Mugs are the best kind of merch, if we're being honest. ]]>
<![CDATA[

To quote Demi Lovato: we like mugs because they’re very comfortable in our hands. They also just so happen to be the best way to introduce a little bit of our inner weeb within the walls of our homes without accidentally driving anyone away with anime. Lowkey fanboyism is a science, okay? 535l5m

Plus, everyone owns and needs mugs — hence why they make the perfect gift and merch all in one. The only problem is that if you want an anime mug, you might not find particularly good ones in physical stores. More often than not, we must resort to online stores — well, Amazon, really — to find good ones that aren’t just designed with blurred images of Naruto and Sasuke. With that said, if you’re hoping to find the best anime mugs online for your favorite weeb (or for yourself, let’s be honest), you’ve come to the right place.

One Piece devil fruit mug 38e6q

You might have thought we’d choose the usual straw hat mug that everyone seems to have — it is pretty cool, after all — but we decided to surprise you with this 5-star-rated devil fruit mug instead. It’s a shiny blue mug with the phrase “I’m gonna be king of the pirates” printed on the edge of the Sara Sara no Mi, Model: Axolotl. While it is a bit on the expensive side on Amazon, I can assure you it’s worth the money — I know this because I actually own this one.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Gojo and Geto couple mugs 1x325s

Geto and Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen couple mugs
via Walmart

If you’re hoping to take a break from browsing Amazon and just so happen to be looking for the perfect couple’s mugs, I’ve got you covered. These Jujutsu Kaisen cups from Walmart are not only subtle enough to blend into any dishware set, but they’re also not too shabby when it comes to the price on the Walmart website. To be honest, part of why we find these especially cute is because they feature the most tragic ship in Shonen: Satosugu.

Studio Ghibli’s pretty glass mug 1k2m16

'My Neighbor Totoro' green glass mug from boxlunch
via Boxlunch

It comes as no surprise that Studio Ghibli’s mugs are next level. They’re unique and mesmerizing. This Boxlunch glass mug, though, struck us with nostalgia (because which one of us didn’t have a grandma with glass mugs?), but its green hue is just the perfect touch of modernity to make it one of the most beautiful mugs you can get in 2024. Of course, the Neighbor Totoro design makes it even better, elevating this already near-perfect design to pure perfection.

Pokemon’s Pikachu and Pokeball mugs 2un5k

Pikachu and Pokeball Pokemon mugs

Granted, these are not the most modern or refined pieces of merch one can get, but consider this: they’re super fun. This Amazon mug set is the kind that will not only entertain guests with its quirkiness, but if you have little ones at home, it’s the perfect set to guarantee some bonding over chocolate milk while a Pokémon marathon plays in the background. The opportunities to use these are endless — especially now that we have Pokemon Horizons: The Series to re-watch on repeat.

Demon Slayer Kitsune Mask 38323

Demon slayer mug with Tanjiro's mask
via Amazon-com

Truth be told, there are plenty of Demon Slayer mugs on Amazon. Sometimes, though, a design just talks to your inner weeb in the best way possible. Yeah, that was this mug for me. With Tanjiro’s mask, a Japanese illustration alluding to Tanjiro’s water-breathing forms, and a black square for the aesthetic, this mug is minimalist, incredibly pretty, and one of the best Demon Slayer mugs out there if I do say so myself.

Spy x Family Anya and Bond mug 5y4p33

Anya and Bond mug from Spy x Family
via Crunchyroll Store

The scarcity of Spy x Family mugs out there is criminal. Thankfully, though, the Crunchyroll store actually happens to have one of the best. This cute mug not only shows Anya and Bondarguably the two cutest characters in anime right now — but also includes a bunch of graphic elements alluding to the show, such as Anya’s penguin toy. It’s the kind of mug that will remind you of your comfort anime. However, if you want subtle merch, this mug is not it — but I’d proudly show it to everyone nonetheless.

Oshi No Ko‘s vintage mug 712q5

Oshi no Ko Y2K style mug
via Amazon.com

Now, for all the Gen Z’ers in the room, I have the perfect Y2K mug for you. This Oshi No Ko Amazon cup has a really cool and nostalgic design, almost reminiscent of early 2000s shirt designs that are now called “vintage.” Stab in the heart aside, this Ai Hoshino mug is not only the perfect merch for our favorite animated Japanese idol, but also an ode to the second season of the anime, which is already set for its 2024 release.

My Hero Academia’s relatable Aizawa mug 4r3wn

My Hero Academia's Shota Aizawa mug from Amazon
Image via Amazon.com

This My Hero Academia mug is possibly the most relatable piece of merch on this list. With a chibi design and Shota Aizawa’s death stare — ready to kill anyone who gets between him and his coffee— this mug perfectly embodies how everyone feels in the morning: always tired. While it may not be particularly aesthetic or suited for a girly home, it is still perfect for Zillennials hoping to mix a little bit of fandom love into their everyday routine.

One Punch Man Saitama mug 2s6sm

Saitama mug from One Punch Man

We have yet to get a release date for One Punch Man season 3, but once we do — and if it falls in 2024 — we can at least make sure we have a Saitama mug to accompany us throughout the next season. This Amazon mug is simple in the best possible way. Having Saitama’s plain and nonchalant face, with a where he’s just saying “OK,” is probably the best representation of One Punch Man I can think of.

