If the first season of Billy Bob Thorton’s Landman has you hooked, don’t worry: it looks like there will be a second season of the gripping Western drama from Paramount.

WATCH NOW: Landman on Paramount

What is Landman about?

The series was created by Christian Wallace, the host of the Texas Monthly podcast Boomtown, and is written by Taylor Sheridan. Thornton stars as Tommy Norris, who works as a landman for an independent oil rig. Norris is nearly always battling one crisis or another, whether that’s due to lawsuits, working conditions that need to be improved, or something in his personal life.

When did Landman come out?

The first season of the show debuted on Paramount on January 12, 2025, and fans are already clamoring for more. Though the streamer has yet to confirm a follow-up series, there are encouraging signs (including the cast and crew’s stated enthusiasm) that make the possibility seem likely.

In a January 2025 interview with TheWrap, Thornton said, “I think Tommy’s driven to make it a success, but at the same time, scared s—tless right now, to take this on, and probably does not want to do it. He does not want to take any kind of an executive position. And I got a feeling, if there were a season 2 [another wink] that he’s going to drag a lot of the landmen into it.”

Who else is in Landman?

The show also stars Mad Men alum Jon Hamm as oil CEO Monty Miller and Demi Moore as his wife Cami. While attending the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, Moore made it clear that she would love to return to the character.

“It’s a very interesting world in the boomtown of Fort Worth, Texas. It’s kind of this subculture that we haven’t seen before, which is what I think Taylor does so well,” the actress told Deadline of the series. “I play an oil tycoon’s wife… lots of nice clothes. The substance of it is really exploring the issues around oil, petroleum, on all sides…and then of course there’s – as Taylor does so well – there’s delicious drama within and family dynamics.”

When will the second season of Landman begin filming?

Again, there has been no official confirmation that a second season will happen, but Thornton previously told Entertainment Weekly that if filming is to begin, it will probably be in February or March of 2025.

“I understand that if we’re going to do that, season 2, that it’s going to be sometime around February, March, somewhere in there,” Thornton said last year. “I mean, we’ll see. It just depends on how the chips may fall, you never know in this business. But if we do it, I think [we’re] going to try to do it around that.”

Knock knock: Mark Hamill shares the lengthy list of comedians who are backing Kamala Harris for President https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/knock-knock-mark-hamill-shares-the-lengthy-list-of-comedians-who-are-backing-kamala-harris-for-president/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/knock-knock-mark-hamill-shares-the-lengthy-list-of-comedians-who-are-backing-kamala-harris-for-president/#respond Tue, 06 Aug 2024 08:21:52 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1735332 Jason Bateman, Nick Offerman and Ben Stiller are among those who've thrown behind Harris. ]]>

Democrats are now united behind Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, and a star-studded assortment of famous comedians held an open mic Zoom call to rally efforts behind the Democratic nominee.

Dubbed ‘Comics for Kamala’, the event took place on August 8 and enlisted a starry lineup that included the likes of Patton Oswalt, Kathy Griffin, Jon Hamm, Kathryn Hahn, Ed Helms, and Jason Bateman, among others.

Ben Stiller, Nick Offerman and Cecily Strong also appeared during the standup-oriented event, while famous friends like Mark Hamill made their attendance known while promoting the event on social media. “I’ll be ing some of the funniest people on the planet in of [Harris] for President!” the Star Wars actor wrote on X. “I promise to just listen & not tell a single knock-knock joke.”

According to Variety, Offerman’s guest speaker role during the event included a parody song in which he described Harris’ opponent, Donald Trump, as a “spray-tanned tool” and said he and running mate JD Vance are “f***ing weird.” For her part, Hahn said on the Zoom call that “truly it has been Kamala all along,” as a reference to her character Agatha Harkness from WandaVision

While the ‘Comics for Kamala’ call was free, there were requests for donations throughout the event, and it’s estimated to have raised some $460,000 at the time of writing. It took place on the same day as an ‘Elders for Kamala’ fundraising event, which was also run over Zoom and was attended by Bernie Sanders and Jane Fonda, among others.

Over the past few weeks, a flurry of similar virtual fundraising events has been organized in of the Harris campaign, from the ‘White Women for Harris’ Zoom call attended by Connie Britton and P!nk to a ‘White Dudes for Harris’ event that raised $4 million dollars.

Hamill, Offerman, Fonda and Britton aren’t the only high-profile names who have endorsed Harris’ ascent, with celebrities like George Clooney, Cardi B, Barbra Streisand and Jamie Lee Curtis each ing the VP’s presidential bid in recent weeks. Heck, even a bunch of notable Republicans have publicly declared their intention to vote for Harris come November.

As for the celebrity endorsements of her opponent, the star power is a little dimmer, and housed somewhere between the D to Z-list. Amber Rose, Hulk Hogan and 50 Cent are among Trump’s most famous ers, and he has the comedian front covered with Rob Schneider and Rosanne Barr, both of whom haven’t really made anyone laugh in years.

‘He would be fabulous’: Former Iron Man is badgering Marvel to put him back in the MCU, and fans know exactly who he should play https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/marvel/he-would-be-fabulous-former-iron-man-is-badgering-marvel-to-put-him-back-in-the-mcu-and-fans-know-exactly-who-he-should-play/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/marvel/he-would-be-fabulous-former-iron-man-is-badgering-marvel-to-put-him-back-in-the-mcu-and-fans-know-exactly-who-he-should-play/#respond Fri, 21 Jun 2024 11:44:26 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1711782 Marvel would be mad to turn him down. ]]>

An ex-Iron Man needs to come back to the Marvel multiverse! But it’s not the one you’re thinking of…

Yes, of course, everyone and their (Cosmo the Space) dog wants Robert Downey Jr. to return to the MCU in Avengers 5 or 6, but for now it seems like the Oppenheimer actor is content with making movies that win him Oscars instead of comic book cinema (pfft, he needs to sort out his priorities). So instead let’s start the campaign to get Kevin Feige to rehire another old Armored Avenger who is practically banging on Marvel Studios’ door to let him in.

