Elizabeth Olsen has confirmed that she won’t be appearing in the Avengers installments, Doomsday and Secret Wars, as she looks to make career “choices outside of Marvel.”

The actress — whose portrayal of the Scarlet Witch was put on ice after the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness — made the revelation in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. While Wanda Maximoff has been a fixture of the MCU for over a decade, with appearances in Captain America, Avengers, What If..? and the Emmy-winning WandaVision, Olsen said the focus of her career moving forward won’t necessarily be defined by Marvel

“I didn’t realize this until about six years ago, but because Marvel and its influence takes up so much physical time and space in the world, it’s really important for me to make choices outside of Marvel that reflect my own taste,” Olsen said. She went on to add that an actor’s choice of which movies to work on is a reflection of their “taste,” which “does create the artist that you are.” Olsen, who earlier this month appeared to leave the door open for a Marvel return, said her moves to work outside of the MCU are indicative of where she’s at in her career.

“The opportunity to return to [non-Marvel] films is a reflection of the people I want to work with and my own personal taste,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. As for the specific projects that have replaced her Marvel roles, Olsen is currently promoting the science fiction thriller film The Assessment, while her role in an FX series is what took her away from filming Doomsday and Secret Wars. Those Russo Brothers-directed movies are set to begin back-to-back filming in London soon, and Olsen just left that city to shoot the TV show.

“I’m moving on to filming a pilot for FX [called Seven Sisters],” Olsen revealed, with the competing filming schedule confirming that she won’t be appearing in the forthcoming Avengers installments. Elsewhere in the interview, Olsen reflected on a non-Marvel role that she was forced to relinquish due to her being cast in Avengers: Age of Ultron. For those unfamiliar, Olsen was in talks to star in Yorgos Lanthimos’ film The Lobster back in 2015, but had to pull out of the project to work on the Avengers sequel.

“I was intrigued by [The Assessment] in the same way I was intrigued by reading The Lobster,” the actress reflected. Of course, Olsen’s absence from Doomsday and Secret Wars and openness to roles outside of Marvel does not mean she ruled out of the MCU forever. A few weeks ago, the actress said she felt “lucky” to have played Wanda for a decade and teased that she’d “love to do more” movies as the character, but her recent revelation means those movies won’t be the Avengers installments.

While Olsen is out, we do know for sure that Robert Downey Jr. is on board for Doomsday (who could forget that Comic Con reveal?), while Anthony Mackie, Chris Evans and Charlie Cox are also reportedly attached. Will have to wait and see how the film fares (especially in the wake of the Russo Brothers’ recent flop The Electric State) when Doomsday hits cinemas in 2026.

Did somebody say “Mother?” Because Elizabeth Olsen just might answer. It’s unclear exactly why, but most MCU cast are always willing to return. Is it the incredible pay? Or the chance to breathe life into classic comic book characters? Probably a little from column A, a little from column B.

No matter the case, Elizabeth Olsen isn’t quite ready to say goodbye to Scarlet Witch. For over a decade, we saw Wanda grow to be among the strongest individuals in the MCU. While her fate at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness put a huge question mark on her return, the actress isn’t done with Wanda’s story. And if Marvel execs know a thing or two about business, they’ll finally respond to the people’s call for a Scarlet Witch movie.

Elizabeth Olsen feels “lucky” playing Wanda

The fans aren’t the only ones who would love to see more Wanda. While speaking with Collider, Olsen reminisced about the decade she has spent playing the character. “It’s really unusual,” she said. “It’s something that’s been incredible. I assume it’s how people feel when they get to do a TV show for a long time. To be able to return to a character and continue to move them forward has been so much fun for me, especially because they gave me something like WandaVision to really blow it all up.”

Many fans feel the same way about Wanda’s growth throughout her time in the MCU. But that wasn’t all Olsen had to say. “I do feel very lucky that I’ve been able to play a character for over ten years of my life, and I’d love to keep doing more.” Olsen’s hunger for more Wanda Maximoff has definitely validated many fans. But, is there even a future for Wanda in the MCU?

Could Wanda return to the MCU?