Hunter x Hunter‘s heat changing mug 2b3b4a

Gon heat activated mug from Hunter x Hunter
via Walmart

Granted, Hunter x Hunter isn’t the most relevant anime in 2024, considering the manga’s dire lack of updates. However, when I saw this heat-changing mug at Walmart, I couldn’t help but add it to this list. In our opinion, heat-activated mugs are some of the coolest merch items out there, and this one activates green flames behind Gon to match his iconic green attire. The only way we could think to make this better is if there existed a blue Killua mug to match, but no pressure, Walmart!

One Piece Chopper mug a4gc

Chopper One Piece pink mug

One can never have too many One Piece mugs — especially when there are so many cool ones on Amazon. For the sake of your wallet, this is our last One Piece pick though, and it just so happens to be a ceramic cup with a wooden lid! It has a lid, everyone! There are also three variations: Chopper’s is pink, Zoro’s is green, and Luffy’s is white. Personally, I think Chopper’s is the cutest, but Luffy’s is a good runner-up.

Attack on Titan‘s most useful mug 14345q

Attack on Titan green mug from Walmart
via Walmart

Attack on Titan’s last episode might have aired six months ago, but we’re still grieving our time together with the Survey Corps — and surprisingly, all the Titans. Now that we’re getting used to life without AOT, at least we can get the ODM gear blades of mugs with this green multifunctional Walmart mug. Aside from its color — which will undoubtedly and seamlessly blend in with any kind of dishware — it also works as a sugar cube dispenser, or alternatively, the best mug to carry around without spilling any hot chocolate (and you can stir it anytime you want!).

Sailor Moon ombré mug 524o62

Sailor moon dark and light blue ombré mug
via Boxlunch

Sailor Moon is the gift that keeps on giving. It doesn’t matter if you started watching it in 1991 or 2024 — there is always a new sequel, movie, or adaptation on the way. Sailor Moon is just that iconic. In 2024, we’ll be getting the final entry in the Sailor Moon Crystal story, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos: The Movie, and we need the perfect mug for our imminent Sailor Moon marathon. That’s where this BoxLunch ombré mug comes in. It’s pretty, classy, and perfectly channels the Cosmos energy.

<![CDATA[

Let’s talk about life’s big mysteries for a second. Why is the Bermuda Triangle so picky with its victims? How come printer ink costs more than a good steak? And why, for the love of all things animated and bald, has it taken so long for One Punch Man season 3 to grace our screens? Well, folks, it’s about time, as Saitama is punching his way back into our lives!

For the uninitiated, One Punch Man is the shonen anime that flips the genre on its head. Saitama, our hero, is so powerful he can defeat any enemy with a single punch — hence the name. It’s both a blessing and a curse because, let’s be honest, the guy is dying of boredom. Two seasons in, and we have seen him face monsters, robots, and sea creatures, all dispatched with the same disinterested swat.

Now, here’s the thing. The One Punch Man manga has over 200 chapters, and season 2 only covered up to Chapter 85. There’s so much more story to explore, especially the epic showdown between Saitama and Garou (Although Saitama probably cares less about this fight than we do. He’d rather be at a grocery sale or something).

One Punch Man season 3, episode 1 release date 64j4b

Unfortunately, we don’t have an exact release date for OPM season 3, episode 1 yet. Rumor has it that the latest season is set to premiere in 2024. The voice actor for Genos, Kaito Ishikawa, even hinted at it on X (formally Twitter) in January. He teased a list of his projects for 2024, and yes, One Punch Man made the cut. Then came the trailer in February, all shiny and explosive.

So, while the creators haven’t given us an exact date yet, all signs point to “soon.” This means don’t stray too far — as soon as the date is announced, you can expect an update from us.

A hilarious new world of heroes and monsters awaits you.]]>
<![CDATA[

Even those who aren’t familiar with One or most of his works, they have certainly heard about the author’s most overpowered character, Saitama. One Punch Man‘s protagonist is undoubtedly among the strongest and fastest in the anime scene, with a reputation that precedes him. Thus, it’s never surprising to see folks wanting to know more about the series itself.

Although Saitama is what initially draws everyone in, it is One Punch Man‘s quirky characters and the perfect blend of action with comedy that makes them stay. Despite — or perhaps due to it — being a satire of the shonen genre and superheroes at large, this has become one of the most popular manga and anime series in modern times. Fortunately for fans, the story shows no signs of coming to a close any time soon.

Whether you’re new to this world or have already gotten acquainted with it, though, there is always something to learn. In this case, it’s One Punch Man‘s structure, which can be helpful information to have when you feel like discussing, analysing or even rereading a particular section of the story. Like most other anime and manga series, this one is organized into arcs.

