Jon Stewart had a scathing commentary on Elon Musk's short-lived, tumultuous time in the Trump istration.]]>
<![CDATA[

Jon Stewart’s recent comments about Elon Musk leaving the Trump istration’s Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E.) have gotten a lot of attention. Stewart’s segment focused mostly on Musk’s appearance at his final press conference, giving a humorous but critical take on Musk’s time working for the Trump istration. 5ei4m

Musk’s short role as a “special government employee,” which lasted 128 days, ended because these appointments are limited to 130 days. Stewart’s observations mostly centered on how Musk looked and acted at the press conference. As found by Variety, Stewart pointed out Musk’s black eye and described his overall behavior as exhausted and confused.

Stewart compared this to how energetic and excited Musk had been during his early public appearances for the istration. He suggested that this big change in Musk’s appearance was because of his time working under Trump’s leadership. Stewart said, “This dude has seen some s***, I’d like to know at least how that happened.”

Stewart also talked about the relationship between Musk and Trump. He argued that Trump’s lack of real interest in policy and his focus on making himself look good and making money had a bad effect on Musk. Stewart’s point was that Trump mostly cared about getting attention, boosting his ego, and increasing his wealth. This, Stewart implied, made Musk feel used and unimportant.

The comedian also emphasized the difference between Musk’s original goals for improving efficiency and what actually happened. He described Musk’s change as going from a motivated tech leader to someone who seemed discouraged, implying that working under Trump was harmful to Musk’s mental state. Musk’s explanation for the black eye, which happened while playing with his son, was seen by Stewart as weak and just another sign of Musk’s overall condition.

Stewart continued, “Look, I believe things sometimes do happen when you’re roughhousing with your kid… But I’m also sure the one sentence no parent has ever uttered to their child is, ‘Go ahead, punch me in the face.’”

Stewart’s commentary also looked at Trump’s goodbye gift to Musk: a ceremonial golden key. Stewart’s sarcastic remarks pointed out how fake and overly flashy the gesture seemed. According to Stewart, giving the key was more about Trump making himself look good than actually honoring Musk. He suggested that the whole thing was just another example of Trump treating relationships like transactions.

Stewart said, “you couldn’t just give him the fucking key? You had to make sure everybody knows you give them to a lot of people. You know, I’ve got a bunch of these. I give them to special people like… Who’s the guy who brings me my Diet Cokes? I give him one for every Diet Coke. Anyway, enjoy your useless key.’”

Stewart’s segment didn’t hold back in criticizing Trump’s leadership style and how it affected people around him. While his comments were strong, they were delivered in his usual funny and satirical way, using humor to point out the problems in Musk’s experience and the political situation.

That's got to hurt!]]>
<![CDATA[

Even Jon Stewart seems tired of hearing about Elon Musk’s clever DOGE plans. On the episode of The Daily Show that aired Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, Stewart comes up with his own cost-cutting measures with his trademark ion and enthusiasm… with a different ending than his usual monologues.

With his “wannabe ant starter kit” ready (a coffee mug that says “World’s Most Dad,” a hat, and a calculator), Stewart asks where the government could decrease spending rather than firing countless employees and asks: “How about we just take $3 billion in subsidies we give to oil and gas companies that turn billions in profits? How long did that take? Oh, wait!” He then suggests ending the hedge fund carried interest loophole (that would save $1.3 billion annually) and not spending $2 trillion for a fighter jet. He says he figured out billions of dollars of savings in just a few seconds.

After Stewart mentions the ongoing frustration of corporations making money “at the expense of the taxpayer” and how Americans spend more for drugs than any Western country, he hits his coffee mug so hard that it smashes into pieces. He looks as surprised as viewers are and smiles before saying, “I will be going to the hospital soon.”

What got Stewart so worked up? While he’s of course critical of Donald Trump and Musk, he brings up a fair point about Joe Biden’s deal that would lower the price of 10 prescription drugs. As The Daily Show host points out, it’s not a good thing that “The companies we subsidize with billions of dollars” are granting Americans the chance to pay less for drugs. That would make anyone hit a coffee cup in frustration! (But hopefully not so hard that they need medical attention… or that they lose any precious caffeine.)

