They have a good idea.]]>

Celebrities are processing the brutal results of the 2024 election, and although some have shared comforting statements on social media, one who has been acting since the 1980s shared how they were feeling in the early hours of Nov. 6 2024. Then they said they were sorry. p23y

Christina Applegate posted on X after the election: “Please unfollow me if you voted against female rights. Against disability rights. Yeah that. Unfollow me because what you did was unreal.”

Applegate replied to two X s who insulted her. After one incredibly sexist comment, she said “I will ruin you,” “Don’t f*ck with a disabled woman,” and added they probably voted for Trump. When an X said she was “whining,” Applegate told them, “If you don’t know who I am yet you follow me then f*ck off.”

Would anyone blame Applegate for what she wrote? Emotions are high right now and rightly and fairly so. She’s correct, there was a lot at stake for reproductive rights, and there’s no getting around that fact. And no one should be ignoring that, either. But we can all probably agree that tweeting and swearing at each other isn’t the way to go. And she must have thought so too because she posted, “I apologize. I’m still reeling and sobbing. But I’m not angry anymore.”

The actress shared an idea for necessary self-care right now: checking out some Bravo reality series. She called this plan “very soothing” and said, “I suggest you do the same.” On a lighter note, you know the world feels overwhelming and gruesome when Housewives screaming at each other feels like a calming balm to the soul. When challenging moments happen or the world feels particularly grim, I like to remind myself that many things can be true at the same time. You can be sad or anxious while being grateful. Applegate’s words are a reminder that your feelings are valid and you can feel them while keeping in mind the significance of what’s happening. But, as she says, you can also want a distraction.

Applegate has had a long journey with multiple sclerosis, which is what she was referencing in her X posts after the election. She recently spoke on her podcast about feeling pain in her hands and said on ABC News in March 2024, “I’m never going wake up and go, ‘This is awesome.'” It makes sense that the actress is thinking about disability rights. According to Forbes, when Kamala Harris ran in 2020, she made for disabilities part of her platform, and this is something she continued to be comionate toward in 2024. It’s painfully obvious that the candidate who won isn’t going to do anything for this group.

Applegate’s X posts drive home two important points: people are hurting and that needs to be acknowledged, but people also need to protect their mental health. That’s going to look different for everyone, and if Bravo’s not your thing, hopefully you can find some comfort in another pop culture obsession. It could be a good time to rewatch a ’90s sitcom, for example. I’m going to listen to Applegate and catch up on The Real Housewives of Orange County. Sure, there are fights, but also some humorous moments and genuine friendships (no, really, there are). I have one question, though: is it too early for some cheesy Christmas movies?

Christina Applegate’s battle with multiple sclerosis (MS) has gotten so much worse she could hardly get out of bed and go about her life without struggling with its symptoms. For the actress, the worst part about her condition is the different pain levels she gets to experience every day.

In the latest episode of her MeSsy podcast, Applegate revealed that “the sharp pains, the ache, that squeezing” have become a regular occurrence that she would find herself lying in bed “screaming” more often than not. Since being diagnosed with MS in 2021, her condition has progressed and now affects her hands.

“I can’t even pick up my phone sometimes because now it’s traveled into my hands, so I’ll, like, try to go get my phone or get my remote to turn on the TV or sometimes, I can’t even hold them. I can’t open bottles now,” she told her co-host Jamie-Lynn Sigler and guest Rory Kandel in the episode dated Nov. 5.

Both Sigler and Kandel, the owner of Rory’s Bakehouse, also struggle with the disease, and they itted that they could relate well with Applegate since their condition is also “manifesting as pain.”

When Kandel said that she “feels like I have knives in my stomach,” the Married… with Children star commented that “it’s the worst.” The bakery owner then asked Christina if she also experienced the same issue, and she replied, “Every single day of my life.”

Kandel noted that when the pain in the stomach starts to manifest, she couldn’t physically turn from side to side while lying in bed. This prompted Applegate to share that depending on the pain she’s feeling, she would prefer to “just lay in bed all the time.”

According to the Dead to Me actress, there are times when getting out of bed is also a struggle because she feels like the “floor is lava.” Whenever this happens, it gives her a reason to crawl back into her bed.

“I put my feet on the ground and they’re hurting, like, extraordinarily bad to the touch. I was like, yep. Gonna get back in my bed and pee in my diaper because I don’t feel like walking all the way to the damn bathroom,” the actress said before quickly backtracking on her last statement, “I actually don’t lay here and pee in my bed diaper. That’s just a joke.”

