Democrats are now united behind Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, and a star-studded assortment of famous comedians held an open mic Zoom call to rally efforts behind the Democratic nominee. 4t21k

Dubbed ‘Comics for Kamala’, the event took place on August 8 and enlisted a starry lineup that included the likes of Patton Oswalt, Kathy Griffin, Jon Hamm, Kathryn Hahn, Ed Helms, and Jason Bateman, among others.

Ben Stiller, Nick Offerman and Cecily Strong also appeared during the standup-oriented event, while famous friends like Mark Hamill made their attendance known while promoting the event on social media. “I’ll be ing some of the funniest people on the planet in of [Harris] for President!” the Star Wars actor wrote on X. “I promise to just listen & not tell a single knock-knock joke.”

According to Variety, Offerman’s guest speaker role during the event included a parody song in which he described Harris’ opponent, Donald Trump, as a “spray-tanned tool” and said he and running mate JD Vance are “f***ing weird.” For her part, Hahn said on the Zoom call that “truly it has been Kamala all along,” as a reference to her character Agatha Harkness from WandaVision

While the ‘Comics for Kamala’ call was free, there were requests for donations throughout the event, and it’s estimated to have raised some $460,000 at the time of writing. It took place on the same day as an ‘Elders for Kamala’ fundraising event, which was also run over Zoom and was attended by Bernie Sanders and Jane Fonda, among others.

Over the past few weeks, a flurry of similar virtual fundraising events has been organized in of the Harris campaign, from the ‘White Women for Harris’ Zoom call attended by Connie Britton and P!nk to a ‘White Dudes for Harris’ event that raised $4 million dollars.

Hamill, Offerman, Fonda and Britton aren’t the only high-profile names who have endorsed Harris’ ascent, with celebrities like George Clooney, Cardi B, Barbra Streisand and Jamie Lee Curtis each ing the VP’s presidential bid in recent weeks. Heck, even a bunch of notable Republicans have publicly declared their intention to vote for Harris come November.

As for the celebrity endorsements of her opponent, the star power is a little dimmer, and housed somewhere between the D to Z-list. Amber Rose, Hulk Hogan and 50 Cent are among Trump’s most famous ers, and he has the comedian front covered with Rob Schneider and Rosanne Barr, both of whom haven’t really made anyone laugh in years.

Find out who has the highest net worth among the beloved actors from the hit TV show. ]]>
<![CDATA[

When it comes to shows that successfully connect with their viewers, The Office is in a league of its own. At the end of each episode, audiences had an unexplainable sense of belonging to a workplace they could love and be annoyed by, all while laughing, crying, and generally having a great time. The Office gave us the best and the worst boss ever, Michael Scott, the sweet relationship between Jim and Pam, and the immortal line, “Dunder Mifflin, this is Pam.” Even if the series ended a while ago, its allure is still strong. With the show’s increasing ratings came more fame for its stars.

After winning a Golden Globe for his depiction of Michael Scott, Steve Carell proved himself to be an actor capable of switching effortlessly between humor and drama. John Krasinski has gone from playing the lovable Jim Halpert to playing an action hero in Jack Ryan and is now branching out into filmmaking with A Quiet PlaceMindy Kaling, aka Kelly Kapoor, not only acted on The Office but was also a writer and executive producer, laying the groundwork for her successful career as a showrunner. These professional achievements have increased the actors’ net worth to unprecedented heights. So, let’s do a full office audit based on how much each cast member is worth.

10. Oscar Nuñez — $5 Million 1d3j65

First, there’s Oscar Nuñez, the ant we know as Oscar Martinez. He remained calm and collected in the middle of office mayhem, serving as a voice of reason for everyone. The character broke new ground in many ways, notably as one of the first gay characters on network television. But Nuñez’s talent doesn’t stop at Dunder Mifflin. Post The Office, he continued to ride the wave of success with several notable roles.

his hilarious turn as Councilman Rodriguez in Brooklyn Nine-Nine? Or his portrayal of Papi in the critically acclaimed series Mr. Iglesias? And let’s not forget his cameo in the hit Netflix show Never Have I Ever, created by fellow The Office alum Mindy Kaling. It wasn’t just his acting that brought in the big bucks. Nuñez has dabbled in reality television as a judge on The Masked Dancer and had a stint in the film The Proposal alongside Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.