Several fans commented on the YouTube video of the episode and asked if Stewart was alright. One said they attended the live taping and remarked: “The mug bit was real and an incredible moment.” Stewart posted about it on X and joked about the “bloody good” show.

Thankfully, Stewart is fine. His monologue drives home just how sick and tired everyone, even late-night talk show hosts and political commentators (or maybe especially them), is of the revolving door of employees being laid off and MAGA going on and on about how terrible the government supposedly is. Even though, you know, they’re the government now. But it’s okay, because they’re going to keep firing people and they’re going to fix everything! Just like that.

This wasn’t the first time Stewart has criticized Musk in his The Daily Show opening monologue (and won’t be the final time, that’s for sure). In early October 2024, Musk said the Second Amendment is necessary to “ensure that we have the First Amendment.” Stewart replied, “Guns don’t protect our free speech.” It’s interesting to take a trip down memory lane and recall that, back in 2012, Musk appeared on The Daily Show to talk about creating SpaceX. It’s hard to imagine the two sitting down for a similarly pleasant conversation today… although maybe Stewart could get Musk to explain what five things he’s accomplished in his job in the past week.

What's the status of the beloved show?]]>
<![CDATA[

The Daily Show premiered in 1996, and for many fans, it’s the best way to process the latest political news and get some necessary comedic relief. But is the show’s long run at the finish line?

There’s a fine line between putting your head in the sand and keeping informed, and series that blend news and comedy are a great way to pay attention to the things that matter while maintaining some hope. Let’s find out if The Daily Show is still on the air or if viewers will have to say goodbye to it.

Did The Daily Show get canceled? 6p5f3d

People are wondering if The Daily Show has been canceled because there have been so many changes in of hosts. A fan posted on Reddit a few months back and wrote, “They haven’t had a consistent host in over a year and are just cycling through guest hosts and correspondents.” They added, “What happened? Why can’t they find a new (full time) host">Stewart also explained he “wanted to have some kind of place to unload thoughts as we get into this election season.”

Many people would likely agree that it would be great if there wasn’t even a need for The Daily Show. Everyone could be treated the way they deserve, and there could be no problems to analyze and satirize. But, thanks to the results of the 2024 election, fans are likely glad they have Stewart and the other hosts to turn to. And at least everyone’s Monday nights are a little brighter, too.

It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.]]>
<![CDATA[

For better or for worse, the Oscars are responsible for some of the biggest pop culture moments around the world (including the infamous slap from the 2022 Oscars). We’re more connected than we’ve ever been in our current internet age, but as most of us participate in our own nice online communities, monoculture moments like the Academy Awards are few and far between. While fewer viewers tune in to watch the ceremony in the streaming era, the memes and social commentary that stem from the awards show prove the Oscars are still relevant enough for us talk about with our friends in the weeks after the broadcast.

That being said, the Academy Awards would be far less interesting without hosts making memorable moments, both good and bad. Last year, Jimmy Kimmel returned to host the Oscars after hosting previously in both 2017 and 2018. Flash forward to now, and Kimmel has been rewarded with the hosting gig once again, giving him the perfect chance to rank amongst history’s best Oscar hosts. So in honor of the ceremony, let’s take a look at some of the best and worst hosts to ever grace the Academy Award’s stage.

Best: Hugh Jackman (2009) 9704

In 2009, Hugh Jackman was tapped to host the 81st Academy Awards, and the actor put on a show reminiscent of old Hollywood, complete with a nine-minute musical number where he masterfully sang about that year’s nominees, with a cameo from Anne Hathaway. “The Academy loves to range,” the Wolverine actor says during his opening speech, and he proved his own in spades. Unfortunately for us, Jackman has only hosted the one time, and the Academy has cut back on musical numbers, reportedly due to time constraints. He has expressed interest in returning to host again, but until he does, we can enjoy his past Oscars gig on YouTube for the time being.

Worst: Chevy Chase (1988) n2xl

In 1987, comedian Chevy Chase successfully co-hosted the Oscars alongside Goldie Hawn and Paul Hogan and was asked to return the following year. When he did, his condescending jokes and improv never connected with the crowd, resulting in an awkward program. For most people of a certain generation, Chase is best known for starring in Community (and for generally behaving like an entitled Boomer jackass), but in the late ‘80s, he was at the height of his career, with several high-budget comedies and Saturday Night Live behind him. Not even a snazzy opening number was enough to save Chase from flubbing his hosting gig, and after this Oscars, he never hosted an awards show again.

