From 'Captain America' to 'Deadpool & Wolverine,' this is your chronological go-to guide for the best Marvel Cinematic Universe viewing experience. ]]>
<![CDATA[

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has become the most in-depth and successful franchise of all time during its 16-year run at the box office. While it began with Iron Man in 2008, for fans following the narrative, that’s not where the story actually begins. g192h

There are currently 34 movies in the MCU — soon to be 35 with Captain America: Brave New World — released in five phases. Phases One through Three, known as the Infinity Saga, collectively bring viewers closer to the arrival of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and its epic follow-up, Avengers: Endgame. Meanwhile, phases Four through Six, known as the Multiverse Saga, began in 2021 and will eventually bring viewers closer to Robert Downey Jr.’s ultimate MCU comeback as Doctor Doom in 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday and its subsequent multiversal showdown in 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars. : Kang is a thing of the past.

Phase Four began in 2021 with the Black Widow and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and continued into 2022 with three major franchise sequels: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Phase Five began in 2023 and also included four franchise sequels, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Marvels, and most recently Deadpool & Wolverine.

Following the success of Marvel’s Disney Plus streaming hits like WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki, we’ve received fresh entries like Hawkeye, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Secret Invasion, Loki season 2, and soon Agatha All Along. They aim to continue the budding tradition of bringing focused character studies to the small screen, but in light of criticism over reduced quality, Marvel has scaled back these productions a bit. Nevertheless, these shows tie into the larger Marvel universe, which is actually more of a multiverse now. However, those shows won’t be mentioned on this list, as this list pertains to feature films only.

There are numerous ways to enjoy Marvel films, including the order in which they were released, or drawn out of a hat at random, although that last option isn’t recommended for first-time viewers. However, in this article, we’ll be breaking down the chronological timeline of all films in the MCU so you can watch them in the correct narrative order. An at-a-glance lineup of Phases One through Three can be found below:

Screengrab via Disney Plus

Below is a breakdown of every MCU film in narrative-timeline order, all of which, save Deadpool & Wolverine, are available to stream now on Disney Plus. Thanks to Marvel’s official The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline, we now have a clearer picture of not only what is and isn’t MCU canon, but also whether the nuggets of information we’ve compiled over the years do, indeed, fit into the slots we’ve given them. Spoiler alert: they do.

Captain America: The First Avenger 47504y

Taking place first in the timeline, Captain America: The First Avenger provides the origin story for one of Marvel’s most popular heroes, Steve Rogers, played by the dynamite Chris Evans. This film mostly takes place in 1942 and showcases Rogers’ journey from a scrawny infantry soldier to full-blown Captain America who faces off against Red Skull.

Captain Marvel 2q673

Next up is Captain Marvel, which is set in 1995, much closer to modern times. This movie is the first in the timeline to explore space travel and intergalactic threats. As we are introduced to both Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and soon-to-be S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), the pair gets involved in the conflict between the Kree and the Skrulls, with surprising results.

Iron Man 5we3w

The third film in the timeline was the very first Marvel film to be released: Iron Man. The billionaire philanthropist-turned-superhero Tony Stark has his origin story told in this fan-favorite film. Thanks to its box office success and fans’ adoration of Robert Downey Jr.’s performance, the film ultimately kicked off the entire MCU franchise.

Iron Man 2 6t1j5d

Picking up shortly after the events of the first Iron Man, Iron Man 2 continues the story of the suited superhero now with his identity known to the public. Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke), the son of a scientist who previously worked at Stark Industries, is back with a grudge and creates his own weaponry with the goal of taking revenge for his fallen father. The film also introduces a soon-to-be Avenger in Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson).

The Incredible Hulk 3t3210

While many fans may choose to forego 2008’s The Incredible Hulk in their MCU binge given that it features Ed Norton in the role instead of Mark Ruffalo (who later became the official Banner), it’s still technically a part of the MCU timeline. This movie gives fans a unique take on the Hulk’s origin story and hints at more things to come in the closing credits.

Thor 3hy18

Thor’s initial big-screen debut took place in 2011 and gave fans their first look at Asgard and other realms via the Bifrost. This one finds the titular god traveling to Earth to defend the world from Loki and a Frost Giant threat. For many moviegoers, this was their introduction to the beloved character, played by Chris Hemsworth, and for many it solidly delivered.

The Avengers i2i64

The first crossover film in the timeline came with The Avengers, which was set at the conclusion of Marvel’s Phase One. The Avengers brought together Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, the Hulk, and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) to protect the Earth from Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and the Chitauri invasion. The movie also played a key role in introducing the Tesseract as the first of the Infinity Stones. These stones were ultimately the key to all future plans in the MCU.

Thor: The Dark World 2u6o32

The second Thor film in the MCU, Thor: The Dark World, gives us a closer look at Asgard, its inner workings, and the relationship between Thor, his brother Loki, and their father, Odin. The film also gives us insight into the second Infinity Stone, the Aether, which was wielded by the movie’s antagonists, the Dark Elves. Though it’s largely considered one of the less-impressive Marvel films, it serves its purpose and thankfully paves the way for a wonderful Thor threequel.

Iron Man 3 6x4gp

In Iron Man 3, Tony Stark deals with anxiety after experiencing the intergalactic invasion of the Chitauri. After diving into full damage control mode and assembling an army of suits, he’s forced to choose between being Iron Man and protecting those he loves. Meanwhile, he must also deal with the looming threat of “The Mandarin.”

Captain America: The Winter Soldier 1w5r39

Hailed as one of the best films in the entire MCU franchise, Captain America: The Winter Soldier introduces viewers to more of Captain America’s past and throws Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, back into the fray. The movie also reveals the hidden HYDRA threat still present among the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D that ultimately leads to its demise.

Guardians of the Galaxy 6q4w5x

When it was announced that Disney was going to bring the Guardians to the big screen, many were skeptical, but Guardians of the Galaxy turned out to be one of the best space films ever, let alone one in the MCU. It introduced us to Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), and Groot (Vin Diesel), an unlikely team that attempts to stop the plot of Ronan the Acc (Lee Pace) from using the Power Stone to destroy Xandar.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 3771d

Taking place shortly after the first film, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 gives us a closer look at Peter Quill’s backstory and heritage while also introducing a new member to the squad in the form of Mantis (Pom Klementieff). The story also dives deeper into the sibling rivalry between Gamora and Nebula (Karen Gillan) and shines a light on their relationship with their adoptive father, Thanos, which would pay off in just a few short films.

