This article contains mild spoilers for Only Murders in the Building season four.

Only Murders in the Building ended its fourth season in typical spectacular fashion, with the trio Oliver, Charles, and Mabel – played by Martin Short, Steve Martin, and Selena Gomez – successfully solving the mystery of Sazz’s murder, and even a romantic happy ending – on-screen and off, for Oliver and his love Loretta (played by Meryl Streep).

However, in typical Only Murders fashion, not everything wraps up quite as neatly as it initially appears, with a mysterious cliffhanger before the final credits implying there will still be another case to solve (no major spoilers from us, folks). So, is the Emmy-winning, critical darling mystery series returning, or like the characters in the series, are we facing an unfortunate, violent end?

Is there a fifth season of Only Murders in the Building in the works?

Co-stars Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Martin took to Instagram to update fans about the future of the series in a special video on September 4th, just a few episodes into the most recent series.

“We have a very special announcement!” Gomez teased. Short ed in on the genre-appropriate tease, adding, “It involves…….”

“We are coming back for a season five!” exclaimed Steve, with his co-stars rejoicing alongside him.

That’s as official a confirmation as you can get — the cast and crew have announced a new season is coming via a t statement via the verified Only Murders in the Building and Hulu Instagram s.

The trio, however, didn’t offer much insight into when we can expect season five …yet, continuing to tease its fans.

“So when would that be on, 2025">began in March and ended in June of this year. Given the August 2024 premiere for the current season, this would likely happen again if the reports of a summer 2025 release are in fact true.

What is Selena Gomez’s net worth in 2024? https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/what-is-selena-gomezs-net-worth-in-2023/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/what-is-selena-gomezs-net-worth-in-2023/#respond Mon, 09 Sep 2024 10:02:43 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1542674 Selena might be one of the richest musicians now.]]>

Selena Gomez is one of the most loved pop culture icons of the modern era, the most followed woman on Instagram, and she’s now again in everyone’s sights. Only Murders in the Building hit Hulu on Aug. 27, premiering its much-awaited fourth season. Just days later the season 4 premiere on Aug. 27, the comedy-drama starring Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short, was renewed for a fifth season.

Amidst all the chit-chat, the singer, businesswoman, producer, and actor had her net worth updated for 2024. The 32-year-old kicked off her career at age seven as a child actor on the Disney Channel, but while her various acting projects and eventual shift to singing brought her to prominence in media, that didn’t put her in contention for the billionaires club. Now things are different.

Owing mostly to her beauty brand Rare Beauty and her venture into a producing career while also pursuing acting full-time again, Selena Gomez has seen a huge hike in her wealth from last year. Has she finally entered billionaire territory?

How much is Selena Gomez worth in 2024?

Selena Gomez was officially in line to enter the billionaire celebrity club after climbing to a $800 million net worth last year. The sudden rise came after her 4-year-old makeup brand Rare Beauty reportedly generated at least $300 million in 2023, a $200 million increase from a year before. Rare Beauty roped another $400 million in net sales between February 2023 and 2024. Following this, Selena Gomez officially recorded a net worth of $1.3 billion in Sept. 2024.

The profits from her makeup brand make up most of the singer’s net worth as she holds a 51% majority interest in the company, which she’s kept largely independent thus far. Gomez’s increased wealth can also be linked to her unmatched social media following, which makes her one of the most sought-after influencers. She currently has more than 58 million followers on TikTok, 424 million followers on Instagram, and more than 34 million subscribers on YouTube.

Gomez has been known to earn anywhere from $500,000 to $800,000 for a single sponsored post on Instagram. She has cashed in big money into her bank from endorsement agreements with companies like Puma, Coach, and Louis Vuitton. And, for Only Murders in the Building, Gomez is getting paid at least $6 million per season, with additional profits from her producer role.

Selena is also co-founder of the mental health startup Wondermind and became an owner and investor of the ice cream brand Serendipity in 2020. And the list of Selena’s income sources doesn’t stop here. Our favorite businesswoman is also enjoying huge profits in real estate. Although music tours only ed for less than 5% of Gomez’s wealth, with album and record sales less than 2%, Gomez will also soon release a new album, which she teased last year.

With her updated net worth, Selena Gomez has become one of the few musicians to the billionaire club. In July, Bruce Springsteen, popularly known as “The Boss” officially hit $1.1 billion net worth, ing other musicians like Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and Jay-Z in billionaire territory.

‘Greatest minds of all time’: 2 musical prodigies who helped Hugh Jackman become a 4-time Golden Globe nominee just became EGOTs https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/greatest-minds-of-all-time-2-musical-prodigies-who-helped-hugh-jackman-become-a-4-time-golden-globe-nominee-just-became-egots/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/greatest-minds-of-all-time-2-musical-prodigies-who-helped-hugh-jackman-become-a-4-time-golden-globe-nominee-just-became-egots/#respond Mon, 09 Sep 2024 09:26:31 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1750503 The duo have collected trophies for 'La La Land' and 'Dear Evan Hansen'. ]]>

The EGOT club just welcomed two new , whose work in previous films and television shows has contributed to fellow nominations for the likes of Hugh Jackman

Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the songwriting duo known as Pasek and Paul, became the 20th and 21st person to win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony, picking up the first award for their work on the crime dramedy series, Only Murders in the Building

Pasek and Paul collected the Creative Arts Emmy Award for best original music and lyrics for “Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?”, which featured in an episode of the Selena Gomez-starring series and beat out fellow songs from shows like Girls5eva, Saturday Night Live, The Tattooist of Auschwitz and True Detective: Night Country.

