It’s not the first thing that comes to mind when you hear his thick North Carolina accent on season 3 of The White Lotus, but Jason Isaacs is no stranger to cinematic villainy.

Just look at his filmography: Captain Hook. Ra’s al Ghul. Sinestro. The Inquisitor. Lex Luthor. Satan. Does it get more evil than that? When you’re Jason Isaacs, the answer is yes. Arguably his most famous and memorable role is that of Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films. First appearing in Chamber of Secrets, Isaacs imbued Lucius with the kind of hair-raising intensity only Bellatrix Lestrange and Voldemort himself could later match. His luscious blonde locks and scene-stealing snarl quickly cemented Lucius as a Potter villain to hate ⏤ and incredibly difficult to replicate.

Now that a new Potter show is on the way, a key casting question is demanding attention: who’s going to play the new Lucius? Thankfully for fans chomping at the bit, Isaacs has an answer……and it’s the last one you’re expecting.

Who does Jason Isaacs think should play the new Lucius Malfoy?

In conversation with Variety, Isaacs recently revealed who would play the new Lucius “if he were in charge”: Meryl Streep! I know what you’re thinking: who? I’M KIDDING, SAMANTHA. We know her, we love her, and yes, now we kind of need her to play Papa Malfoy just to see her knock it out of the park. As for why Isaacs thinks Streep is perfect for the role, his justification is sound.

“She can do anything, that woman,” he told the publication. “There’s literally no limit to what she can do.” With a historic career that has seen her win three Oscars and be nominated for a whopping 21, Streep obviously needs no introduction. She’s played everyone from Joanna Kramer to Miranda Priestley, and she has yet to meet her match. (Although some would argue her successor is well on her way). Though there’s an enormous chance Isaacs was being facetious with his answer to Variety’s question, it would not be a stretch to see Streep fill Lucius’ shoes and slay, kween.

When asked what advice he would give new incoming Potter actors, Isaacs kept his cards close to the vest. “I wouldn’t have any advice at all,” he revealed. “Why would I bother? I know some of the people they’re casting already. They’re brilliant actors. It’s going to be fantastic, and the last thing they need is advice from some old fart like me.”

That “old fart” happened to craft one of the more memorable cinematic villains of all time, but we understand where he’s coming from. Max’s new series opens up the door to a whole new generation of possibilities, especially now that far too many of the prior Potter creatives have left us too soon. So far, John Lithgow has been announced as the new Dumbledore, with I May Destroy You breakout Paapa Essiedu crowned the new Severus Snape. Potter author J.K. Rowling, who in recent years has earned the internet’s ire following her consistently controversial anti-transgender views, had previously insisted that American actors not be cast in the largely British roles she’d created. Lithgow’s casting confirms that she’s not being as strict this time around, which also means that Streep being in the running for Draco’s daddy is not outside the realm of possibility.

With season 5 of Only Murders in the Building, a TV adaptation of The Corrections, and the long-awaited sequel to The Devil Wears Prada on her plate, Streep might simply be too busy to step into the shoes of a dark wizard at the moment. That said, following her Oscar-nominated turn as The Witch in Into the Woods, perhaps she’s got more magic to do before she receives her inevitable 22nd Oscar nominaish. As for Isaacs, we’re just hoping he survives his stay at a certain hotel ⏤ and that his pants stay on for the rest of the season.

‘What a damn strong woman’: Meryl Streep turned into MacGyver to escape L.A. fires after driveway got blocked by fallen tree https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/what-a-damn-strong-woman-meryl-streep-turned-into-macgyver-to-escape-l-a-fires-after-driveway-got-blocked-by-fallen-tree/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/what-a-damn-strong-woman-meryl-streep-turned-into-macgyver-to-escape-l-a-fires-after-driveway-got-blocked-by-fallen-tree/#respond Thu, 30 Jan 2025 00:38:27 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1829627 The actress' nephew recounted her fearlessness in the face of crisis. ]]>

In yet more proof that Meryl Streep is an icon, the actress is said to have cut a “car-sized hole” in her fence as a means of escaping the Los Angeles wildfires.