Avengers: Age of Ultron 682n13

Crossing over once again, the cast of the original Avengers film s forces to defend the Earth from the threat of Ultron (James Spader), a supercomputer developed to be a peacekeeping program by Tony Stark, which overrides its programming and now seeks to eliminate all mankind. In the latter half of the film, the Avengers get a few new additions in the form of Vision (Paul Bettany) and the Maximoff twins, Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Pietro (Aaron Taylor-Johnson).

Ant-Man 591j15

Ant-Man tells the story of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), a thief who is recruited by Dr. Hank Pym to assist him with stopping the plot of his former protège, who cast him away from his own company. During the film, Lang becomes Ant-Man after being gifted a suit and trained to use Pym Particles to shrink his size, giving him superhuman strength and the ability to control ants.

Captain America: Civil War 3p75p

While not an Avengers film by name, Captain America: Civil War brings most of the superhero cast together for a face-off over a disagreement on the Sokovia Accords following the events of Age of Ultron. Civil War was also used to introduce a few new characters to the Avengers’ roster, including Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland).

Black Widow 49f4r

Finally getting her own origin film after being part of the MCU for over a decade, Natasha Romanoff heads back to her roots in Black Widow, which launched earlier this year. The film introduced us to Natasha’s sister, Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), who fans got to see again in Hawkeye and who will undoubtedly be appearing again, possibly in a villainous team-up compliments of a certain character who appears in the post-credits scene.

Spider-Man: Homecoming 432h3h

Despite what the movie may have led you to believe, it does not take place eight years after The Avengers. Marvel finally addressed the snafu after years of sweeping it under the rug in the official Marvel Studios: The MCU — An Official Timeline book, confirming it was indeed only four years after the Battle of New York. Taking place right after the events of Civil War, Spider-Man’s MCU debut chose not to retell the hero’s origin story, instead giving us a coming-of-age film that finds Peter Parker juggling his duties as Spider-Man with the demands of high school. There are plenty of comic book Spidey villains teased throughout the film, but his biggest threat is the Vulture, menacingly played by Michael Keaton, who is apparently bad with math.

Black Panther 5g1r6t

Instead of an origin story, when we pick up in Black Panther, T’Challa has already taken on the mantle as the titular hero after the ing of his father in Civil War. This film gives viewers their first look at the inner workings of the afrofuturistic Wakanda, as well as an epic tale of personal and ideological rivalry between T’Challa and Killmonger (Michael B Jordan).

Doctor Strange 2l3v18

The first time we are treated to Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) in the MCU is in his self-titled film. The story explores the origins of Stephen Strange’s character and teases the ideas of multiple dimensions, cosmic beings, and time-traveling threats. As you’d expect, the Time Stone is also a crucial element of the film and only becomes more important from here on out. Other standout characters in the film include Dr. Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams), Wong (Benedict Wong), Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), and The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton).

Thor: Ragnarok 306w67

Directed by Taika Waititi and taking on a different style and tone than the previous Thor films, Ragnarok has a more comical personality while maintaining high-quality action sequences. The film addresses many of the loose ends following Age of Ultron and follows Thor and Loki as they attempt to stop their half-sister, Hela (Cate Blanchett) from taking over Asgard. The ending of this film offers a jaw-dropping lead-in to what quickly becomes the beginning of the end of the Infinity Saga.

Avengers: Infinity War 6d215i

The first part of the epic culmination of all the previous MCU films, Avengers: Infinity War finally gives us our first major introduction to Thanos (Josh Brolin), who has been working behind the scenes to gather the Infinity Stones with the goal of wiping out half of all life in the universe with a snap of his fingers. The movie takes place in 2018 and ultimately, leaves fans with a stunning cliffhanger that segues directly into Avengers: Endgame.

Ant-Man and the Wasp 6e5a4l

The sequel to Ant-Man, this film takes place at the same time as the events of Infinity War in 2018 and does a great job of telling its own story within the Ant-Man comic book canon. This one digs deeper into the relationship between Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) and her mother (Michelle Pfeiffer), and also introduces a mysterious new villain, Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen). Just like Infinity War, the final moments of this film leave viewers breathless for answers in anticipation of the impending Endgame.

Avengers: Endgame 61293i

The epic conclusion to over a decade of storytelling, Avengers: Endgame has everything fans could ever want in a Marvel film. It takes place in October 2023, five years after the events of Infinity War, and sees the remaining Avengers attempt to regain hope of defeating Thanos and restore what was lost after his infamous “Snap,” which was later renamed “The Blip.” In the closing act, Endgame boasts one of the most epic action sequences in all of cinema, blasting expectations wide open and forever changing the MCU as we know it.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings 6b33w

Shang-Chi is one of the latest heroes to the MCU, and in this first film exploring his character’s origin, we learn more about his role amidst the greater events playing out within the franchise. Alongside his friend Katy (Awkwafina), Shang-Chi is drawn back into the life he used to know and must face the father (Tony Chiu-Wai Leung) he thought he left behind. During the iconic bus fight scene between Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings operative Gao Lei, we’re shown the dates July 21 to 28 in a Jazz Blues Festival ment. Since Katy’s grandma also mentions the “Day of the Dead,” a festival resembling the Chinese Qingming Festival — which takes place in April — and the film itself spans two weeks, we can assume the movie takes place in April 2024. This would put it before Far From Home.

Spider-Man: Far From Home 6b2t2s

Picking up right after Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home addresses the events that took place during the previous film while also introducing some new faces and returning characters from the past. It takes place during the summer of 2024, eight months after The Blip. This is the perfect bridging point to close out Phase Three and enter Phase Four of the MCU — after watching Shang-Chi, of course.

Eternals 1s9i

With its many flashbacks telling the story not only of the Eternals themselves but also the history of the universe, it can be difficult to give this film a true place in the MCU timeline. That said, its present-day moments take place around the same time as Far From Home in 2024, likely just afterward given that the events of the film were not mentioned in the Spider-Man sequel. Fans and critics were largely split on the film (to put it mildly), except in regard to that colorful cameo by Harry Styles in the post-credits scene. Whether Styles will actually return to the MCU is another matter entirely.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. Logan took place in 2029, so Deadpool & Wolverine must also take place during or after that, meaning it should be at the bottom of this list. Well, no. The Merc with the Mouth’s first foray into the MCU actually occurs in 2024. We know this because after Happy Hogan rejects Wade’s request to the Avengers (on March 14, 2018, on Earth-616) the time stamp on the screen tells us we jump six years into the future — back on Earth-1005 — which would place the film in 2024. And because we see Wade celebrating his birthday and he’s said in the comics that he’s a Scorpio (on the cusp of a Libra, thank you very much) — and because Deadpool & Wolverine showcases a decent amount of fall foliage — we can safely assume the film occurs in October 2024. As for why Earth-10005’s Wolverine is already dead at the beginning of Deadpool & Wolverine when Logan’s death shouldn’t have occurred for another five years — well, it’s likely that Wade jumped forward in time using the TVA’s TemPad. That, or we’re just going to file the mistake away with all of Marvel’s other embarrassing timeline errors.