The Iron Man star in question is actually Mad Men‘s own Jon Hamm. For those unaware, Hamm actually voiced Tony Stark in Hulu’s MODOK animated series. As a lifelong superhero fan, he’s circled Marvel and DC movies for years now. While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Hamm confirmed that he was once offered the role of Green Lantern. However, while that was “one I definitely didn’t want to do,” he has made it known that he would love a role with Marvel.

“But I’ve pitched myself for a couple parts of the Marvel universe. I don’t want to say what exactly, but it was a part of a comic book that I really liked. I was like, “Are you going to do this story?” And they were like, “Yeah, we’re actually thinking of that.” I go, “Good. I should be the guy.” So maybe it’ll work out.”

While Hamm’s remaining mum about which part it was he pitched for himself, the Marvel fandom has its own ideas for which characters he’d be best suited for. And one stands head and spiky shoulders above the rest…

Jon Hamm needs to the MCU to fix the final mistake of Fox’s X-Men universe

Given Hamm’s range as an actor, the possibilities for who he could portray in the MCU are limitless, hence why the folks of the Marvel Studios subreddit have come up with more options than there will be heroes in Avengers 5. Someone suggested he could be the big bad of Secret Wars, albeit it better looking than we had expected the character to be. “Stupid sexy Beyonder,” they commented.

Or maybe he could inherit a role previously occupied by John Mulaney in Sony’s Spider-Verse. I mean, the reasoning behind the casting speaks for itself. “Spider Hamm,” suggested one regular comedian. Someone else offered, “Narrator of Legion,” as another potential MCU role. Extra points for obscurity on that one — Hamm has another Marvel connection under his belt thanks to providing the narration on the underrated FX X-Men show.

But there’s one clear winner for Hamm’s perfect MCU part according to Reddit, and it’s hard to argue with. “Sinister,” wrote one Redditor, echoing the thoughts of many a fan. “A Sinister would make a fresh start for a first X-Men movie in the MCU.” Someone else agreed, “He would be fabulous.” Another opined, “I think he could be so good in that role.”

For context, Hamm was actually originally cast as Mr. Sinister aka Nathaniel Essex for what would’ve been a cameo in New Mutants. However, Fox never bothered to shoot the scene once Disney bought out the company and was destined to reboot the X-Men itself. Hamm has previously opened up about his frustrations with how this played out, so it would only make sense for Marvel to make things right and finally allow him the chance to don Sinister’s glorious safety-hazard shoulder pads.

8 ‘Mean Girls’ tweaks that could make the 2024 reboot even better than the original https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/movies/8-mean-girls-tweaks-that-could-make-the-2024-reboot-even-better-than-the-original/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/movies/8-mean-girls-tweaks-that-could-make-the-2024-reboot-even-better-than-the-original/#respond Fri, 05 Jan 2024 19:22:36 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1644733 The Plastics are back on the big screen in a 'fresh interpretation' of the 2004 classic close to the hearts of countless millennials.]]>

The Queen Bee has nearly returned! Mean Girls will be in theatres across the U.S on Jan. 12, and eager fans of the classic original are counting down the days.

In an interview with EW, SNL dictator and the film’s producer Lorne Michaels has said this isn’t a reboot, but “a new interpretation.” He added that he wanted it to be “a familiar enough story,” but “for today.” So, it seems that anybody who is expecting a shot-for-shot remake with a few musical interludes is going to be disappointed.

Anybody who’s seen Mean Girls: The Musical could have told you that the stage version (which the new film is based on) has a number of key differences from the iconic original. In the final trailer, we can see some of the changes that we can expect from this new version, as well as a few of the legendary scenes that have survived the transformation.

All of this got us thinking: what else will differ about this new big screen version? And would some modern twists improve the original? We thought it would be totally fetch to list 8 Mean Girls tweaks that could make the 2024 reboot even better than the original. Some of these are definitely happening, and some are our best guesses on potential changes, but either way we’re sure it’s going to be as fun as a Ladysmith Black Mombazo gig!

Coach Carr being less of a creep

Jon Hamm

Creep is actually too weak a word for Coach Carr in the original, in which he dates his high school students. Back in 2004 there was less widespread condemnation about sexual relations between staff and pupils. It was still seen as highly taboo, but like with so many cases of abuse driven by power imbalances, many people simply looked the other way. So, in that context, the fact the original jokes about it isn’t too outlandish, as it’s something many of the writers and producers would have grown up with.

In the stage musical, Carr is definitely not the best suited to teaching kids sex education, but he doesn’t try to sleep with any of them. Hopefully his character in the 2024 film (played by the unbearably handsome Jon Hamm) follows a similar path of avoiding normalizing this kind of abuse.

Harnessing the power of social media

Even though we’re all obsessed with it, there’s no doubt that social media has caused more harm than good. From aiding genocides in Myanmar (thanks Zuck!) to causing a generation’s-worth of mental illness, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and all the rest have plenty to answer for. Yes, that includes you, Reddit.

On a micro-level, social media has had a huge impact on the social dynamics of high schoolers. If this film is an interpretation and not a reboot, then that needs to be explored for it to really make sense. Plus, we’re sure there’s room for plenty of humor among the bullying and misinformation.

Giving it a fresh perspective…literally

The 2004 film is Cady’s story, and as such is narrated by her. However, the musical is narrated by Janis and Damian, which gives it a completely different dimension, and allows us to get a look at Cady from a new perspective.

We’re not saying that Cady’s first friends at North Shore High should be the ones to do a voiceover, or that there should even be one. But new or multiple narrators could open the story in different ways, and give depth to other characters without having to compromise run-time.

