Warning: This article contains full spoilers for X-Men ’97 season 1, episode 5. 6g125

After reaching the end of X-Men ’97‘s fifth episode, the first thing you probably did — well, apart from mopping up your tears and unfolding from your fetal position in the corner — was wonder if you’d just watched the show’s season finale.

So shocking and dramatic is episode 5, titled “ It,” that it feels like a season-ending storyline, but we’ve still got another five episodes to go. And yet it’s hard to imagine where the season could go next after the team suffered such devastating losses right on the eve of landing an uplifting victory for mutants all around the world. We knew the good times wouldn’t last long for the X-Men, but we didn’t think things would go south this quickly… or this tragically.

What happens to Magneto and Gambit in X-Men ’97 episode 5? 582p66

In “ It,” the X-Men attend a gala hosted on the mutant island of Genosha to celebrate the nation becoming officially recognized by the U.N. for the first time. Magneto is shocked, however, when the Genosha council (comprising familiar characters as such as Emma Frost, Madelyn Pryor, and Sebastian Shaw) announce they want him to rule over Genosha. Still, he’s not as shocked as Rogue is when he asks her to rule alongside him as his queen.

Wrestling with the weight of the decision, Rogue finally comes clean to Gambit about her past romance with Erik Lensherr — they once had a ionate affair in her youth, once they discovered his electro-magnetic powers negated her energy-sapping touch. Although she loves Remy, Rogue its she still desires to be touched, although he stresses that they have something that is “more than skin-deep.”

At the gala, Rogue appears to make her choice when she dances through the air with Magneto and kisses him, much to everyone’s shock — and Gambit’s heartbreak. Unbeknownst to Remy, though, the kiss convinces Rogue that she needs something that’s more than skin-deep. In other words, she chooses Gambit.

That’s when pandemonium breaks loose as a giant Wild Sentinel (which Gambit dubs a “Godzilla Sentinel”) attacks Genosha, and the partying mutants are helpless to defend themselves against it. Suddenly, the gala turns into a massacre as countless citizens of Genosha are murdered — including much of the ruling council, like Shaw and Banshee. Magneto, committed to rescuing as many mutants as possible, puts himself between the Wild Sentinel and some Morlock children — including Tommy (the rainbow-haired girl) and Leech (the reptilian boy).

Magneto then becomes the Wild Sentinel’s primary target as the robot detects that he is an “Omega-level threat” that must be neutralized. Rogue desperately tries to intervene, but Erik locks her and Gambit in a makeshift metal cage to protect them. Although he fights hard, the Sentinel’s energy blast is ultimately too much to overcome and Erik appears to be disintegrated.

Once freed, a furious Rogue attempts to single-handedly take on the Sentinel, but Gambit incapacitates her with one of his psionic blasts to save her life. Taking the killer robot on himself, Remy shockingly falls foul of the Sentinel himself when it stabs him in the side. He’s able to give as good as he gets, though, when he charges up the impaling weapon with his powers, which reverberates through the Sentinel and blows it up.

The episode ends with Rogue cradling the apparently dead Gambit in her arms, surrounded by the devastated ruins of Genosha. “I can’t feel you,” she tells him, both echoing their earlier conversation and another heartbreaking moment from a different Marvel Disney Plus series, WandaVision.

So, are Magneto and Gambit really dead? Well, we don’t see a body in Erik’s case, so that one seems the easiest to undo. The framing, aftermath, and dialogue surrounding Gambit’s self-sacrifice seem much more final, though, which suggests that if he is coming back then his resurrection could be a much bigger storyline. For now, though, it seems like Rogue has gone from having two lovers to none. Sucks to be you, sugah.

The following article contains spoilers for X-Men ’97.

X-Men ‘97 has brought beloved characters back from the animated series purgatory and to the forefront of Disney Plus. Once again, we can revel in the familiar mutants and their wide variety of powers.