She then quipped, “But it’s like so freaking painful and so hard and so awkward.”

Since announcing her diagnosis in 2021, the Hollywood star has been very vocal about her struggles, and she has also not shied away from being seen in public despite her symptoms. Early this year, she attended the Emmy Awards with her daughter, Sadie Grace, and even presented one of the main awards.

In June, she itted in her podcast that she still finds it hard to accept her condition, telling Sigler, “I’m still sitting here like, ‘Boohoo, woe is me.’ I’m still mad about it.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, MS is a disabling disease primarily affecting the brain and spinal cord. It leads to permanent damage to the nerve fibers and causes a variety of symptoms, such as pain, numbness, weakness, vision problems, and trouble walking. The cause of the disease is still unknown, and there is also no known cure for it.

The Bundys are coming back for another round of hilarious family dynamics.]]>
<![CDATA[

Nostalgia is one of the defining currencies of the current age of TV and film. Everywhere you look, there’s a remake, reboot, sequel, or adaptation being released. ing the list is an animated reboot of Married… with Children, the classic sitcom that ran from 1987 to 1997.

Led by Ed O’Neill (who spent another decade making us laugh on Modern Family) the original Married… with Children garnered a sizable viewership during its run. Now, almost three decades after the series finale, an animated reboot series has been announced. Here’s everything you need to know about the Married… with Children reboot.

What to expect in the Married… with Children reboot 19414b

Married…with Children followed the lives of Al and Peggy Bundy and their two children Kelly and Bud. The sitcom was centered around their daily lives and hijinks, as well as those of their neighbors, Steve and Marcy. The news of a reboot of the show came via Deadline, where it was also announced that Alex Carter, executive producer of Family Guy, will be serving as the series’ showrunner.

Married…with Children had already been in the works for over a year at Sony Pictures Television, but was kept under wraps until all four of the main cast were confirmed to return. Therefore, this means that the reboot will star Ed O’Neil as Al Bundy, Katy Sagal as Peggy Bundy, Christina Applegate as Kelly Bundy, and David Faustino as Bud Bundy.

One of the many reasons that an animated series was chosen as a reboot instead of a live-action show was the flexibility of animated production. Christina Applegate announced in 2021 that she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and eventually shared that she will not be acting on camera again in 2023, in an interview with Vanity Fair. However, she was open to voiceover work, which contributed to the choice to revive Married…with Children as an animated series.

A leaked clip and synopsis from the animated series circulated in 2024. The synopsis detailed that the show will follow the Bundys as they move to a city called Dumpwater, Florida. Just like the original show, Married…with Children will include hilarious dynamics between the Bundys and all the hilarious characters around them. The synopsis states that the Bundys “get to know their Latin neighbors, war with HOA snobs, and yuck it up at their community pool.”

Deadline revealed that an animated reboot of Married… with Children was in the works in a 2022 report, but news on the reboot’s development has been few and far between since then. So far, there hasn’t been much in of new information about the progress of the reboot. No teasers have dropped, and the release window is still very much up in the air as of this article’s date of publishing. However, Christina Applegate confirmed that she was still attached to the project in a 2023 interview, alongside Ed O’Neil, Katey Sagal, and David Faustino.

Since the information on the reboot has been sparse, the network that will be hosting the animated series also hasn’t been revealed yet. However, Fox, Hulu, and Peacock are likely choices for networks that Sony would turn to for a new show.

Why was the actress walking with a cane at the Emmy's last night?]]>
<![CDATA[

Christina Applegate made a rare public appearance at the Emmy’s, the Dead to Me actress walked up on stage to a standing ovation from the audience, but some were surprised to see Applegate using a cane to aid her.

Christina came out to present the best ing actress in a comedy series award; which was won by Ayo Edebiri. She was escorted out by the evening’s host, Anthony Anderson, and when the audience stood up to clap for her as she walked to the podium she couldn’t resist making a lighthearted quip about her own illness, “You’re totally shaming me with disability by standing up. It’s fine.”

What is Christina Applegate’s illness? 11z2x

In 2021 the actress was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 49. This was during the filming of the third and final season of Dead to Me. The condition affects the brain and spinal cord which in turn can cause problems with vision, balance and coordination of limbs. In most cases, symptoms can be treated but unfortunately it’s a lifelong condition.