Best: Ellen DeGeneres (2007, 2014) 6d2f21

Ellen DeGeneres had hosted previously in 2007, but the 86th Academy Awards showed the then-Ellen host at her best. Her opening monologue did a good job balancing being funny without overstepping and offending the audience (unlike some other hosts you’ll see on this list), but it’s not just her effortless banter with the nominee’s that makes DeGeneres one of the best Oscars hosts of all-time. The moment she decided to take a selfie with some of the biggest stars of the night, she created one of the most talked-about Oscars moments, and simultaneously broke Twitter by becoming the site’s most-retweeted picture at the time — and she did all that while ordering pizza for the nominees.

Worst: Liza Minelli, Dudley Moore, Richard Pryor and Walter Matthau (1983) 6z6y68

Exactly 40 years ago, the 55th Academy Awards was hosted by Walter Matthau, Liza Minelli, Dudley Moore, and Richard Pryor. For some unknown reason, the four hosts performed a musical number, but evidently only Minelli appeared to have practiced beforehand. Pryor looks moments away from a panic attack and forgets some lines, Moore tries to carry his performance with charisma and the occasional ad-lib, while Matthau looks like he’d rather be anywhere but the Oscars stage. It feels like this was meant to be funny (and with a lineup like that, it could have been) but the obviously anxious and unprepared hosts make this one of the worst Oscars hosting line-ups.

Best: Jon Stewart (2008) 4d235t

Jon Stewart’s 2008 Oscars hosting gig was actually his second; his first time in 2006 wasn’t necessarily bad, but his delivery was off, and his time on the stage ended up able but underwhelming. Second time around, Stewart had the difficult task of opening the Oscars after the Hollywood writers’ strike, which ended only 11 days before the ceremony. Not an enviable task, but it was one he pulled off with aplomb; his confidence helped his jokes about a post-strike Hollywood’s emotional state land (He asks, “Does this town need a hug?” after listing “this year’s slate of Oscar-nominated psychopathic killer movies”) and he kept a playful tone throughout the night. Most notably, he brought back a then-19 year old Markéta Irglová so she could finish her acceptance speech, after she and co-writer Glen Hansard won Best Original Song with “Falling Slowly.”

Worst: Jack Lemmon, Rosalind Russell, Jimmy Stewart, Bob Hope, and Donald Duck (1958) 1g1w1p

The 30th Academy Awards had many hosts, and some of them were even great when left to their own devices. However, the Academy changed things up this year by introducing an animated host, with Disney’s own Donald Duck stepping in to help front the Oscars. Reportedly, the actors made of flesh and blood had a difficult time working alongside their animated coworker, and the show was awkward at best. Unfortunately for us, Donald Duck did such a poor job as a host that the Academy has scrubbed the internet of any clips of the seven-minute segment. As a result, we tragically can’t confirm how bad it was and without the official Oscars recap, we might not even know it even happened.

Best: Whoopi Goldberg (1994, 1996, 1999, 2002) 4s3d3t

In 1994, Whoopi Goldberg made history as both the first African American and woman to host the Academy Awards. She proved herself more than capable of providing comic relief while handling more sensitive moments, as she handed over the Best Picture Oscar for Schindler’s List. During the show’s opening ceremony, the host famously called herself an “equal opportunity offender” before launching into a rapid-fire list of all the causes she s. Many of the issues Goldberg brought up are still debated today, so it’s not hard to understand why she followed up the list by jokingly saying, “took care of everything, didn’t I? Including my career.” If anything, her first hosting gig helped her relationship with the Academy, and she was asked back for another three ceremonies.