News of the acclaimed actress’ MacGyver-like manoeuvre (cast her in the reboot?) came courtesy of her nephew, journalist Abe Streep. Writing in New York Magazine, Abe recounted Streep’s encounter with the Eaton blaze, which threatened her home in Pasadena when the wildfires broke out across Southern California earlier this month. After being ordered to evacuate on Jan. 8 — the day after the onset of the Palisades and Eaton fires — Streep took matters into her own hands… quite literally.

“When [Streep] tried to leave, she discovered that a large tree had fallen over in her driveway, blocking her only exit,” Abe recalled. While us regular folk might’ve descended into panic, the Oscar-winning actress was intent on fleeing to safety, and opted for a bit of resourceful handiwork to create a route of her own. “Determined to make it out, she borrowed wire cutters from a neighbour, cut a car-size hole in the fence she shared with the neighbours on the other side, and drove through their yard to escape.”

Given the sheer volume of her credits list, it’s possible Streep picked up a few techniques on set that made such an escape possible, though it’s far more likely she is simply the heroine we all imagine her to be. In any case, the actress was successful in evacuating her home, and it’s thought that her Pasadena residence was thankfully not burned down by the wildfires. Many have reacted to Streep’s fearlessness on social media, with one X describing her as a “damn strong woman.”

After recalling his aunt’s fearlessness in the face of crisis, Abe also spoke with fellow actor Martin Short about his own experience battling the Eaton wildfires. According to the , Short — who stars alongside Streep in Only Murders in the Building — saw the encroaching flames from the balcony of his home in the Palisades, which he purchased in 1984. While he was initially planning to remain in situ, Short only made the decision to evacuate after his son, who lives nearby, called him and told him to flee. The actor did not face an obstruction to his exit like Streep, but he did encounter an obstacle in the form of gridlock and panic.

The route to safety, which Short said would usually “take five minutes,” ended up lasting “more than an hour” due to heavy traffic. Short said he made sure to bring his family photos with him as he evacuated. While the actor’s own house was thankfully unscathed by the fires, his son unfortunately lost his home in the Palisades. That adds to a long list of notable names whose houses were destroyed by the blaze, with Mel Gibson, Paris Hilton, Billy Crystal, Tyra Banks, Mandy Moore, and Eugene Levy each enduring the loss of their homes as a result of the devastating natural disaster, among many others

Beyond the tragic loss felt by those in the community, the wildfires have unfortunately become a political issue at the hands of newly elected President Donald Trump, who attacked California Governor Gavin Newsom over his handling of the crisis. All the while, Trump’s new istration has floated plans to cut funding to FEMA, to the point where I wonder whether Streep’s wire cutters are strong enough to burrow into the Oval Office. President Streep has a nice ring to it.

It’s official… the Big Little Lies cast, including Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman, are returning for a third season

While cast have been teasing the possibility of a Season 3 for months, Witherspoon confirmed the news last weekend at a red carpet event for her media company, Hello Sunshine.

“Nicole and I have been waiting. We’re in waiting for Liane Moriarty. She’s going to be turning in something very soon,” Witherspoon told E! News. “We’re back to the original author, and we’re going to go back to the original characters,” she added.

Big Little Lies centers around a group of upper-class moms who become involved in a murder investigation while living in a picturesque California beach town. The hit mystery show, which premiered in 2017, has a star-studded lineup, including Witherspoon, Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz, Laura Dern, and Meryl Streep — who was added in Season 2. It’s based on a 2014 novel – that shares the same name – written by Liane Moriarty.

WHERE TO WATCH: (free trial)

We know little about the new season except that it may feature the same character lineup. “I think the kids are probably a little bit older now, so that might add another element,” Witherspoon said.

While we wait for the news to drop on a Big Little Lies Season 3 premiere date, here’s everything you need to know to catch up on Seasons 1 and 2, including airtimes, cast details, and streaming information.