One Punch Man story arcs 2c5z10

Right now, One Punch Man is divided into four sagas, which comprise 19 arcs in the manga. Out of those, 14 have been fully adapted into anime format, while another — the Monster Association arc — only got its early stage animated in the last few episodes of season 2. Once the next season comes out, we’ll undoubtedly get into the nitty gritty of it, but in the meantime, here are all the story arcs in the One Punch Man manga and anime, listed:

Introduction Saga 61e3n

 • Saitama Introduction arc — manga chapters 1-4, episode 1
 • House of Evolution arc — manga chapters 5-11, episodes 2-3
 • Paradise Group arc — manga chapters 12-15, episode 4

Hero Association Saga u585q

 • National Superhero Registry arc — manga chapters 16-19, episodes 5-6
 • Rumored Monster arc — manga chapter 20, episode 6
 • Giant Meteor arc — manga chapters 21-22, episode 7
 • Sea Monster arc — manga chapters 23-29, episodes 8-10
 • Alien Conquerors arc — manga chapters 30-37, episodes 10-12
 • King arc — manga chapters 38-39, episode 13

Human Monster Saga 606o6g

 • Garou Introduction arc — manga chapters 40-41, episodes 13-14
 • The Blizzard Group arc — manga chapters 42-45, episodes 13-14
 • Hero Hunt arc — manga chapters 46-51, episode 15
 • Monster Raid arc — manga chapters 52-65, episodes 16-18
 • Super Fight arc — manga chapters 66-77, episodes 18-21
 • Monster Association arc — manga chapters 78-170, episodes 21-present

Neo Heroes Saga 2h6lx

 • Psychic Sisters arc — manga chapters 171-183
 • Neo Heroes Introduction arc — manga chapters 184-192
 • Cruel Dragon arc — manga chapter 193
 • Ninjas arc — manga chapters 193-present

Now that you’re aware of all the arcs in One Punch Man and know exactly where each one begins and ends, you can rewatch or reread your favorites. I’m willing to bet that you’ll love them just as much as you did the first time around.

Is there a ‘One Punch Man’ season 3 release date? 102o3m https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/anime/is-there-a-one-punch-man-season-3-release-date/ <![CDATA[Rafaela Coimbra]]> Fri, 16 Feb 2024 15:18:41 +0000 <![CDATA[Anime]]> <![CDATA[One Punch Man]]> https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1660646 <![CDATA[
We need it ASAP, so c'mon MAPPA, get to it!]]>
<![CDATA[

When asked about the strongest anime character of all time, several different ones may come to mind, but one thing is for sure: Saitama is always there. One Punch Man‘s protagonist is among the most overpowered protagonists we’ve ever seen, and he hasn’t even reached his full potential.

For two seasons, Saitama has been proving that there is merit to his workout routine, as he crushes every single villain that steps in his path. Without breaking a sweat, I must add. That said, the self-proclaimed hero hunter we got to know in season 2 has the making of a worthy opponent, although we are yet to see him at his best (or worst, depending on how you look at it). Luckily, we’ll get to see more of Garou in season 3 of One Punch Man.

Announced in August 2022, the new season is expected to continue adapting the Monster Association arc, expanding on the conflict between monsters and heroes. Of course, judging by the source material, Garou will be a key player, so fans of this character have something to look forward to. The only question that remains is when exactly season 3 is coming out.

Does One Punch Man season 3 have a release date? 5j2m10

Image via J.C.Staff Studio

For the time being, season 3 of One Punch Man doesn’t have a release date, nor a confirmed release window. This is tragic news to any fans like myself, who have been waiting for more episodes since season 2 concluded its run in January 2020. The wait has been long, but if we take a moment to think it through, it’s not too surprising, as we had to wait three years between seasons 1 and 2.

That said, it’s hard not to be worried about the lack of news. With season 3 reportedly being animated by MAPPA, One Punch Man may have fallen victim to the studio’s behind-the-scenes issues, which have also impacted anime such as Jujutsu Kaisen. Then again, spending years without any sort of update on a MAPPA project is something that fans have already gotten way too familiar with. (The studio may have forgotten about the Yuri!!! on Ice movie, but we certainly haven’t.)

Despite all that, without a cancellation announcement, at least we know that the third season of One Punch Man is still in the works, and that’s what’s truly important here. It’s just a matter of time until we see Saitama back on our screens, but in the meantime, you can catch up on the manga or rewatch the first two seasons on Hulu and Crunchyroll.

What would it take to beat the hero?]]>
<![CDATA[

We’ve all seen different power sources in anime over the years. Whether they may be devil fruits, chakra, or quirks, they’re always present in Shonen anime – but One Punch Man may just be the odd one out.

The perennial debate to determine the strongest anime character will never end, but one thing’s for certain: Saitama from One Punch Man is an undeniable frontrunner. And what, you may ask, is his power? Nothing more, nothing less than his mighty punch. His unwavering determination, coupled with his unparalleled physical prowess, has earned the Shounen protagonist the distinction of being one of – if not the – strongest characters in the entire anime realm.

Since Saitama’s introduction in 2009, everyone’s been trying to identify a worthy opponent in a one-on-one battle. You may think it’s an impossible task, but I’m here to show you that several characters could potentially outmaneuver the bald hero, even if it is through some dirty tricks.