While, for those more phonetically inclined, it might’ve been nice for the pair to collect the EGOT in order (call me meticulous), Pasek and Paul’s road to achieving the feat wasn’t linear. The duo previously won in the best song category at the Academy Awards for the La La Land song “City of Stars”, and before that took home the win for best musical theatre album with Dear Evan Hansen at the Grammys.

The latter musical also saw the pair round out the EGOT feat with a Tony for best original score. “Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?” was co-written by EGT winner (doesn’t quite have the same ring to it) Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, both of whom were thanked during Pasek and Paul Emmys acceptance speech.

“It’s obviously thrilling and very wild to think about getting to do it alongside two of our heroes who gave us our very first job in television,” Paul said. For their part, some fans reacted to the win by describing Pail and Pasek as the “Greatest minds of all time.”

The genius of Pasek and Paul has coincidentally contributed to award wins and nominations for their collaborators. The duo penned the 2017 movie musical The Greatest Showman, which saw star Jackman receive one of his four nominations at the Golden Globes. While he ultimately lost out that year to James Franco, he did previously win the best actor gong for fellow musical Les Misérables in 2012.

That means Jackman is just one award shy of being an EGOT winner, having received everything but the Oscar award (did you catch that, Academy?).

Before Paul and Pasek, the most recent EGOT winner was Sir Elton John, who reached the feat with his Emmy win earlier this year. Other famous names who have ed the coveted EGOT club include Viola Davis, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, and Whoopi Goldberg.

In any case, perhaps the EGOT title should be reworked, as the acronym more sounds like a bacteria formed in old milk than it does a coveted accolade counter. Then again, GOTE doesn’t quite roll off the tongue, either.

While I’m still hoping that stars Martin Short and Meryl Streep could be a couple, I’m also excited about the Only Murders in the Building season 4 premiere. But there’s a major change in these new episodes, and it’s got more than a few OMitB fans upset.

After the wild season 3 finale, I couldn’t wait to see more of Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez), Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), and Oliver Putnam (Short). The Hulu comedy dream team is solving yet another crime… but this time, as nomads. Well, kinda.

What is the concerning Only Murders in the Building season 4 change?

'Onlu Murders in the Building'
Image via Hulu

While I would watch Short and Martin in literally anything (and can’t be the only one), I’m not a huge fan of the big change made in Only Murders in the Building season 4: its relocation to Hollywood. Charles, Mabel, and Oliver’s podcast is being made into a movie, and they’re stepping out of the Arconia and spending some of the season in Los Angeles. According to a thread in the Only Murders SubReddit, many fans aren’t on board with this shift in setting.

Redditor @professorfunkenpunk wrote, “That’s a bummer because The Arconia building is “a character,” and several viewers thought the same thing. Redditor @unclefalter thinks “this will be their jump the shark moment.” @bminutes articulated the main problem perfectly: the new season “Doesn’t take place in the building.” And @apatheticwizardsfans made me laugh when they commented, “It just makes too much sense to put them in a place people don’t want them to be.”

While I can’t complain about watching Zach Galifianakis, Kumail Nanjiani, Eugene Levy, or Eva Longoria, as this is an embarrassment of TV riches, I do worry about watching most of a season that takes place in Hollywood. When movies or TV shows depict the behind-the-scenes of filmmaking or TV production, it can come off as cheesy rather than clever. Scream 3 is the least popular movie in the horror franchise for this reason, and the short-lived Hulu sitcom Reboot was a total disappointment. Reboot is a crash course in how not even an all-star cast (in this case, Keegan Michael-Key, Paul Reiser, Rachel Bloom, and Judy Greer) can save a corny concept and jokes that don’t land.

Image via Hulu

When I think about how Only Murders in the Building can continue, I’m torn between understanding the need to shake things up, and a desire for the setting to remain the same. It’s so much fun watching the three main characters solve murders where they live, since no one would expect so many deaths to happen in a beautiful and famous old New York City property. As they say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! Oliver’s (over-the-top) love of dips, Charles reconnecting with his sweet daughter, and Mabel’s romantic life are all compelling enough. No episodes need to take place outside of NYC, as far as I’m concerned, and it seems like a lot of other fans feel the same way.

While I might be apprehensive about the rest of Only Murders in the Building season 4, the first episode does achieve its goal of showcasing the sweet dynamic between Mabel, Oliver, and Charles. Arconia or no Arconia, maybe the friends we made along the way is what we’re all here for, anyway.

Are Meryl Streep and Martin Short dating? https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/news/are-meryl-streep-and-martin-short-dating/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/news/are-meryl-streep-and-martin-short-dating/#respond Tue, 26 Mar 2024 18:39:47 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1676005 We heart… Martyl? Mertin? Anyway, are these two acclaimed thespians an item?]]>

Meryl Streep is one of the most beloved actresses of our time, with throngs of fans and a devoted following. Yet with so many eyes on her, we wanted to know, who exactly does she have eyes for, and could it be Martin Short?

Meryl Streep stole our hearts all the way back in 1977 with her debut acting role in Julia. After that, she secured several more life-changing and award-winning performances beginning with 1978’s The Deer Hunter, which won her first (of many) Oscar nominations. It wasn’t long until she became one of the most recognized and awarded actresses of our time. Witty, beautiful, and talented, it’s no wonder throngs of fans and more than one celebrity continue to compete for her attention. Yet we wanted to know who she might favor among them? Is there someone special in her life, and if so who is it? There have been various theories about it being Martin Short, and we decided to dig deep to find out if the rumors are true or just Hollywood acting.