Where to watch Big Little Lies

Viewers can stream every episode of Big Little Lies on Hulu or Max for free without cable. There have been 17 episodes produced, with seven episodes in each of the first two seasons.

“There’s a timeline, and we’re doing it,” Kidman told Variety, adding that she and Witherspoon, both producers on the show, are “texting every day” about the season.

Details surrounding the new season are off-limits for now, though. “We can’t say anything more,” Kidman said. “We’ve got to start keeping our mouths shut…We’ve got to button it,” she said.

Kravitz, 35, has also talked about the latest installment, although she’s itted that she knows very little about it yet. “I’m waiting to see, like everybody else, the third season that’s happening,” Kravitz told People. “Waiting by the phone, waiting for the script to be done.”

Big Little Lies was initially slated to be a one-season show, however, it returned for a second season in 2019. The show has received 21 Emmy nominations and has won seven of them.

Actress Meryl Streep has been in show business for more than five decades, but despite being a public figure, she has generally kept her personal life private — and that includes her relationships.

Streep, born in 1949 in New Jersey, began her acting career by appearing in several theater productions. She moved to New York City in 1975 where she was cast in several shows. It was in one of those productions where she met a fellow actor who would be her boyfriend.

John Cazale

John Cazale, like Streep, had a background in theater and had appeared in a few movies including The Godfather (1972), The Godfather Part II (1974), The Conversation (1974), and Dog Day Afternoon (1974). In the summer of 1976, he played the role of Angelo in the theater production Measure for Measure based on William Shakespeare’s play. It was there that he met Meryl Streep who portrayed Isabella.

The two had an instant connection despite Streep being 14 years Cazale’s junior. They started a romantic relationship and moved in together in a loft in Tribeca. At that time, Cazale was more famous than Streep, but still, he wasn’t a big star. He told Streep that he would marry her when he got his big break. Things were going well, both in their professional and personal lives. That changed, however, when Cazale was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer.

Cazale had been cast in Deer Hunter alongside Robert De Niro, but the studio wanted to replace the former due to his diagnosis and the insurance costs that came with it. De Niro insisted that Cazale be in the movie and paid for the actor’s insurance himself. Streep also had a role in the movie. Theater director, Joe Papp, witnessed the love between the two and said, “She took care of him like there was nobody else on Earth.” Actor Al Pacino, who was close friends with Cazale, also saw Streep’s devotion throughout Cazale’s health struggles. “When I saw that girl there with him like that I thought, ‘There’s nothing like that…’ As great as she is in all her work, that’s what I think of when I think of her.”

After shooting Deer Hunter, Streep flew to Austria to shoot a miniseries titled Holocaust, a job she accepted just to help pay for her partner’s mounting medical bills. Afterward, she went back home to New York and focused on taking care of Cazale, whose health was rapidly declining. The 42-year-old actor died on Mar. 12, 1978, in a hospital with Streep by his side.

Don Gummer

Streep spent time in Canada with a friend to grieve after Cazale’s ing. Upon her return to New York, she found herself evicted from the place she shared with Cazale. Streep’s brother, Harry, helped her sister pack and brought a friend with him, sculptor Don Gummer. Streep and Gummer had met in ing a few times before, but the actress hadn’t paid him much attention. Gummer was scheduled to be overseas and offered for Streep to stay in his New York apartment in his absence, and she accepted.

The love between the two wasn’t instant. Instead, they got to know each other through letters. Streep soon discovered that Gummer wanted to be more than friends, but the former was still grieving the loss of Cazale and wasn’t confident that entering a new relationship was the best. With the urging of a friend, however, she spent more time with Gummer and after dating, they married on Sept. 30, 1978, six months after Cazale’s death.

Some of the people close to Streep were skeptical about the union, including her mother and friends who wondered whether Gummer was just a rebound. However, that was proven not to be the case. Streep and Gummer have been photographed over the years, enjoying date nights and attending red-carpet events. Together, they have four children: Henry, Mamie, Grace, and Louisa. In 2023, Streep, via her representative, announced that she and her husband had been separated for six years. Beyond these, there have been no other confirmed romantic relationships involving Streep.