Spider-Man: No Way Home 6f1f57

Spider-Man: No Way Home takes place immediately after its predecessor, Far From Home around Nov. 2024. The film brings Peter Parker on the most mind-blowing adventure of his life ⏤ which, unfortunately, no one but he will . The film saw him grapple with everything from losing his Aunt May, to facing off against villains from completely different universes. It also led to Peter finding an unexpected brotherhood with alternate versions of himself, perfectly brought to life by Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in tear-inducing appearances that will stand the test of time.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness 561g47

Benedict Cumberbatch’s return as the title character in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness picked up after the events of No Way Home. It saw Strange deal with the implications of multiversal travel while facing new friends and foes, some of whom created serious trouble for him (ahem – Wanda). Wanda’s future was thrown into flux after she was presumably killed off in the movie’s final moments, but she is rumored to return in a Disney Plus spin-off series, which may or may not happen since Marvel subtly announced that the Earth-616 version of the character is canonically dead. Strange, too, received a cliffhanger ending, something we hope will be addressed in the rumored Doctor Strange 3.

In the meantime, you can rest assured that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness takes place after Spider-Man: No Way Home, which takes place right around the events of Hawkeye, which takes place around Christmas 2024.

Thor: Love and Thunder 4h62a

Thanks to Disney Plus, we now know that — in the eyes of Marvel Studios — this film takes place after Doctor Strange 2. It also takes place after Ms. Marvel, which is believed to take place around Sept. 2025 because of the school’s homecoming dance. However, in Love and Thunder Jane Foster’s eppendorf vial’s tag includes the date April 30, suggesting it takes place in the beginning of 2025. Unfortunately, since we don’t know exactly when Thor and Jane broke up, the God of Thunder’s comments about their breakup happening 8 years 7 months and 6 days before the movie doesn’t exactly paint a clear picture either. Our best bet is to just assume Love and Thunder takes place in April 2025, especially when looking at the next MCU installments on the timeline.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever 373f4w

According to Black Panther Wakanda Forever producer Nate Moore, we have a place in the timeline to slot Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Moore says that this film takes place alongside the events of Thor: Love and Thunder, around the start of 2025, so for all rewatching purposes you should be able to enjoy either film first. This placement would make a lot of sense, since neither film directly affects the events of the other. Secret Invasion, on the other hand, almost had us questioning the timing of things when our favorite CIA from Wakanda Forever was revealed to be a Skrull (that was all put to rest in the season finale, though).

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania 2p265m

For those who are sticklers for dates, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania takes place during the start of 2025, like Wakanda Forever. How do we know this? A news clip in Wakanda Forever mentions Scott Lang’s book tour, and because book tours don’t last entire years, Quantumania definitely takes place before The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which occurs later that year during Christmastime, which also means it takes place before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, Disney Plus messed with the timeline when it decided to place Quantumania after The Guardians Holiday Special, which it most certainly is not, resulting in MODOK-sized canon headache, if you ask us. It wouldn’t be the first time Disney Plus goofed with the MCU’s timeline, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as the time Quantumania was accidentally erased from Phase Five. (Don’t worry, it’s not).

The Marvels g4h6j

Ms. Marvel provides us with a pretty good guestimation where The Marvels takes place on the MCU timeline. Because the Disney Plus series is believed to take place around Sept. 2025 and Kamala Khan’s body-swapping problem doesn’t go unaddressed long, The Marvels likely takes place before 2026, which means it comes before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Carol Danvers’ intergalactic team-up with Captain Rambeau and Kamala to defeat the Kree general Dar-Benn in the highly-anticipated sequel to her billion-dollar predecessor, Captain Marvel, also happens to be the shortest movie in MCU history. Should any information in the movie, which will premiere in just a few short days, contradict this entry, we will revise it ASAP.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 6x4o5f

It’s hard to give Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 an exact place on the MCU’s timeline since it is unaffected by previous films and has little effect on the overall MCU storyline. However, it’s safe to say that this intergalactic, twisty-turny threequel takes place in 2026 since it occurs after the events of The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special in Dec. 2025. As a rule of thumb, here’s every MCU movie you should watch before starting Vol. 3.

What goes up...]]>
<![CDATA[

Yesterday marks one year since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 released to cinemas, one year since we saw the swansong of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most beloved found family, and one year since comic book movie juggernaut James Gunn bid Marvel farewell for the more fantastical pastures of DC.

To the surprise of no one, however, Gunn’s Guardians memories remain as fresh in his head as they were when he first started making them back in 2012, when he was hired as director and co-writer of 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. And perhaps it’s just because he’s a veteran tweeter at this point, but the heartfelt sentiment in his recent tribute post comes out in full here.

In the tweet above, Gunn was all too happy to reflect on the “wonderful journey with wonderful people” the he took during his time as the Guardians gaffer, referring to his fellow creatives on the films’ sets as “family,” people who had each others’ backs, and as people that he well and truly loves and misses.

Fans happily ed in on the heartfelt fanfare, recounting their own memories with Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, and the rest of Gunn’s colorful cast of characters who remain the centerpieces of some of the MCU’s finest work to this day.

Between gearing up the future of DC’s next (and hopefully best) foray into live-action entertainment, getting the ball rolling on 2025’s Superman movie, and being subject to the bad mojo of the less-savory side of Zack Snyder’s fanbase, Gunn has more than earned a moment of fond, even teary-eyed reflection, and one can only hope that the magic he captures in Superman and beyond isn’t dissimilar to that of the Guardians trilogy.

All three Guardians of the Galaxy movies are streaming on Disney Plus. Superman, meanwhile, is due out in theaters on July 11, 2025.

Why does it feel like we've seen this movie already?]]>
<![CDATA[

Last year gamers were spoiled for content on TV and in the cinema; at last, we got some good adaptations of our favorite titles, such as the Last of Us and Super Mario Bros., proving that it is possible to translate a game to the screen. In fact, we’ve had a pretty good run for five years or so with Pokémon and Sonic movies too, but can we safely say the video game to movie curse is broken? Well the next movie to put that to the test would be Borderlands, and let’s just say it’s received a lukewarm reception so far.