Alluka (Hunter x Hunter) 5z585y

Alluka and Nanika from Hunter x Hunter
via Crunchyroll

Let’s start with Alluka from Hunter x Hunter. Naturally, she possesses absolutely no Nen ability, and in a one-on-one encounter, Alluka would have no chance against Saitama (though I’d argue he’d hesitate when it comes to punching a cute and innocent 13-year-old). Still, she is arguably the strongest Zoldyck, all due to her Nanika power that grants someone else any wish, as long as that person fulfills her own desires three times in a row. On the other hand, if someone were to deny her, they would simply implode into bits.

If she were ever to become involved with Saitama, it could go both ways: Either he would deny her wishes four times and not live to tell the tale, or Killua – the only one who can effectively tame and control Nanika’s power – could simply wish for Saitama’s demise. However unlikely this scenario may be, I believe that under the right circumstances, Saitama could indeed be defeated by Alluka, Nanika, and consequently, Killua.

Zeno (Dragon Ball) 1w2b3a

Zeno Dragon Ball
via Crunchyroll

Arguably, one of the few characters capable of defeating Saitama in a fight would be none other than Zeno from Dragon Ball. Throughout the course of Dragon Ball, we’ve witnessed Zeno obliterate several universes and planets in fits of anger. He’s quite literally the God of Gods in the Dragon Ball universe. Plus, given the anime’s unbelievably limitless power scale, Zeno isn’t even the sole character in the series who could potentially overpower Saitama in combat.

The debate regarding whether Goku would triumph over Saitama has also been a long-standing discussion. On the whole, he probably would. While we’ve seen Goku lose and even die in battles on several occasions, his character has consistently faced formidable foes who would undoubtedly prove stronger than Saitama as an adversary. For this reason, it’s safe to assume that Dragon Ball‘s immensely overpowering world would be evident in a confrontation with the bald hero.

Light (Death Note) 182h37

Light Yagami from 'Death Note'
Image via Madhouse Studio

Death Note is one of the anime that gets a free against Saitama, with a little trick up its sleeve. If Light were ever inclined to eliminate Saitama, they wouldn’t need to engage in a physical confrontation. Instead, all Light would have to do is write down Saitama’s name in the Death Note, ensuring his demise right from the outset. In essence, Light wouldn’t even have to risk a face-off with Saitama’s devastating punch, since a direct encounter wouldn’t be necessary.

Similarly, Ryuk, the God of Death, would also easily outmatch Saitama due to his Shinigami powers. Ryuk can manipulate death using the Death Note and steal lifespans, in addition to being immortal himself. Comparable to the situation with Alluka and Killua, this implies that Light could only beat Saitama through the utilization of the Death Note and Ryuk’s abilities.

Sugar (One Piece) 4t1p63

One Piece Sugar
via Crunchyroll

There are quite a few Devil Fruit wielders in One Piece who could undoubtedly match Saitama’s abilities (if we’re talking about a fight though, that notion can surely be argued), but Sugar is one of the characters who would likely secure an easy victory against Saitama. While a punch could undoubtedly end the confrontation, Sugar ate the Hobby Hobby fruit, which bestowed upon her the power to transform anyone into a living doll and erase their existence from everyone’s memories.

Ultimately, as long as she remains conscious, the power will continue without cessation. This implies that unless someone intervenes in her ‘fight’ with Saitama, the protagonist of One Punch Man would likely have to adapt to living as a powerless doll. He wouldn’t even be able to persuade Genos to defend him by attacking a child, since Genos wouldn’t recall his teacher’s existence. Quite the advantageous loophole.

Anos Voldigoad (The Misfit Of Demon King Academy) 46424t

The Misfit Of Demon King Academy
via Hulu

While Saitama’s determination may be strong against several types of espers and other supernatural creatures, I hardly believe that would be the case with Anos Voldigoad. The Demon King of Tyranny from The Misfit Of Demon King Academy is certainly a worthy opponent for Saitama, especially if you expect him to win. Not only is he immortal, reincarnating himself time and time again (only challenged by the destruction of the source), but a snap of his fingers is enough to completely obliterate a person, even Saitama.

In fact, one could argue that for Saitama to have a chance, he would need to get sufficiently close to land a punch on Anos. However, as we all know, that attempt would likely prove futile, merely delaying the inevitable. Considering how bizarre the world of One Punch Man truly is, Anos is one of the characters who could possibly exist in the series. He’d likely be the one antagonist capable of achieving his goals.

Giorno Giovanna (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures) 4f1l3u

Giorno Giovanna Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
via Crunchyroll

Needless to say, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is full of weird powers and hacks. After all, ‘bizarre’ is in its name. So naturally, one can easily expect a few characters whose powers and abilities are strong enough to defeat even the strongest of fighters — Saitama included. In this case, Giorno Giovanna is one of the many characters who could emerge victorious.

Utilizing the power of Gold Experience Requiem, the protagonist from part five would undeniably be able to triumph over Saitama by reverting any and every one of Saitama’s actions, nullifying them. Therefore, if Saitama were to ever attempt to punch Giorno, his ive ability would activate and completely nullify the action. At worst, it would result in a never-ending battle, with neither one being able to defeat the other.

Gojo (Jujutsu Kaisen) 2k6c1g

Satoru Gojo from 'Jujutsu Kaisen'
Image via MAPPA

Another character who could at least evade Saitama’s power is Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen. Before anyone comes for me, yes — Gojo would technically stand no chance against Saitama’s punch. However, considering the power core in Jujutsu Kaisen is based on cursed energy and cursed spirits, Gojo would undoubtedly have the upper hand in a non-physical fight with Saitama.