Award-winning actress Meryl Streep started her career in the 1960s, appearing on Broadway shows before transitioning to acting for the silver screen in the ‘70s. Since then, she has managed to maintain a successful career and is considered one of the best actresses of her generation.

While working in Hollywood, she was also building a family with her husband, sculptor Don Gummer.Meryl Streep — whose real name is Mary Louise Streep — married Don in 1978 after dating for six months. Prior to that, Meryl was in a relationship with actor John Cazale for two years until he died of cancer in 1978.

Despite still being officially married, Streep’s representative revealed in 2023 that the actress had been separated from her husband for six years. Their last public appearance together was in 2018, and they share four children together — one son and three daughters.

Henry Wolfe Gummer

Henry Wolfe Gummer, who was born in 1979, is Streep’s only son. He is a musician and was part of the band Bravo Silva before he embarked on a solo career. The artist, who goes professionally by Henry Wolfe, has released two EPs, and his songs have been used in major motion pictures like the Streep-starring Julie & Julia.

Mary Willa “Mamie” Gummer

Meryl Streep’s first daughter Mamie Gummer, was born in 1983, and she decided to become an actress like her mother. Mamie’s acting debut came in 1986 when she starred alongside her mother in the movie Heartburn, where she was credited as Natalie Stern to keep her identity hidden. Her performance was lauded in The New York Times review of the movie, which read, “Natalie Stern, an inordinately cute baby, is already accomplished enough to steal scenes even from Miss Streep.”

Mamie has appeared in TV shows including The Good Wife, Emily Owens, M.D., and True Detective, as well as the movies Separation, An Actor Prepares, and Ricki and the Flash alongside her mother.

Grace Jane Gummer

Grace Gummer was born in 1986 and is also an actress. Her first role was in 1993’s House of Spirits, where she portrayed the younger version of Clara, played by Streep. Like her sister, she was credited with a different name — Jane Grey — to keep her privacy.

She has since appeared in several movies, as well as TV shows including The Newsroom, American Horror Story, and Mr. Robot. Grace is married to music producer Mark Ronson, who is behind hits like Uptown Funk and the Barbie soundtrack.

Louisa Jacobson Gummer

Louisa, born in 1991, is the youngest of the Gummer siblings. Like her sisters and mother, Louisa is an actress but goes by the name Louisa Jacobson, as there’s another actress named Louisa Gummer, which isn’t allowed, per Screen Actors Guild rules.

She graduated college with a degree in psychology but realized that she wanted to pursue acting. Louisa obtained a master’s degree at the Yale School of Drama and plays the role of Marian Brook in the HBO series The Gilded Age.

Entertainers have a long-running trend of using stage names instead of their given names for work. And Hollywood icon Meryl Streep is no exception!

Receiving her first Oscar nomination for The Deer Hunter in 1978, merely a year after her feature film debut in Hollywood, Meryl Streep rose to fame as the best and most promising actress of her generation. She won her first Academy Award for Best ing Actress for playing the troubled wife Joanna Kramer in Kramer vs. Kramer a year later in 1979.

After almost five decades in the industry, Streep now has a record 21 Academy Award nominations, winning three, and a record 34 Golden Globe Award nominations, winning nine. She also won two BAFTA Awards, three Primetime Emmy Awards, a Silver Bear and Honorary Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival, and Best Actress, Honorary Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

But the famous name, proudly attached to these achievements, wasn’t the one she was born with.

Meryl Streep’s real name

Dropping the bomb right away, “Meryl” is a nickname given to the iconic actress by her mother in childhood that stuck throughout her legendary career. The actress’ real name is Mary Louise Streep, which was given to her after her birth on June 22, 1949, in Summit, New Jersey to artist Mary Wilkinson Streep and pharmaceutical executive Harry William Streep Jr. She also has two younger brothers, Harry William Streep III and Dana David Streep, both actors as well.