I don’t want to be a negative Nancy — actually, yes I do, I love complaining about things of minor importance, and nobody can stop me. Anyways, I’m judging this entire movie based on the trailer alone, and it’s giving a real Guardians of the Galaxy vibe; they’ve got the whole dysfunctional family trope, and as many one liners and witty quips as they could possibly fit into 2 minutes and 30 seconds. To top it all off, we’ve got an Electric Light Orchestra song playing over the whole thing. Look, I’m not saying James Gunn is the only guy who can put an ELO song in his film (or trailer), I’m just saying Borderlands already close to the edge and that just tips it over, it’s like the film’s rs want it to be known as the GOTG knock-off movie. Also, the correct and only song to use for Borderlands trailer is “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked,” by Cage the Elephant.

Is that a compliment or not? 732z1j

OK so let’s be fair to the creatives behind Borderlands, if you’re gonna ape another movie’s identity, the Guardians is a great one to pick. Everybody loves those films, myself included, so even if it only ends up half as good, you’ve still got an alright movie on your hands. But then again, who wants to watch an inferior version of a movie you already enjoyed years ago? Watching the trailer didn’t get me excited for this movie, it just made me want to do a Guardians marathon.

On top of that, Borderlands hasn’t exactly been relevant for a while; the last game in the main series was released 5 years ago, and the latest spin off: New Tales from the Borderlands, wasn’t exactly memorable. The long wait is probably to do with the fact that the film got stuck in development hell forever. Principal photography finished in 2021, but it was first announced in 2015. None of this is encouraging to fans who want to see a quality adaptation of their favorite game. Also the trailer proudly proclaims it’s “from the producer of Uncharted, Spider-Man and Venom,” which literally makes my blood run cold; that’s really not the flex they think it is, (at least they were smart enough to omit Morbius.)

Maybe I’m being a little harsh, it’s just the trailer after all, it might not reflect the final product (even though that is the literal point of a trailer.) Maybe it will be more original than we think and I’m just a hater, we’ll just have to wait and see what Borderlands can bring to the table when it finally releases.

Will Marvel keep this high spending trend up or take a different approach going forward?]]>
<![CDATA[

When it comes to Marvel movies, the issue of production budgets has proven to be an increasingly hot-button topic. The latest example of this debate can be found in reports surfacing for the forthcoming The Marvels, whose budget was recently in dispute.

While it’s basically considered par for the course for an Avengers movie to cost north of $300 million nowadays, it’s also now a standard for those films to gain over a billion dollars at the worldwide box office. As a result, no one really bats an eyelash at the hefty expense for the MCU’s flagship crossover franchise.

However, with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, for instance, people have questioned its $200 million budget since it barely managed to eke out a profit at the worldwide box office and failed to impress critics or audiences. In other cases, the scrutiny comes from asking whether a Marvel movie’s budget is too low.

The highs and lows of The Marvels‘ budget saga 5x216o

With The Marvels, it was apparently misreported by Vanity Fair that the film would only have a budget of $130 million, making it $45 million lower than the first film in the franchise, Captain Marvel. This led to speculation that Disney was perhaps divesting in the series for whatever reason. However, it turned out the budget for The Marvels was much higher. As Disney later clarified (as reported by Forbes), the cost of The Marvels was actually north of $270 million but ended up netting $220 million, thanks to a U.K. tax incentive.

The Marvels‘ true budget makes a lot more sense to us, considering MCU sequels generally get more money funneled to them than the first installment. Even still, the entire discussion had us curious about looking at the entire list of Marvel movie budgets and ranking them from most to least expensive — so that’s exactly what we did, thanks to information from The Numbers.

For the purposes of our list, we are excluding The Marvels and any other MCU film that has yet to be released in theaters since the final number for those budgets could change. Bear in mind, that when multiple movies are listed as having the same budgets, we’ve considered that to be a tie for that entry in the list. With that said, here’s the entire breakdown:

 1. $400 millionAvengers: Endgame (2019)
 2. $365 millionAvengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
 3. $300 millionAvengers: Infinity War (2018)
 4. $250 millionCaptain America: Civil War (2016); Thor: Love and Thunder (2022); Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022); Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)
 5. $225 millionThe Avengers (2012)
 6. $200 millionIron Man 3 (2013); Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017); Black Panther (2018); Black Widow (2021); Eternals (2021); Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021); Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022); Ant-Man and the Qasp: Quantumania (2023)
 7. $186 millionIron Man (2008)
 8. $180 millionThor: Ragnarok (2017)
 9. $175 millionSpider-Man: Homecoming (2017); Captain Marvel (2019)
 10. $170 millionIron Man 2 (2010); Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014); Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
 11. $165 millionDoctor Strange (2016)
 12. $160 millionSpider-Man: Far From Home (2019)
 13. $150 millionThor (2011); Thor: The Dark World (2013); Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
 14. $140 millionCaptain America: The First Avenger (2011)
 15. $137.5 millionThe Incredible Hulk (2008)
 16. $130 millionAnt-Man (2015); Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)

How will forthcoming MCU movies like The Marvels and next year’s Deadpool 3 ultimately shake out on this list after they release? Only time will tell. However, we have a feeling the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strikes may have an inflating impact on some of these projects in a comparable manner to the COVID-19 pandemic. With no crystal ball in site, however, we are left to only speculate.

For now, you can check out The Marvels in theaters on November 10 to decide for yourself if it lives up to that $270 million or so production value.

What came out on top?]]>
<![CDATA[

Music composer Alan Silvestri carried the Marvel sound throughout a variety of titles in the Infinity Saga. From his work in Captain America to the first four Avengers movies, his music helped shape the MCU. However, not every song that was featured was composed by him, as the film franchise also included tracks that we know and love, leaving fans wondering which song rules them all.

Over on r/MarvelStudios, licensed songs were placed under the spotlight as fans attempted to figure out which one was put to the best use in the MCU. Licensed songs sometimes tend to make a film feel out of place, but it could work wonders for a movie if done right.

Interestingly, the songs featured in Guardians of the Galaxy were not at the top of the list. Instead, many believed the use of Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” in Thor: Ragnarok was executed to perfection. To recap this iconic scene, the song was played when Thor attacked Hela’s army on the Bifrost Bridge. Many claim that this scene was very memorable, and made viewers excited every time.