Meryl Streep’s love life

Meryl Streep has had romances written in the Hollywood stars. She first dated her Deer Hunter costar John Cazale before he ed away from lung cancer in March 1978. She then married sculptor Don Gummer in September of that year and has been with him ever since — or so we all thought.

Despite the Streep-Gummer marriage lasting practically a lifetime by Hollywood standards, Streep keeps details about her relationship very hush-hush. She rarely discusses it, although in an interview with Vogue in 2002, she made a disclosure saying the secret to her happy marriage was “Goodwill and willingness to bend—and to shut up every once in a while.”

She has also explained in other interviews that Gummer didn’t mind taking on some of the childcare responsibilities so that she could continue to work and have peace of mind while doing so. She even thanked Gummer in her 2012 Oscar speech. Her emotional tribute stated, “First, I’m going to thank Don because when you thank your husband at the end of the speech, they play them out with the music and I want him to know that everything I value most in our lives, you’ve given me.”

After 45 years of marriage and four children together, it seemed like the marriage would go the distance. Yet in 2023 Streep made a shocking announcement to People when she revealed she and her husband had become estranged — six years prior! Streep kept details of her marriage and her separation very quiet, yet when the truth was revealed and the shock had ed fans had one final question. So — is she seeing anyone?

Are Meryl Streep and Martin Short dating?

Meryl Streep and her Murders In the Building costar Martin Short were seen together looking pretty cozy at their shared table at the Golden Globes. Immediately rumors began to fly. Short’s representatives were quick to respond, explaining to People, that while the dynamic duo grew close playing across each other on the Hulu hit, they “are just very good friends, nothing more.”

Bummer. Just when we thought we might be on to something.

Martin Short is another Hollywood success story with a career nearly as long as Meryl’s. He is well known for his role as the loveable but eccentric Frankc Eggelhoffer, starring across from Steven Martin in both Father Of The Bride and Father Of The Bride II. The role actually raised some questions about Martin Short’s sexuality, but it seems Short may have just played that role to perfection. He was married to Nancy Dolman for 30 years before her unfortunate ing in 2010, with no sign of relationship issues. He has never released any information to the contrary. Regardless, it is clear from Short’s representative statements, that he is not with Streep, the two are just friendly costars.

While it does leave fans questioning if there could be someone else, it is possible that with a world-renowned acting career, a busy life as a mother and grandmother, and just coming out of a 45-year marriage, that Streep isn’t even looking for love. Perhaps the actress is focusing on her other roles in life and putting the gig of “relationship partner” on the back burner for a while.

Exactly who is next to win the beloved actress’s affections is anyone’s guess. Although with Streep’s history of keeping her relationship cards close to her vest, we may not even know anything about it, until the relationship is well established — or maybe even already ended! Rumors will always follow big names in Hollywood, yet Streep has proven she is very adept at dispelling them, and we can safely put the Martin Short relationship rumor to bed. Nothing here to see folks — sorry.

Who is Golden Globe winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph and what other movies and shows have I seen her in? https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/who-is-golden-globe-winner-davine-joy-randolph-and-what-other-movies-and-shows-have-i-seen-her-in/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/celebrities/who-is-golden-globe-winner-davine-joy-randolph-and-what-other-movies-and-shows-have-i-seen-her-in/#respond Mon, 08 Jan 2024 14:19:58 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1645380 Hopefully soon to be Oscar-winner Da'Vine Joy Randolph.]]>

What a year Da’Vine Joy Randolph has had. From her Award-winning turn in the acclaimed Holiday drama The Holdovers and her take on gospel legend Mahalia Jackson in Rustin, to a stint in Only Murders in the Building and being one of the saving graces of Sam Levinson’s disastrous The Idol, Randolph’s tremendous hard work has paid off with a Golden Globe and soon, possibly, an Oscar.

The 37-year-old actress is now safely leading the Best ing Actress race for her role in Alexander Payne’s The Holdovers, which will undeniably give her late-blooming career the push it deserves. Randolph plays boarding school cafeteria Mary Lamb, one of the eponymous “Holdovers” who’s staying behind for the holidays after the painful death of her son in the Vietnam War. Critics have praised her ability to take a cliché character to new, surprising depths, and steal every scene she’s in.

What was Da’Vine Joy Randolph doing before The Holdovers?

Da’Vine Joy Randolph’s career began in musical theater. She majored in that same subject from her hometown of Phyladelphia’s Temple University, before attending Yale School of Drama for her master’s degree. A year later she was playing Oda Mae Brown in Ghost: the Musical on Broadway, her first job ever which she described as a “roller coaster plunging down,” and which landed her a nomination for a Tony.

An auspicious start that would lead to several different roles in distinct mediums and genres, including the ABC sit-com Selfie, where she played the leads’ co-worker Charmonique, a voice-acting gig in Netflix’s The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show, Empire (acting alongside Taraji P. Henson as her prison inmate Poundcake), and playing an alien-abductee in the 2016 sci-fi series People of Earth. Between those were several small parts in films, including The Angriest Man in Brooklyn, and Office Christmas Party, as well as continuous stage work.

Randolph’s big break, however, came with 2019’s Dolemite Is My Name where she reunited with Empire director Craig Brewer. She shone opposite Eddie Murphy as Dolemite’s legendary scene partner Lady Reed/Queen B, after which she continued to work tirelessly, making eleven movies and eleven television shows since.

