It’s not the first thing that comes to mind when you hear his thick North Carolina accent on season 3 of The White Lotus, but Jason Isaacs is no stranger to cinematic villainy.

Just look at his filmography: Captain Hook. Ra’s al Ghul. Sinestro. The Inquisitor. Lex Luthor. Satan. Does it get more evil than that? When you’re Jason Isaacs, the answer is yes. Arguably his most famous and memorable role is that of Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films. First appearing in Chamber of Secrets, Isaacs imbued Lucius with the kind of hair-raising intensity only Bellatrix Lestrange and Voldemort himself could later match. His luscious blonde locks and scene-stealing snarl quickly cemented Lucius as a Potter villain to hate ⏤ and incredibly difficult to replicate.

Now that a new Potter show is on the way, a key casting question is demanding attention: who’s going to play the new Lucius? Thankfully for fans chomping at the bit, Isaacs has an answer……and it’s the last one you’re expecting.

Who does Jason Isaacs think should play the new Lucius Malfoy?

In conversation with Variety, Isaacs recently revealed who would play the new Lucius “if he were in charge”: Meryl Streep! I know what you’re thinking: who? I’M KIDDING, SAMANTHA. We know her, we love her, and yes, now we kind of need her to play Papa Malfoy just to see her knock it out of the park. As for why Isaacs thinks Streep is perfect for the role, his justification is sound.

“She can do anything, that woman,” he told the publication. “There’s literally no limit to what she can do.” With a historic career that has seen her win three Oscars and be nominated for a whopping 21, Streep obviously needs no introduction. She’s played everyone from Joanna Kramer to Miranda Priestley, and she has yet to meet her match. (Although some would argue her successor is well on her way). Though there’s an enormous chance Isaacs was being facetious with his answer to Variety’s question, it would not be a stretch to see Streep fill Lucius’ shoes and slay, kween.

When asked what advice he would give new incoming Potter actors, Isaacs kept his cards close to the vest. “I wouldn’t have any advice at all,” he revealed. “Why would I bother? I know some of the people they’re casting already. They’re brilliant actors. It’s going to be fantastic, and the last thing they need is advice from some old fart like me.”

That “old fart” happened to craft one of the more memorable cinematic villains of all time, but we understand where he’s coming from. Max’s new series opens up the door to a whole new generation of possibilities, especially now that far too many of the prior Potter creatives have left us too soon. So far, John Lithgow has been announced as the new Dumbledore, with I May Destroy You breakout Paapa Essiedu crowned the new Severus Snape. Potter author J.K. Rowling, who in recent years has earned the internet’s ire following her consistently controversial anti-transgender views, had previously insisted that American actors not be cast in the largely British roles she’d created. Lithgow’s casting confirms that she’s not being as strict this time around, which also means that Streep being in the running for Draco’s daddy is not outside the realm of possibility.

With season 5 of Only Murders in the Building, a TV adaptation of The Corrections, and the long-awaited sequel to The Devil Wears Prada on her plate, Streep might simply be too busy to step into the shoes of a dark wizard at the moment. That said, following her Oscar-nominated turn as The Witch in Into the Woods, perhaps she’s got more magic to do before she receives her inevitable 22nd Oscar nominaish. As for Isaacs, we’re just hoping he survives his stay at a certain hotel ⏤ and that his pants stay on for the rest of the season.

The White Lotus star Jason Isaacs has retracted the comments he made about two actresses while discussing the public reaction to a buzzy scene from the HBO series.

In case you missed it, Isaacs’ The White Lotus character, Tim Ratliff, got tongues wagging after last week’s episode when an untied bathrobe led to a full-frontal flash for both his family and legions of viewers. In the resulting fanfare, Isaacs explained his willingness to go nude was in an effort to “go big or go home,” but he appeared less enthused about discussing whether the scene required a prosthetic appendage.