Aside from Thor, other contenders that gave fans an earworm include AC/DC’s “Shoot to Thrill” in Iron Man 2, when Tony Stark flies to Stark Expo in his Iron Man suit. The “No Woman No Cry” remix from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer is also a notable entry that gave many goosebumps when it came out.

While there isn’t a lot of love for Guardians of the Galaxy, the use of “Father and Son” by Cat Stevens during Yondu’s funeral was a moment that brought tears to many an eye. Some also agreed that “Dog Days Are Over” by Florence and the Machine helped emphasize the emotional ending of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Marvel films have created several iconic scores that resonate with fans to this day. Fortunately, the filmmakers at Marvel Studios also know how to seamlessly include existing songs in their films. Not only did it bring familiarity to these movies, but it also helped with storytelling, conveyed emotions, and opened opportunities to introduce something new to younger moviegoers.

Because poking others to ask when on Earth the team kidnapped Kevin Bacon can be hazardous for your health.]]>
<![CDATA[

Please don’t be my sister. If you have broken the sacred Marvel code and have committed the blasphemy of not having watched at least the shows and films that directly connect to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, don’t expect to grill the ones who have and are unlucky enough to binge-watch the James Gunn Marvel swan song with you. It can be dangerous for your limbs.

So, better to err on the side of precaution and watch every show, special, and film that connects to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The advantage? You will be able to connect the dots yourself — why is the team on Knowhere, who are the new faces, why is Nebula buddies with Star-Lord (wait, why are they chatting about kidnapping Kevin Bacon?!) — not miss out on crucial scenes in the process, and will not have to wonder if someone staring daggers at you has the potential to kill.

While I would like you a lot more if you watch everything Marvel, for now, these are the six things to add to your must-watch-ASAP list. First, let’s start with the obvious ones as we only focus on the crucial Vol. 3 mysteries.

Guardians of the Galaxy 6q4w5x

Obviously, this is to understand where it all began for Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, Groot, and Nebula, getting introduced to their lives, and why the mismatched team came together in the first place — for the mysterious Orb, containing the Power Stone. It started with the different teams trying to steal it and then banding together to ensure Ronan the Acc doesn’t get his hands on it to destroy Xandar. Watch it to decode why the eccentric heroes have such a strong bond.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 3771d

Here, we learned why Peter didn’t turn to mush after grabbing the Power Stone — because he has celestial juice in his DNA! But that’s not the major takeaway of the film. It reveals how the quirky Mantis came to the team, why Yondu, Peter’s adoptive father, is missing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3., how Kraglin ended up with Yondu’s telekinetic arrow and control-fin, why the team trusts him so much, gives a backstory to Ayesha’s (leader of the Sovereign race) hatred for the Guardians, and who is the Ravager leader Stakar and his teammates.

Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame 5y5g6c

Infinity War and Endgame are important to understand the major shake-up that happens in the team, i.e. who is the “new” Gamora, what happened to the original one, and why is the new one so very aggressive. It also adds Thor to the mix temporarily even after most of the team returns from their five years of vacationing as dust.

Thor: Love and Thunder 4h62a

So, why isn’t Thor alongside the Guardians in Vol.3? Love and Thunder holds the answer as apart from making Taika Waititi lose our trust, it also establishes that the God of Thunder with his nonsensical missions, screaming goats, and half-assed plans has no space in the team. While Thor goes on to lead the parody of what was once an enticing storyline, the Guardians become fully devoted to saving others and jumping on distress calls post-Snap.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2.5 — or as the kids call it, Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special 1kr2l

You might think about what important info a Holiday Special could possibly include. Well, a lot. It explains how the Guardians ended up on Knowhere, when did Mantis become Quill’s sister, info about the MIA alternate Gamora, why is Kevin Bacon mentioned in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, who are the new , and the overall status quo of all the characters.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the first truly exceptional Marvel film — with all its loopholes covered, mind you — in a long while. As the final Marvel film to see the Guardians together (good riddance!), the franchise deserves to be watched in the right order, so you better get cracking!

Will there be another ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movie 415837 and more importantly, should there be? https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/movies/will-there-be-another-guardians-of-the-galaxy-movie-and-more-importantly-should-there-be/ <![CDATA[Jordan Collins]]> Wed, 02 Aug 2023 17:16:29 +0000 <![CDATA[Marvel]]> <![CDATA[Movies]]> <![CDATA[Chris Pratt]]> <![CDATA[Dave Bautista]]> <![CDATA[Guardians of the Galaxy]]> <![CDATA[Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2]]> <![CDATA[Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3]]> <![CDATA[James Gunn]]> <![CDATA[MCU]]> <![CDATA[MCU Fanatics]]> <![CDATA[star-lord]]> <![CDATA[Zoe Saldana]]> https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1551257 <![CDATA[
Where could the franchise possibly go now?]]>
<![CDATA[

With the way the third Guardians of the Galaxy ended, we know that if there were to be a fourth film in the franchise, it just wouldn’t be the same. Although the end-credits scene certainly leaves the door wide open for the Guardians to continue their galactic adventures, as well as promising Star-Lord’s return, I’m going to say what I think a lot of people are thinking: We should just leave the Guardians be.

What are the chances of getting a fourth film? 316g1k

This is Disney we’re talking about. As fun as these films are, at the end of the day, it’s a business — and these films are a product. If they make money, then the studio will probably try and rinse a franchise for all it can. And boy, oh boy, did the Guardians make money. The first film garnered just under $800 million worldwide at the box office and the latter two sured the $800 million mark. Disney won’t be so quick to let such profitable heroes fade into obscurity.

Although as I’ve already mentioned, the last film sort of caps off the whole story; all of the characters have had their arcs and are going their separate ways, Dave Bautista and Zoe Saldana have confirmed they are not planning on returning, and James Gunn is off to greener pastures. But that doesn’t mean the end for the Guardians as a whole, just this iteration of the Guardians that we know and love.

We already know that there are plans for a Peter Quill/Star-Lord solo movie as the end-credits scene already promised us that “The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return.” On top of that, Rocket has a new team made up of Kraglin, King Groot, Adam Warlock, and Phyla, the young girl rescued from the High Evolutionary.

All this is to say that Disney has ample material to expand based on what we’ve seen in the third movie. Although nothing is in stone yet, it seems like the studio is only biding its time with these characters. They will more than likely return to the silver screen at some point, but hopefully not under the title “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4” because that would be pretty disrespectful to Gunn.