Let’s take a look at where we last saw Wanda. To understand her actions in Multiverse of Madness, we have to first look back to WandaVision. The MCU’s first official TV show, still considered by many to be its best, followed the titular characters after the events of Endgame. Due to the grief of losing Vision in Avengers: Infinity War, Wanda put the entire town of Westview under a hex, forcing its citizens to live idyllic lives while she lived with a construct of Vision and their two children, Tommy and Billy, who she also created in the hex.

She returned in Multiverse of Madness after being forced to end the hex on Westview. As a result, she lost Vision again, as well as her children. However, in Multiverse of Madness she discovered that versions of her children existed in parallel universes. The movie ended with her sacrificing herself to destroy the last copies of the Darkhold. Even so, a flash of red power, just as Mount Wundagore was coming down, had fans hoping that she might have survived.

The MCU has had some tongue-in-cheek moments suggesting something similar. For example, in Agatha All Along, Agatha gives a non-answer when asked if Wanda is alive. Even with these hints, it looks like the MCU is done with the Scarlet Witch… or at least this version of her. Wanda’s actions in both WandaVision and Multiverse of Madness can’t possibly end with a mere sacrifice, right? Thankfully, with the multiverse now established, we can’t rule out ever seeing another variant of her. Whatever the case, just like Olsen, we would love to discover where else the character can go.

Listen up, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has a bone to pick with his former wife/sister Elizabeth Olsen over his mangled Marvel career https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/marvel/listen-up-aaron-taylor-johnson-has-a-bone-to-pick-with-his-former-wife-sister-elizabeth-olsen-over-his-mangled-marvel-career/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/marvel/listen-up-aaron-taylor-johnson-has-a-bone-to-pick-with-his-former-wife-sister-elizabeth-olsen-over-his-mangled-marvel-career/#respond Fri, 13 Dec 2024 15:00:28 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1809848 He didn't see this coming. ]]>

There’s two ways of looking at Aaron Taylor-Johnson‘s newest movie, Kraven the Hunter. Here’s the positive way: Years after being killed off as Quicksilver, the Bullet Train star has finally got his very own Marvel film all to himself. On the other hand, said film is the last entry in the world-renowned rubbish tip that is Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, which arguably only rubs salt in the wound of the MCU disposing of him so swiftly.

Taylor-Johnson’s press tour for Kraven is unsurprisingly a lot more polite and British than that undertaken by Dakota Johnson for this year’s earlier Sony effort, Madame Web, during which Johnson’s distaste for her own movie became abundantly clear. The Kick-Ass veteran may well be proud (somehow) of his involvement with Kraven, then, but even so, it’s obvious that he still holds a bit of a grudge that he was never asked back to play Marvel’s Pietro Maximoff.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has something to ask Elizabeth Olsen about why he never came back to the MCU

And, apparently, his on-screen sister (and, weirdly, wife) Elizabeth Olsen shoulders some of the blame. While reflecting on his career in a video interview with IMDb, the topic of Taylor-Johnson’s two-time working relationship with the fan-favorite actress came up. The 34-year-old Englishman gushed about his Age of Ultron co-star, even if he does have one big question for Scarlet Witch.

“Lizzie Olsen, phenomenal actor. Absolute star. And a wonderful person, wonderful human being, and I’n not just saying that. She’s really lovely,” Taylor-Johnson praised. “I was very fortunate. We played husband and wife in Godzilla and brother and sister in Avengers… I don’t know why she didn’t resurrect me, though.”

Aaron, you’re not alone in wondering that, although perhaps that’s a question best directed at Marvel Studios execs rather than Olsen herself. Wanda Maximoff’s powers are now at the point where she can cross the multiverse and even create twin sons from scratch, so there’s really no in-universe reason why his Quicksilver variant has never returned. The wildest thing is that Taylor-Johnson’s X-Men franchise counterpart, Evan Peters, has now made more MCU appearances than he has.