Now you may have the question, why “Meryl”? Though the actress never really opened up about the nuances behind her nickname, “Meryl” might be a blend of her first name Mary, and the initial L of her middle name Louise. But “Maryl isn’t fancy enough, so “Meryl” it is. The actress decided on the name early in her career and has been credited as Meryl Streep in her very first feature film Julia (1977).

Streep’s mother has had a huge influence on both her name and her career

So, Meryl Streep’s mother is to be credited for giving the iconic name to the legendary actress, but she is also the one who encouraged her to pursue her dreams. In a conversation with Michelle Obama for Vanity Fair, Streep opened up about how her mother was her mentor.

“She was a mentor because she said to me, ‘Meryl, you’re capable. You’re so great.’ She was saying, ‘You can do whatever you put your mind to. If you’re lazy, you’re not going to get it done. But if you put your mind to it, you can do anything.'”

Even today, Meryl Streep channels her mother’s energy when stepping in front of the cameras or addressing the public. Despite seeing herself as more introverted than her outgoing mother, Streep its, “When I have to be in the spotlight, I think to myself, ‘Mary [Streep] could do it.'” Thus, in a sense, Mary is responsible for both Meryl’s legendary name and her subsequent rise to fame as an actor.

‘From my mouth to God’s ear’: If Donald Trump still needs help pronouncing Kamala Harris’ name, this Meryl Streep masterclass ought to help https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/if-donald-trump-still-needs-help-pronouncing-kamala-harris-name-this-meryl-streep-masterclass-ought-to-help/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/if-donald-trump-still-needs-help-pronouncing-kamala-harris-name-this-meryl-streep-masterclass-ought-to-help/#respond Fri, 20 Sep 2024 18:50:15 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1756654 She's already decided who won in her mind.]]>

Republican overlord Donald J. Trump has orchestrated and participated in plenty of discourteous acts throughout his life, but purposely, and consistently, pronouncing VP Kamala Harris’ name wrong is arguably the rudest. Luckily, acting legend Meryl Streep is here to save the day and correct Donny’s childish pronunciation problem.

While chatting with Oprah Winfrey during a “Unite for America” event, Harris was expectedly all smiles after Streep was brought in via a video call. During the 20-second clip posted on X, the Oscar-winning actress humbly and politely addressed the 59-year-old politician as “President Harris,” and then quickly covered her mouth as she realized her blunder. This resulted in Streep silently chuckling to herself while the live audience cheered loudly behind Harris and Winfrey.

Without skipping a beat, Harris chimed back with “47 days,” hinting at the possibility of the presidential nominee for the Democratic Party defeating Trump in November. Her quick-thinking response unsurprisingly attracted a similar reaction of cheers and applause as she and Streep both chuckled to themselves.

“From my mouth to God’s ear,” Streep swiftly added, placing the perfect cherry on top of a forward-thinking sundae. And, of course, she made sure to deliver an extra-special greeting to Oprah as Harris continued to smile and nod. Don’t even worry about her first name, Donny, just get used to saying the title of “president.”

Now, jumping the gun and prematurely addressing the current VP as the next president of the U.S. is certainly a bold move, but it’s clear that Streep is boasting an incredible amount of confidence in the outcome of the election. Much like the rest of us, she ultimately has a good feeling about one of the most fearless politicians in the landscape today — and that is definitely Kamala Harris to a T.

Political opinion aside, one of the greatest misfirings in Trump’s campaign — and indeed his entire career — is his complete lack of respect for others, even when they are his political opponents. In the end, respect is one of the best things you can give someone, so it begs the question of how anyone can trust a president who, more often than not, shows zero respect for anybody who isn’t his fiercest ally.

It’s a question that has divided both political parties for almost an entire decade since Trump started turning the wheels of his first (ever) political campaign back in 2015. Flash forward to 2024, and it’s evident that Harris has tremendous respect for others and has shown the makings of a noble, credible president who can lead a charge of change and hope. All that’s left for you to do is make that decision for yourself on voting day.