#JasonIsaacs isn’t having it! 🙅‍♂️ On CBSMornings, he shuts down a question about his full frontal nudity in TheWhiteLotus, calling out the double standard in how nudity is discussed in TV/film. While talking prosthetics, he pointed out actresses like #MikeyMadison and #MargaretQualley aren’t asked about their “genitalia or nipples.” Do you agree or disagree, N’Crowd? 🔥 #Actor #TvShow #TvSeries #HBOMax #Streaming #StreamingonMax #NewShow #BingeWorthy #MustSee #MustWatch #Celebrity #CelebrityNews #CelebrityUpdate #CelebNews #CelebUpdate #PopCulture #Trending #fyp #fypシ @The White Lotus @CBS Mornings

Isaacs repeatedly dodged such questions during an interview on CBS Mornings, saying he doesn’t think fans “want to know how the sausage is made.” Going beyond that curious choice of words, the actor then said all the hullabaloo around his full-frontal scene highlighted a supposed double standard. “It’s interesting that there’s a double standard for men,” Isaacs told host Gayle King, before name-dropping two actresses who, according to him, were not subject to such scrutiny.

“The best actress this year is Mikey Madison at the Oscars, and I don’t see anybody discussing her vulva, which was on [the screen] all the time,” Isaacs said, in reference to Madison’s role in Anora. Margaret Qualley as well, in The Substance,” he added, “and nobody would dream of talking to her about her genitalia or her nipples or any of those things.” Isaacs concluded by reiterating the “odd” double standard in Hollywood and the “weird obsession with penises,” since “you would never dream of discussing [women’s] genitalia, not for a second.”

Naturally, Isaacs’ comments drew criticism from some social media s, who reminded the actor that, in reality, many actresses have been subject to inappropriate questions about their bodies over the years, including just recently with Demi Moore in The Substance. This response to Isaacs’ comments is perhaps why he released a statement in which he walked back on his original sentiments. “I said the wrong words in the wrong way,” Isaacs told Variety. “I used the phrase ‘double standard,’ which I didn’t mean at all. There is a [different] double standard — women have been monstrously exploited and men haven’t.”

The actor went on to say his comments “came out wrong” because he “was tired,” before addressing Madison directly. “I absolutely should not have mentioned those two actresses, whom I respect enormously,” he said, “Mikey Madison I’m a massive fan of. My point wasn’t that men have had a harder time than women — that would be absurd. Women have had a monstrous time on camera forever, and I hope to God that is changing.”

While he clarified his comments, Isaacs said he stands by his assertion that it’s a “bit weird” for journalists to question whether he was wearing a prosthetic for the scene. He said the question basically translates to “‘have I seen your actual penis? It’s very important for me to know if I’ve seen your penis.’ It just strikes me as a bit weird and slightly obsessive.” Isaacs later mentioned the many male castmates who have have likewise gone nude in previous episodes of The White Lotus, saying it was creator Mike White’s attempt to “redress the unfair balance” of nudity on screen.

We’ve already borne witness to at least three male nude scenes in the currently airing third season, while previous installments have seen full-frontal flashes from Steve Zahn in season one and Theo James in season two. Hopefully, any chatter about Isaacs’ scene will soon be outdone when we discover who dies at the end of season three. Please God, don’t let it be Belinda.

Jason Isaacs has opened up about a recent scene from The White Lotus that saw his character quite literally baring it all — and the internet has reacted in typically unhinged fashion.

In case you missed it (in honesty, it was quite hard to miss), The White Lotus recently debuted the fourth episode of its currently airing third season, and the opening scene of the episode left little to the imagination. In it, Isaacs’ character, the uber-wealthy finance bro Timothy Ratliff, is seen accidentally giving a full-frontal flash to his wife, played by Parker Posey, and children, played by Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sam Nivola and Sarah Catherine Hook. While the Ratliff family were taken aback by nude scene, their reaction paled in comparison to that of fans, and Isaacs has since addressed the fanfare himself.

“It is now in my contract for every show I do, so we’ll see,” Isaacs joked of his full-frontal moment in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “It’ll get easier, hopefully,” he added. For his part, Schwarzenegger chimed in with his own question for the interviewer, saying they “should be asking what it was like for us to watch” Isaacs flash him and his co-stars. Elsewhere in the interview, Isaacs explained that the nude moment was part of his broader big swings and risks that he took while portraying the character of Timothy.

