Robert De Niro has a reputation as a class act. For decades, he’s used his movie star money to invest in his neighborhood, most notably founding the Tribeca Film Festival and ing many other local businesses.

Now he’s proved he’s as irable a parent as he is an actor. His 29-year-old daughter, Airyn De Niro, recently came out as trans, detailing her journey in an interview in Them. In reaction to this, De Niro was approached for comment, giving a quote that should be a blueprint for any parent with a trans child. Speaking to Variety, he said:

“I loved and ed Aaron as my son, and now I love and Airyn as my daughter. I don’t know what the big deal is. I love all my children.”

Let’s contrast this with Elon Musk, who had to deal with the same situation when his daughter Vivian came out as trans. He explicitly says that from his perspective, he’d permanently lost a child, saying: “My son Xavier is dead, killed by the woke mind virus.” He went on to insist that she’s “not a girl” and that he’d been “tricked” into authorizing a medical transition for her at age 16.

Elon is now firmly estranged from Vivian, who has removed the “Musk” from her name, described him as “uncaring and narcissistic”, and revealed that as a father he’d harassed her whenever she acted in a way he considered feminine. Fortunately, Vivian is now living her best life far from her father, who now has no direct involvement with her.

Airyn, meanwhile, can rest easy knowing that, as should always be the case, a parent’s love is unconditional and can’t be snatched away on a whim. Taking to Instagram soon after the Them interview went live, she gushed about the positive response from family, the media, and the online community, saying: “Thank you to everyone who’s been so sweet and ive! I’m not used to all these eyes on me.”

Responses on X have been similarly positive, with s saying “this is what an actual parent is like”, “unconditional love is beautiful”, that De Niro is acting “like any good parent should” and, most accurately: “It is not strange or wrong to love your children whatever choice they make for themselves. Not sure why that gets some upset. Your kid is your kid. That’s life.”

So, if you’re placed in this situation in the future, be more like Robert De Niro and less like Elon Musk. Here’s wishing all the best for De Niro and his daughter going forward.

Javier Bardem is doubling down on his creepy previous role in a new series for Apple TV https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/tv/javier-bardem-is-doubling-down-on-his-creepy-previous-role-in-a-new-series-for-apple-tv/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/tv/javier-bardem-is-doubling-down-on-his-creepy-previous-role-in-a-new-series-for-apple-tv/#respond Mon, 18 Nov 2024 22:57:14 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1795081 "What's the most you ever lost on a coin toss?"]]>

By this time, viewers should be more than accustomed to the atmosphere Javier Bardem brings to certain characters. His performance in No Country For Old Men won him an Academy Award while also terrifying an entire generation.

Now, the acclaimed actor is at it again in another adaptation. This time, Bardem will appear in a television interpretation of Cape Fear. Per The Hollywood Reporter, this venture will be a re-telling of the story fans have come to know. Bardem of course will play the coveted role that Robert De Niro played in the Martin Scorsese film of the ’90s. Also executive producing, the Dune star will portray Max Cady, a convict who, after leaving prison, goes on to terrorize a family he has previous connections with. The new Cape Fear will reportedly address the ubiquity of and fixation on true crime in American culture.

Hollywood is cyclical, and what was once old can be made new again. Cape Fear has been adapted many times, but this new perspective is likely to make it feel fresh. With Bardem’s experience of playing a Cormac McCarthy killer, he will be expected to deliver another disturbing performance.

Cape Fear has made the rounds many times

Max Cady has had a long history of tormenting people, starting with the 1957 novel, The Executioners, by John D. MacDonald. In the book, violent offender Max Cady gets out of prison to get revenge on the man who put him there. Sam Bowden is an attorney who witnesses Cady commit sexual assault, and testifies against him.

The book was later adapted into a thriller called Cape Fear, starring Gregory Peck as Bowden. The 1962 film differs slightly from the source material, as does Martin Scorsese’s remake. However, all the stories have the connective tissue of Cady being a sexual predator who gets out of prison to wreak havoc on those he holds responsible for his imprisonment. Javier Bardem’s version is light on the details, but viewers can expect the same themes to be present in the show. Since it is a series, the new Cape Fear may also draw out many of the more disturbing elements of the story.