To begin with, the bald hero wouldn’t even come close to Gojo due to his unlimited void expansion technique. In the end, the one move that would potentially give Saitama an advantage would inevitably be rendered null. While Saitama would still be extremely quick on his feet, we’ve all seen how Gojo remains unaffected by his opponent’s speed. Although Saitama’s determination might prevent him from feeling overwhelmed inside the limitless void, he would likely lose some sense of reality, resulting in a loss against Gojo.

Rimuru Tempest (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) 2e21k

Rimuru Tempest in That Time I Got Reincaranted as a slime
via Crunchyroll

Rimuru Tempest also possesses a sort of cheat code when it comes to fighting, which could easily overthrow Saitama: the ability to stop time. Now, there are plenty of anime characters who can essentially halt time itself (and a few more who can still win regardless, such as Giorno Giovanna), and while there has been discussion about whether or not Saitama could evade time stopping, nothing has ever been confirmed.

Assuming he wouldn’t be able to escape having his surroundings — and consequently himself — frozen in time, Saitama wouldn’t ever be able to elude Rimuru’s grasp. In addition to this ability, the Demon Slime also possesses the capacity to regenerate after an attack, even against something as brutal as Saitama’s assault. So, for the sake of this article, let’s assume Saitama wouldn’t be able to move even with time stopped — although his gag-character privileges might persevere after they both exhaust each other.

Aizen (Bleach) m4y57

Aizen Bleach
via Hulu

Similar to Dragon Ball or Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Bleach is another anime rich with a multitude of extraordinary abilities that allow us to identify several characters who could potentially overcome Saitama, whether in battle or through other means. While a prevalent fan theory suggests that Baraggan Louisenbairn is the top contender for a character capable of defeating Saitama, I am actually here making the case for Aizen.

The former captain of the 5th division would undoubtedly have the upper hand in a battle against Saitama with his Complete Hypnosis ability. Though it’s uncertain whether hypnosis would affect Saitama, this particular power manipulates an opponent’s five senses, causing them to lose touch with reality and misinterpret their surroundings. While the person grapples with the overwhelming flood of sensory input, Aizen could deliver a fatal blow. Additionally, he possesses a form of semi-immortality, adding another layer to his power.

Saiki Kusuo (The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.) 4563h

via Crunchyroll

There has long been a prevailing belief within anime circles that Saiki K. would undoubtedly emerge victorious against Saitama, and for once, I find myself inclined to agree. Saiki possesses the ability to leap through time, allowing him to eliminate Saitama as a baby or even prevent his parents from conceiving him, making it a decidedly uneven fight.

Moreover, in a physical altercation, several of Saiki K.’s other abilities could certainly aid him and potentially overcome Saitama. Using teleportation or even turning Saitama into stone are also viable options. While both Saiki and Saitama were conceived as gag characters intended to be ridiculously powerful, it is fair to say that Saiki’s power is uniquely eccentric, tipping the balance in a way that could ultimately overpower Saitama.

Simon (Gurren Lagann) 3i283p

Simon protecting another character from Gurren Lagann
via Crunchyroll

Some anime have downright ridiculous power cores, and Gurren Lagann is one of them. While it might be a story many of us haven’t watched, we’ve surely heard about it at some point. Possibly because they throw galaxies at each other — no, I’m not joking. Simon can actually throw galaxies at his opponents.

Naturally, as strong as Saitama may be, he’d have a hard time fighting someone who can summon a robot as big as the observable universe. You could argue that in the One Punch Man world, Saitama could punch his way through a fight, but in this particular instance, he wouldn’t have time to even react to Simon and how stupidly overpowered he is.

While Sailor Moon is unmistakably labeled as a Shoujo anime and story, there’s no denying that Usagi Tsukino could effortlessly take down most Shounen protagonists with a single shot, and I’ll firmly stand by that. In the ongoing debate of whether she could outmatch Goku, the consensus often leans in her favor, making it reasonable to assume a similar outcome against Saitama.

Talking raw strength, Saitama’s might is hard to dispute. However, Usagi brings a lot more to the table. Her powers stem from the silver crystal, a force potent enough to trump Saitama. What’s more, it grants her the automatic ability to defend against any attack and even death. With immeasurable and unlimited energy, the silver crystal places the entire universe under Usagi’s command. She’s practically indestructible and invincible, armed with limitless power – the winner is as clear as day.

Arale (Dr.Slump) 1d134k

If we’re considering Dragon Ball characters, it’s only fair to add in Arale from Dr. Slump, also created by Akira Toriyama. Much like Saitama, she’s a gag character, and as we all know, Toriyama has a penchant for creating absurdly overpowered universes and characters. This means that while Saitama is undeniably powerful, he’s not invincible – and that’s where Arale steps in.

Picture this: Saitama throws a punch at her, maybe feels a pang of guilt about hitting a kid, only to see Arale pop her head back into place, and just like that, the fight continues until she wins. After all, we’ve seen Arale effortlessly take down Dragon Ball Super Vegeta and keep pace with Super Saiyan Blue Goku, using just 1 percent of her power to match his Kamehameha – in the end, Saitama would pose no threat to her whatsoever.