The good news is that there’s still an opportunity for Taylor-Johnson to at long last make an MCU comeback before the Multiverse Saga ends. Most notably in 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars, perhaps even for a team-up scene with Peters’ version. That certainly seems more likely to happen than a reprisal of Sergei Kravinoff, anyway, as Kraven the Hunter‘s poor box office projections and dismal reviews seem to have killed off the SSU for good.

Again, there’s a positive and negative side here. Being the face of such a major flop may damage his rumored James Bond chances… But at least that would give him lots of free time to return as Quicksilver whenever Marvel wanted him. Come on, Kevin Feige, do the guy a solid. You owe him big for exiling him to Sony Land in the first place.

Their comeback is no longer an "if." Whew!]]>

As part of the D23 event in Brazil, Marvel Studios’ president, Kevin Feige, has revealed the MCU’s exciting plans for the X-Men and the return of a beloved character everyone feared had retired.

The closing of the Infinity Saga represented the end of the line for multiple key Marvel heroes, including Robert Downey Jr.’ Iron Man, Scarlet Johanson’s Black Widow, and Chris Evans’ Captain America. Yet, the “Multiversal Saga” kept the trend alive when it supposedly killed Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. It definitely didn’t help when Olsen expressed discontent with the film’s plot and commented on how her character was treated. Along with this, her absence from subsequent projects, which extended to avoid even mentioning the Scarlet Witch, sparked fears that the actress was done with the MCU for good.

Of course, the success of Agatha All Along led to an uproar of disgruntled fans who wanted Wanda to return, followed by Olsen herself adding her voice to the crowd, hinting she wanted to return sooner than later.

It looks like everyone’s wishes will come true. In a revealing interview with Brazilian outlet Omelete, the Marvel Studios president has strategically shifted from “no comment” to a surprisingly candid acknowledgment of Wanda’s future in the MCU. In Feige’s words:

“We’ve recently had Agatha All Along on Disney Plus, and that series has been great for us. Since then, there have been a lot of questions about Wanda in fans’ minds… So all I can say is that we’re excited to find out when and how Scarlet Witch can come back.”

It’s settled, then. Feige is still playing coy about the how and the when, but the lingering “if” has been erased for good and there’s no longer any doubt the Scarlet Witch is coming back to the MCU. The timing couldn’t be better, considering the character’s comic book history with the X-Men, who’ll soon become the center of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Kevin Feige reveals when the X-Men will enter the MCU

In the same interview where he spilled the beans on the Scarlet Witch, Feige revealed an unprecedented level of long-term planning that extends well beyond Avengers: Secret Wars. Unlike the approach to Endgame, where the focus was primarily on reaching a conclusion, Marvel Studios now has a clear roap for its future.

“When we were preparing for Avengers: Endgame years ago, it was a matter of getting to the grand finale of our narrative, and then we had to start all over again after that. This time, on the road to Secret Wars, we already know very well what the story will be until then and beyond. The X-Men are an important part of that future.”

It makes sense that Marvel Studios is already planning what to do once the “Multiversal Saga” is done. Since Avengers: Endgame, the MCU has been getting a lot of heat from fans, who have openly denounced the lack of consistency regarding quality. It’s a fact that the MCU has stretched too thin while juggling too many movies and TV shows, which is why Marvel Studios is aiming to downsize in the near future. So, since the “Multiversal Saga” didn’t work out as planned, Feige is bringing the big guns and putting the X-Men at the center of the MCU for whatever comes after Avengers: Secret Wars.

That’s an exciting perspective. The X-Men have headed some of the best Marvel Comics crossovers, including House of M, centered on the Scarlet Witch. Plus, with Mutants roaming free in the MCU, it’s only a matter of time before we get the dreamlike Avengers vs X-Men movie we all hoped for since Disney bought Fox. You know what? I agree with Feige: Let’s rush to the end of the “Multiversal Saga.”