More Damian

Poor “too gay to function” Damian. Although he was the source of some of the most quotable lines in the 2004 version of Mean Girls (“she doesn’t even go here!”), he was also a pretty shallow and one-dimensional character. The “gay best friend” trope has mostly died out now, and we’re getting more and better queer content than ever, so it’s the perfect time to thrust the singer of our favorite rendition of “Beautiful” into the limelight.

Updating the laughs

Mean Girls

The original Mean Girls is progressive for its day in many ways, but some of the dicier jokes don’t land so well with an audience who prefer punching up to down. Also, a chunk of the dialogue is a bit of its time, with references to things like landline phones. Even the stage musical retains a few of these dated elements.

This new version is the perfect opportunity to spruce up the script, and in the trailer we can already see some of the ways that’s been achieved. One great example is the “slay/sleigh” joke made by Mrs George (the ever-incredible Busy Phillipps).

Thankfully, it seems the new film will also keep some of the lower brow humor of the first, as shown by Coach Carr’s excellently offensive punning (“whoremones”). We’re also hoping for a return of the legend that is Glen Coco.

Being a real representation of Chicago

Mean Girls 2024

The movie will be set in Chicago, and unlike the original, the new version will have a ratio of faces that would genuinely appear in a school in most modern American cities.

It’s not just extras, either. Damian will be played by the incredible Jaquel Spivey (Mean Girls: the Musical and A Strange Loop, the latter of which is utterly genius), Janis by Auli’i Cravalho, and Karen by relative newcomer Avantica Vandanapu. So, that’s three of the main cast that will add some much needed melanin to the movie.

Carefully selecting the musical numbers

The stars of Mean Girls perform a Christmas song at the talent show.

Anybody who’s been following the new film’s development will be aware there are fewer musical numbers in the movie than there are onstage. This means whichever ones make the cut will need to be bangers.

If the latest trailer is anything to go by, then “Revenge Party” is set to be included, as it’s referenced in the video’s title (although the film producers didn’t play it during the trailer, which is bordering on sadistic). We hope some other hits, like “Stupid Love” and “What’s Wrong With Me">via IMDb

Poor old Gretchen. In the original, she does manage to stand up to Regina, but never really has the chance to confront Cady for treating her badly. At the end, she doesn’t find her true self like the others, instead latching onto another Queen Bee.

In the stage musical, Gretchen is a little more self aware, and has a smidgeon more self respect. We hope this character tweak is kept in the 2024 version, as it adds a little more depth to what’s already a fan favorite.

For cord-cutters who could do without the cable experience but still want to enjoy the suave series Mad Men, there are options out there for viewing the show via digital means. However, just what are the available options?

In case you slept on it, Mad Men is one of the most acclaimed dramas of the 21st century that stands alongside Breaking Bad as one of AMC’s most prestigious television experiences. The show cemented actor Jon Hamm as the charismatic but deeply flawed Don Draper, a 1960s advertising professional. Thanks to Elisabeth Moss’ Peggy Olson, an up-and-comer at Sterling Cooper who is essentially a co-protagonist, we are given a feminist deconstruction of the patriarchic society in which the firm operates. It’s a show known as much for its intellect as it is for its jaw-dropping dramatic twists and unflinching look into the somewhat raunchy underbelly that defined a pre-hippie generation.

Where can I stream Mad Men?

Now that you’re no doubt completely on board for checking out Mad Men yourself, there are numerous outlets for you to catch up on the series that originally ran from 2007-2015. For one thing, you could always buy individual episodes or entire seasons via platforms such as Amazon and Vudu, which offer all seven seasons. Episodes usually cost $1.99 with whole seasons going for $9.99. However, there is another option: streaming.

Currently, Mad Men is not available via a typical outlet like Netflix. However, if you’re willing to expand your horizons, you could subscribe to AMC Plus, a proprietary streaming platform for the cable network that gains you access to not only Mad Men but also other quality programs like The Walking Dead Dead City and Creepshow as well as great movies constantly added in a regular rotation of content.

The starting price for AMC Plus — which includes full access to Shudder, Sundance Now, and IFC Films Unlimited — begins at $4.99 per month, though you’ll have to contend with ads. There is an ad-free tier for $8.99 per month which has the added benefit of being able to content to your device. It also works out to be a cheaper monthly rate, at $6.99 per month, if you choose the tier via an annual bill of $83.88. Whatever the case, any subscription you get comes with six live TV channels as well.

To use AMC Plus, you can experience it via a web browser on your computer or the AMC Plus app to your device. You can also find the AMC Plus app within your main content platform such as Apple, Roku, and Xfinity. What’s more, you may also sign up for AMC Plus through Prime Video as a channel add-on.

Could ‘Killers 2’ with Ashton Kutcher ever reach fruition, and more importantly, should it? https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/movies/could-killers-2-with-ashton-kutcher-ever-reach-fruition-and-more-importantly-should-it/ Tue, 19 Sep 2023 12:05:52 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1589108 Ashton Kutcher's star-power and controversies have propelled 'Killers' to cinematic and streaming success across two decades.]]>

Watching Killers rise to the number two spot on Netflix’s Top 10 feels like déjà vu. Its re-emergence in 2023 and its initial success in 2010 share a common catalyst: Ashton Kutcher.

The lead actor’s influence helped Killers triumph during its theatrical debut and on streaming platforms. But does it truly merit a film franchise?

Star-Power and Killers’ Lasting Legacy

The past and current success of Killers seems to ride the massive waves of controversy occasionally created by its leading man. Shortly after it hit the silver screen, allegations of infidelity involving Ashton and his then-wife, Demi Moore, found their way into the pages of Star Magazine. He responded by publishing a strongly worded denial on social media.