The new series wastes no time in plunging viewers back into the lore. Following Professor Xavier’s death, the X-Men are thrown for a loop when sometimes villain Magneto inherits the X-Mansion. But there is no time to waste considering what Xavier was thinking when he made this decision. There are Sentinels to fight, romances to be had, and the ever-present threat of humanity’s prejudice against our mutant heroes. As we dive back into the fleshed-out world of X-Men, we should the that apply to our genetically blessed friends.

What is an Omega mutant in X-Men? 1r3ab

Mutants in X-Men can fall into different levels of classification. Because there are so many different mutants, it helps to know how powerful they are. For instance, Alpha-level mutants are generally at the top of the pile. Characters such as Cyclops, Legion, and Professor X are all considered Alpha class because of their formidable powers. Xavier is one of the world’s most powerful telepaths, while the concussive force of Cyclops’ vision makes him a force to be reckoned with. However, there is one class above it: The Omega class.

Omega refers to not just being powerful but having abilities that potentially have no limits. The primary example of this is Magneto. Erik Lehnsherr’s power over magnetism already has many applications. But from years of practice and Magneto’s inherent powerfulness, he is a mutant that can never be beat. As much as he targets humans in his crusade to help mutants, he still shows some restraint. If he didn’t, then there would be no humankind left to speak of.

Other Omega-level mutants of note are Iceman, Storm, and Hope Summers. Viewers get a hint of this in the first episode of X-Men ‘97. During the climactic fight against the Sentinels, they identify Storm as Omega class. The mutant quickly makes it clear why this is the case. A goddess to many, Storm’s powers turn the sand beneath her feet into glass and create a lightning storm that tears the Sentinels apart. Hate groups like Friends of Humanity find this so threatening that they devise weapons to rid mutants of their powers. Storm losing her powers in episode 2 is particularly gut-wrenching because of what a powerhouse she is. The good news is the X-Men are never down for long, and until then, humanity has Magneto to contend with.

There's got to be a significant age gap between her and Magneto.]]>
<![CDATA[

After two decades of portraying the X-Men under the Fox umbrella, Marvel fans can now see the Marvel Studios spin on the classic team in X-Men ‘97 on Disney Plus.

The animated series is a direct follow-up to X-Men: The Animated Series from the ‘90s and picks up in the titular year. In honor of the previous series, the able voice actors have reprised their roles. Cal Dodd returns to voice Wolverine, while Lenore Zann returns as Rogue. A significant amount of time has ed for these actors in between seasons of X-Men, while their characters’ ages remain the same.

How old is X-Men’s Rogue? 6t2c3r

Rogue’s voice may have matured slightly in the intervening years, but her age remains consistent. Canonically in the comics, Rogue is portrayed as being in her early to mid 20ss. As the current animated series takes place in the ‘90s, her age has not changed. She is comparable in age to her sometimes boyfriend, Gambit.

However, for non-comic fans watching X-Men ‘97, this fact may be slightly confusing due to Rogue’s other romantic entanglement. At the end of episode 2, viewers get a hint of romantic rumblings between her and Xavier’s best friend, Magneto. Though not explicitly explained in the animated show, it appears that Magneto’s magnetism allows him to nullify her powers. As someone who can never experience skin-to-skin for fear of sucking the life out of them, this can be an attractive prospect for Rogue — no matter what the age difference is between her and Magneto.

And there is a substantial one. Magneto was an early teen during World War II, which puts him in his mid-60s when the series is set. However, this seems to be of little concern, considering he is the only person that Rogue has been able to touch without hurting him. Close goes a long way in the series and comics lore.

Rogue and Magneto have a complicated history in the comics, where they have often been paired romantically together. The first major instance was in the 1991 X-Men comic “Uncanny X-Men #274.” Written by the iconic duo, Chris Claremont and Jim Lee, Rogue and Magneto team up in the Savage Land, where they flirt with the idea of a relationship. Because her powers were inconsistent at that time, they could touch and form a connection.

