark Wolf will scratch the same itch for viewers thanks to the same talent working behind the camera. And in front of it too, as it happens.

Who is in The Terminal List: Dark Wolf?

With Edwards being bumped up to main character, Taylor Kitsch is of course the lead of this series, reprising his role from The Terminal List. Kitsch himself is almost the anti-Pratt, as she’s been searching for a franchise to call his own for years now, after a one-off appearance in the X-Men universe as Gambit and Disney’s John Carter going down as one of the most infamous box office flops of all time. So it’s about high time he got his own vehicle.

Surprisingly, Pratt will also be back as James Reece in Dark Wolf, just not as a lead this time. Other series regulars set to the franchise include The Umbrella Academy alum Tom Hopper as fellow SEAL Raife Hastings and Luke Hemsworth (Westworld) as CIA contractor Jules Landry. Hemsworth might just be the villain of the piece, as Landry’s described as hiding “a dangerously volatile personality beneath his muscled veneer.”

When will The Terminal List: Dark Wolf release on Prime Video?

the terminal list

No official release date has been provided for Dark Wolf as of yet, but it sadly it seems we’ll have to wait a while for it. With filming just beginning as of February 2024, the likelihood is that it won’t hit Prime Video until early 2025. This is going by the way things played out with The Terminal List season 1, which began production in March 2021 and didn’t hit streaming until July 2022.

The good news is that work on The Terminal List season 2 — which will adapt Carr’s second novel, True Believer — is due to begin soon after Dark Wolf completes filming. So a bit of patience will go a long way here as, while we’re lacking for new content for the moment, pretty soon a bonafide James Reece Cinematic Universe will be available to binge on Prime Video — proof that Chris Pratt is just gonna keep on Chris Pratting.

No one asked for it, but the Chris Pratt-helmed Garfield movie is headed to theaters anyway.

Pratt is a perfectly talented voice actor, to be fair. He shone in The Lego Movie and, despite low expectations from fans, he played a surprisingly good Mario in The Super Mario Bros Movie. We’d still prefer Charles Martinet, of course, but Pratt didn’t fudge up the role like so many of us expected.

He’ll likely play a perfectly good Garfield, too, but the fresh attempt at Jim Davis’ nearly 50-year-old franchise looks like one of its weaker entries. Considering the Bill Murray films exist, that’s a pretty harsh takeaway, but after watching the film’s first trailer it feels apt. This flick has plenty of saving graces — most of which are centered around its cast — but even careful editing can’t make this film look like much more than a cash grab.

All that being said, the film has plenty of marks in its favor. Sure, its got a pretty basic premise, but its voice cast is stuffed with mega-popular A-listers. Pratt is ed by Samuel L. Jackson, Nicholas Hoult, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Bowen Yang, all of whom have proven themselves massively talented over the years. Then there are the big names behind the scenes, which include two of the funnymen that brought us The Emperor’s New Groove. That movie holds up, so The Garfield Movie should have potential… right?

Its still hard to say if the film will prove my low expectations right or wrong, but with such a spectacular cast, it’s got a baked-in audience. Now that we have an official release date, a bunch of nostalgic Garfield fans know for sure when they’ll be rushing to theaters to experience the latest attempt to make a grouchy orange cat into a cinematic icon.

The Garfield Movie release date

The Garfield Movie was announced all the way back in 2016, and its been providing minor, occasional updates in the years since. It takes a long time to make an animated movie, and with the COVID-19 pandemic thrown in, paired with plenty of other roadblocks, The Garfield Movie is among many films that took close to a decade to complete.

By the time The Garfield Movie hits theaters, it will have been in production for a good eight years. Chris Pratt’s name was attached two years back, in 2021, and progress has been much quicker since then. If everything continues to go as planned, the film should actually arrive in theaters by summer of 2024. The Garfield Movie is currently slated to hit theaters on May 24, 2024, which leaves those Garfield-adoring masses with less than a year to wait.