“I just thinking, ‘I’ve got to go big — go big or go home,’” Isaacs said. “There were some inner gear changes required.” Since the internet knows no chill, it wasn’t long before social media was set alight with reactions to the scene in question. Many responses invoked Harry Potter, since Isaacs is perhaps best known for his role as Lucius Malfoy in the fantasy franchise. Other reactions saw s remark that they were “not familiar with [Isaacs’] game,” or simply revel in the fact that “Jason Isaacs is hot.” Elsewhere, fans used an array of GIFs to visualize their, shall we say, thirsty response to the full-frontal scene.

Coincidentally, it’s not the first time The White Lotus has attracted this kind of attention. All three seasons of the HBO anthology series have featured a full-frontal scene with male castmates, from Steve Zahn’s flash in the Hawaii-set season one to Theo James’ own nude moment in the sophomore installment. Heck, Isaacs isn’t even the only character to have gone commando in this current season, since Schwarzenegger’s Saxon Ratliff also flashed audiences in the debut episode.

Speaking of Schwarzenegger, the actor and son of Arnold Schwarzenegger recently addressed claims that he was a ‘nepo baby,’ though his response left some fans unimpressed. Elsewhere in The White Lotus-verse, Nicole Kidman this week expressed interest in appearing in the cast of the already announced fourth season, saying she would “do anything” to collaborate with series creator Mike White. She has already portrayed a vacation guest in Nine Perfect Strangers, so what’s stopping her from jumping hotel chains?

The third season of The White Lotus takes this batch of privileged and irritating guests to the titular chain in Thailand. Natasha Rothwell, who appeared as Belinda in season one, features again in this current installment, alongside Walton Goggins, Aimee Lou Wood, and Lisa of the K-pop band, BLACKPINK.

‘The pleasures all come afterwards’: This ‘Harry Potter’ actor its the films were ‘quite boring’ to make https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/the-pleasures-all-come-afterwards-this-harry-potter-actor-its-the-films-were-quite-boring-to-make/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/the-pleasures-all-come-afterwards-this-harry-potter-actor-its-the-films-were-quite-boring-to-make/#respond Tue, 25 Feb 2025 05:36:49 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1836994 Bringing magic to life wasn't so enchanting, as it turns out. ]]>

The Harry Potter films conjured the magic of the books onto the big screen and transported fans into a spellbinding world of wizards and magic — a universe so fantastically wonderful that fans couldn’t help but wish they could step right into it.

For the actors, though, the experience may have been far less magical. While fans were swept up in the enchantment, they saw the behind-the-scenes reality of careful planning, technical tricks, and the painstaking work that brought it all to life.  It may not be as thrilling as people might imagine. In fact, for actor Jason Isaacs, it was downright dull.

Isaacs played the role of Lucius Malfoy, the silver-haired cunning father of Harry Potter’s rival, Draco Malfoy, and he appeared in five of the eight Harry Potter films. In a recent appearance on BBC’s The One Show, the actor looked back at his experience on set and said, “It’s a terrible confession to make, they weren’t that much fun to make. It’s quite boring, making big special effects films.” The revelation may be a surprise to some, but those familiar with filmmaking may be able to understand why he felt that way.

Set in a fantasy world, the filmmakers naturally relied on special effects to enhance the magic and create a striking contrast to the ordinary Muggle world that we live in. Filming these scenes, however, can be even more tedious due to the intricate technical requirements. Every movement and line must be precise to ensure the special effects align seamlessly when added in post-production. Additionally, the set itself often feels far from magical, with harsh lighting, complex camera setups, and green screen backdrops replacing the enchanting world we see on screen.

Despite being bored while filming, Isaacs shared how rewarding it was to be part of the franchise. He has heard from countless fans about how the movies and characters impacted their lives and even now — more than a decade after the last film was released — the new generation is discovering the magic of the series.