Can this debate ever be settled?]]>
<![CDATA[

When it comes to incredibly strong anime protagonists, no two heroes are mentioned more than One-Punch Man’s Saitama and Dragon Ball’s Goku. The two have a lot in common: incredible physical strength, a natural predisposition toward developing said strength, and a seemingly insatiable need to find an opponent worthy of facing them in combat. It’s a natural progression to then wonder who would come out on top if the two were ever to battle each other.

It’s also a topic that generates a ton of debate online; most die-hard fans can agree that both Saitama and Goku are some of, if not THE strongest characters in anime, but when it comes to who would best the other in combat, all bets are off. It’s undeniable both are incredibly strong, or this debate topic wouldn’t be so popular, but here’s my take on who would win between the two. DISCLAIMER: this article is solely my opinion, and I am not the definitive resource on either Saitama or Goku. Without further ado, on to the article!

One Punch Man’s Saitama 2ec4m

Image via Crunchyroll

As the name of his anime implies, Saitama’s whole thing is that he can generally defeat any and all opponents with just one punch. Before deciding to become a hero as a hobby, Saitama was an ordinary convenience store clerk/office worker who had grown bored with his mundane life, but now, thanks to his incredible strength, he has grown bored with being a superhero.

Saitama is gifted with increased superhuman strength, super speed, fast reaction time, enhanced senses, and invulnerability. Thanks to an “intense” training regimen — 100 pushups, 100 situps, 100 squats, and a 10km run — Saitama followed every day for three years, he has developed god-like strength. The stress of this routine leads him to lose all of his hair, while granting him the power to defeat most enemies with one punch.

While Saitama has no trouble with most enemies, his biggest obstacle is the existential crisis he finds himself in due to his unparalleled strength. He originally became a hero for fun and profit, but he no longer finds joy in fighting as he defeats all enemies without breaking a sweat. He continues to search for an enemy that will actually prove to be a challenge and force him to take a battle seriously. Even when an opponent is strong enough to require more than one punch, it usually takes only one of Saitama’s special “Serious” punches to do the trick — his “Serious” sneeze during his fight with Garou was enough to blow all the gas surrounding Jupiter’s core away.

Dragon Ball’s Goku 5j29o

Goku hails from a long line of alien warriors and has the supernatural abilities that come with that, like being able to fly, having super speed and reaction time, as well as being able to use Ki energy in powerful blast attacks. Unlike Saitama, who’s just a regular human with seemingly only one base form, Goku develops the ability to go Super Saiyan, powering up his abilities. Throughout the franchise, Goku continues to gain new Super Saiyan forms, which enable him to constantly improve his skills and defeat increasingly stronger enemies.

In addition to his natural skills and techniques like Kamehameha and Ultra Instinct, Goku also trains hard. He is a skilled martial artist who is obsessed with improving himself; I joked earlier about Saitama’s “intense” training routine, but Goku actually trains like a superhuman, famously using a gravity machine set to over 100 times Earth’s gravity to improve his physicality. Goku’s Saiyan heritage combined with his indomitable will helps him achieve nearly god-like abilities and defeat cosmic entities.

Like Saitama, Goku is always looking for an opponent who can challenge him, but unlike Saitama who is generally more lazy than not, Goku will actively search for opportunities to better himself. Goku will constantly challenge anyone (including his own children) to a fight and is always on the lookout for a new obstacle to overcome.

Would Goku or Saitama win in a fight? h3s18

Image via Crunchyroll

In the unlikely event that an all-out anime character brawl were to happen, it seems Goku would win on paper. Goku not only has the natural strength of being a Saiyan, but is also constantly shown to strive toward becoming even stronger, making battling strangers his hobby. Meanwhile, Saitama has stuck to his daily fitness regimen for over three years without making any adjustments, and regularly plays video games, reads manga, and naps in his downtime.

With that said, there are a couple of things that tip the odds in Saitama’s favor; the first being that Goku takes no joy in defeating an opponent unless they’re at peak physical form. If his enemy isn’t going all out, Goku’s not interested. Saitama has arguably never needed to push himself in battle and has proven to be incredibly strong. What would happen if he actually put in half of the effort Goku does? A Saitama at his peak potential would be a formidable sight indeed, and could potentially best Goku.

Saitama’s potential, while intriguing, isn’t enough to declare him the winner in this battle. The second thing that helps him edge out Goku, is the nature of his series. One-Punch Man is, at its core, a parody of shonen anime; while the world Saitama lives in is actually pretty serious, the hero is not. The whole series hinges on examining and deconstructing shonen tropes and that includes things like power scaling. Saitama’s powers are supposed to be ridiculous; we’re shown time and time again that he can go up against superpowered villains and decimate them for no reason other than he was going to miss the sale at his local supermarket. The real question is not “can Saitama beat Goku,” but “would it be funny if Saitama beats Goku.”

In the end, it’s impossible to declare a true winner. If we’re looking at power alone, Goku would beat Saitama. If we’re looking at narrative intent, Saitama would beat Goku simply because it seems preposterous that he could do so. Because of that ambiguity, this question will likely continue to spark heated debate in online forums for eternity.