Worst: Seth MacFarlane (2013) 203m3z

https://youtu.be/ugiCxCfqPi4

Seth MacFarlane’s Oscars gig feels like an extended SNL sketch, which shouldn’t be a bad thing, if this were actually an SNL skit. In the opening, William Shatner descends via a screen as Captain Kirk to warn MacFarlane he’s about to put on one hell of a bad show. Unfortunately, this attempt at a tongue-in-cheek joke falls flat when MacFarlane proceeds to put on a bad show. The promo could be interpreted as a poorly-delivered warning against sexism, as all of the celebrities featured are in on the joke, but then, MacFarlane just continues to be legitimately sexist by joking about women giving themselves the flu to look “good” for the ceremony, saying Zero Dark Thirty is about “a woman’s innate ability to never let anything go,” and making an awful joke about Chris Brown and Rihanna that I don’t even want to put in print. Hey, at least he proved he can sing!

Best: Bob Hope 174l4n

Bob Hope is an Oscars legend who hosted the ceremony a staggering 19 times between 1948 and 1978. For many, Hope’s steady voice and deadpan one-liners were what made the Academy Awards so memorable for many movie lovers during those golden years. His comedic timing was always on point, and his jokes were funny without being mean (though not without controversy; many of them have aged poorly as one might expect four decades after his last hosting gig). For many of the hosts on this list, Hope is the hosting blueprint, self-deprecating (“I hope your favorite wins tonight, although I know mine won’t.”) and able to poke fun at the Academy without stepping on too many toes. In 1966, he was presented with a special gold medal for his Oscars services throughout the years.

Worst: Anne Hathaway and James Franco (2011) 5s3a4k

Quite honestly, Anne Hathaway does not deserve to be on this list. She has done nothing wrong; in fact, her only crime during the 2011 Oscars was being too enthusiastic. James Franco and Hathaway make for an awkward pair in the best of circumstances, and with millions of eyes on them during the broadcast, this was not the best of circumstances. Franco is incredibly low-energy compared to the wide-eyed Hathaway — it’s like watching your grade’s chill class clown give a class presentation with the overachieving president of the drama club. Even Franco isn’t necessarily that bad, it’s the combination of the two together that makes this one of the most painful Oscars ceremonies to watch. From Hathaway’s over-compensating line delivery to Franco’s poorly-received drag skit later in the evening, this is undeniably some of the worst hosting we’ve seen at the Oscars.

How many funny men have taken on the coveted role as host?]]>
<![CDATA[

If you haven’t heard, Jon Stewart’s returning to The Daily Show!

That’s right, he’s picking up from where Trevor Noah left off, and that means more satire, and a lot more hilarious political sarcasm. Since its inception in 1996, The Daily Show show has combined humor with insightful commentary on the world at large. As such, taking on the role as host is a huge deal.

Over the years, the show has evolved, and so have its hosts. From Craig Kilborn to Trevor Noah, the show’s helm has seen a diverse array of talents, each contributing to the show’s success and longevity. In chronological order, let’s explore the journey of The Daily Show, through the lens of its hosts.

Craig Kilborn (1996-1998) 1j5uj

The first host of The Daily Show, Craig Kilborn, set the tone for the show’s early years. Kilborn was a renowned co-anchor from ESPN’s SportsCenter, known for his charisma and wit. Striving to add humor to traditional newscasts, Kilborn delivered a satirical monologue of the day’s headlines. He also brought a lighthearted approach to news, and the audiences loved it.

Despite the success of the show, there were talks of backstage friction between Kilborn and the show’s head writer, Lizz Winstead. It all came to a boil when Kilborn made a sexually explicit joke about Winstead in 1997. As a result, he was suspended from The Daily Show without pay for a week, and Winstead quit soon after. A year later, Kilborn moved on to CBS’s The Late Late Show, replacing Tom Snyder as the host. Kilborn’s tenure, though relatively short-lived in comparison to the later hosts, laid the foundation for The Daily Show’s future success.

Jon Stewart (1999-2015; 2024) 69623g

Enter comedian Jon Stewart, a transformative figure who elevated The Daily Show to great new heights. Before this, Stewart had served as the host for Short Attention Span Theater, You Wrote It, You Watch It, and The Jon Stewart Show. Taking over from Kilborn in 1999, Stewart redefined the show’s format, combining humor, wit, and snarky political commentary. He also served as a writer and executive producer.