9. Craig Robinson — $6 Million 42d

To fans of The Office, Craig Robinson’s portrayal of Darryl Philbin, the no-nonsense Dunder Mifflin warehouse foreman, was always a welcome change of pace. Whether advocating for warehouse safety, integrating himself into the office staff, or discreetly teasing his coworkers, Darryl’s moments were always entertaining. As a result of Robinson’s charismatic performance, the ing character Darryl swiftly became a series regular.

Robinson’s film credits include notable parts in comedies like Pineapple ExpressHot Tub Time Machine, and This Is the End. Robinson also fronts a band called The Nasty Delicious, and they’ve performed on shows like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He has also voiced characters in hit animated programs, including American Dad, and starred in various TV shows as the main character, such as Ghosted and Mr. Robinson, expanding his acting resume.

8. Ellie Kemper — $9 Million 735g4m

Known for her role as Erin Hannon on The Office, Ellie Kemper first appeared as a fill-in receptionist in the sitcom’s fifth season and later became a permanent cast member. Kemper’s portrayal of the innocent and naive Erin was endearing. There were numerous funny and touching moments on the show due to the contrast between her and the more pessimistic characters and because of her charming, quirky, and cheerful demeanor. Fans also responded well to her romance arcs, especially those involving Andy Bernard (Ed Helms).

After her stint on The Office, Kemper found significant success in other projects, further boosting her fame and net worth. Most notably, she played the title character in the Tina Fey and Robert Carlock comedy series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. She was nominated for multiple awards and won two Primetime Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance, which critics widely praised. Kemper has created a name for herself in film, appearing in box-office hits like Bridesmaids and 21 Jump Street. She has also authored My Squirrel Days, a collection of personal essays reflecting her life and career.

7. B.J. Novak — $10 Million 93g1b

B.J. Novak is a well-known actor, comedian, writer, and director who starred as Ryan Howard on The Office. While best known for his role as the ambitious and often ethically ambiguous temp turned executive, Novak also contributed to the show as a writer and director. Ryan Howard’s character development is among the most dramatic in The Office, transitioning from a quiet temp to a corporate executive before falling from grace and eventually returning to the Dunder Mifflin Scranton branch.

Novak’s achievements extend far beyond The Office, though. Among the films in which he has had a role are Inglourious BasterdsSaving Mr. Banks, and The Founder. He has also provided his voice for well-known animated films, including The Smurfs and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. His book, One More Thing: Stories and Other Stories, a collection of short stories, was a New York Times bestseller, and The Book with No Pictures, a best-selling children’s book that has been translated into more than 30 languages and sold over two million copies worldwide.

6. Angela Kinsey — $12 Million 75x4r

Angela Kinsey portrays Angela Martin, an often stern ant at Dunder Mifflin whose conservative and cat-loving demeanor added a lot of humor and personality to the series. Her on-again, off-again romantic connection with Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson) was a key storyline throughout the show’s nine seasons. Following The Office, Kinsey enjoyed success in a variety of other ventures, expanding her reach in Hollywood and increasing her net worth.

From 2016–2017, she co-starred in the Netflix comedy Haters Back Off with Colleen Ballinger (aka Miranda Sings) as Miranda’s doting and occasionally naive mother, Bethany. In addition, she appeared in such hit series as New GirlFresh Off the Boat, and Never Have I Ever. In addition to her acting career, Kinsey and The Office co-star Jenna Fischer created a podcast called Office Ladies. As a result of its popularity among The Office fanbase, this podcast was named the 2021 iHeartRadio Podcast Award winner for Best Ad Read.