The other famous instance of their relationship was in an alternate timeline where Rogue absorbs Magneto’s daughter, Polaris’ powers of magnetism, which allows them to touch. They marry and have a child together in this reality. X-Men ‘97 seems to be doing a mash-up of these storylines, equally as unbothered by the age differences as its predecessors were.

Warning: This articles gets into X-Men ’97 episode 1-2 spoilers.

X-Men ’97 is one of the most exciting Marvel projects to be released in recent times. The sequel series takes place after the events of the iconic X-Men: The Animated Series which aired from 1992 to 1997 and remains a beloved classic. X-Men ’97 features a lot of the original cast from The Animated Series and picks up the plot from its shocking end when Professor Charles Xavier was fatally wounded.

The first two episodes were released on March 20 to positive reviews and have already begun to set the stage for a season full of twists. One of the most shocking revelations that came in episode 2, “Mutant Liberation Begins,” was the insinuation that Rogue and Magneto had a relationship in the past. So, what was that all about, and what is the relationship between Rogue and Magneto? Here’s everything you need to know.

Magneto and Rogue’s relationship in X-Men ‘97 2q4p4r

Magneto and Rogue have a long and complicated history in the comic books that wasn’t touched on in X-Men: The Animated Series. It seems that this history is going to be brought to the forefront in X-Men ’97 as episode 2 had two big revelations tied to this history. The first was that Rogue’s powers don’t affect Magneto and the second was that she and Magneto had some sort of secret relationship, though they didn’t speak on its nature or when it happened.

Magneto was made the head of the X-Men at the end of episode 1 when it was revealed that Professor X left everything to him. This caused discord within the group since they found it difficult to trust Magneto after his villainous actions in the original show. However, episode 2 showed a few tender moments between him and Rogue. The first was in his office where she came to speak to him after he officially took his place as the new leader of the X-Men. He reflected on his relationship with Xavier and how the X-Men are right to not trust him but Rogue was quick to reassure him. When he brought up their shared past, she sharply countered that what happened between them was, “a long time ago, and that cat’s got to stay in its bag.”

The final scenes showed them holding hands in his office with only a small spark lighting between their palms to indicate that her powers were active but ineffective. As a result, this opens the door for a few different options for exploring the past relationship between these two characters.

Magneto and Rogue’s comic book history 3b1l61

While Rogue is best known for being paired up with Gambit, there are a few storylines that have matched her up with Erik Lehnsherr, aka Magneto. One of the most popular plotlines including these two was the Savage Land arc from 1991’s Uncanny X-Men #274. This story saw Rogue ing Magneto in the Savage Land after she loses her powers, allowing her to touch him without draining him. When he saves her life, the two start a tentative relationship that is soon dissolved when Magneto kills Zaladane, reminding Rogue that he is a villain indeed.

Another popular but infamous romantic storyline between the two took place in the Age of Apocalypse event. This was an alternate reality where Charles Xavier died as a child and therefore, Magneto formed the X-Men. The team, which included Rogue, Magneto, and Gambit faced off against Apocalypse and Wolverine who was evil in this timeline. Rogue saved Magneto’s life, ending her relationship with Gambit and officially partnering with Magneto. Their relationship in the Age of Apocalypse even led to the birth of a child whom they named after Charles Xavier. In this plot, Rogue could touch Magneto because she had absorbed the magnetic powers of Polaris, allowing her and Magneto’s powers to cancel each other out.

Again, in X-Men: Legacy, Rogue, and Magneto received another romantic storyline, the first to exist in the canon 616 timeline. These comics follow the Avengers vs. X-Men event and sees Magneto trying to make amends for his past mistakes. In X-Men: Legacy #249 Magneto takes Rogue to the Holocaust Museum to share more about his past and tries to convince her to stay with Gambit but she ultimately chooses Magneto and they consummate their relationship with the issue ending in them kissing. This eventually falls apart by issue #274 when Rogue once again realizes that she and Magneto can never be together when his priorities will always be the creation of a mutant supremacist world.