Under Stewart’s guidance, The Daily Show introduced a more pointed political focus to its humor and became a trusted news source for audiences, young and old. While he was the host, the show won 23 Emmy Awards and three Peabody Awards, with ratings steadily increasing. In 2013, Stewart took a twelve-week hiatus to direct drama film Rosewater. During this period, show writer John Oliver stepped in as Stewart’s replacement at the anchor desk for two months, succeeded by one month of reruns. However, in February 2015, Stewart announced that he would be leaving The Daily Show later that year, and by early August, his final episode aired. The news saddened fans, but things have finally come back full circle. As aforementioned, Jon Stewart will return as the host of The Daily Show in 2024.

Trevor Noah (2015-2022) gk4l

In September 2015, Trevor Noah took over as host, succeeding Jon Stewart, and ushering in a new era for The Daily Show. Born in South Africa, Noah brought a unique global perspective to the show, addressing not only American politics but also international affairs. Noah also incorporated humor into the show, with a focus on millennial references, impersonations, and characterizations, catering to his younger, more vibrant audience. Furthermore, his comedic versatility greatly contributed to the diversity of his comedic style.

Although the ratings of The Daily Show declined at the start of Trevor Noah’s tenure, it gradually increased as time went on. Overall, his charismatic and insightful approach has resonated with audiences, making the show a relevant force in the ever-changing media landscape. In September 2022, however, he announced that he would be leaving the show to focus on his career as a standup comedian. Noah’s last episode was aired in December, and the following year, the show introduced a feature of weekly celebrity guest hosts, including: Leslie Jones, Hasan Minhaj, and Marlon Wayans.

Conclusion 1k2xl

The success of The Daily Show has paved the way for similar satirical news programs. Furthermore, it has established itself as an influential force in the realm of political and social commentary. As the show continues to entertain and inform, its legacy remains firmly rooted in the talented individuals who have helmed the anchor’s desk over the years.

Jon Stewart is running low on patience.]]>
<![CDATA[

Jon Stewart is once again flexing his debate skills, as a fresh clip of the articulate multi-talented host once again catches the attention of the internet.

This time its a clip from Stewart’s interview of Oklahoma State Senator Nathan Dahm, which first aired in early March. Clips from the interview, which once again showcase Stewart’s masterful use of actual facts and data, have been littering sites like TikTok and Twitter for weeks now, but a key moment from the March discussion is catching fresh attention online. The minute-long clip, re-shared by Twitter @Cromwell606, delivers a spectacular argument for gun control, but one that’s unlikely to change any minds.

The clip, simply captioned by Cromwell606 with “Jon Stewart gets it right again,” sees Stewart and Dahm clash over the topic of drag shows. Dahm, who s efforts to ban Drag show readings for children, stressed that the ban is in the interest of protecting minors, a fact that Stewart quickly clapped back against.

https://twitter.com/Cromwell606/status/1657023796350533632

Following Dahm’s assertion that “the government has a responsibility to protect children,” Stewart asked a simple, straightforward question: “What is the leading cause of death amongst children in this country.”

Dahm, after making a quick attempt to dodge the obvious answer, finally contended that the leading cause of death among American children is, yes, guns. Firearms take more young lives than cancer or car accidents, and Stewart was not about to let Dahm claim his party is interested in “protecting children” when they refuse to make progress on the issue of gun control.

“What you’re telling me is: You don’t mind infringing free speech to protect children from this amorphous thing that you think of, but when it comes to children that have died, you don’t give a flying f*ck to stop that, because that shall not be infringed,” Stewart says in the clip. “That is hypocrisy at its highest order.”

The well-spoken takedown of Dahm’s argument is taking Twitter s by storm, as they gush over Stewart’s quick wit and call for him to chair presidential debates — and, perhaps, Town Halls. There were, inevitably, plenty of people who pushed back on Stewart’s harsh lesson in political priorities, but their voices were soundly drowned out by the comedian, host, and all-around powerhouse’s many ers.

These people echoed the same sentiment we at We Got This Covered can’t help but share — that America would be a much better place with more Jon Stewarts, and far fewer Donald Trumps.

Jon Stewart is also a member of the Writers Guild.]]>
<![CDATA[

Former Daily Show host and political commentator, Jon Stewart has announced that he won’t be promoting his Apple TV Plus series due to the ongoing Writers Strike being held by The Writers Guild of America.