5. Paul Lieberstein and Rainn Wilson — $14 Million 2uj54

Toby Flenderson, the mild-mannered and frequently beleaguered HR representative at Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton division, was played by Paul Lieberstein. Lieberstein was also a writer and producer before becoming a showrunner in season five. After The Office, Lieberstein continued to work behind the scenes, producing and writing for shows such as The NewsroomGhosted, and Space Force. He has directed episodes of The Office and The Mindy Project, proving his versatility in television.

Rainn Wilson, on the other hand, is best known for his portrayal of Dwight Schrute, the eccentric and beet-loving assistant to the regional manager (later regional manager himself) at Dunder Mifflin. Wilson’s portrayal of Dwight on The Office is widely regarded as one of the show’s high points, and the character’s outlandish actions and memorable phrases have made him a fan favorite. Wilson’s acting career has been fruitful outside of the show as well. He has guest starred on Star Trek: Discovery and Mom, and his film credits include Super and The Meg

4. Jenna Fischer — $16 Million 36222h

Actress and filmmaker Jenna Fischer is well-known for her performance as Pam Beesly on The Office. In 2007, Fischer received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for her portrayal of Pam, a receptionist turned office at Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton location. Fischer’s portrayal of Pam Beesly was honest and down-to-earth, lending an air of realism to the show’s typically heightened depiction of office politics. Pam and Jim Halpert’s (John Krasinski) romance was a central plot point throughout the series and a joy for many viewers.

Fischer’s wealth has grown due to her continuing success in the television and film industries following The Office. She played the role of Lena, a lady dealing with co-parenting after her divorce, on the ABC sitcom Splitting Up Together. Fischer has also been in films such as Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox StoryBlades of Glory, and Hall . Fischer also appeared in, produced, and directed The Giant Mechanical Man. Furthermore, Fischer and her The Office co-star Angela Kinsey co-host a podcast called Office Ladies.

3. Ed Helms — $25 Million 6y2b1f

In 2006, Ed Helms ed The Office cast as Andy Bernard, a cocky salesperson from the Dunder Mifflin Stamford office who is transferred to the Dunder Mifflin Scranton division. His persona, known as “The Nard Dog,” is notorious for his explosive temper, a cappella singing, and inept attempts at leadership. Bernard’s developing storyline in later seasons — including a romance arc with Erin Hannon (Ellie Kemper) — stood out. His comedic timing and musical talents gave viewers something new to look forward to.

His success in movies and television continued after The Office, adding substantially to his wealth. His performance as Stuart Price in The Hangover films, which were hugely successful at the box office, brought Helms widespread recognition. Additionally, Helms has been in box-office hits like We’re the MillersVacation, and Tag. Aside from live-action roles, he has also provided his voice for animation features like The Lorax and Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie. Helms has made guest appearances on several hit television shows, including Brooklyn Nine-NineArrested Development, and Comedy Bang! Bang!

She was nominated for a Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her work as creator, writer, and star of the hit show The Mindy Project. The comedy film Late Night, which she co-wrote and co-starred in, opened at the Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews. She also acted in the star-studded heist picture Ocean’s 8. In addition to her acting roles, Kaling has authored two memoirs that have become New York Times bestsellers.

1. Steve Carell and John Krasinski — $80 Million 2g3s3e

Steve Carell played Michael Scott, the regional manager of Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton office, who had good intentions but often made a fool of himself due to his lack of experience and social graces. Carell’s portrayal of Michael Scott earned him the 2006 Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy. After his time on The Office, Carell broke into the comedy and drama genres. He was nominated for an Oscar and gained widespread praise for his performances in films like FoxcatcherThe Big Short, and Beautiful Boy. 'National Lampoon's Vacation' is a beloved comedy franchise. Find out how to watch the franchise in the right order.]]>
<![CDATA[

National Lampoon’s Vacation is one of the most enduring comedy franchises of all time. What started out as a short story by John Hughes has turned into a series of films that are still being quoted and, in the case of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989), played every year during the holidays.