It’s no wonder hers is a familiar face. Apart from her more recent performances, in the last four years, Da’Vine Joy Randolph had ing roles in On Becoming a God in Central Florida, Kajillionaire, The Last Shift, High Fidelity, The United States vs. Billie Holiday, The Last O.G., The Lost City, and On the Come Up.

Randolph’s voice is no less recognizable. You’ve probably heard her in a couple of Trolls movies, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, adult animated shows like Chicago Party Aunt, Tuca & Bertie, or Fairfax, and even as the CHP Dispatcher to Jake Gyllenhaal’s 911 operator on Netflix’s The Guilty.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that The Holdovers and the critical acclaim Da’Vine Joy Randolph has received from it have been a long time coming. The actress has truly put in the work and it’s great to see that it’s finally bearing fruit.

Every year when summer comes to an end, fall brings with it a slew of new holidays in addition to cozy sweaters and plenty of strangely flavored beverages. If you’re looking for some TV to get you into the spirit of the fall season, then we’ve got you covered.

We’ve broken down fourteen of the best episodes and shows (seven of each) to watch as you’re getting ready for sweater weather. These are the shows that will make you feel like fall has finally arrived, whether you want something comforting or a little more unnerving to beckon you further into spooky season.

Only Murders in the Building

Wrapped in fall vibes, with a New York twist, Only Murders in the Building follows three aspiring podcasters who live in a New York apartment building and decide to investigate the death of a fellow tenant.

The series is a comedy with true crime trappings, but it’s also filled to the brim with great coats and sweaters. You’re not likely to find a cozier, more endearing show to put on on a brisk but refreshing fall evening.

Friends season 3, episode 9: “The One With the Football”

Friends was famous for its football episodes, and “The One With the Football” may be the cream of the crop. The episode’s centerpiece is a football game that renews an old sibling rivalry between Monica and Ross, and leaves the rest of the central friends completely baffled.

The episode is hilarious, at least if you can get past the obviously strange childhood that Ross and Monica shared with one another. It’s really all about the jokes, though, and “The One With the Football” has plenty.

Gilmore Girls

There are plenty of episodes of Gilmore Girls centered around holidays like Thanksgiving, but ultimately, the entire series has pretty incredible fall vibes.

The clothes always seem to be built around the fall season, and the small town of Stars Hollow is the kind of place many of us might like to visit in the quiet of fall. The banter at the heart of Gilmore Girls is always great, regardless of the

New Girl season 2, episode 8: “Parents”

Thanksgiving is a seminal fall holiday, so it’s no surprise that many of the best fall TV episodes are centered on that day. In New Girl, which is set in Los Angeles, we don’t get a ton of fall foliage, but we do get a classic family-oriented sitcom setup.

When both of Jess’s parents show up for dinner, she decides to try and pull a Parent Trap on them. Fortunately, this is New Girl, so nothing goes according to plan, and plenty of heartwarming hilarity ensues.

The Haunting of Hill House

Mike Flanagan has proven to be an expert at terrifying Netflix series that all have some sort of fall vibe, but The Haunting of Hill House may still be his best. The limited series tells the story of a family who experienced a tragedy some 20 years prior, and is still living with the fallout of that night.

Thanks to plenty of great performances and a smart central structure, Hill House is plenty scary, even as it delves into the personal lives of each member of this family.

Stranger Things season 2, episode 2: “Trick or Treat, Freak”

Stranger Things always has vaguely spooky vibes, but that was especially true of “Trick or Treat, Freak”, the season 2 episode centered on Halloween ups the tension around the central mystery, even as it gives us a chance to see the central quartet of boys get their Ghostbusters on.

Season 2 of Stranger Things tends to get a bad rap, but there’s plenty to love in the second season, including this outing, which is shockingly the only episode the show has ever done set around Halloween.

This Is Us

Another show that technically takes place at a wide variety of different points in the year, This Is Us is above all else an extended ode to the vibe of Thanksgiving. The Pierson family is constantly expressing gratitude to one another, and paying tribute to the legacy that their parents have left for them.

One of the most brilliant things about the show is the way that family is so intrinsic to it, and that, in addition to its numerous Thanksgiving episodes, makes it a great inclusion on this list.

Gossip Girl season 3, episode 11: “The Treasure of Serena Madre”

As a show that was pretty consistently replete with drama, Gossip Girl is actually an ideal vehicle for an explosive Thanksgiving dinner gone awry. In “The Treasure of the Serena Madre”, it’s drama all the way down the line as Blair begins to suspect that her mother is hiding a major secret and Serena is made exceedingly uncomfortable by some unexpected dinner guests.

The outfits are on point, but this episode is a good reminder that getting together with family isn’t always the rewarding experience it should be.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is the perfect show to gear up for the spooky season and enjoy all throughout. It is a retelling of Sabrina the Teenage Witch and is a dark and horrific show filled with twists. and turns.

Sabrina is a half-human, half-witch who is forced to navigate being both a mortal teenager and maintaining her family’s legacy. While the show is scary at its core, it is also a coming-of-age story with a number of relatable moments.

Twin Peaks season 1, episode 1: “Pilot”

Twin Peaks actually takes place in the winter, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have impeccable fall vibes. Set in a small town in Washington that’s filled with coffee and pie, Twin Peaks is a murder mystery that delves into the evil at the heart of American small-town life.