Eventually, an indiscreet night at Danny Masterson’s bachelor party culminated in marriage-ending headlines. However, the bad press generated good box office for the star. Despite Killers’ flimsy plot and lack of originality, the movie earned a global gross of $98.1 million against a production budget of $75 million. Ashton’s appeal and the scandal surrounding him played a pivotal role in its achievement

Controversy is King

Fast forward to 2023, and a fresh scandal involving Ashton and his current wife, Mila Kunis. The couple is facing a backlash from the public due to their contentious letters seeking leniency for Danny Masterson. Like clockwork, Killers has found its audience, baffling critics who universally panned the movie. Once again, his magnetism and a media debacle drive interest in the film. Its resurgence poses the intriguing question: might Ashton return for a sequel?

What Is Killers About?

Kathleen Heigl and Ashton Kutcher. Killers.
Screen capture. YouTube.

Killers tells the story of Jen Kornfeldt (Katherine Heigl), a woman who travels to the sun-drenched shores of southern to recover from a difficult break-up. During the trip, she falls in love with Spencer Aimes (Kutcher), the man of her dreams. They marry and settle down in an picturesque suburb. However, an attempted murder shatters their idyllic life, and Spencer must come clean about his past. He reveals he is a professional assassin and lets Jen know there is a bounty on him. Killers is a chronicle of clichés told with astonishingly awful dialogue. Case in point: “Let’s just say I work for the blah blah blah, and they gave me a license to blah.” Ironically, “blah” was critics’ go-to descriptor to warn viewers about the perceived mind-numbing tedium of Killers. Yet, despite the lambasting, the movie did surprisingly well.

The Comfort of Simplicity Amid Life’s Complexities

killers-2010

Killers is an unpretentious action-comedy that offers the simple pleasures of laughter and love amid some high-octane scenes. Like Ashton Kutcher, Katherine Heigl was a household name in 2010, ensuring that the movie would at least pique the interest of film lovers. Then as now, it was released in a time of economic instability and the film’s predictability was just what the doctor ordered.

Killers‘ endgame is not social commentary or profound insights into human nature. Its sole mission is to entertain. It is a star-driven film willing to meet the needs of movie fans who like a bit of levity now and then.

Why Killers Captivates Audiences

Screen capture. YouTube.

Killers’ success never fails to baffle the naysayers because they don’t understand the cinematic palate of some rom-com fans. Ashton’s razor-sharp business acumen makes it easy to forget that a film like Killers is on-brand for him because it’s silly fun with a good-looking guy. What’s not to like?

A simple glance at Ashton’s IMdB movie credits reveals a pattern in the roles that helped him ascend to stardom: beautiful moron Jesse Montgomery in Dude, Where’s My Car?; daft hunk Kelso on That 70s Show; and pretty boy prankster-in-chief on Punk’d. Movie fans seem unconcerned with the substance of his films because back in 2010, Ashton was shamelessly self-indulgent eye candy whether he wore a trucker hat or a tuxedo. He was the real-life version of the character Drew Baird (Jon Hamm) from the “The Bubble” episode of 30 Rock. Thus, his audience is content with feel-good escapism wrapped in a handsome yet relatable package. No matter how absurd and derivative his movies are, Ashton invariably ends up laughing all the way to the bank.

For this reason, despite being savaged by critics, Killers enjoyed moderate success at the box office. The film earned $15.8 million during its opening weekend due to the popularity of its lead actor. At the time, Ashton was half of a Hollywood power couple and a prominent presence on the hottest social media app back in 2010, Twitter. Even amidst negative press, seeing him continues to evoke fond memories for his fans, who are shame-watching Killers in droves despite his ethically elastic of Masterson.

Conclusion

Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher in Killers (2010)
Screen capture. YouTube.

Killers’ ability to become the second most-watched film on Netflix may present an economic opportunity. The film has an audience, and its newfound popularity suggests Ashton’s pretty privilege is undiminished by scandals, low scores on Rotten Tomatoes, and Father Time. Earlier this year, he starred in Your Place Or Mine, so he is still an engaging romantic lead despite his dad status and high-flying career as a venture capitalist. A sequel to Killers could happen.

But is there truly a need for a Killers 2? Those who view the original film as unapologetic escapist nonsense would say once was enough. However, even viewers who enjoyed the film might agree that it has already squeezed every last drop from the proverbial lemon.

Killers is streaming on Netflix.

The 10 best Jon Hamm movies and TV shows, ranked https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/the-10-best-jon-hamm-movies-and-tv-shows-ranked/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/the-10-best-jon-hamm-movies-and-tv-shows-ranked/#respond Mon, 24 Jul 2023 18:35:25 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1543347 The man famous for playing Don Draper made that role his own, but he's starred in a number of other great films and shows.]]>

Although he’s now considered a real A-lister, Jon Hamm was close to giving up on his acting dream after being dropped by his agency in his twenties. Thankfully for lovers of the hunky American, he hung in there, and now has a filmography and awards cabinet that would turn most actors green with envy. He’s probably best known for his time on the period drama Mad Men, where he played the charismatic and morally ambiguous ad-man Don Draper, but he’d managed to build a pretty good resume before that, and since then he’s had the opportunity to show off his talent in a wide number of varying roles. If you’re interested in seeing more of the actor, or just want to know where to begin with his back catalogue, then have a look at our list of the 10 best Jon Hamm movies and TV shows, ranked.

10. Bridesmaids

Hamm is briliant during his relatively small amount of screentime in this raunchy ensemble comedy about female friendship, the fear of being left behind, and the consequences of mixing questionable food with bridal dress shopping. He plays the self-involved, uncaring, but stupidly hot man who is sleeping with the main character, Annie (Kristen Wiig), without offering her any commitment, or even the implication that he sees her as anything more than a bed for the night. While the audience rightfully finds him irritating, he brings just enough charm to the role that you can see why Annie is a little obsessed with him (well, that and his face and body).