That being said, the National Lampoon’s Vacation timeline can get a little confusing. There are four original films, a spinoff/sequel, and a reboot/sequel that are all considered to be canon. If you’re planning on revisiting the franchise, it’s best to consult our rundown before pressing play.

So the obvious starting point is National Lampoon’s Vacation (1983). The original film, scripted by John Hughes and directed by Harold Ramis, is a masterpiece of chaos and good intentions gone wrong. It sees the Griswold family embark on a road trip to Wally World, and details the various, hilarious setbacks they deal with along the way. Clark and Helen (Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo) are the ones leading the charge, but their children, Rusty and Audrey, prove to be just as bad as they get older.

The next two films are National Lampoon’s European Vacation (1985) and the aforementioned National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. The former is a decent sequel but the latter is the best film in the entire franchise; making perfect use of the holiday setting and the love/hate dynamic between Clark and Cousin Eddie (Randy Quiad). They play out in the order they’re released, which makes binging the original trilogy a piece of cake in comparison to what follows.

Image via Warner Bros.

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation 2 (2003) is the monkey wrench that ruins the timeline. This made-for-TV movie was billed as a direct sequel to Christmas Vacation, despite being released after the fourth installment in the franchise, Vegas Vacation (1997). It makes no sense, and the subpar quality doesn’t help. Cousin Eddie takes center stage, and winds up stranded on a desert island after winning a free vacation in an accident. It’s not worth the time, but if you want to be a completist, it should be watched after Christmas Vacation.

Vegas Vacation comes next. It was the first installment not to have a writing credit by John Hughes or the National Lampoon’s moniker in the title, and truthfully, the absence of both does make a difference. That being said, it does have some worthwhile moments scattered throughout, and a surprisingly funny cameo by singer Wayne Newton. It seemed like Vegas Vacation would be the end of the line for the franchise, but it was given the soft reboot treatment with Vacation in 2015.

Vacation picks up with an adult Rusty (Ed Helms) deciding to take his family to Wally World, like his dad did in the original. The film adheres to the formula we’ve come to know and love, and it manages to wring some unexpected laughs out of it, whether it be through Rusty’s incompetence or his muscle-bound brother-in-law (Chris Hemsworth). Chase and D’Angelo also return as the Griswald parents.

So there you have it: a franchise that drags us through Europe, Chicago, and Las Vegas but ultimately starts and ends with Wally World. There’s a nice, full-circle structure to it all, so long as you ignore Cousin Eddie’s little sojourn in the South Pacific.

Actress Jennifer Garner is doing what she does best in her new project, the Netflix film Family Leave. This film uses a familiar body-swapping formula that Garner fans will from her previous hit movie 13 Going On 30

Family Leave is based on the children’s book Bedtime for Mommy, written by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and illustrated by LeUyen Pham. Garner plays Jess Walker, a mother who is struggling to keep her family close even as her three children grow up.

A strange incident occurs at Griffith Park Planetarium which causes nuclear elements to split and recombine. As a result, Jess and her teenage daughter CC switch bodies, much like the plot of Freaky Friday. Family Leave takes it a step further and also has Bill, Jess’ husband played by Ed Helms, and Wyatt, Bill and Jess’ teenage son, switch bodies. It’s a family affair of switching!

Jess and Bill how hard it is to be teens, while learning about all the modern problems teenagers today face. Meanwhile CC and Wyatt realize adulthood is not all it is cracked up to be. The Walker family are forced to work together to set things right — and take care of two year old Mia in the process.

McG is directing the film, and Victoria Strouse adapted the screenplay. The film is being produced by McG, Lawrence Grey, Ben Everard, Nicole King, and Jason Brian Rosenthal. Production is set to begin next month in Los Angeles.