Conclusion 4i75x

So, while Rogue and Magneto have had many romantic plots in the comics, they usually end badly. The romance between Rogue and Gambit was a big part of the original X-Men animated show, and episode 2 of X-Men ’97 saw Gambit watching with a broken heart as Rogue left Magneto’s office. Future episodes will hopefully reveal the extent of Rogue and Magneto’s history and how it will affect their relationships in the present.

Will the Maximoff twins maintain their connection to a longstanding X-Men villain?]]>
<![CDATA[

The MCU continues to expand with each fresh release, and things are starting to get complicated.

Several characters introduced through a variety of established MCU hits have connections to as-yet unintroduced Marvel staples, and the familial ties between a set of titular, iconic characters has been an outstanding issue for awhile. The X-Men are supposedly set to make their MCU debut eventually — hopefully soon — but mutants are already an established part of the sprawling cinematic franchise. The existence of Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, the twin children of Magneto in Marvel comics, has been raising eyebrows for years, as fans wonder how the franchise will explain away their connection to the popular mutant.

Due to Magneto’s complete lack of a presence in the MCU — so far, at least — Wanda and Pietro’s parentage has largely been ignored. This is likely in hopes of leaving their background open to alteration, which would allow for a canon explanation to eventually find its way into the story, once Magneto has been established. The question of how this might happen has haunted MCU fans for years, as they pondered how the franchise will explain away Magneto’s lack of presence in his children’s lives.

A surprisingly simple explanation was recently posted to Reddit’s Marvel Studios sub — one that makes sense in the franchise’s canon, and that unfortunately happens all too often in the real world. A fan took to the sub to note that the MCU could easily explain away Magneto’s absence by simply making him a distant father.

By simply establishing that Magneto abandoned his children before they were born, the MCU could allow Magneto to still be the twins’ father, but maintain all the storylines already established via previous releases. Characters and plotlines surrounding the twins’ childhoods, experimentation, and parents could be maintained, so long as the franchise shifted gears very slightly. Stepfathers exist, after all, and it’s entirely possible for the twins to have grown up with a father figure they don’t share blood with.

As commenters were quick to point out, the twins don’t need to be Magneto’s children in the MCU, but abandoning their ties from comics would surely rankle some fans. It’s not like the MCU hasn’t taken liberties with the source material before, however, and abandoning Wanda and Pietro’s original parentage wouldn’t be the biggest change the cinematic franchise has made.

Knowing that such a simple, believable explanation exists is a comfort to those fans who want to see the MCU maintain a blood tie between Magneto and his in-comics kids, but we wouldn’t blame the franchise if it went in a different direction. So long as it comes up with something more worthy of Magneto — and perhaps Wanda — than what was included in Multiverse of Madness, we can forgive some shuffling up of the original story.

2000’s X-Men has an excellent claim to have birthed the modern superhero movie. It faithfully adapted the characters and themes for the big screen, a tactic that was a breath of fresh air for comic book fans after so many botched superhero adaptations throughout the 1990s. It also birthed a cinematic universe that still has a faint pulse, with Hugh Jackman set to once again pop the claws as Wolverine in Deadpool 3.

But fans have just noted with surprise that X-Men introduces something to the Marvel universe that’s so obvious many assumed it’d been there all along: Magneto’s helmet blocking Xavier’s psychic abilities:

X-Men Twitter post

There are many skeptics in the comments claiming that Magneto’s helmet has this property in both X-Men: The Animated Series and in the comics, though other fans have brought receipts showing that they’re mistaken. Others are just astonished that it took until 2000 for a writer to come up with this:

X-Men Twitter post

Another notes that the Ultimate universe instantly incorporated this into their story as if it had been there all along, but the core 616 universe Magneto is so powerful he can simply naturally resist Xavier’s psychic intrusions and doesn’t need a special helmet. It’s also pointed out that Juggernaut’s helmet has always had this property, so X-Men writer David Hayter may have spotted that and realized it’d make sense for the cinematic Magneto’s helmet to do the same thing.