Why shouldn’t we get another Guardians? 85w53

Listen, I love all the Guardians as much as the next guy. But we’ve had our fun; there can always be too much of a good thing. Gunn did a fantastic job with these characters and the story across the three movies. It just works as a trilogy — why carry on and potentially run it into the ground?

You might be inclined to argue, but I would point your attention to other franchises like Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, or Transformers; all of these films worked as trilogies before extra films were tacked on. If Indiana Jones had stopped at The Last Crusade, the world would be a better place. It’s okay to end things on a high note; Hollywood has convinced us all that a franchise can’t die until it’s had a few awful sequels fail at the box office. But that isn’t the case.

Secondly, the original line-up for the team was pretty much perfect. I think it’s safe to say that fans went to theaters and paid for tickets to see the characters we’ve come to love over the past nine years. I know that’s why I did. A new line-up would have big boots to fill. I mean, sure, we all love Rocket, but his relationship with the others is what truly made him stand out. Will he have the same chemistry with a new team?

No Guardians without Gunn 1b30u

Thirdly, and perhaps most important, is the fact that there are no Guardians without Gunn. His distinctive style, dialogue, and set designs really made the films stand out from the rest of the usual Marvel content. I know there are plenty of talented directors with great visions at Marvel, but Gunn’s cinematic flair is unique — it can’t be imitated.

Even then, the directors and writers at Marvel seem to be struggling right now. There’s no way I’d trust Peyton Reed to direct a Guardians film or Jeff Loveness to write one. It’s not their fault; the Marvel machine seems to chew up and spit out creatives, but Gunn was somehow able to stand above all of that. Now that he’s gone, I’m sure there’s nobody left who could do what he did.

I’m convinced anything from Marvel in the future related to the Guardians of the Galaxy would only ever be a pale imitation of the former glory contained within the original trilogy. Maybe I’m just being pessimistic, but I think we all just need to learn when to stop and appreciate what we got.

Not all aliens are terrifying and ugly.]]>
<![CDATA[

We are not alone. Whether they’re friend or foe, extra-terrestrial life has been featured in our media for many years. Whether they’re unaware of the situation, part of the problem, or just want to make peace, it’s up to humanity to decide whether or not they’re worth trusting.

But not all aliens are terrifying. While most science fiction titles try to depict these intergalactic creatures as something horrifying, others turn out to be cute, innocent, and sometimes harmless. To prove said point, here are 10 of the cutest aliens that have been introduced throughout film and TV. You decide if you could trust any of them.

10. Adipose (Doctor Who) 371t35

The Adipose is an alien species introduced in Doctor Who that is composed of human fat. They’re cute marshmallow-like beings that seem completely harmless, but could also be potentially dangerous, considering that they also take other human tissue like organs and bones for their development. But hey, if they’re able to help humans lose weight, that’s great. Just make sure you don’t catch them, or else your entire body will mutate into this alien species thanks to their “nanny.”

9. Mantis (Guardians of the Galaxy) 3m4p1x

Mantis was first introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. This Celestial hybrid may look and sound innocent and naive, but her abilities could be deadly if used correctly. From mind reading to emotional and memory manipulation, Mantis proved a vital member of the Guardians. Such a shame that she decided to leave the group, but perhaps that’s for the best. Will we see her again? Who knows.

8. Mr. Frundles (Rick and Morty) 568o

In the words of Rick Sanchez, Mr. Frundles is cute. Unfortunately, it’s a parasite that’s able to take over anything. From living beings, objects, and even planets, one bite turns them into Mr. Frundles. Why was that alien species living in the Smith Household? No clue. Hopefully, this creature becomes a greater adversary in future Rick and Morty episodes.

7. Kyubey (Puella Magi Madoka Magika) 5q586c

Kyubey may seem like an adorable cat-like creature who’s able to grant wishes to young girls. But in reality, this wish-granting alien is a sociopath whose species sees empathy and emotion as mental health disorders. These Incubators came to Earth for one reason — to convert emotions into energy, which will be used to prevent the death of the universe. Would you like to sign a contract with this alien to become a magical girl?

6. Tribble (Star Trek) 2t5n2p

In the Star Trek episode, “The Trouble with Tribbles,” this rodent-like species that can create “a new generation every three hours” was featured. They’re harmless, low-intelligent, furry alien species with no facial features, yet somehow were seen as a problem by Captain Kirk and his team. Sadly, the Klingons found these creatures as an “ecological menace” and tried to make the Tribble an extinct alien species.

5. E.T. (E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial) 2r2u5j

Steven Spielberg introduced the world to an alien that kids would want to protect. E.T. was just a simple creature who wanted to collect plant samples and do no harm. Fortunately, this alien was protected by children who did whatever it took to bring their new guest back home safely. In exchange, E.T. was able to make some new friends throughout its adventures on Earth.

4. Ruby/Navy (Steven Universe) p5i12

Steven Universe may have its aliens share the same name based on their gem, but Steven has decided to give some of them nicknames to tell them apart. Out of all the gems that were introduced in the show, Navy (a Ruby with a gem placed on her navel) has to be the cutest of them all. She’s soft-spoken and innocent-looking, but all that cuteness could also be used for manipulation, as she was able to trick Steven, Peridot, and Lapis Lazuli to get what she wants.

3. Hubble (Good Boy!) 6x711z

Who doesn’t love dogs? After all, dogs are man’s best friend. But in the 2003 film Good Boy!, dogs were actually aliens, destined to rule over humans. Hubble starts as intelligent and doesn’t care about his owner, especially due to his loyalty to the Greater Dane. But eventually, he slowly learns about the bond between dogs and humans and the friendship forged over the centuries. Could you imagine a universe where dogs ended up becoming rulers of Earth?

Angel (aka Experiment 624) is Stitch’s love interest in Lilo & Stitch. She’s an alien with the ability to change one’s morality through her singing, except for those created after her. Just like the rest of Stitch’s cousins, Angel was also able to find a place on Earth, becoming an international and intergalactic singing sensation by the events of the Stitch! anime series.

1. Grogu (The Mandalorian) i3i43

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYJWHkZfQxM&pp=ygUGZ3JvZ3Ug

Who doesn’t love Grogu? This cute Jedi-turned-Mandalorian foundling has become a beloved figure in the Star Wars universe. The idea of this young kid wearing a Mandalorian helmet is the fandom’s biggest conundrum. Grogu mostly communicates through babbles, despite being over 50 years old. And yet, he’s capable of fighting some of the galaxy’s greatest threats like Moff Gideon.