‘I don’t know if I can share’: Elizabeth Olsen already delivered the big hint at a Scarlet Witch return that Marvel fans have been waiting for https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/marvel/i-dont-know-if-i-can-share-elizabeth-olsen-already-delivered-the-big-hint-at-a-scarlet-witch-return-that-marvel-fans-have-been-waiting-for/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/marvel/i-dont-know-if-i-can-share-elizabeth-olsen-already-delivered-the-big-hint-at-a-scarlet-witch-return-that-marvel-fans-have-been-waiting-for/#respond Tue, 05 Nov 2024 18:37:11 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1783803 Dreams do come true. ]]>

Agatha All Along brought Ms. Harkness and her chaotic coven’s journey to a close, but this clearly isn’t the end of the (Witches’) road for this corner of the MCU. For starters, there’s one thing we’re all waiting on, and that’s the resurrection of the Scarlet Witch — something we were banking on happening in this very Disney Plus series following Wanda Maximoff’s demise in Doctor Strange 2. But, just like that promised “gay explosion” ending, it never came.

For those who need some reassurance that Wanda really hasn’t gone the way of so many needlessly deceased MCU female characters before her, it’s worth re-examining comments made by the Scarlet Witch herself, Elizabeth Olsen, in the wake of the Agatha finale. Fans have been waiting for some kind of indication that a Scarlet Witch movie is in the works at Marvel Studios, but one hasn’t been forthcoming. And yet Olsen already practically said as much back in 2023.

During a convention appearance last year (but which is now recirculating on social media), Olsen was asked what her dream scenario for a Wanda comeback would be. Intriguingly, Olsen pleaded the fifth on that one as she teased that she’s afraid to answer as Marvel’s prez Kevin Feige tends to make dreams come true.

“Well, honestly, if I were to tell you exactly what I would want I think I would maybe be spoiling something,” said Olsen, to much jubilation from the crowd. “Kevin Feige genuinely asks us what we want to do with the character and then he does it [Laughs] so I don’t know if I can share…I just want to come back.”

What makes Olsen’s reply so interesting post-Agatha is that we know the series’ creators had several strict no-nos enforced on them by the studio. Agatha wasn’t allowed to include Billy’s twin Tommy, his boyfriend Hulkling, and, most importantly, it had to leave Wanda’s fate in limbo. Obviously, Feige has big plans for the Maximoff family to come. While this could play out in either Vision Quest or the rumored Wiccan spinoff, the fact that Olsen was so careful not to get into specifics in the above 2023 Q&A heavily hints that she’s had talks about a feature-length return as the crimson sorceress. And maybe those talks have progressed further over the past 12 months.

Olsen has elsewhere hinted at how she’s not the biggest fan of Wanda’s sudden heel-turn in Multiverse of Madness, so we’d imagine that, if Feige has asked her what she wants from a comeback, it would be to back-track on portraying the Scarlet Witch as a villain. On the other hand, rumors have claimed that Wanda will be back for Avengers: Doomsday… but this time on the arm of Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

Maybe Olsen’s dream was to play Downey’s love interest, perhaps just to spite Gwyneth Paltrow, maybe it wasn’t. If only we had a way to see into the future to find out. Where’s Patti Lupone when you need her?

Elizabeth Olsen, Marvel’s very own Scarlet Witch, has cast her vote, and it’s not for Doctor Strange.

Cosmic Marvel shared a video on X of Olsen endorsing one of the presidential candidates in the 2024 race.

The video shows Olsen rocking a fiery red fairy dress that could easily double as something Wanda Maximoff might wear on a weekend off from casting spells. Clutching a trash can with an air of authority, Olsen delivered a short, straight-to-the-point message: “Don’t forget to recycle. Vote Kamala.” That’s right, witches. Olsen is throwing her weight behind Kamala Harris.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the dual-message brilliance here? Recycling and voting ⏤ both noble causes, now combined in one magical moment. It’s the kind of simple yet impactful message that only a superhero could deliver. Naturally, the internet went wild. Fans of both Olsen and Harris took to social media to react. X @JordiVanderwaal commented, “Olsen wearing Padam red telling people to not forget to recycle (taking out the blue-suit trash that was Donald) is iconic.”