Like many fans, we’re shocked that this wasn’t a part of the comics all along, although it seems there Magneto has other ways of keeping his former friend Charles out of his brain. Whenever the MCU version of the pair arrives, we’re sure they’ll continue this plot point, as it just makes too much sense to be abandoned.

The latest rumor regarding the third Deadpool installment suggests that we will be seeing an awful lot of fan favorite characters from across the multiverse returning.

Of course, Marvel guards their secrets more ferociously than a dragon guarding its hoard, so any supposed “leaks” must be taken with a pinch of salt. However, if the rumors are to be believed, then the next Deadpool movie will definitely not be one to miss. According to an on Twitter, we won’t just be seeing Wolverine, but Magneto (Ian McKellen), Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Jean Grey (Famke Janssen) and Mr. Fantastic (Ioan Gruffud) too.

https://twitter.com/marvel_updat3s/status/1637561833547767808?s=20

2007 called, they want their Marvel cast back.

Fans were naturally quite skeptical about the rumor, with many asking for a source of which the Marvel Updates has yet to provide.

Others were disappointed that we wouldn’t be seeing the younger versions of Magneto and Professor X, played by Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy.

https://twitter.com/CrypticGhost708/status/1637565563860926464?s=20

Anything’s possible nowadays so we wouldn’t be surprised if we saw old faces as the multiverse continues to get bigger and more confusing. Will these be the versions of the characters we know and love? Or will it be approached the same way Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness did it? Who knows, it’s mostly speculation at this point.

This rumor does check out with earlier comments from Stewart, who implied that he and McKellen would return to their iconic roles in the MCU. However, many fans believe that they are more likely to appear in the Secret Wars movie rather than Deadpool 3. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Deadpool 3 is set to hit theaters November 8th 2024.

Could one of the first big screen Marvel villains be making their return?]]>
<![CDATA[

It turns out we may be seeing quite a few familiar faces in the Deadpool 3 as rumors suggest Ian McKellen will be making a return as the villainous Magneto, and fans are losing their minds over the possibility.

The rumor started after Patrick Stewart himself teased that he and long time pal McKellen had plans. Fans have theorized that Magneto will be making an appearance in the third Deadpool installment, as well as likely having a cameo in the Secret Wars movie scheduled for release in 2026.

As you can imagine, the news was music to the ears of fans who are looking forward to seeing heroes across many of the alternate Marvel universes popping up in titles. We’ve already seen Charles Xavier making an appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and so it looks like the studio now has McKellen on standby.

Fans were also curious if this meant other versions of their favorite heroes and villains would be appearing in Deadpool 3. Many are hoping to see a cameo of Michael Fassbender’s version of Magneto in the film as well. Anything’s possible with the multiverse, although there currently is no news to suggest Fassbender will be making an appearance.

Ryan Reynolds made the announcement that Deadpool 3 was underway last year in a video that also confirmed Hugh Jackman would be returning as Wolverine. We also know that the film will be the first R-rated MCU movie, although not much else is known about the plot of the movie or how it ties in to the multiverse saga.

McKellen’s last appearance as Magneto was almost 10 years ago, in 2014’s X-Men Days of Future Past. The actor is 83 years old now but it sounds like he’s still game for another round as the infamous Magneto and the fans are here for it.

Deadpool 3 is set for release Nov. 8, 2024.

Sounds like Charles Xavier's story has at least one more chapter.]]>
<![CDATA[

Superhero fans exploded with joy last year when we heard Patrick Stewart‘s mellifluous tones in the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer. Charles Xavier was back! Unfortunately for this multiversal variant of the character, he also ended up standing in the path of a very pissed-off Wanda Maximoff, and didn’t make it to the credits.

However, Stewart has hinted that he might yet return as Xavier in the MCU one more time after teasing that more may be coming while speaking to Entertainment Tonight in of Picard season three.

“I can’t say about what Charles’ future might possibly hold.”