“The pleasures all come afterwards when I see and meet people for whom their lives were changed by it,” Isaacs noted. He itted that he feels emotional whenever he goes on Harry Potter tours. “When I take my nephews and nieces to the tour, and the thing comes up and you’re in the Great Hall, every time I burst out in tears. It’s incredibly moving,” he stated.

It’s safe to say that being bored on set was a small price to pay for the lasting impression the films have had on millions of people around the world. In addition, Isaacs formed strong relationships with his castmates, most notably his on-screen son Draco portrayed by Tom Felton, whom he still refers to as his “son” on social media. In an interview with Square Mile magazine in 2023, the two gushed about each other, with Felton becoming emotional over the Isaacs has given him even years after they stopped working on Harry Potter together.

“We’ve shared our journeys, struggles, lots of private things and private moments,” Isaacs said. A Harry Potter TV series is currently in the works, and each season will reportedly focus on one book from the original, JK Rowling-written series. Production will begin this summer, and the first season is scheduled to debut on HBO sometime in 2026.

Celebrities are no strangers to weird fan interactions, from receiving bizarre gifts to downright stalking. Some fans may cross personal boundaries, making uncomfortable requests, and while most interactions are harmless, the line between iration and obsession can get uncomfortably thin.

English actor Jason Isaacs, who played the elitist pure-blood wizard and devoted Death Eater Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, has had a few odd exchanges with fans throughout his decades as an actor. Still, one specific encounter stuck to the actor’s mind when asked by The Telegraph about his worst fan interaction.

Isaacs recalled the cast trip to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, Florida, where they spent the day delighting fans, g autographs, and posing for selfies. As the event wound down, a particularly enthusiastic woman approached him with a request that wasn’t something the actor was expecting. “Will you sign my breasts?” the woman asked before promptly opening her top and presenting the designated surface.

The actor was scandalized by the unusual request but kept his composure, managing to say, “Madam, please stop. There’s kids everywhere.” Unfazed, the woman waved off his concern, proudly declaring that she had eight kids. Isaacs, grasping at reason, asked, “Well, what would they say?” Unfortunately for him, the woman’s children sided with their mother and immediately started an enthusiastic pep rally, chanting, “Sign them, sign them!”

Although Isaacs considered that one of his worst fan interactions, he found it quite amusing. However, he has also had other “actual worst” experiences in the form of fan stalkers. “Proper stalkers. Court cases and people dragged away outside my house by police and dogs. When I saw Baby Reindeer, I thought ‘I should have written it first,’” he shared, referring to the dark comedy thriller series involving a deranged stalker.

Isaacs recounted his stalker ordeal to The Sun about 20 years ago, revealing that a particularly persistent female fan had followed him obsessively for eight years. Things escalated to the point where he had to take her to court — multiple times — and file restraining orders. Yet, even legal intervention wasn’t enough, as she resumed her stalking the moment the orders expired.

Authorities couldn’t do much about the situation, suggesting Isaacs change his phone number, move homes, or change jobs — none of which felt like real solutions. He later discovered that the woman lived two hours away by train yet still managed to track him down with unsettling dedication. He even considered a shift to just doing theater acting, but he quickly realized it wouldn’t help — she’d simply purchase a front-row seat to his shows. “Friends make jokes about it, but then I explain what it is like having someone standing outside your door banging in the early hours of the morning,” he told the outlet.

Despite the unsettling stalker experience, Isaacs has also enjoyed plenty of rewarding fan encounters. As he told The Telegraph, he’s been deeply moved by Harry Potter fans who share how the films changed their lives, with some even expressing how important Lucius Malfoy was for them despite his villainous ways. “I feel like they haven’t had quite enough therapy… but then, it might be the hair. I’m not sure,” the actor jokingly added.

As far as anthology series go, The White Lotus might just be at the top of the pile when it comes to quality.

The HBO show, known for its gorgeous sets and centred around the eponymous chain of high-end resorts in exotic locations, has seen some incredible actors in its previous two seasons. From Aubrey Plaza to Michael Imperioli and, of course, the effervescent Jennifer Coolidge, the series never fails when it comes to casting.