Olsen’s statement had an impact even on Trump ers. One X shared some flattery: “The only woman who could make me switch up on Trump.” He may have been joking, but there is some truth in his words. This is why celebrity endorsements hold so much power. While many chant how “no one cares” what celebs think, their opinions can often sway, even influence, the direction of an argument. Although they can sound cheesy at times, most people don’t follow politics deeply enough to understand why voting for the right candidate is so important, and they need a role model to sway them in the right direction. And that’s exactly what Olsen is doing here.

Given Hollywood’s history of political involvement, Olsen’s endorsement is not really surprising. But the star’s creative flair is certainly setting a new bar for celebrity statements. No over-the-top speeches or heavily edited campaign videos here, just a whimsical fairy dress and a trash can.

But the video was not without negative , as is everything politics-related. People were quick to judge, calling the video cringe. Some even went as far as to call Kamala the trash can. But this is exactly what we expect from Trump ers: Hate and misogyny. To get to the Scarlet Witch, they will need more than words. We can’t imagine any Trump ers having power from the MCU universe on their side

The 2024 election is approaching, and Kamala Harris’ campaign needs all the help it can get to face off against the web of manipulation Team Trump has spun. But even though Harris is doing pretty well on her own and seeing massive crowds coming in for her rallies (while Trump throws his word salad at a steadily thinning crowd), the current Vice-President of America is sure to welcome the endorsement from one of pop culture’s most powerful figures (both literally and figuratively). Olsen’s recycling reminder encourages voters to “toss out the old” and embrace new leadership. Whether that will work or not is for the polls to decide.

‘LIKE MOTHER, LIKE SON’: Um, Elizabeth Olsen’s ‘WandaVision’ son now looks eerily like his Marvel mom and it’s raising a big MCU question https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/news/elizabeth-olsens-wandavision-son-got-ditched-for-agatha-all-along/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/news/elizabeth-olsens-wandavision-son-got-ditched-for-agatha-all-along/#respond Thu, 17 Oct 2024 12:32:35 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1770302 WandaVision's Billy grew up fast and we have questions.]]>

Warning: Spoilers to follow.

Julian Hilliard played the young Billy Maximoff in WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Now, as the actor enters his teenage years, many Marvel fans are asking the million-dollar question about the MCU hero.

In WandaVision, Hilliard and Jett Klyne play Billy and Tommy respectively – the sons of Wanda Maximoff and Vision on the show. Considering the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, not many fans gave them a chance of ever returning to the MCU. The multiverse, though, operates under its own set of rules and principles, so never say never to resurrections or variants. In fact, the only thing truly dead in this universe is Eternals 2 ever happening. What is alive, though, is the possibility of spoilers, so if you haven’t caught up with Agatha All Along yet, bookmark this page, and come back at a later stage.

The expectation around Agatha All Along was always that it would tie back into WandaVision in some way, especially considering the role Agatha Harkness played in pulling the strings in Westview. However, an unexpected and major twist occurred when Joe Locke’s Teen was revealed to be Billy Kaplan whose body had been inhabited by the wandering soul of Billy Maximoff – Wanda’s son!

This raised a few questions among the fanbase where some have asked why the MCU continues to do its child actors dirty and recast them.

One on X wrote: “It is very weird that they hire these kids for these roles, and then recast them as soon as they’re old enough to play the teen versions of their characters.” Rightfully so, some of the commentators have pointed out that the twist wouldn’t have worked with Hilliard in the role because Billy Kaplan is meant to be a new body while others urged the original poster to read more comic books to find out about the link between Wanda and Billy Kaplan.

There is a valid debate surrounding the question if Marvel Studios continues to do wrong by its younger actors by aging them up too fast or switching them out for new actors. Look at Cassie Lang as a prime example. Abby Ryder Fortson played the character in Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp; however, when Avengers: Endgame came around, Fortson was replaced by Emma Fuhrmann. The storyline explanation for the different actors makes sense since Scott Lang had been stuck in the Quantum Realm for many years, so Cassie would be much older and a teenager by that time. Fortson was still far too young to play a teen.

That said, it doesn’t explain why Fuhrmann was replaced by Kathryn Newton for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. According to Fuhrmann’s post on X, she found out the news via the media much like everyone else, writing: “I was as sad as you all were to hear the news.”