Multiple Sclerosis is most often diagnosed in people between the ages of 20 to 40, although it can be diagnosed earlier or later in Applegate’s case. The condition slightly reduces the average life expectancy and it’s also much more likely in women than it is in men.

Whilst Applegate was able to finish filming the hit Netflix dramedy she itted in her speech at the Emmy’s that it would most likely be her final ever role; the process of filming her parts had to be changed to accommodate for her MS, it was difficult, but Christina and the crew were able to work it out. She received a nod at the Emmy’s for her performance on the show.

Many fellow actresses and actors showed their for Christina, praising her decades-long career which started before she even turned one, in fact, she was just 3 months old when she made her television debut alongside her mother in Days of Our Lives. Of course, since then the actress has gone on to make a name for herself, appearing in TV shows and films like Married… with Children, and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.

Her IMDb page does still show one project which is in pre-production but it’s unclear if we’ll ever get to see Applegate in it or not. With little chance of her condition improving, it seems the actress has made peace with her diagnosis, she’s not let it stop her from attending events such as the Emmys, she’s been able to adapt and overcome and make a few jokes about it along the way.

Comedy has made up the core of television for so long it’s hard to a time before we were expressly watching things with the sole intention of laughing.

Netflix loves to act as supplier of some of the best comedies you may ever see, as one of its best ever and least known faces its final season with a stirring charge up the streaming service’s charts. Dead to Me, your time is now to say goodbye with a bang and challenge the big guns.

The third and final season of the black comedy has seen an excellent debut on Netflix, as the world clamors to find out how the grief-stricken story will end. Firing straight to the number four spot, it is behind only the extraordinarily heavy-hitters Manifest, 1899, and The Crown.

With over 30 million hours viewed in its first week, it has pipped previous favorites like Warrior Nun and From Scratch by a strong amount. Dead to Me’s first two seasons saw several Emmy award nominations, and it’s one of the best Netflix original comedies in a very long time.

For the completely initiated, the series sees Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini star as a duo of unlikely friends who meet in a grief group. Their bond is as incredibly heartwarming as the series is surprisingly funny; if you enjoyed Ricky Gervais series Afterlife, this is an excellent companion piece.

Other notable cast member is none other than James Marsden who gives an excellent dual-role performance which shows him as equal parts detestable and charming. The duality of man on display.

Dead to Me is currently available to stream on Netflix.

It's the end of the line for Jen and Judy. ]]>
<![CDATA[

Warning: This article contains full spoilers for Dead to Me season three.

After two and a half years away from screens, Dead to Me has finally returned to Netflix for its third and final season. It’s been an uphill battle to produce the acclaimed black comedy’s last run, as production was initially delayed due to the pandemic and then again once Christina Applegate was diagnosed with MS. At least we can now say for sure that everyone’s hard work paid off as season three is a truly exceptional season of television.

Dead to Me has never given its characters an easy time of it, but these 10 episodes are easily the most emotionally charged for both those on screen and those of us watching, all leading up to one heck of a series finale. For years now, fans have been wondering whether Jen and Judy would ultimately be able to avoid recompense for their (mostly understandable) misdeeds and get a happy ending. Well, now we know.

Want to find out how everything ended on Dead to Me? Or maybe you’ve seen the episode but still need to wrap your head around all the drama? Either way, let’s unpack the series finale.

Hoo boy, did season three really put Jen and Judy through the ringer. Following on from the car crash at the end of season two, Judy discovered some devastating news after going in for a routine scan: she had Stage four cervical cancer, a diagnosis that hit Jen just as hard as it did Judy as she couldn’t imagine life without her best friend.

Over the course of the season, then, the two women learn to come to with Judy’s illness — which tragically proves to be terminal — in their own ways. Meanwhile, Jen is blindsided by some very different medical news of her own — she’s pregnant with Ben’s child! You Ben, right? The twin brother of Steve, Judy’s ex that Jen killed, who ends up going to jail for the aforementioned hit-and-run incident.

As for the investigation into Steve’s death, that heats up when tenacious FBI agent Glenn Moranis comes to town and zeroes in on Jen. Everything comes to a head in the penultimate episode as a zen Judy, having come to with her death, “confesses” to Nick that she killed Steve. Nick and Detective Perez debate whether to report Judy’s confession to Moranis, only to find the FBI guy murdered.

So, the series finale begins with Jen and Judy deciding to run from their problems by spending a three-week vacation in Mexico, at Steve’s old beach house. On the journey, the pair are set upon by murderous Greek Mafia goons, but a fearless, surprisingly badass Judy manages to send them packing. As they reach Mexico, a montage recaps the precious, happy time the two women spend together.