Although each season so far has had different plot points, overall the show has done a great job of touching on things like class barriers, the intoxicating dangers of wealth, and the unhealthy relationship dynamics that form when there’s a massive disparity between incomes. The third season is likely to cover similar ground.

Filming is set to begin in Thailand in February 2024, but we still don’t know too much about the plot of the newest installment, other than where the action will take place. We do, however, know many of the big names that will be taking part in season 3 of The White Lotus, and boy, have the casting directors delivered again.

Looking forward to seeing what series creator Mike White has in store for us, and want to know more about the cast he’s gathered for the newest installment of his black comedy drama? Here’s every actor confirmed for The White Lotus season 3 so far!

Carrie Coon

Coon is the latest actor to be confirmed as a season 3 cast member, with HBO announcing her involvement on Jan. 10 2024. The Boston Strangler, Fargo and The Gilded Age star has oodles of talent, and the announcement had The White Lotus fans jumping for joy. Given her performances in The Gilded Age, we’re sure she’s well prepared to take on the part of a wealthy guest at The White Lotus.

Leslie Bibb

The Christine Everhart actress seems to be making a habit of playing characters in shows that tackle class divides, as she is also set to have a major part in the soon-to-be-released Palm Royale. Her resume speaks for itself, and she has lots of comedic experience that will undoubtedly come in handy in her role in The White Lotus season 3.

Jason Isaacs

Internationally, Isaacs is probably best known for his turn as the slimy Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter series. The talented actor has some pretty impressive achievements in his career, which spans both the stage and screen, and has been in beloved, critically acclaimed productions like Black Hawk Down and The Death of Stalin. We’re sure his gravitas will come in handy here, as will his cut-glass English accent, which just oozes wealth.

Parker Posey

Indie queen Parker Posey (not the gross bigot who seems to have stolen her name) hasn’t just been in small, artsy productions as many people assume. One of her earliest roles was in Dazed and Confused, she was in Scream 3, and even had that most coveted marker of mainstream acceptance: A voiceover role in The Simpsons. The talented performer is sure to be captivating no matter what her role in season 3 of The White Lotus is.

The Thai heartthrob is very much under the radar at the moment, but that’s all set to change when season 3 of The White Lotus is released. He’s had some small roles in a few movies, including a TV miniseries about the famous Thai cave rescue that should have signalled just how stupid Elon Musk was to anybody with a brain.

Dom Hetrakul

Hetrakul is a Thai-born actor and has made several films and shows in his native land. This would be his first major Western production, but he’s not exactly a newbie, so we’re certain he’ll put on a great show.

Natasha Rothwell

The White Lotus season 1 fan favorite Natasha Rothwell is set to reprise her role as massage therapist Belinda. She was nominated for an Emmy when she last played the part, so it’s fair to expect another outstanding performance.

As the only actor whose character we currently know, we can speculate a little about what might happen to Belinda in this third season. A solid guess is that she’s been transferred to Thailand after her stint in Hawaii, where she met and was ultimately disappointed by Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya. Audiences will be hopeful that she’s finally received the promotions and respect she deserves, but given that this is The White Lotus universe, where talent takes a backseat to wealth, it’s unlikely.

Michelle Monaghan

Monaghan’s most famous HBO role was in the critically acclaimed first season of True Detective, for which she was nominated for a boatload of awards, including a Golden Globe. We’re sure that the Mission: Impossible actress will keep up the quality in whatever role she’s taken on for season 3 of The White Lotus.

Lisa Manobal

Thai-born K-Pop icon Lisa has been confirmed by Variety to have a part in season 3. As with the others, her exact role isn’t confirmed. This will be her first acting role, but given her band Blackpink is one of the most successful in the world, we don’t think she’ll be that phased.

Who else has been confirmed as part of the cast for White Lotus season 3?