While it’s sad to read how actors often get the bad news at the same time as the rest of us, it doesn’t appear to be restricted to only the young ones. After all, famous MCU recasts include swapping out Terrence Howard for Don Cheadle as James Rhodes, Edward Norton making way for Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, and Josh Brolin replacing Damion Poitier as Thanos. Simply put, it wouldn’t have made storyline sense for WandaVision‘s Billy actor to play Billy Kaplan in Agatha All Along.

Indeed, say what you will about how obtusely obvious Teen’s identity was, or the show’s recent narrative struggles following that strong two-episode premiere; the scene in which Wiccan finally took the proverbial gloves off was metal as all hell.

And speaking of all hell, it looks set to break loose in a big way over the next four episodes. We now have two different sides to cheer for between Billy, and Agatha’s ragtag, thoroughly disarrayed coven. Moreover, the reveal of Rio’s identity is next on the list following Billy’s, all while the possibility of Mephisto lurks in the hopes and dreams of the fanbase.

But none of that would compare to the return of Infinity Saga veteran Wanda Maximoff, especially if she got to stand next to her long-lost son after all this time. Should that happen, we may pick up on a technical side-by-side recently teased by Joe Locke, first in the show, and now in a recent interview with Variety.

Apparently Locke teamed up with Jennifer White, the movement coach who worked with Elizabeth Olsen on previous MCU projects, in hopes of channeling Wiccan’s mother during the scenes involving magical choreography. The small glimpse we got of his powers in episode five, wherein he manipulated the minds of Jennifer and Lilia before blasting those two into a quicksand-esque mud pit, was indeed Scarlet Witch-coded.

Locke also offered some insight into the psychology of Wiccan, and how that plays into the gray-area alignment of not only the show’s major players, but the wider cast of Marvel’s mystical roster. He notes that Billy’s actions weren’t heroic, which may cause us to question whether or not Billy is a hero or not, as Wanda did previously in WandaVision and Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness (never mind the less-than-ideal real-world parameters that led to that second one).

Moreover, Agatha herself is understood as a villain, but Agatha All Along certainly isn’t treating her as outrightly evil. Regardless of how well or how poorly it’s been seized, the opportunity to focus on depth of character is absolutely present in the show, given that it moves away from traditional Marvel stylings/pivot points of good guys and bad guys.

That is, it’s not operating with those stylings for the time being. If the fan prophecy comes true and Bucket Hat Mystery Man from the trailer does indeed turn out to be Mephisto, there’s a good to fair chance that Agatha, Wiccan, and company are going to find themselves in “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” territory. All the while, the Salem Seven lurk in the shadows, ready to pounce at not even a moment’s notice, and we get the distinct impression that Nicholas Scratch isn’t quite as dead as Agatha thinks. This show, after all, is based on the Marvel comics.

Agatha All Along is currently streaming on Disney Plus, with new episodes releasing every Wednesday until the two-episode series finale on Oct. 30.

‘Lies lies and more lies’: Marvel’s newest Avenger swears he hasn’t met iconic MCU star yet, but literally not a soul believes him https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/marvel/lies-lies-and-more-lies-marvels-newest-avenger-swears-he-hasnt-met-iconic-mcu-star-yet-but-literally-not-a-soul-believes-him/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/marvel/lies-lies-and-more-lies-marvels-newest-avenger-swears-he-hasnt-met-iconic-mcu-star-yet-but-literally-not-a-soul-believes-him/#respond Tue, 15 Oct 2024 12:33:45 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1768661 Liar, liar, magic hands on fire!]]>

The MCU may have finally gotten its mojo back with Agatha All Along, but that’s still not enough to dim the hopes that a certain MCU alum will be making an appearance.

The WandaVision sequel has all the charm and excitement of its predecessor, while having an identity of its own without relying on past laurels. And one of the ways that Agatha All Along has kept fans interested was with the mystery of Teen’s identity. Now that the true identity of the mysterious goth teenager has been revealed, Joe Locke can finally be candid about his role in the show and the MCU at large. However, we’re not buying everything he’s saying.