The pilot follows the aftermath of the discovery that Laura Palmer, the town’s sweetheart has been murdered. It’s not exactly a fun watch, but it is thrilling and off-beat, and it may be just what you need to settle into the fall.

Friday Night Lights

A show about football, Friday Night Lights is probably the best way to feel like you’re watching football in between games. This show, which follows a football team in a depressed Texas town, is all about what it can mean for the team, and the town, when the football team is good.

The show has a sprawling ensemble cast, but it’s also deeply heartfelt. Few shows on TV were more sincere than Friday Night Lights, which could make you weep even as you were thrilled by improbably comeback victory after improbable comeback victory.

Modern Family season 2, episode 6: “Halloween”

One of the best parts about fall is, of course, Halloween. And, no one does it better than the Dunphy’s and Pritchett’s. This Halloween-themed episode is not only a fun fall treat, but it’s also one of the most humorous of the series.

It has all the best parts of a Modern Family episode, with Claire being ultra-competitive, Cam has a complicated history with the holiday, and Jay and Manny poking fun at Gloria.

Parks and Recreation season 3, episode 7: “Harvest Festival”

Another fantastic, albeit questionably-aged fall episode to add to your watchlist is Parks and Recreation‘s “Harvest Festival”. The episode shows Leslie as she finds herself in trouble with a Wamapoke tribal leader who threatens to put a curse on the Harvest Festival.

The festival took seven episodes to come to fruition, creating lots of anticipation for viewers. And, it doesn’t disappoint in of giving all of the fall vibes.

Charmed

One more spooky show to round out the list! Charmed is perfect for getting you in the Halloween spirit, as it follows three sisters who also happen to be the most powerful witches in the entire world.

The show is filled with supernatural storylines and has a warm setting that feels like fall.

Did you see it coming? The third season of Only Murders in the Building has finished, and the killer of action-hero-turned-theater-actor Ben Glenroy — played by the ever-hilarious Paul Rudd — has finally been revealed.

Now, take heed, because serious spoilers lie ahead. So, if you’re not looking to know what went down this season, you better run like it’s a cold and rainy night at the theater and the ghost of Gideon Goosebury is after you…

What happened this season on Only Murders in the Building?

Only Murders in the Building premiered in 2021, and the comedy-slash-murder mystery became an instant hit. Viewers loved following the trio of retired TV star Charles-Haden Savage and Broadway director Oliver Putnam — played by longtime friends and iconic comedians Steve Martin and Martin Short — and young artist Mabel Mora, played by pop star and actress Selena Gomez. Each season, the unlikely team and friends work to solve a murder that takes place in their New York City apartment building, The Arconia. As they work, they broadcast their findings through their podcast, called — you guessed it — “Only Murders in the Building.”

Season 3 of the series took us deep into the heart of the Broadway world, as Oliver works on his grand return to the stage after a long, storied career that catapulted to a halt when his play, Splash!, ended abruptly after an actor fell to his death during a live performance. On this season, the series became a show within a show, following Oliver’s fraught production of Death Rattle, a murder mystery play (later turned musical) about whether three infant triplets murdered their own mother. It sounds bleak, and pretty ridiculous, but the dark comedy is what makes this show truly a gem. No one can deliver a pithy patter song debating which of the three infant triplets committed homicide quite like Steve Martin. (If you’ve been watching the show and had the sing-songy refrain “which of the Pickwick triplets did it…” stuck in your head for weeks, you’re not alone).

Of course, as you could expect from a show about murder doing a play about murder, there is an actual murder on opening night! The show loses their star, Ben Glenroy. At first, he’s poisoned, but somehow survives. Then, after his miraculous resurrection, he is mysteriously pushed into an empty elevator shaft, falling to his death.

Suddenly, everyone in the cast, including the ever-fabulous Meryl Streep — who plays struggling but talented actress Loretta Durkin — is a suspect. Charles, Oliver, and Mabel set out to revive their podcast and solve the mystery of who killed Ben Glenroy. But of course, there’s plenty of obstacles — and a ton of laughs — along the way.

Who killed Ben Glenroy?

This season had ten episodes, and each week, the trio eliminated suspects for Ben’s untimely death and found new ones. A major clue for the team comes in the form of a silk handkerchief, which Ben was holding at the time of his death. Since Ben gave out the hankies as a gift to the cast on opening night, the team is sure one of the cast must be the murderer.

At first, Charles suspects that Kimber – played by Ashley Park of Emily in Paris fame. Kimber played Ben’s love interest, and she is suspiciously missing her hankie. However, it turns out she simply sold it for some extra cash. The team next suspect Jonathan, played by Jason Veasey, who is Ben’s understudy. He has an obvious motive, perhaps wanting the starring role for himself. But Mabel discovers that Jonathan has no real connection to the murders, and Oliver, who is dating Loretta, secretly suspects her after finding a scrapbook in her apartment with clippings that appear to be about Ben.

The team then turn their attention to Dickie — Ben’s manager and adopted older brother — who was always in his brother’s shadow. Later, it is revealed that Dickie is Loretta’s biological son who she gave up for adoption when she moved to New York to become an actress. However, Dickie has an alibi during the time when the murder took place, and it turns out Loretta’s scrapbook wasn’t the work of a stalker, but of a mother following the life of her son from afar. Both are eliminated as suspects. The team finds a shredded piece of paper in an office, and with the help of Howard, reassembles it. It turns out to be a bad review of the play, singling out Ben as the root of the problem.