9. Good Omens

This supernatural, religious-ish Prime Video series is an adaptation of the ultra-successful novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman (the latter of whom has written the series). Set in modern times, the plot follows a demon named Crowley (David Tennant) and the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) — the two representatives of heaven and hell on Earth — who have agreed to ignore the conflict between their two belief systems and maintain a friendship (and an easy life). However, when they discover the antichrist is on the way, they decide to team up to stop him. Hamm plays the angel Gabriel, who was only mentioned once in the novel but gets a full arc in the series, and the Mad Men star acts the part brilliantly, stealing the limelight whenever he’s on screen.

8. Beirut

Hamm shows his serious side in this political action thriller which is set in the midst of the Lebanese civil war. In it, he plays a former diplomat named Mason Skiles, who is sent to Beirut to rescue his colleague. However, it’s not just his workmate’s life that’s on his mind, as the same group that kidnapped him was responsible for killing his wife. Despite some controversy around the film because of its trailer, which heavily implied a white savior narrative, Beirut itself is surprisingly nuanced, not only in of its characters but also how it handled the controversial region in which it was set. Add a tight, tense plot, and you have a great flick.

7. 30 Rock

Although he’s known for his brooding performances, Hamm showed off his comedic chops multiple times during his guest appearances on Tina Fey’s 30 Rock. His most memorable character was that of Drew, a brief love interest of Liz Lemon’s (Fey). Lemon quickly deduces that, because he’s so handsome, Drew lives in “the bubble” (also the name of the episode) – a place which attractive people inhabit because the world bends to their every whim. As a result, Drew is lacking some basic skills, and some more important ones (he’s a doctor but can’t perform a heimlich, for one). His other performances came in different roles, but he was great throughout his run.

6. Baby Driver

This music-filled action comedy is full of fantastic performances from its principal cast, and Hamm doesn’t disappoint. The film follows a young getaway driver who is looking to escape from his life of crime along with his girlfriend, so they can live together in peace. Hamm plays a former finance worker whose intense drug habit brought him into the criminal world, although a midlife crisis is what’s keeping him there. Hamm’s role was the only part in the entire film written specifically for an actor, as director Edgar Wright and the star are long-time friends.

5. The Report

Another tense historical political drama, The Report (styled as The Torture Report) tells the story of investigations by the senate intelligence committe into the use of torture by the CIA in the wake of 9/11 and the invasion of Iraq. In a turn of events that will shock nobody who’s aware of the CIA’s history of doing stupid, illegal, and dangerous things with far-reaching consequences their agents don’t have the intelligence or empathy to consider, they were in fact torturing people, many of whom were innocent of any suspected crimes. Hamm plays Denis McDonough, who worked under Obama and was one of those responsible for redacting the report. To this day, none of the CIA agents involved in the torture program have been punished, and one was even promoted to head of the agency.

4. Top Gun: Maverick

Good things come to those who wait, and Top Gun: Maverick very much proved that belief. Released decades after the original, this sequel to the classic Tom Cruise action film earned well over a billion dollars at the box office, and critical acclaim to boot. In it, Maverick (Cruise) has become an air force teacher, training the next generation of pilots. But when a name from his past crops up, he realizes he hasn’t quite hung up his wings. Hamm plays the part of the big boss, Vice iral Beau “Cyclone” Simpson, and projects all the power you’d want from the role, while also playing a vital part in the plot.

3. Marjorie Prime

Hamm stars alongside other legends like Geena Davis, Tim Robbins, and Lois Smith in this moving, thought-provoking sci-fi film that delves into questions of memory, love, and what it means to be human. Marjorie (Smith) is an Alzheimer’s patient who utilizes a new technology to bring back a version of her dead husband (Hamm), who then tells her stories about their life together. This is an outstanding bit of cinema, and one that will definitely bring out the tears thanks to its heartfelt plot and the wonderful actors who bring it to life.

2. Black Mirror

While most Christmas episodes of shows are full of joy and redemption, this Black Mirror holiday “special” is anything but light and airy, but with that said “White Christmas” is widely considered to be one of the best episodes in this acclaimed anthology series. Hamm is one of two men who’ve been living in a cabin for five years, and we soon discover he was a sleazy former of an online forum of men who covertly watched each other seduce and sleep with women through the use of an implant that transmits the ’s vision and hearing. It’s then revealed that he and his companion are in a new bit of technology that controls how time is ing, and the man who Hamm’s character has been interacting with is a murderer, who will now be forced to live in a world where one real-life minute feels like a thousand years to him. Bleak and brilliant.

1. Mad Men

AMC hit the jackpot when they cast Hamm as the smooth-talking, hard-boozing and shadowy ad executive Don Draper, who’s the main character in this critically acclaimed series. Draper is charismatic and an advertising natural. In Mad Men we see his career through its ups and downs, while also being introduced to a number of other intriguing, well-rounded characters over the course of seven incredible seasons. Although he’s ed by a dynamite cast that includes January Jones, Elisabeth Moss, and John Slattery, Hamm is often the center of attention, and always impossible to take your eyes off of. There’s a reason he won an Emmy and two Golden Globes for this show.

Good Omens is finally flying back to our screens. “Finally!” cry all the Crowley and Aziraphale shippers who may feel like their prayers have been answered whilst watching the trailer. Let’s look at who is reprising their role, who is returning as a new character, and who is brand new in a show that loves to keep us on our toes.

Good Omens 2 picks up where we left off in season one, the antichrist has been disarmed and Armageddon avoided. It’s all in a day’s work for a demon and an angel duo. The two are now attempting to return to the way their lives were before, Aziraphale with his bookshop and Crowley doing, well whatever Crowley does. Their problems are not over though, with more trouble looming on the horizon.

A year before the first book’s publication, back in 1989, the two authors of Good Omens, Pratchett and Gaiman sat in their shared hotel room discussing a sequel that would never end up being written as their lives and other work took over. Now, that sequel has a chance to live through the television adaption, with Gaiman stating on his website:

“As Good Omens continues, we will be back in Soho, and all through time and space, solving a mystery which starts with one of the angels wandering through a Soho street market with no memory of who they might be, on their way to Aziraphale’s bookshop.”