Garner is happy that filming is taking place so close to home because of a tax grant from the California Film Commission. “As an actor, producer and mother, it’s impossible to overstate what shooting locally means to me and other families in this industry. I’ve been lucky to work with some of the greatest crew of my career here in California, and I’m looking forward to reconnecting with some of my home team friends on this project,” Garner stated.

A release date for Family Leave has not yet been announced.

'Rutherford Falls' season 2 doesn't make huge leaps from its strong first season, but the unique show is hardly more of the same. ]]>
<![CDATA[

Rutherford Falls, created by Ed Helms (The Office), Michael Schur (The Good Place), and Jana Schmieding (Reservation Dogs), is a gentle, character-driven comedy with a primarily indigenous cast that places Helms, the straight white guy, as the fish out of water. This Peacock original, which premiered in 2021, garnered numerous award nominations for its opening season and now has season two waiting in the wings.

Created by a team who have done their time on shows including Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Office, and The Good Place, this indigenous culture clash comedy promised something new. How many Native American land reclamation sit-coms have you seen? By exploring the inherent comedic potential of two opposing versions of history in contemporary society, the show brings a genuinely fresh perspective to television.

Over the course of that opening season, Nathan Rutherford (Helms) is introduced to audiences as a self-absorbed ancestor of colonizers in a small town who clings to his heritage like a life raft, constantly reminding the inhabitants that he is solely responsible for their very existence. Not only a contentious character for comedy but one which felt dicey in dramatic as well without the right actor.

Thankfully, with Helms breathing life into this deluded town figurehead, there were no such problems, as Nathan remained mostly harmless. Whether berating the mayor Deirdre Chisenhall (Dana L. Wilson) or locking horns with local business mogul Terry Thomas (Michael Greyeyes), there was a gentle quality pervading his performance.

Despite a few tonal missteps in the first season, Rutherford Falls proved to be a very engaging proposition. Co-writer Michael Schur brings a familiarity to these characters that was reminiscent of The Good Place, a high-concept show sold solely by the actors involved, and this series has a similarly cozy feel to it.

Much of that success came down to the pairing of Jana Schmieding (Reagan Wells) with Ed Helms, playing off each other for a majority of season one. As their two competing museums slash heritage centers battled for supremacy, amongst a slew of low-key emotional drama centered on bringing their community together. The drama combined with a plethora of personal epiphanies, which saw Nathan question his very identity, and end season one on a poignant note.

As Rutherford Falls mark two opens, this small town has undergone a transformation of its own, forcing the townsfolk to embrace another century. One that seeks to commercialize and exploit a ion for old Americana, as the Minishonka tribe makes good on their threat to take back their land.

Bobbie Yang (Jesse Leigh), who proved to be such an asset both dramatically and otherwise in that opening season, returns in a ing role while Josh Carter (Dustin Milligan) adds another dimension beyond his podcast – an American Powderkeg. However, despite the return of these regulars to Rutherford Falls, there is still a distinct lack of urgency to proceedings.

The fresh faces make waves, but ultimately this show neither gains nor loses momentum dramatically. Helms, Leigh, and Schmieding remain engaging enough, but Rutherford Falls feels very safe, and for a series that is sold on its comedy credentials laughs are sometimes very thin on the ground.

Similar to the first season, where certain scenes drifted closer to drama than comedy, there are a few instances where things feel a touch too serious. The main cast might seem more comfortable in their roles this time around, but beyond Nathan’s personal epiphanies carried over from the last season, mark two feels quite pedestrian. That is not to say Rutherford Falls is a mediocre show by any means, but rather that audiences are unlikely to feel any degree of progression, as everyone meanders along quite happily.

Rutherford Falls remains a progressive piece of thought-provoking programming deserving of its sophomore season where bold cultural discussions can take place on a global platform under the guise of light entertainment.