This includes the pair discovering that Steve rebuilt Judy’s ’66 Mustang, the car that killed Jen’s husband Ted, kicking off the whole story in the first place. After a brief health scare, Jen realizes how much she actually wants her baby and finally tells Ben she is pregnant. In the same phone call, she learns of Moranis’ death, at the hands of the Greek Mafia, which has led the police to suspect them of killing Steve, at last letting Jen and Judy off the hook.

But sadly it’s not all good news and Jen is brought back to reality when, that night, Judy its she won’t be returning to Laguna and wants to live out the remainder of her time by the beach. The next morning, Jen wakes up to find Judy has walked off into the ocean and she understands that her best friend has gone.

Jen returns home, in Judy’s Mustang, just in time for Henry’s choir concert, which is decorated with the paper cranes Judy made during her chemotherapy treatment. Ben surprises her by showing up at the church, revealing his sentence was reduced due to good behavior. We then flash forward to after Jen gives birth and are introduced to her baby daughter Joey.

An additional flash forward shows Jen, Joey, her two sons Charlie and Henry, and Ben enjoying family time by the pool (the same pool Steve once drowned in). Although Jen’s life now seems to be in a perfect place, one last pang of guilt leads her to drop a truth bomb on Ben. “I have to tell you something,” Jen its, before the screen cuts to black.

All in all, the Dead to Me finale is an emotional rollercoaster that is the very definition of bittersweet. What’s more, it finishes on a killer cliffhanger as we’re left to ponder how Ben will react to finally finding out the truth about Jen’s crimes. To start again from the beginning, go watch the entirety of Dead to Me on Netflix.

She accepted a star on the Walk of Fame.]]>
<![CDATA[

It’s been a little over a year since national treasure and star of Dead To Me, Christina Applegate, revealed she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis – a neurological condition that disrupts how the brain talks to the body. Now the actress has made her first public appearance since revealing her condition to the world.

Applegate, 50, attended a ceremony in Los Angeles to accept a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, according to Us Weekly. Her Married… With Children co stars David Faustino and Katey Sagal gave speeches in honor of the actress, along with Dead to Me showrunner Liz Feldman, and co star Linda Cardellini.

Applegate was barefoot and took the stage with help from Sagal and a cane. Sagal said she ired Applegate’s resolve. “You bend but don’t break. Your humility and irreverence allows all of us to bend with you,” she said.

Applegate’s eyes were misty when she took the podium.

“I can’t stand for too long, so I’m gonna thank the people that I really need to thank,” she said, mentioning her family and agent. She also said her daughter Sadie was “the most important person in the world” and that she was “blessed every day” to have a daughter like her.

She also touched on her diagnosis. “Oh by the way, I have a disease. Did you not notice? I’m not even wearing shoes. You’re supposed to laugh at that,” she said.

Back in October, Applegate hinted that she had a big event in the works. “I have a very important ceremony coming,”she said, next to a picture of walking sticks. “This will be my first time out since diagnosed with MS. Walking sticks are now part of my new normal. Thank you @neowalksticks for these beauties. Stay tuned to see which ones make the cut for a week of stuff.”

Applegate has had various health struggles in the past and has been very open about it. In 2008, she had a bout with breast cancer. She had both breasts removed, as well as her ovaries and fallopian tubes in 2017. She started her own charity, Right Action, in 2009, which helps women who don’t have insurance pay for MRIs.

She told Variety that getting a star on The Walk of Fame means you are “leaving your mark.”

“This is something that is going to be there forever. And it’s something my daughter can go see when I’m gone.”

Dead To Me season 3 premieres Nov. 17 on Netflix.

It’s been two and a half years since we last checked in on the murderers we most like spending time with, but Jen and Judy are finally back in Dead to Me‘s third and last-ever season, which hits Netflix later this month. Life never runs easy for the two beleaguered best friends, as played by the winning duo of Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini, but things will be especially tense for the pair as we head toward the end of their story. Check out the thrilling first trailer for the season above.

At the end of season two, which dropped way back in May 2020, Jen and Judy were caught in a car crash. Yet although it seems Judy survives the incident intact, their troubles are hardly over as the trailer reveals that the remains of Steve (James Marsden), Judy’s ex who Jen killed, have been uncovered by the police, with the authorities seemingly circling the two women who have been dodging the consequences of their crimes for the longest time.