You can now have Saitama in your pocket with this new world exploring game. ]]>
<![CDATA[

Crunchyroll has just dropped the teaser for the RPG game, which allows players to become different heroes as they play through the world of One Punch Man, and it isn’t the third season that most fans have been wanting for years, but it’s something.

This is one of the most ambitious games to date from Crunchyroll, One Punch Man: World will serve as a free-to-play multiplayer action game developed by Perfect World Games, the company behind Tower of Fantasy and Persona 5 spin-off The Phantom X, and available for PC, iOS, and Android.

Fans can enter the world of Saitama and the Hero Association as they struggle to deal with the rise of monsters. An official announcement trailer was ed today showing gamers what they could potentially expect from the gameplay, ranging from monster battles to helping older women in arcades.

Many of the scenes from the trailer depict battles taken directly from the anime’s first season, such as Carnage Kabuto and Mosquito Girl; it also looks as if you can team up with other heroes to help take down these monsters. Along with fighting, it seems like you can take the time to explore Z-City as a hero, go for a run, or even simply catch the bus.

You can play as several heroes, including Atomic Samurai, Speed-O-Sonic, Lightning Max, Genos, and of course, the overpowered man himself, Saitama. The website allows players to look at what kind of moves they can perform during the game with each hero. There are plenty of ways to rank up throughout the game, such as fighting major battles taken from the anime’s first season but also through side quests littered throughout the city.

Of the game, Crunchyroll Games general manager Terry Li says:

“The most ambitious Crunchyroll Games title to date, One Punch Man: World is an immersive online action game that transports players into the universe of One-Punch Man. The game, developed by Perfect World, brings iconic characters and abilities to life with premiere production values that we are excited to unleash on anime fans and gamers.”

The release of this One Punch Man game excites us for the anime’s third season, which was announced in August of last year. Currently, though, the release date for said season is unknown.

Pre-registration is available on the website, with the free-to-play game expected to launch sometime this year.

Disney continues to give the people exactly what they don't want.]]>
<![CDATA[

It’s certainly no secret that Disney has noticeably struggled as of late to perform exceptionally at the box office and keep a momentous amount of hype attached to its newest projects. As a result, the Mouse House has purposely clogged up its entire schedule — which now consists of 14 live-action remakes that we simply didn’t ask for. Of course, Disney is set to unveil these projects anyway, but it doesn’t mean we can’t clearly see that originality is dead and buried.

Over on Twitter, an official lineup of Disney’s live-action remakes was listed — with the entire lineup consisting of 14 projects that the majority of folks truly didn’t ask for. But with original content such as Elemental bombing at the box office recently, it hardly comes as a major surprise that Disney is attempting to play clean-up by touching old roots and focusing on recreating popular flicks.

Then again, a handful of movies on the list have managed to draw some eyes and attract a fair amount of attention — which would be the One Punch Man and Death Note live-action remakes. So while most folks aren’t thrilled with Disney hammering home ideas that have already been done in an attempt to create a bigger crash grab, it’s evident that some films on the list will be added to a portion of watchlists out there.

But with the live-action Moana feeling pointless and a boatload of controversy once surrounding the Lilo & Stitch remake, it’s possible that Disney jumped the gun a little bit and lost focus on creating original pieces that will soon become cult classics if given some extra time and consideration. That being said, we’ll all simply have to sit back and see how well these 14 remakes are received.

A debate that will likely never end is ‘if X character got in a fight with Y, who would win?’ Since the advent of manga and comic books, there’s been many a heated discussion both in comic book stores and on the internet on such matters – and any soul brave enough to try and offer up a definitive ranking of the strength of all of the world’s most popular anime characters is sure to end up getting flamed.

However, sure enough, AnimeSenpai gave it a crack anyway – coming up with their list and sharing it to Twitter, with One Punch Man’s Saitama crowned as the most powerful of them all. As expected, things kicked off quite quickly in response. Here’s the publication’s top ten:

There was a lot of contention about the ranking. With Dragon Ball in its various iterations being one of the most popular animes in the west, Goku ers were naturally crawling out of the woodworks to leap to the defense of everyone’s favorite Saiyan, as well as questioning the position of Zeno Sama:

Another particularly contentious appearance in the top ten was Attack on Titan’s Captain Levi Ackermann. While the famed de facto leader of the Scout Regiment is very much a badass in his own right, the popular opinion seems to be that he doesn’t hold a candle to some of the other characters he stands shoulder-to-shoulder with in the upper echelon:

https://twitter.com/ComicalBahamut/status/1651065658212270084?s=20

Then there was the issue of One Piece’s Luffy – who didn’t even manage to crack the top ten. You’ll bet folks were making themselves heard:

The debate continues to rage over on Twitter, if you’re interested in chiming in yourself and leaping to the defense of your favorite character. In the meantime, the English dub of a One Piece and Dragon Ball crossover has finally landed, here’s everything you need to know about it, and how you can watch it.