Deadline reported that Stewart was scheduled to appear at an FYC event for the second season of his series, The Problem with Jon Stewart, but had to pull out due to the ongoing strike. The reason for this is because Stewart is part of the Writers Guild and according to the WGA’s rules, aren’t allowed to promote their projects until the strike concludes.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the FYC event may be impacted due to the writers’ strike. It’s currently unknown how these impacts will be handled, whether they would still go on, be rescheduled, or be canceled without any penalty fees imposed on the networks affected.

It was also reported that Stewart was also set to appear at the Think Apple TV Plus space at Hollywood’s Goya Studios to talk about the show’s second season. Deadline reported that Apple didn’t comment on the current situation but sources close to the show confirmed the cancellation.

Stewart played a role in the previous writers’ strike back in 2007, where he showed for The Daily Show‘s writing team to the guild. Throughout the 100-day strike, Stewart referred to his show as “A Daily Show” until the strike ended in February 2008. Other talk shows did the same thing, where they renamed their shows in of the writers.

However, the former talk show host was criticized by Family Guy‘s Seth MacFarlane when an episode aired that mocked Stewart’s decision to go on air as the strike was happening.

This year, the Writers Guild of America is on strike once more after negotiations between writers, streamers and TV networks failed to reach an agreement for better compensation. Writers were seen on the streets in front of various network headquarters in New York and Los Angeles. Meanwhile, it was reported that some talk shows will go dark due to this event. It’s currently unknown how long the strike will go on.

Tucker Carlson’s recent exit from FOX News has social media s reminiscing over another time when the now-former host of Tucker Carlson Tonight was roasted on Jon Stewart, adding to perhaps an already growing list of least memorable moments of his on-air career.

Amid the not-so-stunning departure of conservative America’s favorite journalist, one of Stewart’s most iconic guest appearances is once again making the rounds on social media. The moment in question? An Oct. 15, 2004 airing of the since-canceled debate series, Crossfire featuring the former Daily Show host who was there to promote his book America (The Book): A Citizen’s Guide to Democracy Inaction.

However, the real magic took place as Stewart dodged questions about his own show posed by hosts Carlson and former political aide Paul Begala. Instead, the comedian swissed-cheesed Carlson over how things were being discussed on the show, even poking fun at his attire.

Stewart argued that while Carlson and Begala may have believed they had what appeared to be a substantial format for a debate series, it failed “miserably” to hit the mark and was more so a screaming match of talking points from either side and never reached mutual consensus on pressing issues.

“This is theater. It’s obvious,” Stewart said to Carlson. “You’re doing theater when you should be doing debate, which would be great.” Carlson tried to argue that The Daily Show was no different, but the comedian fired back, “You’re on CNN. The show that leads into me is puppets making crank phone calls. What is wrong with you?”

Online, ers are celebrating Tucker’s exit and are resharing the clip of what some have called it a “Hall of Fame” moment with Stewart and, honestly, talk show history.

As viewers may , Crossfire was canceled shortly after — however — the moment lives on forever as it would also spark a drawn-out feud between Stewart and Carlson and mark the last time the latter wore a bowtie on national television.

<![CDATA[

The news of Donald Trump‘s indictment is only going to divide America even more so than it already is, as many will cheer that the former president will finally face at least some consequences for his actions, whereas others will see the whole thing as a political witch-hunt. Fox News is of course only fueling the fire as it decides to play on team Trump, and political commentator Jon Stewart is not having it.

Fox News and Trump have had a fairly complex relationship, with the right-wing news channel originally holding him up as the savior of America during his first electoral campaign, and during much of his presidency. However, things cooled off a little in recent months, with Trump’s name barely mentioned on its channels. This could have been down to the current legal battle the network finds itself embroiled in over the $1.6 billion defamation case brought to it by Dominion, the voting equipment company.

However, Fox hosts were quick to get back on the horse when the news dropped that Trump had been indicted, and what was initially a shock turned quickly into a lambasting of the decision and all those behind it. Despite having known for weeks that this was underway, presenters were stunned it had actually happened, but once the news settled in, they defaulted straight back to defending him.