But who would be so worried about a bad review that they would resort to murdering their lead? The trio suspects producer Donna and her son, Cliff. The team confront Donna, who surprisingly, is all too eager to confess. She its that she poisoned a cookie that Ben ate before the show. But then who pushed Ben into the elevator shaft? When Mabel spots Cliff heading to the stage attic, she corners him, and he confesses that during a post-show tussle with Ben, he accidentally pushed him to his death.

The killers are found and arrested, and with a murder solved and a hit play on their hands, the trio head to the after-party to celebrate. But since this show is, well, this show, there’s no way the night can be murder-free. Charles’ much loved body double, Sazz — played by Jane Lynch — shows up to party with the crew. When she heads up to Charles’ apartment, she is shot through the window, and collapses to her death.

When will Only Murders in the Building return?

The big question on the mind of every Only Murders in the Building fan is now: Who killed Sazz? That’s a question for next season, which will likely return on streaming service Hulu in the summer of 2024. Despite the fact we have to wait an entire year to know who killed the beloved Sazz, the good news is that you can re-binge the series in its entirety while you wait. Seasons 1-3 are now available on Hulu.

While the streaming industry’s heavy hitters steal the headlines, Hulu has quietly amassed a library of long-running shows that will keep you glued to your couch. Prepare to bid farewell to efficiency for a few hours or even days. And, of course, Hulu isn’t restricted to just producing its own shows. It also features many popular series from the past and present.

As fans of shows like LostBuffy the Vampire Slayer, or How I Met Your Mother can attest, Hulu is the home of shows full of seasons upon seasons. So, if you’re looking for something to binge on, Hulu has many options, whether you prefer drama, comedy, horror, or a mix of all three. Pop some corn, get cozy under a blanket, and invite a friend over to indulge in a night of “just one more episode.”

American Horror Story (2011-present)

American Horror Story is like a master of disguise in the world of television, constantly reinventing itself to keep viewers on the edge of their seats, lost in a twisted maze of horror and suspense season after season. Crafted by the ingenious duo of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, American Horror Story shattered the mold of conventional storytelling, boldly embracing an anthology format that gleefully flips the script with every season. Viewers are treated to a delightful concoction of fresh and captivating storylines, ranging from the spine-chilling corridors of “Murder House” to the devilish vibes of “Coven.”

American Horror Stories also delves into contemporary issues. Whether it’s via shining a light into the shadows of a mental health facility in “Asylum” or reflecting the political turmoil of the past few years in “Cult,” the series expertly incorporates real-world fears into the fabric of horror. Recurring stars Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and the unparalleled Jessica Lange give an acting lesson as they take on entirely new characters each season. The promise of an emotional brew ranging from chilling fear to wrenching empathy in each episode makes it difficult to say “no” to “just one more episode.”

The Handmaid’s Tale (2017 – present)

The series adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel The Handmaid’s Tale is a terrifying plunge into a future when societal structures have been destroyed, and women are marketed as mere commodities and battle with unimaginable torment. The show takes place in the Republic of Gilead. This theocratic state has supplanted the United States, painting a bleak vision of a country where environmental catastrophes and falling population rates have prompted the introduction of strict new rules.

Elisabeth Moss delivers a stunning performance as Offred, an enslaved handmaid who bears children for the ruling class. As the audience delves into Offred’s world, they see her problems and the larger tapestry of individuals who have stories of grief, defiance, and hope to tell. Most importantly, The Handmaid’s Tale is captivating because of its unnerving connection with contemporary themes like women’s rights, dictatorial tendencies, and social complacency. It’s a wake-up call and a warning all in one, leaving viewers thinking about the series long after the credits roll.

Law & Order: SVU (1999-present)

When it comes to procedural dramas, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (SVU) is a household name thanks to its astonishing run that has kept viewers captivated for nearly two decades. The New York City setting of SVU allows an in-depth exploration of the traumatic world of sexually based crimes and their complex psychological aftereffects. The series’s bold approach to storytelling is a significant factor in its enduring popularity. Each episode expertly juggles empathy and brutal honesty as it presents complicated narratives based on current events.

SVU’s stellar ensemble cast is the show’s backbone, with Mariska Hargitay’s portrayal of Detective Olivia Benson as its rock. As a result of her unwavering commitment to victims and relentless pursuit of justice, Benson has become a symbol of perseverance and success in the face of overwhelming odds. Viewers learn about the Special Victims Unit team’s personal lives and challenges throughout the show, giving the procedural style an extra dose of depth and empathy. In a television market rife with fleeting shows, Law & Order: SVU stands out as a constant in quality and relevancy, making it a show that longtime viewers and novices alike can enjoy binge-watching.

What We Do in the Shadows (2019-present)

The vampires of modern-day Staten Island apparently have remarkably ordinary lives, and What We Do in the Shadows is a deliciously off-kilter comedy gem that dives into this shocking reality. This mockumentary-style series, created by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, is a spin-off of the eponymous 2014 film, and it has carved its own niche in the comedic landscape. At its heart, the show is an odd mix of the supernatural and the hysterically ordinary. Ancient vampires face mundane problems like paying rent, resolving roommate disputes, and attending city council meetings.

This contrast is a never-ending supply of comic gold. Comedic genius abounds from the entire cast, especially Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), Laszlo (Matt Berry), Guillermo (Harvey Guillén), and energy vampire Colin Robinson (Mark Prosch). Their antics, blunders, and centuries-old grudges are conveyed in short episodes that are just as comical as they are endearing. In an era dominated by heavy dramas and high-octane action, this show offers a refreshing palate cleanser, making it the perfect binge-worthy escape from the humdrum of everyday life.