Although The Hangover Part II was nearly identical to its predecessor in of plot, the third entry in Todd Phillips‘ successful series is heading in a totally new direction. Or at least that’s what we’ve been told. Up until this point, very little has been said about The Hangover Part III and other than hearing something about a possible road trip for the gang, we really don’t know what Stu, Phil and Alan will be up to come May 2013. Earlier this week though, Phillips finally opened up to Entertainment Weekly, telling them that “The Hangover Part III is Alan’s story. He’s going through a crisis after the death of his father, [and] the Wolfpack is all he has.” He then went onto say that “the movie is a fitting end to this three-part opera of mayhem and bad decisions.” EW also provided more details, telling us that the film “brings the group together when something from the first movie comes back to haunt them.” As for what that “something” could be is anyone’s guess. So there you have it, it’s not a whole lot to go on but hopefully what we’ve heard is correct and not just a false promise. The Hangover Part II was an incredibly dull and lazy film, one that provided absolutely nothing new. It was so similar to The Hangover that it was infuriating. If The Hangover Part III is just another rehash moviegoers are going to be extremely upset. This is the final adventure for the Wolfpack so it better be something new and exciting. From the sounds of it, we should have nothing to worry about but until we at least see a trailer, I remain skeptical. Set to hit theaters on May 24, 2013, The Hangover Part III stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis. Check out an additional photo from the film below, which EW released along with the one above.

With The Hangover Part III currently in production, photos are starting to escape from the set and the newest bunch come to us via director Todd Phillips‘ Instagram . While there’s nothing too telling here, we do see a shot of the gang at a funeral (whose could it be? Maybe Alan?) as well as two men in pig masks (we’re not even going to try and guess what’s going on there). Aside from that though, the photos are pretty standard fare. Set to arrive in theaters on May 24, 2013, I can’t say I’m too excited for the return of the Wolfpack. The Hangover Part II was laughably bad and an exact clone of its predecessor. ittedly, the filmmakers have said that part trois will take the story in another direction but I remain skeptical. Supposedly, the film will take the gang to LA, Tijuana and then back to Vegas, which could be interesting. Plus, there’s also the inclusion of John Goodman, whose always a great addition to any cast. That and the excellent chemistry that Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis have are really the only good things going for the film. So who knows, The Hangover Part III may surprise us. But probably not. Check out the photos below and let us know what you think.

Get ready to howl. The misadventures of sousing trio Phil, Alan and Stu – or the “wolfpack” if you will – is set to continue in May 2013 as The Hangover Part III ramps up production. Though we’re not far enough into filming to get any actual footage or images, Warner Bros. has released some promotional art work for the threequel. Director Todd Phillip’s first two films in the series found immense financial success and command a hugely loyal following of young adults. Though when looking at the significant narrative slip-up that was The Hangover Part II, we’ll have to see if they can rebound and make us howl in laughter, rather than agony, with the third film. Expectations were high for “Part II” after the original defied the traditional box office trajectory to become one of the biggest sleeper hits of the decade and even garnered instances of immense praise. Needless to say, its successor was an unfunny, essential remake of the first and while it opened big, it did not experience the same legs or broad praise as its predecessor. This newly released teaser poster is rather straightforward but gets the point across: the gang will soon be back; get ready for more booze-fuelled shenanigans. Details are scarce as to exactly where the friends will find themselves (though shooting has been taking place in Mexico, Las Vegas and Los Angeles) or what snafu in which they will wind up. Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis Ed Helms and Ken Jeong will all return for The Hangover Part III along with ing characters Mike Epps (“Black Doug” from the original) and fan favourite Mike Tyson. Check out the promo art below.