Walton Goggins

The huge ensemble cast for season 3 is also confirmed to include the following names:

Walton Goggins, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Aimee Lou Wood, Sam Nivola, Sarah Catherine Hook, Christian Friedel, Julian Kostov, Morgana O’Reilly, Natasha Rothwell, Lek Patravadi, Scott Glenn, sca Corney, Nicholas Duvernay, Arnas Fedaravičius, and Shalini Peiris.

Jason Isaacs will star in another film adaptation of a best-selling, award-winning British children’s book. Isaacs — famous for portraying Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films — will play a role in The Boy at the Back of the Class, based on Onjali Q. Rauf’s lauded children’s book. The English actor, whose earlier features include Black Hawk Down, Peter Pan, and Hotel Mumbai, will act alongside Oscar winner Vanessa Redgrave and Slumdog Millionaire‘s Freida Pinto.

Over half a million copies of The Boy at the Back of the Class have sold in the United Kingdom since its publication in 2018, per The Hollywood Reporter. The book has received several awards, including the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize, the Blue Peter Book Award, the Sheffield Children’s Book Award, and the Janusz Kor-czak Prize.

In The Boy in the Back of the Class, we follow Alexa, a ninth-grader, and her friendship with a new student named Ahmet. Penguin Random House writes: “There used to be an empty chair at the back of Mrs. Khan’s classroom, but on the third Tuesday of the school year a new kid fills it: nine-year-old Ahmet, a Syrian refugee. The whole class is curious about this new boy–he doesn’t seem to smile, and he doesn’t talk much. But after learning that Ahmet fled a Very Real War” and was separated from his family along the way, a determined group of his classmates band together to concoct the Greatest Idea in the World–a magnificent plan to reunite Ahmet with his loved ones. “

Director Stephen Herek (101 Dalmations) will helm the picture from a script by Tim John. Studio Pictures’ Adam Rolston and David Braithwaite are the producers, and Paul Grindey and Picnik Entertainment’s Nicola Pearcey are the show’s executive producers. Production on the film will begin later this year.

Hogwarts Legacy is about to hit consoles this Feb. 10, but while Warner Bros. and developers Avalanche Software might be wishing there was nothing but positive publicity around this flashy new Wizarding World video game, unfortunately, the discourse surrounding it has been dominated by the ramifications of Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling‘s continuing transphobic tirade. Fans have a lot to say on the matter, and so too, it seems, has the cast of the original HP movies.

Many of the leading stars of the films that introduced screen audiences to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the first place have already made clear how they feel about Rowling’s attitudes long before Hogwarts Legacy came about. While some have stood their ground in opposition to the billionaire writer’s views, others have been less damning, with certain cast even coming out in her defense. Here are all the most notable reactions to Rowling’s rhetoric from Harry Potter stars.

Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint

In the wake of Rowling’s anti-trans views becoming abundantly clear for the first time back in summer 2020, thankfully the so-called Golden Trio quickly spoke out against her opinions and in of the trans community. While all three have been careful not to disparage the author as a person, Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) have made clear — on at least two occasions each at the time of writing — that they have no truck with Rowling’s hurtful comments, much to the relief of their millions of fans.

On the other hand, a trio of their fellow former Harry Potter stars have not come down so hard on J.K. Rowling. While likewise attempting to distance themselves from Rowling’s transphobic rhetoric and making clear that they don’t share her views, these three actors have nonetheless attempted to remain impartial in the matter and have refrained from speaking ill of the creator.

First, Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) has stressed that he doesn’t “tend to pick sides,” describing himself as “pro-love,” but he did offer his glowing opinion of Rowling that “no one has single-handedly done more for bringing joy to so many different generations and walks of life.”

Felton’s on-screen father Jason Isaacs ironically said much the same to The Telegraph in Jan. 2022. Although itting that he didn’t want to “get drawn into the trans issues,” which he feels is an “extraordinary minefield,” Isaacs stated: “She has her opinions, I have mine. They differ in many different areas.” He did, however, praise Rowling’s extensive charity work, which he called “unequivocally good.”