Breeders (2020-present)

An honest and unfiltered look at the ups and downs of parenting, Breeders provides a unique perspective on the rollercoaster of emotions that is being a parent. The show, which features Martin Freeman and Daisy Haggard, debunks the myths surrounding parenthood by showcasing the inevitable weariness, frustration, and humor that come with the job. This raw, unfiltered quality is essential to its attraction. This unfiltered honesty, peppered with sharp wit, hits home with every parent who has ever struggled.

Freeman’s portrayal of a dad constantly teetering on the edge of a meltdown is both heartbreaking and relatable, capturing the essence of a modern parent struggling to reconcile the overwhelming love he feels for his children with the relentless challenges they present. However, Haggard’s persona provides a touching window into the thorny issues of parenthood, professional success, and personal development. Despite its dramatic and comedic elements, Breeders is notable as an honest, often funny, and profoundly moving tribute to the messy beauty of parenthood.

Hannibal (2013-2015)

The psyche of fiction’s most infamous cannibalistic psychiatrist, Dr. Hannibal Lecter, is explored in Hannibal, the brainchild of the brilliant Bryan Fuller. This horror-thriller delves deeply into the complexities of the human mind, interpersonal dynamics, and the delicate border between sanity and insanity. The performance of Mads Mikkelsen as Hannibal Lecter is nothing short of brilliant. He gives the character an air of frigid refinement that starkly contrasts his savagery. The series hinges on this juxtaposition, where horror and grace coexist in a hypnotic dance.

Hugh Dancy’s performance as the troubled FBI profiler Will Graham provides the ideal counterpoint to Hannibal’s cold, planned malice. Their complicated friendship is the story’s backbone, with elements of mutual curiosity, loathing, and an unexpectedly sympathetic closeness. If you enjoy cerebral, aesthetically rich storytelling, Hannibal is a binge-worthy experience that will take you on a journey through the darkest depths of the human psyche.

The X-Files (1993-2018)

Chris Carter’s masterwork, The X-Files, is a compelling mix of science fiction, horror, and investigative drama that won over viewers all over the world and became an instant classic. The series is set against the vast backdrop of the unknown and follows FBI agents Fox Mulder (a believer) and Dana Scully (a skeptic) as they plunge into the shadowy realms of paranormal occurrences and government conspiracies. The central allure of The X-Files lies in its intricate dance between skepticism and faith, embodied brilliantly by the dynamic chemistry of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.

Each episode introduces a fresh mystery, a new “X-file,” ranging from alien abductions and enigmatic animals, to creepy ghostly occurrences. This episodic framework, filled with broader narrative arcs, keeps viewers fascinated by bouncing between stand-alone stories and the developing mythos of extraterrestrial truths. As Mulder’s iconic poster proclaims, “I Want to Believe,” this yearning, this quest for truth beyond the mundane realities of life, resonates deeply with audiences.

The Mindy Project (2012-2017)

Through the lens of the hilariously lovable Dr. Mindy Lahiri, The Mindy Project is a vibrant and shamelessly daring dive into the world of contemporary romance, ambition, and self-discovery. The show’s creator and star, Mindy Kaling, vividly depicts the complexities and joys of living in New York City. The show’s refreshingly realistic depiction of romantic relationships and professional aspirations is one of its many strong points. It doesn’t romanticize the intersections of love, work, and development; instead, it shows how messy and frequently funny they can be.

Dr. Lahiri, a fan of chick flicks, exemplifies many contemporary women; she is ionately ambitious, constantly on the lookout for love, and frequently humorously flawed in her reaction to life’s obstacles. The show’s attractiveness stems from how she interacts with a wide cast of characters, from the moody Danny Castellano to the eccentric Morgan Tookers. Simply said, The Mindy Project is a pleasant break from the usual as it celebrates life’s imperfections, wrapped in humor.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2005-present)

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is an adventurous, rebellious mix of dark comedy, absurdity, and a joyous lack of moral com, making it one of its generation’s most distinct shows. The comedy follows the hilariously inappropriate exploits of Charlie (Charlie Day), Mac (Rob McElhenney), Dennis (Glenn Howerton), Dee (Kaitlin Olson), and Frank (Danny DeVito) — a bunch of friends whose egos, illusions, and pure cluelessness lead them into a host of compromising situations — amid the dimly lit, frequently raucous confines of Paddy’s Pub.

One of the show’s defining characteristics is its daring approach to taboo subjects; it delves headfirst into contentious territory, frequently with a satirical twist that is both surprising and wonderfully observant. Disdain for one another, crazy plans, and an unyielding belief in their warped logic define the group dynamic of the gang. The ensemble cast does a fantastic job bringing to life flawed, often reprehensible individuals who are charming in their continuous tendency to make the worst conceivable decisions.

Only Murders in the Building (2021- present)

Only Murders in the Building is set against the grand backdrop of a historic New York City apartment complex. This humorous murder mystery, co-created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman, revolves around three unusual allies: Charles, Oliver, and Mabel, portrayed to perfection by Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, respectively. When a neighbor dies unexpectedly, their mutual obsession with true crime podcasts entangles them in a real-life murder investigation.

The show’s superb blend of humorous timing and the palpable tension of a murder investigation is one of its notable aspects. The combination of seasoned comedians and Selena Gomez’s youthful vitality creates a charming on-screen dynamic that delights and captivates. While paying respect to the true crime genre, Only Murders in the Building also reflects on our culture’s obsession with such shows with sarcastic remarks and lighthearted critiques.