Ed Helms is a very busy man and he doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Before returning (in a month) to work on The Office, he’ll appear in two new film. According to Deadline, Helms will shoot They Came Together for Lionsgate in July followed by a cameo in We’re The Millers. The first film, They Came Together will star Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler and will be directed by David Wain (Wanderlust). The plot follows a small-business owner who falls in love with her ant. Helms is set to play “Poehler’s character’s love interest and ant.” His second film, We’re The Millers, will star Jason Sudeikis with Rawson Thurber (Dodgeball) in the director’s chair. Not much is known about the plot but we do know that Helms will play Brad, “Sudekis’ boss and who may be hiding something nefarious and shady.” Helms’ recent movie credits include Cedar Rapids, Jeff, Who Lives at Home and of course, The Hangover (Part 1 and 2). Rarely does he disappoint and I’m sure his presence in both of these films will be welcome. The Office will resume shooting on the last week of July and The Hangover 3 is scheduled for a September shoot, meaning we will be seeing a lot of the talented comic in the year to come.

Jeff 5r2o44 Who Lives At Home Blu-Ray Review https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/blu-ray/jeff-lives-home-bluray-review/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/blu-ray/jeff-lives-home-bluray-review/#respond <![CDATA[Jeremy Lebens]]> Sun, 17 Jun 2012 20:06:35 +0000 <![CDATA[Blu-Ray]]> <![CDATA[Reviews]]> <![CDATA[blu-ray reviews]]> <![CDATA[Ed Helms]]> <![CDATA[Jason Segel]]> <![CDATA[Jay Duplass]]> <![CDATA[Jeff Who Lives At Home]]> <![CDATA[Judy Greer]]> <![CDATA[Mark Duplass]]> <![CDATA[Susan Sarandon]]> <![CDATA[The Duplass Brothers]]> http://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?post_type=os_blu_ray&p=136254 <![CDATA[
Jeff, Who Lives at Home is a touching dramedy that'll send you home satisfied. Ed Helms and Jason Segel provide two equally dramatic and comedic performances and The Duplass Brothers keep the film character driven and quick. ]]>
<![CDATA[