The aforementioned angel is none other than Archangel Gabriel, leader of the angels of heaven. The tagline for the second season states that the story will deal with how the two try to figure out this new mess.

“While Crowley is leery as to why the archangel has come to the bookshop, Aziraphale is keen to solve the mystery behind Gabriel’s condition. However, hiding the archangel from both Heaven and Hell quickly disrupts their lives in unforeseen ways. To solve this mystery and thwart Heaven and Hell in the process, the duo will need more than a miracle; they’ll need to once again rely on each other.”

Good Omens has a rather expansive ensemble cast, with many characters playing smaller guest roles, so let’s have a look at who the main players will be.

Returning to their roles:

David Tennant – Crowley

David Tennant as Crowley in 'Good Omens'
Image via BBC Studios/Prime Video

Tennant (Doctor Who, Jessica Jones) is returning as the grumpy demon Crowley, who has gone down in biblical history as being the demon who turned into a snake in order to trick Eve into eating the apple, thus resulting in humanity leaving the Garden of Eden. Since then, the demon has been bumming around on Earth pretending to get on with his demon jobs, where for the most part, humans seem to be doing a pretty good job of making themselves miserable. He does note he had a hand in the creation of the M25 ring road around London, resulting in making drivers miserable and angry.

Crowley’s only friend is Aziraphale, an angel he has rather a soft spot for and with whom he occasionally grabs tea, and s forces with to stop the end of the world. You know, regular friend stuff. The trailer for this second season hints that perhaps their relationship may go beyond friendship though.

Michael Sheen – Aziraphale

Michael Sheen as Aziraphale
Image via BBC Studios/Prime Video

Aziraphale, played by Sheen (Masters of Sex, engers) is a sweet-hearted angel who occasionally exhibits a more devious side. He will go down as the angel that gave Adam and Eve a flaming sword from heaven, akin to the story of Prometheus giving humanity fire, the fire they would use to create but also destroy. He too is not that fond of doing the job set to him by heaven and so, like Crowley, has resided on Earth for thousands of years living as an English gentleman who loves tea and books, running his own bookstore in London.

Aziraphale is so fond of humanity, and the many restaurants he gets to sample in the city, that he works with Crowley to avert the end of days. Now he must deal with the angel Gabriel, who has come to him with a very important mission, though he seems to have forgotten just what that mission was, which is very worrisome.

Jon Hamm – Gabriel

Hamm (Mad Men, Top Gun: Maverick) returns to play Archangel Gabriel, the leader of the angels reprising his role from the first season. Gabriel was very happy to let the world end in the first season, stating it was all part of a plan, but now he has lost much of his authority given that he has landed in Aziraphale’s bookshop with no memory of who he is or what he is doing.

He cryptically tells Aziraphale that he felt, “so long as I came here, something terrible might now happen to me.” You can see the absolute confusion that Gabriel throws them all into in the above sneak peek from the second series.

Doon Mackichan – Archangel Michael

Angel Michael, Good Omens
Image via Amazon Prime

Mackichan is returning to play the rather cold and calculating angel Michael. Not the biggest fan of Aziraphale, whom she considers a traitor, we wonder how she will react to the loss of Gabriel. Will she see a power vacuum that needs filling? Or will she put all her efforts into recovering their leader?

Gloria Obianyo – Archangel Uriel

Angel Uriel, Good Omens
Image via Amazon Prime

Obianyo is back as Uriel, a calm angel that does her best to follow the plan. Though she seems a little more composed than Michael, she can display aggression, especially towards Aziraphale.

Derek Jacobi – Metatron

Metatron, Good Omens
Image via Amazon Prime

Jacobi lends his face and voice to Metatron, the Emissary of God, though not God himself (or in this case herself given that God was portrayed as the narrator throughout the show by Francis McDormand). McDormand is not returning to play God in the second season, so perhaps we will see even more of Jacobi as he carries out God’s word.

Same faces, new roles

Maggie ServiceMaggie

Image via Amazon Studios

Service is back in a new role. Last season saw her play the satanic nun Sister Theresa Garrulous, one of the nuns responsible for the birth of the antichrist a.k.a. Adam. Now she is back in a brand new role as Maggie, a record store owner whose shop is right next to Azriraphale’s bookshop in Soho.

Nina SosanyaNina

Nina, Good Omens
Image via Amazon Prime

Sosanya also played one of the satanic nuns in season one, Sister Mary Loquacious, who later reinvented herself as Mary Lodges. Much like Service, Sosanya is playing a character with her own name, Nina, and, again like Service, runs a shop right by Azariphale’s store, though this time it is a coffee shop. Nina knows how to handle the crowds of Soho, though we wonder what role she, and Maggie, will have in the story.

Miranda RichardsonShax

Shax, Good Omens
Image via Amazon Studios

Richardson played Madame Tracy in the first season, the medium/”intimate caregiver” that lived opposite Sergeant Shadwell’s apartment. She is now back, but this time as an entirely new character, playing the demon Shax who has taken over Crowley’s job, seeing as Crowley has essentially turned his back on Hell and his duties. The actress appears to be playing a decent role in the season just as she did in the first season, with Shax looking like they could actually pose a danger compared to many of the other incompetant demons.

Newcomers

Quelin Sepulveda – Angel Muriel

Angel Muriel, Good Omens
Image via Amazon Studios

Sepulveda plays newcomer angel, Muriel, who is tasked with trying to find Gabriel but seems rather inept on Earth, struggling to fit in with human behavior. She also doesn’t appear to be very sharp and is easily deceived by both Aziraphale and Crowley. Muriel has spent the last 6000 years in an office job they are desperate to leave, which probably explains why she is so out of touch with humanity. It looks as if she will play a big role in the second season.

