Over the weekend, news of a Shelter: Mini Album from Porter Robinson and Madeon swept the dance music community. A listing for the release was discovered on CD Japan, and naturally sent fans into a frenzy as word got out. After being asked about the album on Twitter, Robinson took the opportunity to clarify a few things.

In a series of Tweets, the producer states that the Shelter: Mini Album is being released as a Japanese exclusive to meet the demands of that market, before revealing that stateside fans were never intended to become aware of the product.

Given this information, it makes sense that neither artist announced the mini album until it was discovered. Despite Porter Robinson‘s latest revelations, it’s safe to say that a number of fans outside of Japan will still want to grab their own copy, if only for the included Blu-ray of the “Shelter” anime and the included bonus flag.

Porter Robinson and Madeon are set to drop one final release together to bring their collaborative work to an end. After stunning fans with their single “Shelter,” which was named our top EDM song of the year, the duo embarked on a tour of the same name that has been universally praised by fans and critics alike.

Dubbed the Shelter: Mini Album, the work will feature “Shelter,” a number of remixes, and a selection of singles from each artist. Additionally, the package will include a Blu-ray of the “Shelter” anime, as well as a flag.

Porter Robinson and Madeon revealed back in November that their collaborative work together was only a temporary pair up, and we now know that the duo’s performance at the edition of Coachella will serve as the conclusion of the Shelter era.

Porter Robinson and Madeon‘s collaborative effort on “Shelter” and the ensuing tour of the same name have served as some of the most notable happenings in dance music throughout the year. “Shelter” went on to be named our top EDM song of 2016, and while the duo’s stint through North America may have come to an end, fans are still obsessing over the historic string of performances.

Case in point, two Reddit s have recreated a mashup that was heard frequently throughout the Shelter tour. Combining elements of Porter Robinson and Mat Zo’s “Easy” with Madeon’s “Pay No Mind,” the live edit served as a fan favorite and the new recreation is the perfect way to relive it.

The mashup begins with some swanky guitar licks from “Pay No Mind” set against upbeat rhythms and funky synth work. Moving into the second half of the edit, the serene synth flourishes from “Easy” take over, before the tune comes to a close with a sublime electric piano motif.

The “Easy/Pay No Mind” mashup is a perfect marriage of the two songs, and fans who missed out on Porter Robinson and Madeon’s Shleter tour will no doubt be pleased to hear a high quality recreation of it.

The “Shelter” animation features some breathtaking production values and an emotive storyline, serving as the perfect visual tie-in to the song. It’s great to finally see a worthy anime set to one of Porter Robinson‘s songs as well, whose work has frequently touched upon the medium as a source of inspiration.

The dance music community is still buzzing from the surprise release of Porter Robinson and Madeon’s huge collaboration and subsequent tour announcement, and now, A-Trak is back with a new remix to keep “Shelter” at the forefront of our attention.

A-Trak posted a video to Instagram in which he constructs a live edit of “Shelter” with quick flicks of the mixer fader and an on the fly barrage of triggered samples from the song. His renowned DJ’ing skills are on full display here, as he performs vinyl scratches and filter sweeps in real time, and the resulting performance is mesmerizing to watch. All performance elements aside, the remix is a worthy listen on its own merits.

Unfortunately, the performance video cuts out suddenly and will definitely leave you wanting more. As it appears to be just a live edit done for fun, it’s not clear if A-Trak‘s remix is intended for an official release or not, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed.