Lastly, Harry Melling (Dudley Dursley) offered something of a synthesis of the Golden Trio’s responses with the neutrality of the on-screen Malfoys. He informed The Independent in Jan. 2023: “I can only speak for myself, and what I feel, to me, is very simple, which is that transgender women are women and transgender men are men.” That said, he added, “I don’t want to the debate of pointing fingers and saying, ‘That’s right, that’s wrong,’ because I don’t think I’m the correct spokesperson for that.”

Ralph Fiennes, Helena Bonham Carter, and Robbie Coltrane

At the other end of the scale, three additional Harry Potter stars have strongly spoken out in Rowling’s defense. The Dark Lord himself Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort) has decried the “verbal abuse” directed at the writer as “disgusting” and “appalling,” as well as maintaining that Rowling’s views do not make her an “uber Right-wing fascist.” Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) appears to sympathize with Rowling herself, bemoaning the “witch hunt” around her and stressed that she thinks “she’s allowed her opinion.” Last but not least, Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) waded into the debate prior to his death, commenting: “‘I don’t think what she said was offensive, really. ”

Fan art imagines an MCU Magneto we never considered, but would love to see https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/news/fan-art-imagines-an-mcu-magneto-we-never-considered-but-would-love-to-see/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/news/fan-art-imagines-an-mcu-magneto-we-never-considered-but-would-love-to-see/#respond Wed, 28 Dec 2022 18:52:51 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1385046 There really isn't a better person to play this mutated mega Marvel villain.]]>

Who doesn’t love the Marvel fandom? Just when you think they couldn’t get more creative, they go ahead and produce another spot on fan casting that we absolutely adore — proving once and for all that the Hollywood bigwigs aren’t the only ones able to dream up a good idea.

It’s true that the MCU has been no stranger to speculation. For over a decade these tales of suspense have been met with countless instances of rumor, gossip, and innuendo. More than that, fans of the franchise continue to cast their favorite entertainers as potential heroes or villains. And now, enter Jason Isaacs as Magneto. Chef’s kiss.

Seriously, is there a better person to play this master of magnetism? Isaacs certainly has the gravitas to carry a role like Magneto, and a track record of on-screen villainy to prove it. After all, the guy played Lucius Malfoy, and he was about as evil as they come.

Let’s also not forget that he lent his voice to the terrifying iral Zhao in Avatar: The Last Airbender, and fought against freedom as Col. William Tavington in The Patriot. Is anyone starting to notice a pattern here?

In real life, Jason Issacs seems like a nice enough fellow, but on-screen it’s clear that he has the capacity to truly frighten audiences across the globe. It’s why Magneto makes so much sense for this legend of British cinema — Marvel could be making a big mistake if they don’t at least consider him for the role. For now, the MCU’s mutants have gone largely unnoticed, but with an entirely new phase on the horizon, we’re sure that’s going to change.

‘Harry Potter’ star would have loved to ‘chill out’ with Snoop Dogg’s nightmarish Dobby https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/harry-potter-star-would-have-loved-to-chill-out-with-snoop-doggs-nightmarish-dobby/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/harry-potter-star-would-have-loved-to-chill-out-with-snoop-doggs-nightmarish-dobby/#respond Tue, 29 Nov 2022 20:51:55 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1361911 Who needs a sock when you've got a blun - nevermind.]]>

Snoop Dogg, known for being the epitome of chill, took to Twitter earlier this week to share a detailed yet nightmarish art piece of himself as Dobby the House-elf from Harry Potter, henceforth dubbed Snoop Dobby Dobb. The high-foreheaded, pointed-eared rendition of Dobby Dobb raised more than a few eyebrows, but perhaps none more than Jason Isaacs, the actor who played the House-elf’s former master, Lucius Malfoy in the movies.

In a tweet sharing Snoop Dogg’s frighteningly intricate art piece, Isaacs cemented in history the one collaboration fans of both Harry Potter and Snoop Dogg can confidently say they never saw coming.

“Might’ve chilled Lucius out a little,” Isaacs wrote, and he’s not wrong.