Joe Locke claims he hasn’t met Elizabeth Olsen, and we’re not buying it

Episode 5 of Agatha All Along had more than a few shockers. From a beloved character’s death, to more insight into Agatha’s past. Finally, the Wiccan reveal was the icing on the cake. The episode, titled “Darkest Hour/Wake They Power,” revealed that Teen was actually Billy Maximoff, the grown-up son of Wanda, who we last saw as a kid in both WandaVision and the Doctor Strange sequel. The Wiccan theory was the most popular among fans for his identity, even though the show tried to misdirect us into believing that Teen was Agatha’s son.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Locke was finally able to gush about his character and the burden of keeping that secret for two long years. Locke also talked about working with Jennifer White, the same movement coach that Elizabeth Olsen had worked with for Wanda’s signature hand gestures. But when he pointed out that he has yet to meet Elizabeth Olsen herself, fans weren’t buying it. quick to call buying that story. One on Twitter cheekily tweeted, “Joe Locke also said he wasn’t Wiccan. Lol,” while another simply wrote, “Don’t trust him,” and a third jokingly replied, “Lies, lies and more lies.”

Wanda’s connection to her children led her to become the villain of 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and everyone’s biggest question at the end of WandaVision was “What happened to the kids"> Agatha All Along has an exciting second half in store for us.

‘That sounds ridiculous’: ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ could give Robert Downey Jr.’s Doom a very unexpected romance, and fans don’t know how to feel https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/marvel/avengers-secret-wars-could-give-robert-downey-jr-s-doom-a-very-unexpected-romance-and-fans-dont-know-how-to-feel/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/marvel/avengers-secret-wars-could-give-robert-downey-jr-s-doom-a-very-unexpected-romance-and-fans-dont-know-how-to-feel/#respond Thu, 10 Oct 2024 20:01:09 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1766779 Who does Doom love 3000? ]]>

Robert Downey Jr.‘s Doctor Doom is coming, but he’s not the only item on the fandom’s checklist of things Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars must deliver. There are a whole bunch of familiar faces from the MCU’s past who need to be squeezed into the next epic MCU two-part event alongside the metal-masked malcontent. Not least all of being Downey’s fellow OG Avengers.

Another one is Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch. Agatha All Along is certainly paving the (witches’) road for Wanda Maximoff’s much-anticipated comeback, and obviously fans are hoping for a big redemption for the anti-heroine after her dark heel-turn in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. If this latest rumor is to be believed, however, Marvel might have a much… let’s say, bolder idea up its sleeves. Anyone up for a Doom/Wanda love story?

Robert Downey Jr. and Elizabeth Olsen could be Marvel’s newest, most unlikely power couple

According to a new rumor that’s getting Scarlet Witch fans scarlet-faced with anger, Elizabeth Olsen will get a lot of screen time in both Avengers films. Why is that getting them angry? Because it’s claimed that Olsen will be sharing most of it with Downey, as it’s allegedly Marvel’s intention to resurrect Wanda in order to make her Doctor Doom’s love interest.

One X probably summed up a lot of people’s thoughts when they said, “I want wanda back, but absolutely not like that.”

Many are feeling bad for Wanda’s poor husband, Vision. As if killing him off wasn’t enough of a snub!

The predominant reaction seems to be that people just can’t see Olsen and Downey playing a couple, perhaps due to their age gap — Olsen is 35 and the former Iron Man icon is 59. A fair point, but it might blow these people’s minds to know that Vision star Paul Bettany is only six years younger than Downey, at 53.

And for WandaVision lovers, the potential for an intriguing love triangle, once White Vision is added into the mix, is sitting right there.

Others, on the other hand, are all for Wanda ditching Vision for Doom. As one fan — who probably didn’t enjoy WandaVision very much — put it, “Good, she can finally stop crying over the robot.”

A Doom/Witch romance might not be as weird as it sounds

Victor and Wanda, sitting in a Latverian tree, K-I-L-L-I-N-G. A Doom/Scarlet Witch romance has to be the most bizarre love story the MCU could dare pull, right? You would think, but actually, there is comic book precedent for this coupling. And, even if this is just a rumor, it’s easy to see how this storyline could be perfect to adapt at this point in the MCU.