While the existence of alien life still remains unknown, it’s interesting to see how the media depicts these species. While a common stereotype was that they’re green, slimy, and unappealing to look at, some decided to go the opposite direction and make them look adorable and innocent. So until we can truly answer whether there’s life beyond Earth, we can only assume that they either look like horrifying monsters or harmless creatures.

Let's not open this can of worms. ]]>
<![CDATA[

Marvel loves a good pop culture reference – from Peter Quill’s fascination with Kevin Bacon to Carol Denver’s Nine Inch Nails t-shirt – but what happens when the superhero studio decides to hire the stars their own characters love? It’s like when Glee covered a Demi Lovato song and then proceeded to cast the singer to play a completely unrelated character a season later. Does her character know about the pop star who looks exactly like her? And does Guardians‘ Stakar Ogord know about the Rocky movies?

The connection was made in a recent Reddit post that resulted from the original poster rewatching 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where Steve comes up with a list of all the things he needs to catch up on from the years he’s been on ice. On the list are Rocky and Rocky 2, which are obviously Sylvester Stallone‘s most famous movies. That same year, the Guardians of The Galaxy trilogy had its first installment, eventually bringing Stallone on board for its second and third as Ravager captain Stakar Ogord.

MogarTheUnkillable is going with the theory that Stakar is actually a retired Stallone, who decided to change career paths after filming 1976 film that made him a superstar. That is the reason why Rocky 2 is followed by a question mark on Steve’s list – maybe it never got made.

A few of the commentators, seemingly averse to fun, are of the opinion that OP is just overthinking the whole thing. Besides, Peter Parker is also a huge Star Wars fan – a franchise that stars the likes of Samuel L. Jackson aka Nick Fury, Natalie Portman aka Jane Foster, Oscar Isaac aka Moon Knight, and the Harrison Ford, soon to become Thaddeus Ross.

Regardless of theories, this phenomenon is quite common and is known as the celebrity paradox, where the actor who plays a role in a given film is also known as an actor within the same fictional universe. It’s common and can be annoying in the sense that it is distracting and can affect canon, but mostly it’s just a bit of fourth-wall-breaking fun. Either way, the multiverse being a thing in the MCU fixes all problems – from recasting, to rebooting, to the celebrity paradox.

Three memorable movies with three memorable villains.]]>
<![CDATA[

James Gunn knocked it out of the park with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, making the trilogy the most consistent in of quality across the MCU. One thing Gunn is getting particular praise for is how different all three Guardians villains feel.

This bodes well for his future as the head honcho of the DCU. The comics are known for having some of the best villains around. From Lex Luthor to the Joker; there’s a pretty wild collection of varied and interesting characters to choose from. If Gunn is capable of the range he’s already demonstrated with his Guardians villains, then audiences will be in for a treat once his DCU really gets up and running.

Fans are already getting excited about the thought, as one redditor made a post in the DC Cinematic subreddit expressing their excitement for future DC villains on screen as well as praising Gunn’s villains thus far. The post explained how Gunn was able to make each villain feel distinct and memorable, whilst in some ways endearing them to the audience.

“In the first guardians we had Ronan the Acc. A powerful villain equipped with the literal power stone. Then you had Ego. A charismatic villain that had the star lord wrapped around his thumb, until his ego (lol) got the best of him and let too many details slip. Finally you have The High Evolutionary. A Genius narcissist scientist who believes he is responsible for progressing life but didn’t complete the puzzle.”

When you look back over the trilogy, it’s clear to see that Gunn really has had a good run; but then again, that was never really in much doubt. Some fans pointed out that Ronan was a somewhat weak villain, but then again, that was a problem that persisted throughout phase two of the MCU. It was also the first Guardians film, so more attention was likely placed on the main characters, who were entirely new to the audience.

After showing what he can do with the Guardians and their villains, most fans (even some who were loyal to Zack Snyder) have decided that they are looking forward to seeing what Gunn will bring to the DCU. The redditor went on to say that they trusted the director to do a brilliant job with the DC villains.

“Each movie managed to make a compelling villain for different reasons and makes me confident characters like Lex, Doomsday, and super excited to see what Gunn does with Joker, because you can go some many different ways with him. Nicholson was unique as the funny joker who graffitied art museums, Ledger was the agent of chaos, Keoghan looks to be manipulative in the asylum and finally Leto showed how not to play the joker.”

With all his recent success, it seems like the heads at DC and Warner Bros. made a sound decision in bringing Gunn on board. The villains are arguably the best quality in DC Comics. If Gunn can turn a D-list villain like the High Evolutionary into one of the most intimidating and hateable characters practically overnight, imagine what he could do with the huge variety of A-list villains DC has.

He's saved the MCU now he's reviving a long forgotten piece of tech.]]>
<![CDATA[

James Gunn has proven that he not only has what it takes to revive a dying MCU, but he’s also capable of reviving long-forgotten pieces of tech, as the Zune has made a comeback thanks to the Marvel director.

For those of you who have no clue what a Zune is, it’s a portable music device from Microsoft, and it was designed to compete with Apple’s iPod. Unfortunately, there was just no way to compete against the behemoth that was Apple, plus Microsoft was already late to the game as iTunes and the iPod launched in 2001. Zunes came about in 2006 and were discontinued five years later.

However, it seems that the time is finally here for the Zune to make a comeback. You may Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) being gifted a Zune at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and it also shows up again frequently in GotG 3. So what do people do when they see something used by a character in a popular film? Naturally, they go and buy one for themselves. The free advertising for Zune has created a pretty solid demand for the relatively outdated piece of tech. As such, Microsoft has even gotten involved with the hype, offering to give away a Zune with the same design seen in GotG 3. Gunn shared the tweet that showed a pic of the potential prize.

It feels like we’ve been transported back to the late 2000s. There’s no doubt that Gunn likes his old-school media but now it’s like he’s dragging the rest of the world back in time with him.

Since then, the little iPod clone has found itself on the receiving end of more love than ever before. #Zune started trending on Twitter with over 20K tweets and counting. Gunn himself shared a screenshot of the hashtag, accompanied by a cry-laughing emoji. It looks like he’s let the genie out of the bottle, and now the only solution is to bring the Zune back.

Whether the Zune truly does make a comeback remains to be seen but it’s certainly been a blast from the past. The fact that Gunn was able to get something that was forgotten over ten years ago, trending in 2023 shows just how powerful the man has become.