More than any other character besides Lord Voldemort, Lucius Malfoy needed some Mary Jane in his life. Imagine the stress-free life he could’ve enjoyed had he just tossed a t back and forth with Dobby instead of abusing the House-elf and causing him to shut his ears in oven doors and turn on the Malfoy family and devote the rest of his life to helping Harry Potter bring down Voldemort which ultimately leads to the shattering of Lucius’ air of superiority and causing him to become universally pitied by the entire Wizarding World and flee forever in desperation? Just saying.

Even Isaacs’ Twitter bio acknowledges that Lucius was a “failed Death Eater.” You can’t put it more bluntly than that.

The real kicker here is Isaac’s Twitter profile picture, which shows himself puckering up to a 3-D model of Dobby the House-elf. Now, all we see is Snoop Dogg’s Dobby Dobb and nothing will be the same ever again. Thanks, Snoop. Another collaboration in the books. You really know how to pick ’em.

Jason Isaacs’ wife was relieved he didn’t get to keep his ‘Event Horizon’ body mold https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/movies/jason-isaacs-wife-relieved-he-didnt-keep-event-horizon-body-mold/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/movies/jason-isaacs-wife-relieved-he-didnt-keep-event-horizon-body-mold/#respond Mon, 15 Aug 2022 16:36:00 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1275657 "I was aggrieved about it."]]>

The Event Horizon movie is one of those horror projects you cannot unsee after a viewing. It features disturbing imagery, has legendary lost footage, and now, as the film has turned 25, star Jason Isaacs says his wife is glad he took nothing from it home.

For those unaware, the film was released in 1997. It follows a crew in 2047 sent to investigate a ship which mysteriously disappeared for almost a decade before suddenly reappearing. Once they arrive a journey into madness takes place and several people die. Jason Isaacs’ D.J. gets put through a wringer and needed a body cast and, in an Inverse report, he says his wife thought his notion of keeping it and, being upset it cost more than he ultimately made for the piece, was something which was a bit absurd.

“I had my arms spread out and leaned on a big cross. It was in a slightly open warehouse with lots of worker bees with masks on and boiler suits. I kept my underpants on, and they went, ‘you can be naked if you like. Kate Winslet’s just been in and done her fanny.’ And I went, ‘well, good for Kate Winslet, she’s bolder than I am. I’m keeping my undies on.’ It was just perfect — and incredibly strange – to see this facsimile of me. I asked to keep it, and they said, ‘no, it cost a fortune, mate.’ I can’t the figure, but I think it might have cost more than I got paid for the cost of the film. And I said, ‘what are you going to do with it">hopes for a Snyder Cut scenario for lost footage.

These days, in entertainment, English actors are often the first ones who get the chance to play characters from elsewhere. Benedict Cumberbatch is the American Dr. Stephen Strange, and, now, Jason Isaacs will be bringing acting legend Cary Grant back to life.

Per Deadline, the Harry Potter franchise veteran will be telling Grant’s story in a four-part production from ITV and BritBox International. The work comes from Philomena’s Jeff Pope, and it will be titled Archie after Grant’s birth name of Archibald Alexander Leach. Grant was born in the U.K. before he moved to the United States as a teenager, and Isaacs says he is not so much stepping into his shoes as trying to showcase someone unknown.

“There was only one Cary Grant and I’d never be foolish enough to try to step into his iconic shoes. Archie Leach, on the other hand, couldn’t be further from the character he invented to save himself.”

The show will follow his journey while intercutting scenes from 1961. At this time, he was desperately unhappy in life and ultimately set out to romance a TV star who was 30 years younger than him. Grant retired from acting in film in 1966 and died in 1986. In his active years, he appeared in 70 projects and was twice nominated for Academy Awards. Pope says the work — which has the blessing of Grant’s family — will work to understand him, and so much of who he is comes from his young experiences.

“Cary Grant became one of the most iconic figures of the twentieth century, beloved by presidents and paupers. The key to everything, lay in his childhood.”

Archie does not have a release date as of this story being filed.