Donald Trump is a character that’s just begging to be parodied. He nails the mannerisms and that perpetual look of confusion mixed with smug satisfaction. It’s no wonder his biting satire won him an Emmy in 2017.

I can just picture Trump sitting in his gold-plated throne room, angrily tweeting about how Baldwin’s impression is “sad” and “overrated.” Sorry Donny, but the Emmy voters beg to differ, and let’s be honest – if you can’t handle a little bit of good-natured ribbing, then maybe politics isn’t the right career path for you.

Mertin? Anyway, are these two acclaimed thespians an item?]]>

Meryl Streep is one of the most beloved actresses of our time, with throngs of fans and a devoted following. Yet with so many eyes on her, we wanted to know, who exactly does she have eyes for, and could it be Martin Short?

Meryl Streep stole our hearts all the way back in 1977 with her debut acting role in Julia. After that, she secured several more life-changing and award-winning performances beginning with 1978’s The Deer Hunter, which won her first (of many) Oscar nominations. It wasn’t long until she became one of the most recognized and awarded actresses of our time. Witty, beautiful, and talented, it’s no wonder throngs of fans and more than one celebrity continue to compete for her attention. Yet we wanted to know who she might favor among them? Is there someone special in her life, and if so who is it? There have been various theories about it being Martin Short, and we decided to dig deep to find out if the rumors are true or just Hollywood acting.

Meryl Streep’s love life

Meryl Streep has had romances written in the Hollywood stars. She first dated her Deer Hunter costar John Cazale before he ed away from lung cancer in March 1978. She then married sculptor Don Gummer in September of that year and has been with him ever since — or so we all thought.

Despite the Streep-Gummer marriage lasting practically a lifetime by Hollywood standards, Streep keeps details about her relationship very hush-hush. She rarely discusses it, although in an interview with Vogue in 2002, she made a disclosure saying the secret to her happy marriage was “Goodwill and willingness to bend—and to shut up every once in a while.”

She has also explained in other interviews that Gummer didn’t mind taking on some of the childcare responsibilities so that she could continue to work and have peace of mind while doing so. She even thanked Gummer in her 2012 Oscar speech. Her emotional tribute stated, “First, I’m going to thank Don because when you thank your husband at the end of the speech, they play them out with the music and I want him to know that everything I value most in our lives, you’ve given me.”

After 45 years of marriage and four children together, it seemed like the marriage would go the distance. Yet in 2023 Streep made a shocking announcement to People when she revealed she and her husband had become estranged — six years prior! Streep kept details of her marriage and her separation very quiet, yet when the truth was revealed and the shock had ed fans had one final question. So — is she seeing anyone?

Are Meryl Streep and Martin Short dating?

Meryl Streep and her Murders In the Building costar Martin Short were seen together looking pretty cozy at their shared table at the Golden Globes. Immediately rumors began to fly. Short’s representatives were quick to respond, explaining to People, that while the dynamic duo grew close playing across each other on the Hulu hit, they “are just very good friends, nothing more.”

Bummer. Just when we thought we might be on to something.

Martin Short is another Hollywood success story with a career nearly as long as Meryl’s. He is well known for his role as the loveable but eccentric Frankc Eggelhoffer, starring across from Steven Martin in both Father Of The Bride and Father Of The Bride II. The role actually raised some questions about Martin Short’s sexuality, but it seems Short may have just played that role to perfection. He was married to Nancy Dolman for 30 years before her unfortunate ing in 2010, with no sign of relationship issues. He has never released any information to the contrary. Regardless, it is clear from Short’s representative statements, that he is not with Streep, the two are just friendly costars.

While it does leave fans questioning if there could be someone else, it is possible that with a world-renowned acting career, a busy life as a mother and grandmother, and just coming out of a 45-year marriage, that Streep isn’t even looking for love. Perhaps the actress is focusing on her other roles in life and putting the gig of “relationship partner” on the back burner for a while.