This, combined with his recent aside that he’d “been told to stand by” about an appearance in Deadpool 3, may mean plans are afoot, though he also added “I know nothing more about that, honest.”

Stewart is also famed for his longtime friendship with Magneto actor Ian McKellen, revealing that he loved the Multiverse of Madness appearance, before adding that the pair are cooking something up:

“Actually, it went very well. He did say something like [‘Hey, I would’ve done this!’], yes that’s true. But we’re not done, Sir Ian and myself. We’re… we got plans.”

Stewart is 82 and McKellen is 83, so we doubt Marvel Studios would be looking to install them as the official MCU versions of Xavier and Magneto, but it certainly sounds like they may pop up in another multiversal story. Beyond that, we’re sure Kevin Feige is slowly narrowing down potential candidates to play the canonical X-Men and other mutant characters.

Then again, if Hugh Jackman can make the trip across dimensions and reprise Fox’s Wolverine, we’d be hopeful that they can snag Michael Fassbender again, as we adored his Magneto as much as we did McKellen’s.

MCU fans offer suggestions on how to keep Magneto’s origins comic 1j43u accurate https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/movies/mcu-fans-offer-suggestions-on-how-to-keep-magnetos-origins-comic-accurate/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/movies/mcu-fans-offer-suggestions-on-how-to-keep-magnetos-origins-comic-accurate/#respond <![CDATA[David James]]> Fri, 13 Jan 2023 09:33:18 +0000 <![CDATA[Marvel]]> <![CDATA[Movies]]> <![CDATA[News]]> <![CDATA[magneto]]> <![CDATA[Marvel Studios]]> <![CDATA[MCU]]> <![CDATA[X-Men]]> https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1396772 <![CDATA[
Marvel Studios has a tricky needle to thread with this character.]]>
<![CDATA[

Magneto will soon arrive in the MCU, and fans are curious about how Marvel Studios will approach his origin story. In 2000’s X-Men, the movie begins by showing Erik Lehnsher entering Auschwitz as a young child, with the trauma causing him to first manifest his ability to control metal.

Ian McKellen was the right age to for this origin to make sense back then, but how can the MCU introduce a new version of Magneto in the 2020s that maintains the Holocaust victim status that’s so key to understanding his motivations? Even those born in the Nazi death camps are now in their late 70s, and in any event, we suspect Marvel Studios would prefer a version more in line with Michael Fassbender’s younger Magneto than McKellen’s.

One fan has an interesting idea:

But there’s a problem here. Michelle Pfieffer’s Janet van Dyne was trapped in the Quantum Realm for 30 years, and when she emerged, she was much older than when she went in. This implies that time doesn’t move differently in this subatomic world, so even if Magneto was placed into it in the 1950s or 60s, he’d still come out as an old man.

Another fan comes up with what might be a better option:

Magneto being a dark mirror of Steve Rogers would be a fun take, as holding a serious grudge against the Nazis and contending with the modern world after so long on ice would doubtless make for an intriguing story, and it’d make sense for Bucky himself to get involved as a fellow World War II veteran.

However it happens, we hope the MCU finds a way to maintain his backstory as a Holocaust survivor, as it gives a new dimension to his rage that takes him way beyond a regular supervillain. Fingers crossed we get some hints as to a mysterious man with power over metal in projects.

Wannabe Watchers ask what if an X 726w16 Men icon had been the one to face Thanos in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/movies/wannabe-watchers-ask-what-if-an-x-men-icon-had-been-the-one-to-face-thanos-in-avengers-endgame/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/movies/wannabe-watchers-ask-what-if-an-x-men-icon-had-been-the-one-to-face-thanos-in-avengers-endgame/#respond <![CDATA[David James]]> Mon, 09 Jan 2023 14:35:40 +0000 <![CDATA[Marvel]]> <![CDATA[Movies]]> <![CDATA[News]]> <![CDATA[Avengers: Endgame]]> <![CDATA[magneto]]> <![CDATA[MCU]]> <![CDATA[Thanos]]> <![CDATA[X-Men]]> https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1392852 <![CDATA[
If mutants were around in 'Endgame' then Thanos wouldn't stand a chance.]]>
<![CDATA[

Over the next few years, we can expect Marvel Studios to slowly drip-feed ever-increasing numbers of mutants into the MCU. That process has already begun with Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the late revelation in Ms. Marvel, and Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. But with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine coming in Deadpool 3, the cork is finally blasting off the bottle.