In Avengers: The Children’s Crusade, Scarlet Witch has gone missing and her son, Wiccan, has set off on a quest to find her. He eventually tracks her down to Latveria, and finds his mother living in Castle Doom with the Fantastic Four’s nemesis! Even stranger, she’s there entirely of her own accord. Wanda has lost her memory and has genuinely fallen in love with Victor, who has likewise become smitten with her. Unfortunately for Doom, Wiccan shows up the day before their planned wedding. Needless to say, when the Avengers and X-Men follow in tow, their big day ends with a bang, but not wedding bells.

Wanda’s amnesia is a rather corny concept, but it’s not hard to imagine that being a consequence of her eventual resurrection. Likewise, the Russos brothers previously junked Thanos’ romantic side in Infinity War and Endgame, so they might wish to redress the balance by depicting Doom as a lovesick softie instead. Sure, Wanda could come back from the dead and re the Avengers ASAP… Or Marvel could offer a more complex arc for her over two movies as she wrestles with who she used to be and her newfound allegiance to Doom.

Or, you know, they could bring Gwyneth Paltrow back as an evil Pepper Potts variant who Doom has the hots for. Whatever works.

Does Agatha Harkness have a child in the comics? https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/marvel/does-agatha-harkness-have-a-child-in-the-comics/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/marvel/does-agatha-harkness-have-a-child-in-the-comics/#respond Thu, 26 Sep 2024 16:28:43 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1759291 “Agatha All Along” isn't exactly a carbon copy of the comics.]]>

Marvel Studios has free rein to adapt comic characters as it sees fit, and Agatha Harkness is one of those cases. Introduced in WandaVision, the power-hungry witch is a far cry from her comic counterpart.

Contrary to popular belief, Agatha has a more heroic past in Marvel. Generally connected with the Fantastic Four, Agatha was hired as a governess for Reed Richards and Sue Storm’s children. She reveals herself to be a witch and helps them with varying conflicts. But when it comes to her offspring, Agatha All Along seems to be more in line with comic canon.

The first clue occurs in episode 1 of the new Marvel series. Trapped in the fugue state that Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) left her in at the end of WandaVision, Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) struggles to endure her new reality in a Mare of Easttown-esque show. The similarities are undeniable, down to Agatha’s trauma over losing a child. In this new reality, Agatha has a room in her house belonging to a child who is obviously no longer there, with a plaque reading Nicholas Scratch. While this could be a sly reference to series like Mare of Easttown and True Detective: Night Country where female detectives need to have dead children, it actually has a deep connection to Marvel comics.

Who is Nicholas Scratch?

Anyone with significant knowledge of lore or even a cursory understanding of Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will recognize the name. Nicholas Scratch is one of the many names for the devil. However, Nicholas Scratch is a character that has been in Marvel canon for some time. Agatha may differ slightly in the comics, but that isn’t necessarily the case for her offspring.

In the comics, Agatha does have a son named Nicholas Scratch whose reputation precedes him. True to his moniker, Nicholas Scratch is a heavy-weight villain in the comics. Nicholas was raised in the secretive magical community of New Salem, Colorado, which was founded by the survivors of the Salem Witch Trials. Agatha would go on to leave the community so she could integrate with the human population, but Nicholas grew into his villainy. He ultimately takes over the leadership of New Salem and turns against his mother, whom he believes to be a traitor against her own kind. He would also go on to sire the Salem Seven, seen at the beginning of Agatha All Along.

The Marvel television series has twisted canonical events but may have plans to make everything come full circle. Nicholas Scratch has yet to make a corporeal appearance in the series — that we know of — but is still likely to have abandonment issues because of his mother’s dealings. Agatha is rumored to have traded her own flesh and blood for the Darkhold, otherwise known as the Book of the Damned. Should Nicholas Scratch make an appearance, we can confidently count on him being none too pleased about his circumstances — if that is indeed the truth of the matter. Agatha All Along has already had many twists, and fans should stay tuned to see what happens next.