Things got a little bit scandalous on the anime front today, while Chainsaw Man manga sales surged and new projects were unveiled.]]>
<![CDATA[

A lot of the time, anime owes the vast majority of its success to the manga source material, but the script has been somewhat flipped today with a popular anime series leading to rocketing sales for the manga it adapted.

If you’re a fan of One Punch Man, you may be interested in hearing about the new series that its artist ONE has been working on. Finally, if a little bit of scandal is up your alley, you may want to hear about the decade-long affair that the voice actor for some VERY well known anime series has been embroiled in. Read on for all the latest goings on in the anime world.

Chainsaw Man manga sales surge after the anime’s launch 5b3t25

In the roughly three week time period since the Chainsaw Man anime kicked off, sales for its source material manga have absolutely kicked off, with the latest numbers per Crunchyroll sitting at 18 million copies across both physical and digital mediums.

Contrast this to the most recent number of 16 million, last reported three weeks ago around the time the anime launched, two million copies have since entered circulation as the adventures of Denji in the anime medium has gotten fans eager to read ahead and find out next. At this rate it won’t be long at all before the Chainsaw Man manga clears two million.

If you’re thinking about checking the anime out to see what all the fuss is about and you’re not much of a comic book reader, the series is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.

The artist behind One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100 took to Twitter to share their first peek at the new series they’re working on, titled Versus.

A brief premise for Versus has been shared, which is going to depict a tournament set up by a Demon Lord which pits 47 heroes against 47 demons according to Comic Book. Sounds pretty rad, if we do say so ourselves.

If the manga and anime community’s love for One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100 is any indicator of ONE’s quality of work, keep your eyes peeled for this one – it’s sure to be a hit.

Takahiro Sakurai, decorated Japanese voice actor and radio personality has itted to being involved in a decade-long affair, after only recently disclosing that he was married to a former voice actress for the last twenty years.

Sakurai was dating a woman referred to as ‘A-ko’, who was working on the actor’s radio program the entire time. A-ko was reportedly hospitalized as a result of shock upon hearing the news.

Sakurai has a pretty decorated resume when it comes to the character’s he’s lent his voice to, which includes Cloud Strife from projects as far back as Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, mind you.

With that many high-profile roles under his belt, it’ll be interesting to see how this affects Sakurai’s standing and future potential roles, including his involvement in the globally anticipated Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth.

The popular manga is headed to the big screen.]]>
<![CDATA[

Longtime Fast and the Furious director Justin Lin made headlines earlier this year when he chose to leave the franchise’s latest project Fast X. Despite this move, the director already has his next film set, and it turns out it will be an adaption of one of today’s most popular anime series.

According to a report by Deadline, Justin Lin will be directing a live-action One Punch Man film for Sony Pictures.

Alongside Lin on the project will be writers Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, who will write the film adaption of the manga hit by the mangaka ONE. The pair have worked together previously on projects including Venom and Jumanji: The Next Level.

There are even more Marvel connections as Avi Arad and Ari Arad are keyed to produce the film. The Arad Productions company previously worked on Spider-Man, Iron Man, X-Men, and Venom.

The report says that Lin will be working as a producer alongside the writers with the intention of rewriting things and getting into the production phase before the end of the year.

One Punch Man is one of the most popular anime series of the last decade. First debuting in 2009 as a webcomic, ONE’s creation has since blown up in popularity thanks to the anime adaption that began airing in 2015.

Lin announced that he would be stepping down as director of Fast X in late April. This took place less than a week after production for the film began; however, he does still remain a part of the project as a producer.

<![CDATA[

The streaming services continue their ceaseless rollout of new content, and several fresh titles are debuting this weekend. First up, arriving on HBO Max is The King of Staten Island, a semi-autobiographical comedy drama partly inspired by the life of its star, comedian and SNL alum Pete Davidson. A waster high school dropout still living with his mother dreams of becoming a tattoo artist, but is stifled by his medical and mental health issues, which are only compounded when his mom begins dating a new man who’s a firefighter like his deceased father. Also on HBO Max is season 2 of The Alienist, subtitled Angel of Darkness after the novel on which it’s based, seeing the return of its ad hoc team of investigators, this time looking into the brutal deaths of young children that may be the work of a serial killer, while digging into familiar themes of societal status, police corruption and political ambition. Hulu, meanwhile, brings us the English dub of season 2 of One Punch Man, a satirical anime series where preposterously overpowered superheroes battle similarly overwhelming villains, while the titular unassuming hero who may be the greatest of them all still struggles to attain recognition for anything he does. Spring Breakers Elsewhere, Netflix has Spring Breakers, following a quartet of college girls visiting Florida for drugs, sex and alcohol-fuelled partying, and after being arrested are bailed out by a lowlife drug dealer whose sleazy charisma pulls them further into a world of violence equal parts dangerous and exciting. Also coming to HBO Max is season 2 of comedy series Miracle Workers, where its returning cast are this time medieval peasants trying to not get murdered by the tyrannical monarch who rules over them, the first half of season 4 of the original incarnation of Ben 10, chronicling the further adventures of the shapeshifting hero and his family as they defend Earth from dangers both extraterrestrial and native, and Tiger, a two-part documentary about golf legend Tiger Woods, charting his early successes and rise to fame, struggle with injuries and infidelity, fall from grace and eventual comeback.