But what if mutants had been around for some of the most pivotal moments in MCU history? It’s a question that’d have the Watcher scratching his oversize forehead as he puzzles the ramifications, but Marvel fans are busily debating a particularly fun question relating to Avengers: Endgame:

First up, while we have a lot of sympathy for Magneto, we agree with fans that his getting hold of the Infinity Gauntlet would be a very bad thing:

If you’re curious about whether Magneto could even manipulate the gauntlet, rest assured he’s definitely capable of it:

Let’s face it, a battlefield scattered with pieces of tangled metal gives Magneto a huge advantage:

We agree that Magneto’s past would put him in opposition to Thanos, but the Reality Stone potentially nullifying his magnetic powers is an interesting wrinkle:

It’s also interesting that Multiverse of Madness‘ Earth-538 presumably had a Magneto to match its Professor X, and he was nowhere to be seen during their final face-off with Thanos:

In a few years time, we won’t have to theorize anymore. A version of Magneto is guaranteed to arrive in the MCU and we’re very curious to see who’ll play him. The most obvious answer is a new actor and version of the character, perhaps with a slightly altered backstory due to the timeline of him being a Holocaust survivor not adding up in 2020.

Then again, if they can get Jackman into the MCU, why not Michael Fassbender?

Fans wonder not if Magento can beat Ultron in a fight, but just how long Ultron could last against the powerful mutant.]]>
<![CDATA[

As it stands, the X-Men have not truly been introduced into the MCU, aside from Charles Xavier’s brief and tragic appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, some are wondering what would happen if one of the strongest mutants went up against a former Avengers-level threat.

Magneto is one of the strongest characters in the Marvel comics, and also in the X-Men movie franchise. His ability to manipulate metal by controlling electromagnet fields makes him a formidable foe, especially in a world where metals are used everywhere. Ultron, on the other hand, is a powerful AI, one that has gained enough intelligence to rebel against his creator.

In the comics that’s Hank Pym, and in the 2015 movie Avengers: Age of Ultron, it is Tony Stark and Bruce Banner. The two favorites are similar in a way, both believe they know what’s best for mankind (or mutant kind) and have no qualms killing anyone who gets in their way.

In the comics, both have been a thorn in the Avengers’ side, but of the two, Magneto has proved himself to be a truly terrifying opponent. He is one of the strongest mutants alive and his powers are insane. In the movies, though, Ultron proves to be a tough cookie, one that requires the entirety of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to take him down, including the creation of one of the strongest Avengers just for this purpose, Vision.

MCU fans are now wondering what would happen if the two got into a fight, with the question posed as if they already expect the victory to be Magneto’s, by asking how long Ultron would last against him.

This thinks the title might have to change if it was Magneto going up against Ultron.

Another thinks even that is generous.

One doesn’t even think there would be a movie, with a fight length only worthy of a post-credits scene.

Some however start to question the “science” behind Magneto’s ability in relation to Vibranium.

Some are wondering what the truth is behind his abilities, as different sources have said different things.

This is thinking about an ability that perhaps Magneto would be unable to combat, Ultron exists as an AI in the internet so must be purged by another AI.

Some feel that, thanks to Magneto’s general lack of care for humanity he wouldn’t have even cared.

It is unlikely we will ever see this fight as part of the MCU thanks to the Avengers having already taken care of Ultron on the big screen. It would be interesting to see an AI with extraordinary intelligence (but made of metal) go up against a man who can control the alloy with his mind. As with anything to do with Marvel, you never know what is hidden up those sleeves, so who can say for sure?