Bardem is an actor with immense range who is more than capable of the task. From playing killers to Disney fathers, the performer has quite the repertoire. He also has experience in the true crime conversation. In 2024, he starred in Ryan Murphy’s controversial series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. Bardem plays the titular brothers’ father, who was accused of sexually abusing his sons. This led his children to kill both of their parents.

The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story has garnered a lot of attention since then, mostly as a push to commute the sentence of the real-life offenders. While there were circumstances to the murder they committed, Lyle and Erik have confessed to the crime. This makes releasing the two tricky business. The Menendez Brothers were also vocal about their distaste for Murphy’s series. The American Horror Story scribe included arguably every theory involved in the case, even the discredited ones. For Bardem’s part, he continues to sell these multi-faceted characters, no matter how salacious and dark they are. Viewers can catch Cape Fear when it premieres on Apple TV Plus.

‘Trump doesn’t offer anything’: Robert De Niro issues a warning to voters as Steve Buscemi reinforces Donald’s disturbing deceptions https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/news/trump-doesnt-offer-anything-robert-de-niro-issues-a-warning-to-voters-as-steve-buscemi-reinforces-donalds-disturbing-deceptions/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/news/trump-doesnt-offer-anything-robert-de-niro-issues-a-warning-to-voters-as-steve-buscemi-reinforces-donalds-disturbing-deceptions/#respond Mon, 09 Sep 2024 20:01:19 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1750827 De Niro spoke at a gathering of high-profile Italian-American stars who’ve had enough of DJT’s stupidità.]]>

Robert De Niro is not a fan of Donald Trump. In fact, the 81-year-old actor has been dedicating a considerable portion of his golden years to taking as many shots at the former President as he possibly can.

De Niro has been very happy to go all-in on his of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in hopes that they sink Trump’s return to the Oval Office.

De Niro appeared on the “Paisans for Kamala” livestream, which featured prominent of the Italian-American community who the Democratic Party’s effort to keep the White House out of former Republican President Trump’s control. The event, which was hosted by former New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, comedian Paul Mecurio, and former Providence, Rhode Island Mayor Joseph Paolino Jr., also saw Hollywood greats like Steve Buscemi, John Turturro, Mark Ruffalo, and Lorraine Bracco voice their for Harris and Walz.

For De Niro, he simply doesn’t see what Trump offers the American people, and he suspects that voters who might have previously leaned in Trump’s direction might now be wondering what they would really gain from another round of his tired act as a so-called political outsider, instead of the benefits of the Harris/Walz ticket. “I think people who would normally Trump could very well see that that there is a way with them, that’s more for them than with Trump because Trump doesn’t offer anything,” the actor stated.

The former Oscar winner feels like a victory is there for the taking, but that anyone who thinks that that fight is already won should reconsider. “We can’t for one second think that we’re ahead of this thing. We just have to be on it all the time until the very end because they’re going to try everything when the election day comes.”

Steve Buscemi issued his own take on the 45th President of the United States, and appears to have decided that when it comes to Trump, the advertising doesn’t match the product. “He says he only hires the best people, but he actually fired most of his best people. And he’s just going to surround himself this time, if he’s elected, with people who are just 100% loyal to him and his ways. We know all too well he’ll do anything to stay in power, including inciting violence.”

Things have not been going particularly well for Trump recently, and he faces a torrid time between now and the elections. FOX News, considered to be one of his biggest allies, is more than happy to it that current trends indicate a Harris win.

The felonious former POTUS is also struggling to generate among big-name stars, managing only to drum up encouragement from the likes of former trailer park cowboy-cosplayer Kid Rock, confused Canadian rapper Tom McDonald, and rumored comedian Joe Rogan.