When it was Tucker Carlson’s turn to comment on the events, the notorious right-wing host went straight to conflating this supposed “attack” on Trump as an attack on the American people. This was made even more evident in Laura Ingham’s segment featuring a banner that read “Hunting Trump, destroying America” according to The Guardian. Some even speculated that a mug shot would lend a certain level of bad-boy charm to Trump in the presidential race, for which he is the front-runner for the Republican party so far.

With such rhetoric being used by Fox News, it isn’t a far stretch to see how it may rile up Trump ers, leading Stewart to post this on Twitter.

Fox News trades in sensationalism, often taking overly-charged topics and debates and running at them all pistons firing. This kind of reporting is known for raising the temperature in a political landscape that is already boiling over. During Carlson’s segment, it was sports commentator Jason Whitlock that finally gave the host the sound bite he had been waiting for, as he claimed “They are agitating for unrest … I’m ready for whatever’s next. And I hope that every other man watching this is ready for whatever’s next.”

It’s as if an insurrection wasn’t enough for them, a civil war would pull in fantastic viewing figures though, right?

Republican Nathan Dahm brought a knife to a verbal gunfight with Jon Stewart now wants Joe Rogan to host rematch 5hk11 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/news/republican-nathan-dahm-brought-a-knife-to-a-verbal-gunfight-with-jon-stewart-now-wants-joe-rogan-to-host-rematch/ <![CDATA[Matt Tuck]]> Sat, 04 Mar 2023 16:00:28 +0000 <![CDATA[Celebrities]]> <![CDATA[News]]> <![CDATA[TV]]> <![CDATA[Joe Rogan]]> <![CDATA[Jon Stewart]]> <![CDATA[Nathan Dahm]]> <![CDATA[The Joe Rogan Experience]]> <![CDATA[The Problem with Jon Stewart]]> https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1440571 <![CDATA[

Nathan Dahm is reeling from his verbal is on damage control after being eviscerated on The Problem with Jon Stewart. Now, the Oklahoma state senator is calling for a rematch on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

Dahm is a staunch anti-gun control advocate who has pressed for legislation to virtually eliminate any and all checks and registration involving gun ownership. Jon Stewart, the former host of The Daily Show and vocal gun control er, proceeded to take him to task on what he called “hypocrisy at its highest order.”

Stewart pulled no punches nor did he mince words while dragging Dahm over the hot coals. Like many of his conservative political cohorts, Dahm also is a firm believer in voter registration. The irony of advocating for voter registration while railing against ing firearms did escape Stewart. “You say voting rights can be infringed because it doesn’t say specifically ‘shall not be infringed.’”

While the argument centered on gun ownership and registration, Stewart made an excellent point regarding free speech. A hot button issue lately has been the “Drag Queen Story Hour” with self-proclaimed drag queens reading to children at public libraries. Dahm s legislation restricting these book readings to only adults, something Republican lawmakers say protects children. Stewart wasn’t so sure. “What’s the leading cause of death amongst children in this country?” Stewart asked. “And I’m going to give you a hint: It’s not drag-show readings to children.” He later added a blistering condemnation.

“And what you’re telling me is, you don’t mind infringing free speech to protect children from this amorphous thing that you think of, but when it comes to children that have died, you don’t give a flying f**k to stop that because that shall not be infringed. That is hypocrisy at its highest order.”

At one point, the senator remarked that fentanyl and obesity are more problematic than firearms. Likening it to Dahm’s argument that more guns make people safer, Stewart retorted, ““Right, and you’re the guy saying, ‘You know what would help [obesity in America]? Ice cream.’”

The eight-minute clip from the episode, “Chaos, Law, and Order,” has gone viral. As the clip has amassed a half-million views and counting on YouTube, Dahm took to Twitter to defend himself, claiming the interview footage was heavily edited to cast him in a negative light.

While Dahm did have a share of ers, most of the responders were having none of his backpedaling.

While the world waits for Stewart and Rogan to respond, you can watch the full interview on Apple TV Plus.

Jon Stewart isn’t biting his tongue regarding the controversial headlines about Fox News and some of their staff following the release of court documents from Dominion Voting Systems’ billion-dollar lawsuit.