Shelley Conn – New Beelzebub

Beelzebub, Good Omens
Image via Amazon Studios

Fresh off of Bridgerton, Conn will play a very different character to that of Lady Sharma in Good Omens. She has taken over as the new Beelzebub from actress Anna Maxwell Martin, who had scheduling conflicts. In season two she will act as the new leader of Hell and we are excited to see what mischief she has in store for us, with Gaiman promising, “She’s every bit as awful as Anna Maxwell Martin was.”

Lizz Carr – Angel Saraqael

Lizz Carr, The Witcher
Image via Netflix

You may recognize Carr as one of the two detectives from The Witcher, and now she is back on our screens as the newest addition to heaven, angel Saraqael. It is unknown currently how involved in the story Saraqael will be.

Season two will see a range of returning and old characters. Mark Gatiss (Sherlock), Steve Pemberton (The League of Gentlemen), Reece Shearsmith (The League of Gentlemen), and Niamh Walsh (The Sandman) will return for this second season as well, meaning we have more time-hopping ahead of us. Other newcomers include Dame Siân Phillips (Dune), Tim Downie (Outlander), Peter Firman (The Magicians), Andi Osho (I May Destroy You), and Alex Norton (Pirates of the Caribbean).

Special mention should be made of Peter Davison (Doctor Who) and Ty Tennant (House of the Dragon), David Tennant’s father-in-law and (adopted) son respectively. The two are ing the cast as Alistair and Ennon, though nothing is yet known about what role these characters will have to play in the season.

The time is nearly upon us as Good Omens 2 will be available on Amazon Prime from July 28.

Who is Anna Osceola? Meet Jon Hamm’s new bride https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/who-is-anna-osceola-meet-jon-hamms-new-bride/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/who-is-anna-osceola-meet-jon-hamms-new-bride/#respond Thu, 29 Jun 2023 02:35:32 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1524283 Everything you need to know about who Don Draper himself settled down with!]]>

Well known Hollywood actor Jon Hamm finally tied the knot this weekend at a lush resort in Big Sur, California. The ceremony was well attended and included several familiar Hollywood faces including Tina Fey, Naomi Watts, Paul Rudd and of course Hamm’s friend and Mad Men costar John Slattery. However, one face that fans may not be as familiar with, is the bride herself. Anna Osceola, aside from obviously being Jon Hamm’s new wife, may seem vaguely familiar to Mad Men fans as she made a cameo in season 7. Yet aside from those claims to fame, who is Anna Osceola?

Hamm and Osceola met on the set of Mad Men, in the 2015 final episode of the series. Jon Hamm, naturally, plays Don Draper, the Manhattan marketing playboy. Yet as fans well know, by the end of the series his partying ways were no longer quite as endearing and the series ended with Draper’s attempt to find himself at a serene yoga and meditation retreat. The receptionist at the retreat, Clementine, was played by none other than Anna Osceola. The two met in 2015 but did not begin dating until 2020. After dating for two years the couple decided to tie the knot, in the very place that they met, the location in Big Sur, California, the site of Don Drapers retreat.

So aside from her appearance in Mad Men, what else is Anna Osceola’s claim to fame?

Anna Osceola and Jon Hamm in Confess, Fletch

Anna Osceola is a 35 year old actress who hails from Cambridge, Massachusetts but currently lives in California. Her acting career began in 2007 when she scored the role of Charlie in the made for TV movie Not Another High School Show. She has made appearances in several hit shows including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, NCIS, Saving Grace and Greek.

In 2022 she starred across from her new hubby in the movie Confess, Fletch. Aside from that Anna is remarkably low key, especially for Hollywood. She likes to keep her private life, well, private, and doesn’t have a social media presence. Despite making several glamorous red carpet appearances with Jon, she seems to leave the photos to the paparazzi.

Hamm too likes to keep his private life fairly off the grid and quiet. Prior to Anna, Jon was in a long term, 18 year relationship with girlfriend Jennifer Westfield, yet he avoided getting married, claiming he viewed it as a marker that someone was ready for kids. So now that he’s married, does that mean he’s ready for kids? Will we be seeing little Mad Men or women running around sometime soon? We can only hope.

Photo via Theo Wargo / Getty Images

If you were hoping for celebrity scandal, past career blunders or even juicy ex stories you are barking up the wrong tree, Anna’s past is remarkably drama free, as far as we can tell. The actress was born on April 8th, 1988 making her an Aries fire baby, and she is often spotted out and about walking her dog, and hitting the beaches. She is also 5’11 making her quite a bit taller than Hamm’s last lady love who stood at only 5’7.

We know this info may not be exactly riveting but hey; what can we say, Anna Osceola is as down to earth as the hippy Clementine character she played on Mad Men. She seems a perfect choice for Hamm who had struggles in his past with alcohol addiction and mental health, even spending some time in a rehab facility. So a calm, stable, drama free partner might be just the ticket for this former Mad Men star.

Anna Osceola may be relatively unknown prior to her big Hamm pair up but we are willing to bet we are about to see a lot more headlines with her name in them. Who knows, perhaps the next big announcement from the couple will be another addition to their new family.

Jon Hamm ties the knot in wedding that gave quite a few nods to ‘Mad Men’ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/jon-hamm-ties-the-knot-in-wedding-that-gave-quite-a-few-nods-to-mad-men/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/jon-hamm-ties-the-knot-in-wedding-that-gave-quite-a-few-nods-to-mad-men/#respond Sun, 25 Jun 2023 20:20:40 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1521296 We present to you the 'Mad' couple.]]>

They met on set, and now they were married in the most Mad Men way. Jon Hamm and Anna Osceola exchanged vows overlooking the water along the California coast in what is being praised as a very beautiful wedding that was done to a T.

Jon and Anna met in 2015 on the set of Mad Men when she played the part of Clementine in season 7, episode 14 – “Person to Person.” It was the final episode of the series and sadly, his relationship with actress and screenwriter Jennifer Westfeldt also came to an end that year. He never married Jennifer as he said in an archived interview published in the New York Post in 2008, “We may not have a piece of paper that says we’re husband and wife, but after 10 years, Jennifer is more than just a girlfriend. What we have is much deeper and we both know that. To me, people get married when they’re ready to have kids, which I’m not ruling out.”