Disney announced a significant price hike on Wednesday with Disney Plus going up to $13.99 a month and the Hulu option bringing the cost to $17.99. And it’s safe to say s aren’t happy.

Unfortunately for the Mouse House, this has the potential to backfire on the company as subscribers have vowed to drop their Hulu subscriptions rather than pay the outrageous prices. Many flocked to social media to voice their complaints:

“Do y’all when Hulu was like $6/month? I get p***ed every time I see that $18 charge come through.”

“I certainly have plenty of books to read. I’ll cancel my Hulu plus package and Netflix. Stop raising fees.”

Image via The Walt Disney Company

It seems Disney saw how price hikes worked out for fellow streaming giant Netflix and has decided to follow suit. Some pointed out the blatant greed being shown by the heads at Disney, especially within the current context of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

“Bob Iger: The strikers are just being too unrealistic with their demands.

Also Bob Iger: Hulu and Disney+ price increases. No more sharing. You can bet on basketball games through ESPN now.

Jesus Christ, just pay your f***ing staff, Bob. The greed is on full display.”

Whilst many have promised to immediately cancel their subscriptions, some are willing to wait just to finish the latest season of Only Murders in the Building.

“reminder to self: cancel hulu after new season of only murders in the building”

This might just be the opinion of a lowly writer on the internet, but I think a price rise could be justified if we were given great content to go along with it. The problem is, we aren’t. Disney should be slashing prices to apologize for the trainwreck that was Secret Invasion but instead the Mouse House is expecting us to pay it more to cover the money it’s losing for not paying it’s staff.

Only Murders in the Building is one of those shows that has only continued growing its reputation thanks in part to the addition of many marquee-grabbing guest actors lined up each and every season. However, for those who want to binge-watch the entire series from episode one, where can they go to watch it?

The main players in the critically-acclaimed show are already huge names in Hollywood, with the likes of Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. However, it is the show’s guest appearances, like Nathan Lane in an Emmy-winning performance, that have truly put the series’ reputation over the top. The show centers on three strangers who all reside in the same New York apartment drawn together by their love of true crime only to be tasked with solving murder mysteries in real life.

Where can I stream ‘Only Murders in the Building’?

If you’re dying to see Only Murders in the Building‘s first two seasons, as well as catching the newer episodes as they release, you can stream the entire series on Hulu.

In the third season, which debuted its first two episodes on August 8, the likes of multi-Oscar-winner Meryl Streep are among the cast. If that weren’t enough, Marvel’s Paul Rudd, Matthew Broderick, Ashley Park, and Jesse Williams also make appearances throughout the season, among others.

Once you’ve binged the back catalog of Only Murders in the Building‘s first two seasons, you will be able to recognize returning guest stars making reprisals for the newest outing, including Tina Fey and Jane Lynch.

New episodes of Only Murders in the Building season three drop each Tuesday on Hulu with the finale scheduled for October 3.

Warning: Spoilers for Only Murders in the Building to follow.

Season three of Only Murders in the Building has finally landed, and those perfect critic scores couldn’t have been more prophetical; indeed, with its trademark blend of comedy and drama all neatly wrapped up in a peculiarly delightful crime fiction coating, the third round of television’s cheekiest murder mystery is off to a fantastic start.

As Oliver finishes recruiting the cast of his murder mystery play Death Rattle, it’s not long before the untimely demise of Ben (Paul Rudd), the play’s lead, kicks off the business-as-usual state of affairs for Oliver, Charles, and Mabel once again.

But that’s only part of Oliver’s concerns; during Ben’s funeral, he happens upon a theatre critic named Maxine who wastes no time in telling him that she’ll be giving his play a negative review, which nearly lands Oliver among season three’s body count.

We only spent a few minutes with her, but some folks may have found Maxine to be strikingly familiar; indeed, who exactly plays Maxine, and where might we have seen her before?

What actress plays Maxine in Only Murders in the Building?

Photo by Jesse Grant/Getty Images for Disney

Maxine is played by Noma Dumezweni, a Tony Award-nominated actress who has more than a few notable credits to her name on both stage and screen.

Dumezweni is a two-time Laurence Olivier Award winner, first winning the 2006 Best Performance in a ing Role in a Play award for playing Ruth Younger in the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre production A Raisin in the Sun. She won again in 2017, this time for Best Actress in a ing Role, for her role of Hermione Granger in the original West End run of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a character she would play again in the Broadway run and which would get her the nomination for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play.

Where else have I seen Noma Dumezweni?

Dumezweni’s first screen credit was as the character Celia in the 2002 film Dirty Pretty Things, where she shared the screen with future MCU stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Benedict Wong. She would later follow in her co-stars’ Disney footsteps with roles in Mary Poppins Returns, where she played Weatherall’s secretary Miss Penny Farthing, and 2023’s The Little Mermaid, in which she portrayed Queen Selina, the adoptive mother of Prince Eric.

She would also reunite with Ejiofor in 2019 for his directorial debut The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, where she played the character Edith Sikelo. She will also star alongside Liam Neeson in the action thriller Retribution.

As for television, Dumezweni has had a number of guest roles in high-profile British shows such as EastEnders and Doctor Who, the latter of which saw her portray Captain Erisa Magambo, the UNIT officer in Donna Noble’s parallel universe. She also had a main role in the Michaela Coel-led thriller series Black Earth Rising, in which she played Rwandan government official Alice Munezero.