As previously reported, Fox and their networks, including Fox News and Fox Business, are being sued for defamation for $1.6 billion by Dominion Voting System. In the lawsuit filed almost two years ago, Dominion Voting System accused the network of attempting to improve their ratings by falsely claiming that the voting company’s machines rigged the presidential election in November 2020, which was against Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

On Feb. 16, according to CNBC, the recent court documents were equipped with months of evidence, including text messages and deposition testimonies. It was ultimately released after the findings were presented to a judge in Delaware. The legal documents showcased that despite the way Fox News network, its hosts and executives presented themselves publicly regarding the voter fraud allegations, behind the scenes was a completely different story.

The evidence showed that when allegations of voter fraud began circulating online because of former president Donald Trump and his associates’ numerous rants, Fox News hosts including Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, and Laura Ingraham didn’t initially believe it.

Carlson was reported texting to his producer weeks following the election that Trump’s attorney Sidney Powell was “lying.” At the same time, Ingraham sent a message to Carlson bashing both Powell and Trump’s former attorney Rudy Giuliani, “Sidney is a complete nut. No one will work with her. Ditto with Rudy.”

As the news began making its way on social media, Stewart took it upon himself to sarcastically express on Twitter how “shocked” he was by the revelations.

The comedian shared a gif while writing the caption, “Fox News?? The explicit propaganda arm of a political party?? I don’t…I imagine the congressional hearings will commence forthwith!!! Because it’s so shocking. #FoxFiles.”

At this time, the defamation case between Dominion Voting System and Fox is still ongoing and no additional details have been released at this time.

Jon Stewart lampoons AP Stylebook’s recommendation for referring to French people 373o56 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/news/jon-stewart-lampoons-ap-stylebooks-recommendation-for-referring-to-french-people/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/news/jon-stewart-lampoons-ap-stylebooks-recommendation-for-referring-to-french-people/#respond <![CDATA[Jon Silman]]> Fri, 27 Jan 2023 00:46:23 +0000 <![CDATA[Celebrities]]> <![CDATA[News]]> <![CDATA[Jon Stewart]]> https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1408308 <![CDATA[
He loves to hate (the) French.]]>
<![CDATA[

For the average person, an update to the AP Stylebook is like climate change; most people just ignore it. What people might not know is that the stylebook basically dictates how certain words will appear in print and online. It recently updated a way to refer to French people, for some reason, and Jon Stewart was all over it.

Some context: Most news articles, though not all, follow what’s called “AP Style” — the A.P. stands for Associated Press — and its specific rules for grammar, spelling, language usage, and how to refer to certain things. For example, AP Style dictates that numbers one through nine are spelled out, and 10 and above are rendered numerically, except in cases when numerals begin a sentence, or the otherwise-spelled-out numbers are denoting dates and times.

Here’s another idiosyncrasy of the AP Stylebook – com directions are in lower case, but regions of the U.S. (periods between letters is also AP Style), are capitalized. An example: The wind is blowing cold in the Northeast, but the breeze from the south is colder.

Also, these rules tend to change from time to time, seemingly arbitrarily. The official AP Stylebook Twitter sometimes tweets out these updates, which happened earlier today. It said:

“We recommend avoiding general and often dehumanizing ‘the’ labels such as the poor, the mentally ill, the French, the disabled, the college-educated. Instead, use wording such as people with mental illnesses. And use these descriptions only when clearly relevant.”

Whether or not French people (see, now I’m doing it) should be included in the same list as mentally ill and disabled people is not the debate, but it is kind of funny regardless. Former Daily Show host Jon Stewart couldn’t help but chime in.

Pretty good joke. It should also be noted that America and have always had a pretty contentious relationship. Americans like to say the French surrendered at WW2 and had to be bailed out. French hate Americans simply because they’re Americans.

This wasn’t the case in the 1700s, of course, when the French helped fund the American Revolution. Also, they gave America the Statue of Liberty. Obviously, it’s not that simple but it’s important to note those geopolitical facts as well.

During his tenure on The Daily Show, Stewart took a particular delight in mocking the French, so this isn’t coming out of nowhere. Stewart could use all the help he can get right now as his new show on Apple TV Plus, The Problem with Jon Stewart, has been struggling to find an audience. is probably not watching.

The Problem with Jon Stewart is currently streaming on Apple TV Plus.