Elizabeth Debicki, who is relatively new to the industry, has already garnered acclaim for her work in a wide range of roles. ]]>
<![CDATA[

Elizabeth Debicki‘s Ayesha, the High Priestess of the alien race known as the Sovereign, returns in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which has been the subject of much media attention lately. Debicki, who received critical acclaim for her performance in Steve McQueen’s heist thriller Widows in 2018 before winning the Trophée Chopard at the Cannes Film Festival the following year, has been on a roll since starring in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The 32-year-old Paris-born Australian actress has quickly become a popular commodity.

Per The Guardian, Debicki first caught attention in A Few Best Men, an Australian comedy released in 2011, thanks to her towering height, steely blue eyes, and irresistible charisma. Since then, she has portrayed many intriguing characters, from a mysterious nemesis with excellent taste in clothing to Lady Diana Spencer. So, without further ado, here are Elizabeth Debicki’s top ten best movies and television shows, listed in no particular order.

The Night Manager (2016) 48m59

Debicki had a standout performance in the critically acclaimed BBC miniseries The Night Manager. Based on John le Carré’s 1993 novel of the same name, Susanne Bier’s British television series also starred Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman, and Tom Hollander.

Tom Hiddleston played the mysterious Jonathan Pine, with Debicki as Jed Marshall, an affluent socialite who fell in love with him. Debicki received a Golden Globe nomination for portraying the nuanced and emotional Jed. The Night Manager was nominated for 36 awards, winning eleven – including two Primetime Emmys and three Golden Globes.

The Cloverfield Paradox (2018) 4f4673

Elizabeth Debicki appears in The Cloverfield Paradox in a ing role as Mina Jensen, a member of the international crew of the Cloverfield space station. It’s the follow-up to 2008’s Cloverfield and 2016’s 10 Cloverfield Lane in the Cloverfield series.

The film centers on the astronauts who — after utilizing a particle accelerator to solve Earth’s energy issue — must find a way home when the planet mysteriously disappears. The cast also features Daniel Brühl, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and David Oyelowo. Mina, played by Debicki, is a British engineer who helps save the world from an imminent energy crisis with the rest of the crew.

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015) 605qc

Victoria Vinciguerra, portrayed by Elizabeth Debicki, is a wealthy and sophisticated criminal mastermind in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. attempting to acquire nuclear weapons for her evil goals. Debicki’s portrayal of Victoria is riveting and authoritative, thanks to the intelligence and ruthless quality she brings to the role.

The film’s two protagonists — CIA agent Napoleon Solo (Henry Cavill) and KGB agent Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer) — face off against Victoria. The ensuing tension makes for some of the film’s most memorable moments. Directed by Guy Ritchie and inspired by the 1960s TV series of the same name, this spy thriller from 2015 also stars Alicia Vikander.

Widows (2018) 4w5l26

Widows is a 2018 neo-noir heist thriller directed by Steve McQueen and starring some of Hollywood’s most gifted women, including Viola Davis and Michelle Rodriguez, based on the British television series same name from 1983. To repay a crime boss from whom their husbands stole $2,000,000 before being slain in a failed getaway, four women in Chicago attempt to rob the mansion of a famous local politician of $5,000,000.

Widows starred Elizabeth Debicki as Alice Gunner, a young woman whose criminal husband’s untimely death draws her into the above mentioned heist. Debicki received high appreciation for her complex portrayal of Alice, who goes from being a helpless victim to a resilient survivor.

Tenet (2020) 6174y

Tenet is a science fiction action thriller written and directed by Christopher Nolan. In addition to Elizabeth Debicki and John David Washington, the film stars Robert Pattinson, Michael Caine, and Kenneth Branagh.

In Tenet, Elizabeth Debicki plays Kat, the jilted wife of arms trader Andrei Sator (Kenneth Branagh). Kat provides the emotional anchor for the story. The film chronicles her character’s journey of empowerment and self-discovery as she escapes from an abusive and controlling relationship with Sator.

The Great Gatsby (2013) 1e6u1b

Elizabeth Debicki played professional golfer Jordan Baker in Baz Luhrmann’s 2013 film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby. Baker is a friend of Daisy Buchanan (Carey Mulligan) and develops feelings for Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire).

Debicki’s portrayal of Jordan, a multifaceted character in the novel, is spot on. She brings cool sophistication to the role while also conveying emotional depth and yearning. Jordan is a woman who knows what she wants and is unapologetic in her pursuit of it, but she also grapples with her own sense of identity and position in the world.

Macbeth (2015) 2m1u2j

Macbeth, directed by Justin Kurzel, stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, with Paddy Considine, Sean Harris, Jack Reynor, Elizabeth Debicki, and David Thewlis in ing parts. The protagonist, a Scottish lord, learns from three witches that they have predicted his eventual ascension to the throne of Scotland.

Like the adapted play, the film dramatizes political ambition’s physical and psychological toll on those who pursue it. Debicki’s portrayal of Lady Macduff in the film gained critical acclaim, with many appreciating her complex and ionate performance. While Lady Macduff receives little screen time, she is a significant emblem of the catastrophic repercussions of Macbeth’s insatiable quest for power.

The Crown (2022) 1h3fe

Seasons 5 and 6 of Netflix’s critically acclaimed series The Crown star Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, and the actress’s portrayal of the late royal’s courtship, marriage, and eventual divorce from Prince Charles and the royal family has wowed viewers.

Debicki does a beautiful job of bringing depth to the character by emphasizing the aspects that made her one of the most influential women in history. As a result of her work in the fifth season, Debicki was nominated for both the Golden Globe and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) 5v534o

Elizabeth Debicki’s Ayesha in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was a standout performance. Ayesha, the chief priestess of the Sovereign race, contracts the Guardians to save her planet from a monster in exchange for Gamora’s sister Nebula.

As a leader, Ayesha comes across as strong and capable, yet she is also quick to anger and resort to violent acts. She has a pathological need for perfection and believes that her race is inherently better than all others. Debicki’s portrayal of the arrogant and strong Ayesha won rave reviews.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023) 645l3j

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Elizabeth Debicki reprises her role as Ayesha. Adam Warlock’s relationship with Ayesha is pivotal to the plot of the popular new film. Ayesha is seen in the trailer plotting her vengeance against the Guardians for abandoning her in the past. She intends to get even with the Sovereign using his most potent weapon.

It’s not apparent in the trailer if Ayesha is speaking to Adam Warlock or Chukwudi Iwuji’s High Evolutionary, but they’re both potential antagonists, given the film’s premise. Debicki’s portrayal of the vain Golden High Priestess in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has garnered much attention. As a result, the bar has been set relatively high for her performance in the new third installment.