The Duplass Brothers continue to impress with another independent drama/comedy that manages to diversify itself and cover a lot of ground. Jeff, Who Lives at Home is a quiet comedy with two great comedic actors (Jason Segel & Ed Helms), but it’s also a personal family drama that deals with the general connectivity of life and destiny. Only The Duplass Brothers could conquer all of this in a short 83 minutes and yet they somehow do it with little error and a lot of result. Standing right now Jeff, Who Lives at Home is one of 2012’s best. Jeff (Jason Segel) is a grown man living in his mother’s basement. The stereotype couldn’t be much worse, yet he fits it effortlessly by sitting around all day, watching TV and eating junk food. When his mom Sharon (Susan Sarandon) asks him to go out and do a simple favor for her birthday Jeff flips out and has a childish tantrum. It’s funny though, because Jeff absolutely loves his mom and his family and cares very dearly about them. He’s one of those destiny believers. A guy that truly thinks every single thing in this world happens for a reason. Something like a wrong phone call could occupy the rest of Jeff’s day, which is exactly what happens. He gets a call for a man looking for Kevin and Jeff doesn’t live or know anyone named Kevin. The rest of his day consists of going out into the public and trying to piece together his life. Who is Kevin and what does he mean to Jeff? Jeff’s brother Pat (Ed Helms) is the complete opposite. Instead of openly accepting life and all that it has to offer he chooses to conform and settle. He’s a depressed individual in the middle of a troubling relationship with Linda (Judy Greer) and instead of sitting down and working things out with her he’d rather ignore the problems and buy a really expensive sports car. He’s also a complete asshole to his mom and brother. The two come together by chance (or fate?) during a weird chain of events that results in Jeff getting beat up by some kid named Kevin and Pat having some sort of business meeting at the local Hooters (real classy pal). After arguing briefly the two discover Pat’s wife Judy with another man. This takes them on a wild goose chase as they discover the true meaning of life lies deep in your ability to be happy, to love and to take control of your own destiny. Director’s Mark and Jay Duplass approach Jeff, Who Lives at Home with two different genres of filmmaking. On one hand the film is a quiet comedy that isn’t laugh-out-loud funny, but more of an indie comedy with funny characters that do things that tends to result in laughter. It’s light and yet still effective because of the talent like Ed Helms and Jason Segel. The two are known for their comedic work, Segel in his weird, almost always nude and drunk comedies and Helms in his obnoxiously safe and prioritized comedies. The two mix things up a little in Jeff, Who Lives at Home, with Segel still playing weird Segel, but a lot more stoned out and calm and Helms playing a much bigger dick, but within reason. The second genre the film tackles is that of the independent drama. Again, things play out pretty light, but when the mood gets thick you’ll have no problem adjusting and possibly even shedding a tear. Jeff, Who Lives at Home sneaks up on you with its agenda that’s revealed within the opening seconds of the film. It mentions how everything happens for a reason and that everything is connected, and yet when The Duplass Brothers connect it all at the end you’ll still feel surprised by how they manage to do so. There’s a secret agenda working in the background of the whole film, connecting each and every moment and it pays off during the last 20 minutes. It’s another example of how great the storytelling is on the indie front. The Duplass Brothers are no strangers when it comes to providing thoughtful comedy and well-scripted drama and Jeff, Who Lives at Home is just proof that they’re getting better and better with each film. The sincerity between the relationships and the openness on the subject of life and truly understanding how to live it is what got me and for that Jeff, Who Lives at Home is still standing strong as one of my favorites of 2012. Jeff, Who Lives at Home comes to Blu-Ray with a magnifying 1080p video transfer that captures each and every detail. The film was shot digitally and it benefits from that strongly. Texture and clarity in each and every scene really sticks out, whether it’s a shot of Jeff’s scruffy face or a look at the hot and sunny location of where the film takes place. Everything is sharp and strikingly beautiful. The 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track is a dialogue lover’s delight. The entire track is mostly centered on the film’s dialogue, but that doesn’t keep the track from remaining balanced and moody. The musical cues keep the back channels alive while the front channels split up the dialogue and interactive sounds. This another prime example of how to take full advantage of a lossless audio track for a film that focuses on talking and not so much action. For some odd reason the only special feature is an UltraViolet Digital Copy of the film, which can be redeemed via a code found inside the packing. There is no actual bonus features on the disc. Jeff, Who Lives at Home is a remarkably lovable film that will poke straight at your heart. The characters are great representations of real families out there and the way they intertwine and realize how much they need each other is not only great filmmaking, but splendid acting on behalf of Segel, Helms and co-stars Susan Sarandon and Judy Greer. The film opens subtle, but keeps on expanding until the touching finale that’ll win you over without a doubt. I have no problem recommending the disc based on the film’s quality and the Blu-Ray video and audio presentation, but it is worth noting that there isn’t an actual special feature to be found on the disc. It’s a bit disappointing, but the overall quality of everything else makes the title a must-own.

This review is based on a copy of the Blu-Ray that we received for reviewing purposes.

<![CDATA[

Line up those tequila shots, because it looks like The Wolfpack is headed to Tijuana, Mexico for their third raucous (and alcohol fuelled) adventure in The Hangover: Part III. According to The Toronto Sun, director Todd Phillips will do some shooting in the aforementioned Vegas Strip as well as Los Angeles before ducking south of the boarder (down Mexico way) for more filming. Set for a May 2013 release, The Hangover: Part III will reunite best buds Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis as they again find themselves in a spot of trouble. Many a fan of the first had significant issues with the shockingly dull and repetitive sequel (this writer included) but Phillips and co. stated shortly after the release of The Hangover: Part II that they would be going in a completely different direction for the third. Apparently, the plot of the threequel will follow Galifianakis’ character being itted to a mental institution, leaving his friends to bust him out. So, either that was just unconfirmed heresy or our lovable oddball will find himself stuck in a Mexican asylum – that’s bad news all round. Whatever the case turns out to be, hopefully they do stick to their promise of a unique third entry and don’t just recycle the amnesia-centric tomfoolery of the first two. As always, we’ll keep you posted when we hear more.