Exactly who is next to win the beloved actress’s affections is anyone’s guess. Although with Streep’s history of keeping her relationship cards close to her vest, we may not even know anything about it, until the relationship is well established — or maybe even already ended! Rumors will always follow big names in Hollywood, yet Streep has proven she is very adept at dispelling them, and we can safely put the Martin Short relationship rumor to bed. Nothing here to see folks — sorry.

Fast approaching the 96th ceremony, the annual Academy Awards, or Oscars, are the most prestigious accolades in show business. They reward artistic and technical achievement across filmmaking, music, and acting, but the top awards have remained consistent for many years.

Most headlines are saved for the Best Picture, Best Director, and actors and actresses in both lead and ing roles. While an increasing number of entertainment awards have embraced gender-neutral categories, there’s no sign the Oscars will change their top categories any time soon.

The outstanding performances in this top-tier list of award-winning actors span 90 years. From 1931 (when the sixth ceremony was held in a hotel) to 2021 (just before the Covid-19 pandemic posed one of the most significant challenges filmmaking has ever faced).

Despite its exclusivity, this list includes a range of distinctive actors, although there’s plenty of room for it to become more representative in future years. It shouldn’t be long until there are some significant changes. Despite the 19 phenomenal actors on this list who’ve left us since picking up their last award, the majority are still alive and working.

And, who knows? With how gifted this class of nominations is for the 2024 Oscars, perhaps these stats will alter when the envelopes are opened on March 10.

Which actor has the most wins at the Oscars?

Legendary American actress Katharine Hepburn stands out from the crowd with four wins from 12 nominations. All her awards came in the Best Actress category. She won for Morning Glory (1933), Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner (1967), The Lion in Winter (1968), and On Golden Pond (1981). Hepburn collected the first and last of her four Oscars 48 years apart, famously skipping out on attending the ceremony multiple times.

Who’s closing in?

Six actors have picked up three Oscars for acting, three male and three female. Of those six, two are no longer with us. Walter Brennan picked up three wins in the best ing category in just four years, from a total of four nominations. The films he won with were Come and Get It (1936), Kentucky (1938), and The Westerner (1940).

Unfortunately, we also lost the brilliant Ingrid Bergman in 1982. She picked up the Best Actress prize for Gaslight (1944) and Anastasia (1956), from seven nominations. In 1974, she claimed the Best ing Actress award for Murder on the Orient Express.

The contenders who could still match or beat Hepburn’s record are naturally household names.

Jack Nicholson has three wins from 12 nominations so far, although the rumor is that he called time on acting in 2018. His impressive career took in two Best Actor Oscars for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975) and As Good as It Gets (1997). His third was a Best ing Actor statue for 1983’s of Endearment.

Daniel Day-Lewis has three wins from six noms, despite his frequent mini-retirements. Day-Lewis’s three Best Actor awards came for My Left Foot (1989), There Will Be Blood (2007), and Lincoln (2012). He retired after completing 2017’s Phantom Thread (one of his Oscar nominations).

Things are a little more competitive on the Best Actress side. Meryl Streep has received an astounding 21 nominations and received the award on three occasions. She won the Best Actress award for Sophie’s Choice (1982) and The Iron Lady (2011). Before that, she also picked up the Best ing Actress prize for Kramer vs. Kramer in 1979.

However, the big surprise is that Meryl Streep might not be first in line to match Katherine Hepburn’s haul. She has stiff competition in s McDormand, who has already picked up four Oscars, although only three in the acting categories. Her most recent Academy Award was for Best Picture as a producer of Nomadland in 2020. For acting, she has picked up three wins from six nominations: Best Actress prizes for Fargo in 1996, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri in 2017, and Nomadland in 2020.

Meryl Streep is to the Oscars what peanut butter is to jelly — inseparable. You might like your peanut butter better with yogurt or on fruit, but the world will always associate it with jelly first.