In other words, Dead to Me season three promises to deliver the usual mix of thrills, dark humor, and emotion that we have come to expect from the acclaimed comedy-drama. In fact, this batch of episodes will hit particularly hard given that they were such a labor of love to make, seeing as how production had to be delayed for five whole months once Applegate was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, with filming also being tough on the actress once it resumed.

So Netflix viewers should go in expecting a lot of gasps, laughs, and tears when watching Dead to Me season three, which lands on Netflix on Nov. 17.

The third and final season of Dead to Me, Netflix’s black comedy drama starring Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini as two women who become irrevocably intertwined in each other’s lives, and eventually, literal partners in crime, finally premieres this month after a two-and-a-half year hiatus.

But the road to wrapping up the story was not without its challenges. The series was renewed in June of 2020, however, production got pushed back until mid-2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Then, in August, Applegate revealed that she had been diagnosed with the autoimmune disease multiple sclerosis, which disrupts communication between the brain and body.

“Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS,” she tweeted at the time. “It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so ed by people that I know who also have this condition. It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going.”

In an interview with the New York Times, the 50-year-old is now opening up about the challenges of filming the series after her diagnosis. As she reveals, production shut down for five months while she began treatment — and nearly didn’t resume at all. In addition to gaining 40 pounds, Applegate says she now requires a cane to walk. “This is the first time anyone’s going to see me the way I am,” she told the Times.

“There was the sense of, ‘Well, let’s get her some medicine so she can get better,’” Applegate, 50, recalled. “And there is no better. But it was good for me. I needed to process my loss of my life, my loss of that part of me. So I needed that time.”

On why she resisted attempts to cancel the shoot period, Applegate explained:

“I had an obligation to [series creator Liz Feldman] and to Linda, to our story,” she said. “The powers that be were like, ‘Let’s just stop. We don’t need to finish it. Let’s put a few episodes together.’ I said, ‘No. We’re going to do it, but we’re going to do it on my .’”

Applegate’s sound grueling, as production tricks needed to be employed so she could appear standing. Her character rarely is seen entering a room in the season, and often had to be the one to open doors so she could lean against them.

“When Linda and I would do those scenes, it crushed us sometimes,” she lamented. Yet Applegate credits her close bond with Cardellini for giving her the strength to keep soldering on.

“She was my champion, my warrior, my voice,” she said. When Applegate hesitated to ask for a break or when she wasn’t heard, Cardellini stepped in. “It was like having a mama bear,” Applegate added.

Cardellini resisted taking too much credit for this. “I just wanted the best for the person that I love and care about and have the honor to work with,” she said.

Season 3 of Dead to Me premieres on Netflix on Nov. 17, and it’s sure to be an emotional rollercoaster for more reasons than one.

The comedy-drama has been dead to us since 2020. ]]>
<![CDATA[

It’s been so long since Dead to Me was on our screens that Netflix viewers would be forgiven for thinking the show was, well, dead to us. But, at long last, the streamer has now unveiled our first look at the acclaimed comedy-drama’s third and final season, while promising that the long-awaited conclusion to the Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini starrer will be with us in just under two months’ time.

As part of Netflix’s big Tudum event this Saturday, James Marsden was on hand to reveal a teaser for Dead to Me season 3, which offers a brief glimpse at what we can expect when the show returns. Helpfully, as season 2 landed way, way back in 2020, the teaser mostly recaps all the major events that have happened on the series to date before checking on Jen and Judy in the third season. Catch it below:

As the trailer reminds us, Jen and Judy’s friendship has managed to withstand a lot of craziness since the show began, with the two women guilty of killing each other husbands and then covering up their murders. At the end of season 2, the pair were involved in a shocking car collision with Marsden’s Ben, leaving Jen’s fate in the balance. Thankfully, this foul-mouthed first-look promises Jen is OK.

The reason Dead to Me has taken so long to get here is a combination of factors, as season 3 was initially held up due to the overall COVID crisis and then sadly due to Applegate announcing that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. After such a lengthy wait, here’s hoping the final season manages to conclude the crazy story of Jen and Judy in a satisfying fashion when it premieres on Netflix on November 17, 2022.