Does that mean he’s ready to have kids with Anna? One step at a time – TMZ broke the story of their wedding on Saturday that was complete with stars, scenery, and quite the nod to the show that brought them together in the first place. The venue was Anderson Canyon in Big Sur, which is the location of the final scene of the series when Don Draper is in a meditation session rediscovering himself.

Screengrab via YouTube

Fellow Mad Men costar John Slattery attended the wedding along with quite a few other big names — including Tina Fey, Paul Rudd, and Billy Crudup — just to mention a few. Of course, there were cocktails being served, which makes perfect sense since there was rarely a scene in the show when Draper didn’t have a drink in his hand.

With Jon looking perfect in his tux and Anna stunning in her dress, the band played “You Only Live Twice” as she walked up the aisle, a throwback to the theme song for the Bond movie of the same name that was released in 1967.

A good bit of planning went into their wedding to make it go off as smoothly as it did and with such reverence to the show that could very well be given the credit for making their wedding day happen. Now, when will the pitter-patter of little feet fill the house? That’s what fans would like to know.

‘Batman’ fans can’t agree on who they want as the DCU’s Dark Knight, but they know they want an MCU star https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/movies/batman-fans-cant-agree-on-who-they-want-as-the-dcus-dark-knight-but-they-know-they-want-an-mcu-star/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/movies/batman-fans-cant-agree-on-who-they-want-as-the-dcus-dark-knight-but-they-know-they-want-an-mcu-star/#respond Tue, 21 Feb 2023 14:59:02 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1430729 There's a clear winner, but he may be too old for the role.]]>

With James Gunn’s DCU reboot underway, fans are eager to know who will be playing the latest incarnation of the world’s greatest detective. Some names have already been thrown into the mix, including more than a few Marvel actors who we’d like to see don the cape and cowl.

The topic of who should play Gunn’s Batman was brought up in the r/DCCinematic subreddit, where s shared their thoughts on the best picks for the role. One name that got a lot of was Marvel actor Lee Pace, who played the fearsome villain Ronan in the 2014 Marvel blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy.

The common consensus surrounding Pace was that he would give Kevin Conroy vibes. For any fans of Batman: The Animated Series, this would be music to their ears. Of course, the actor already has a great shot at the role due to him having already worked with James Gunn on Guardians. So not only is he a great choice, but a very realistic one too. Rumors have suggested that he could very likely have a role in in Gunn’s DCU.

Although not all fans were as excited at the prospect of Lee Pace taking on the role. The main complaint against him being that he would be too old for the role, being 43 right now. Although, as far as flaws go, that’s a relatively minor worry if everything else checks out.

Image via ABC

Another popular pick is Ben Barnes, known by most Marvel fans as the villain Jigsaw in Netflix’s The Punisher series. He also played Prince Caspian in The Chronicles of Narnia, if you thought you recognized him from elsewhere. It’s agreed that Barnes certainly has the look and he has shown that he can play a gritty and dark character, as well as a heroic one.

inDC_Cinematic

Although Barnes will have the same problem as Pace, as he is only 2 years younger than him. In simpler , he will be in his mid forties by the time the film finally gets made. Then again, he does have the benefit of looking young for his age, so he might be able to get away with it.

Image via Marvel

A few honorable mentions from the thread include Jon Hamm and Michael Fassbender, while some are still holding onto the hope that Ben Affleck will be kept on as the Dark Knight. Although there’s not much hope for seeing any of these actors take on the role, especially considering the fact that all of them are older than Lee and Ben. With that said, their chances aren’t great.

If Gunn is serious about having a younger Batman/Bruce Wayne in the DCU, he may not go with any of the fan predictions and instead opt for a more unknown actor. But who knows? That might be the best direction to go if you want a fresh start.

Pete Davidson eats Brie Larson and Jon Hamm in Hellman’s Super Bowl commercial https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/pete-davidson-eats-brie-larson-and-jon-hamm-in-hellmans-super-bowl-commercial/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/pete-davidson-eats-brie-larson-and-jon-hamm-in-hellmans-super-bowl-commercial/#respond Mon, 13 Feb 2023 01:36:38 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1422949 Oftentimes Super bowl commercials are corny as hell, and Hellman's went with a very obvious food-based name pun. ]]>

Super Bowl commercials very often get weird, and in this case maybe even a tad cannibalistic. Okay, nothing gross actually happens but we do see Pete Davidson make a sandwich using two rather well-known names, Brie Larson and Jon Hamm. The pun for both these actors has been there for the longest time, so it was about time someone made it official.

The clip that aired during the Super Bowl saw Hamm and Larson in a fridge, with a very large and centrally placed jar of Hellman’s mayonnaise between them (we wonder who this commercial is for?) contemplating why they were there. Larson responds, “well I’m Brie…” to which Hamm replies, “yeah, I’m John.” After both actors finally get on board with what is going on, they seem to very casually accept the fact that they are dinner.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_xfLBvk-AA&t=30s

After adding in the extremely obvious praise of the product, “with Hellmans, all these leftovers can be anything” spoken by Hamm, the fridge door then opens to reveal a giant Davidson staring in at them like something from Attack on Titans. The comedian tells them with just a little too much glee, “I’m gonna eat you guys.” Luckily that’s as close as we get to the cannibalistic undertones of the commercial as we cut to an actual brie and ham toastie being made with the condiment.

As he tucks into the toastie at the party (who stops to make a toastie at a party?) he tells the, now full-sized Larson and Hamm, “you guys are really delicious” to which Hamm responds, “That’s, that’s weird.” Yep, that is kind of the tone of the whole piece though now we have gotten it out of the way maybe the name/food jokes for these two actors will finally be over. It’s been done.