Streep, who has been acting since the 1970s, is the single most nominated actor, male or female, in Oscars history — her 21 nominations putting Jack Nicholson’s 12 to shame. These numbers are not surprising when you consider the legendary actress’ illustrious career, which has included classics like The Deer Hunter, The Bridges of Madison County, Sophie’s Choice, and Out of Africa, among many others. Granted, nominations given later in life came from performances in weaker films, but Streep’s unwavering talent still managed to transcend them.

Has Meryl Streep ever won an Oscar?

Yes. With as many nods as Meryl Streep has received from the Academy over the years, it would be shocking if she had never taken the golden statuette home. It has happened on three occasions.

Meryl Streep’s first Oscar came in 1980 for the previous year’s film Kramer vs. Kramer, where the actress played Joanna, the wife of Dustin Hoffman’s character, as the two entered a complicated divorce process, impacting their young son (Justin Henry). Streep won for Best ing Actress, beating out castmate Jane Alexander, Breaking Away‘s Barbara Barrie, Starting Over‘s Candice Bergen, and Manhattan‘s Mariel Hemingway.

Only three years later, Streep was climbing the stairs of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion stage again, this time winning in the Lead Actress category for her culture-shifting role in Sophie’s Choice. Her opponents were heavyweights of the acting world themselves — Julie Andrews for Victor/Victoria, Jessica Lange for s, Sissy Spacek for Missing, and Debra Winger for An Officer and a Gentleman.

Despite 12 nominations in the years in between, Streep’s third win would only come in 2011 with the Margaret Thatcher biopic The Iron Lady, where she played the titular, relentless former British prime minister. She was met with loud cheers and a standing ovation from her peers attending the ceremony, including her fellow nominees Glenn Close, Viola Davis, Rooney Mara, and Michelle Williams. “When they called my name, I had this feeling I could hear half of America going ‘Oh no. Oh, come on, why? Her? Again">well on her way to stealing. Meryl Streep and Oscar: A love affair as timeless as peanut butter and jelly.

Starting her career in the late ‘70s, Meryl Streep has gone on to impress millions of viewers with her nuanced portrayals in many iconic films. Considered one of the best actors of her generation, she naturally inspires a lot of curiosity, which isn’t limited to her next exceptional role.

From her beginnings as part of The Deer Hunter cast to her delightful portrayal of Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada, Streep’s best movie roles are beyond reproach. But for someone in the limelight for so many decades, stardom has its drawbacks. As one of the most recognizable beings on the planet, she should value her privacy. That is why it shocked many that the Sophie’s Choice actor has separated from her husband of over four decades, Don Gummer. Page Six released a t statement from the couple that they no longer enjoyed a shared life together.

“Don Gummer and Meryl Streep have been separated for more than 6 years, and while they will always care for each other, they have chosen lives apart.”

It makes one wonder where exactly the acclaimed actor resides nowadays.

Meryl Streep has had many places of residence

By all s, Streep lived a consistent life with her former partner. Together they raised four children in the comfort of their Connecticut home. On the farm located in Salisbury, Streep and Gummer had Henry Wolfe, Mamie Gummer, Grace Gummer, and Louisa Jacobson, who have experienced varying levels of success in their adult lives. HBO Max fans may recognize Louisa Jacobson in particular as the protagonist of The Gilded Age. Gummer and Streep also shared a loft in Tribeca before selling it in 2018.

It seems that predominantly, The Iron Lady actor spends her time in California when she is not at her family estate in Connecticut. The Observer reported that Streep bought a mid-century-style home in Pasadena. Given the revelation that Gummer and Streep had been living separate lives all this time, it may indicate that her latest purchase is currently her home. Bought for just over $4 million, the home is a three-bedroom, three-bedroom house that was constructed at the tail-end of the ‘50s. The Pasadena house, which has over 3,000 square feet, has only exchanged hands once since its construction.

There is no confirmation of where the award-winning actor spends most of her time, but that may be for the best. Everyone deserves their privacy, including the world’s most famous actor.