IChristina Applegate’s character Veronica Corningstone may have only been 72-percent sure she loved Will Ferrell’s Ron Burgundy, but it looks like the actress is 100-percent certain she will return for long awaited sequel: Anchorman: The Legend Continues. Following Ferrell’s in-character announcement on Conan that a sequel to 2004’s beloved comedy hit would indeed come about, the other three of The Channel 4 News Team – Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner – officially singed on as well. With Fred Willard also reprising his role as the clueless studio head, those who thought an eight-year hiatus would be too long to ensure a mass return can rest easy. If Applegate’s lovely presence isn’t enough to make you smell Sex Panther all over again, Koechner recently hinted at some of the sequel’s plot points, saying:

“It’s going to be centered around the next big change in news, after having females at the anchor desk. The next big event in the news was the cable news networks, the advent of 24-hour news.”

Now that the principle cast is locked up, there will no doubt be some great new additions to the line-up. As always, we’ll be sure to keep you updated on any developments. Anchorman: The Legend Continues gets classy again some time in 2013. Source: Celebuzz

Comedy has changed since the Farrelly brothers first started making their distinguished films. They were the pioneers of the gross R-rated comedies we see today but since There’s Something About Mary, even filthy movies have elevated in class. Judd Apatow’s films and The Hangover have grown beyond jokes about bodily fluids and visual gags, opening up the doors for new and old directors to try their hands at making audiences laugh. We live in a time of comedy that’s balanced between foul-mouthed but likeable characters and the nasty situations they get themselves into. The Farrelly brother’s recent attempts at maintaining genre supremacy may not have worked out the way they planned but Hall is a step in the right direction. While not without some exceptionally filthy humor the film isn’t rude or obnoxious enough to leave a bad aftertaste and is recommended for anyone looking to laugh. Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis play best friends who are happily married with beautiful wives but are a tad too unfocused, spending most of their time eyeballing other women or fantasizing about them. They don’t want to cheat necessarily but feel obliged to communicate with one another about how their lives are missing the excitement and wonder from their bachelor days. After their wives have enough of their male obsessions, Wilson and Sudeikis are both given hall es, freeing them from marriage for a week and allowing them to have sex with whoever they want with no repercussions. Now obviously this could never happen, but it’s a Farrelly brother’s movie and Joy Behar’s cameo (in which she convinces the wives to give hall es) is enough evidence that it could work in the movie. What makes Hall succeed is how the characters in the movie are represented. Wilson and Sudeikis are pathetic losers that have no social understanding outside of each other and they are completely unaware of this. Once they acquire the hall es they think that it will be the most sex filled week of their lives with women waiting to pounce on them and the confusion on their faces after utter failure makes them watchable. They are trying and it’s entertaining seeing them struggle for the lifestyle they were yearning for. The part that isn’t in the film’s trailer and ends up being the most surprising part of the movie is the focus on the other side of the marriage, the female viewpoint. Christina Applegate and Jenna Fischer are the wives of Wilson and Sudeikis, who have given hall es but figure out midway through that they are free from marriage for a week too. As beautiful women they don’t have to force men onto them, it just comes natural. Hall flips between the men striking out and the women hitting it off with a bunch of guys, it finds a balance that will appeal to both sexes. The cast works well with everyone getting a chance to show off their comedic attributes. Wilson and Sudeikis are naturals at improvising off one another and they are incredibly easy to watch as a couple of guys who don’t know what they just gave up. On the female side Fischer and Applegate are probably the most patient and loving wives in film history when it comes to their marriages but they don’t come across as clichéd versions of the nagging wife. They both have their moments of heartfelt emotion that gives their characters an added depth and a reason for why their husbands need them. The ing cast is always essential in a Farrelly brother’s movie and Richard Jenkins almost runs away with the movie as the men’s highly successful single friend. Unfortunately his screen time is limited and his Coakley character is necessary for this time of vulgar comedy. Same goes for the rest of the ing cast, who are not in the movie long enough to make an impact. The dynamic between Wilson, Sudeikis and their male friends makes you wish the film would go the buddy comedy route between them all. The scenes where they take “special” brownies to the golf course and when they prepare for the week ahead of them at Applebee’s are the standouts. Hall includes some outrageous gags that border on disgusting, strictly aimed for shock value. They aren’t cheap laughs or even stupid, they’re just incredibly forced, but they don’t ruin the overall experience. If you watch this movie with no reservations of being upset easily then you’ll end up laughing more than you scoff. The characters end up making the movie easy to associate with and watchable. It’s not the best comedy to be released in the last couple years but it’s a good start for the Farrelly brother’s in their quest to reclaim the throne of comedy.