Given the marvelous history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (pun intended), it won’t be surprising if the Avengers and the Guardians who carried the series on their back for more than a decade boast at least multi-million dollar bank s in real life. The MCU franchise is currently the highest-grossing film franchise with its worldwide box office revenue totaling $29.55 billion. But do its stars share an equally glorious wealth?

Aside from the OG Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy team enjoys unmatched popularity and love from fans. The team, mainly formed by Gamora, Drax, Groot, Rocket, and their leader Star-Lord, formally bid goodbyes to their GOTG journey after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2023. However, the stars behind the characters continue to mark their presence in Hollywood through other roles.

One of the MCU stars who has not let the end of his signature franchise stop him from being in trend is Chris Pratt, the man behind the charismatic and roguish spacefaring adventurer Star-Lord. In fact, he has pursued an impressive tactic to continue his journey in Hollywood: by playing voice roles. Chris Pratt has now become the voice of Garfield in 2024’s The Garfield Movie after voicing Mario in the second-highest-grossing film of 2023, The Super Mario Bros. Movie. So, how thick is his wallet now?

Chris Pratt’s net worth and career

From his comedic roots as Andy Dwyer on NBC’s Parks and Recreation 14 years ago to becoming the intergalactic hero Peter Quill in the MCU, Chris Pratt’s journey through Hollywood has been a rollercoaster of charisma and versatility. His 23 years of hard work in the industry has earned him a solid spot in the A-list, and how much do A-listers need to be worth? At least a million dollars. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Chris Pratt is currently worth $100 million.

Pratt started his acting career with the 2000 short film titled Cursed Part 3, playing the role of Devon. While people who saw his early projects would have never guessed he’d make it this big, Pratt always knew he would.

Pratt once affirmed this in an interview with EW, recalling the time his high school wrestling coach asked, “Chris, what do you want to do with yourself?” to which, Pratt replied, “I don’t know, but I know I’ll be famous and I know I’ll make a s— ton of money.” Well you have made a sh*t ton of money now Chris, and we’re glad you did.

But before jumping into his breakthrough role, Pratt also appeared in The WB drama series Everwood (2002–2006) and had ing roles in the films Wanted (2008), Jennifer’s Body (2009), Moneyball (2011), Zero Dark Thirty (2012), and Her (2013). And even after nabbing the star-making MCU role, Pratt broke box-office records as Owen Grady in the Jurassic World trilogy from 2015 to 2022.

Chris Pratt’s salary

For Guardians of the Galaxy, the movie that launched Chris Pratt to real fame, Pratt was paid only $1.5 million in 2014. However, it is justified since Pratt became a real star only after his first intergalactic mission in the MCU. As his popularity grew, his salary reached $5 million during Avengers: Infinity War (2018) for just a brief appearance (via US Magazine).

Forbes listed Chris’s yearly earnings in 2016 at $26 million, which included his $12 million upfront fee for starring in the sci-fi romance film engers alongside Jennifer Lawrence. A large part of the remaining $14 million can be owed to his Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 deal, which was eventually released in 2017.

Pratt played the double game: balancing the MCU and Jurrasic franchises together

In his last appearance as Peter Quill/Star-Lord in the GOTG franchise’s last film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Pratt reportedly earned $20 million (via SportsKeeda). From $1.5 million to $20 million for the same role, now that’s what we call success. Parallel to this, Pratt also earned an impressive salary of $5 million for Jurassic World in 2015, followed by $10 million for 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and $14 million for 2022’s Jurassic World: Dominion (via Distractify). This puts his total earnings from the Jurrasic franchise at $29 million.

Pratt’s series appearances aren’t any less of money-makers for him

Though Chris Pratt doesn’t have a long list of series under his belt, the one he has brought him enough bucks. He started his television career with a short appearance in the episode “Who Are You">Showbiz Galore, Pratt was paid $5 million for his excellent vocal work in the film. This paved the way for him to become the voice of the lasagna-loving cat Garfield in the 2024 film titled The Garfield Movie. Though his paycheck for the film hasn’t been revealed yet, it’s got to be at least $5 million. Someone’s wallet is getting thicker and thicker no?