Rogan largely undermined the idea that his for Trump is unbiased after he was left in an awkward spot as he previously misattributed a quote from Trump to Biden, mocking the current president for what he felt was a sign of mental weakness. The quote, in which Trump mumbled and fumbled his way through a story about airports during the American Revolution, was a major sign of cognitive decline when Rogan thought it had been said by Biden, but was considered just an honest mistake from Trump. The good news is that this is the closest Rogan has managed to get to being funny since he decided it was a good idea to interview MMA fighter Alistair Overeem in the cage not 60 seconds after the Dutch man was brutally knocked unconscious by Stipe Miocic at UFC 203.

Much like Trump, Overeem was left claiming to have won a contest that he very clearly lost. Thankfully, when given the opportunity to recover his faculties fully, Overeem was able to it what had occurred, something Donald has so far failed to manage.

On the back of his 34 felony convictions — I know you know that already, it just feels good to say — for financial fraud, Donald Trump is showing his true colors yet again over on Truth Social; by trying to hock his tawdry wares while telling what are probably straight-up porkies in the process.

As we await his sentencing next month, Trump is attempting to fill his coffers even more by flogging his new book, Letters to Trump, a compendium of celebrity letters he’s received over the years. I mean, I assume it’s a real book, even if the cover looks like something mocked up in two minutes on Photoshop.

It’s easy to imagine how Trump’s conversation with the cover designer went: “It’s called Letters to Trump — best book title ever, by the way. Biden couldn’t come up with a book title like that — so it needs to show me writing a letter. Because I can write letters, OK? I sign my name in blue crayon and everything.”

“Do you have my latest book">the likelihood that Trump could be sent to jail remains highly unlikely, even if many would be tickled by the idea of Donald wearing overalls more orange than his face while playing a harmonica. At least there’s some consolation in the fact that he probably doesn’t have enough letters from his hate-filled more recent years to fill a second volume of his book.

Robert De Niro has never been one to shy away from a fight.

The Cape Feare legend has a history of playing tough guys on the screen, and he’s just as unafraid to stand up for himself in reality too, if the last few days are anything to go by.

Yesterday, the actor gave a speech at a press conference outside the steps of the Manhattan courthouse in which Donald Trump was being tried for falsifying business records. The former president is alleged to have listed various expenses as legal fees when they were in fact payments to the adult film star Stormy Daniels, in exchange for her remaining quiet about an affair the pair had in the mid-2000s, while Trump’s wife Melania was pregnant with their son Barron. This is why the trial is being referred to as a “hush money trial,” even though paying hush money isn’t illegal.

The press conference was hosted by the Joe Biden campaign for re-election, and De Niro used his platform to pledge his for Trump’s opponent. As he was leaving the courthouse steps to get to his car, a number of pro-Trump protesters accosted him. Some of the insults they hurled were “wannabe,” and that he was a “paid sell-out” who had been bought by the Democratic National Committee. He was also labelled a “nobody” whose “movies suck.”

De Niro is among the most decorated actors of all time, and his films have grossed billions. He recently earned a ninth Academy Award nomination for his role in Killers of the Flower Moon. To be fair, Donald Trump was in Home Alone 2, so in that sense they’ve both appeared in at least one good film.

De Niro responded to the childish insults with a surprising amount of restraint, telling the brash Trump ers:

“You’re not going to intimidate…That’s what Trump does. … We are going to fight back. We’re trying to be gentlemen in this world, the Democrats. You are gangsters. You are gangsters!”

He then added “F*** you,” to another pro-Trump protestor who shouted at him, which was probably a lot more satisfying than eloquently calling them out for their intimidation tactics.

In 2019 Biden defeated Trump in the popular vote and via the electoral college, leading to the former Apprentice star inciting his followers to attack the Capitol building. Trump continues to allege the election was “stolen” from him, despite there being no solid evidence to back up the claim. There is, however, a lot of evidence backing up various crimes that Trump has been involved in, from the previously mentioned insurrection attempt to various counts of sexual assault and even more of business fraud. Then there’s the crimes against hygiene he’s said to be committing on a daily basis…

One fan did yell that he loved De Niro in Taxi Driver, showing there are some people who still have their priorities right.

‘A vote for Biden is a vote for war’: Kevin Sorbo casts himself as MAGA’s D-List Robert De Niro in painful attempt at relevance https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/politics/a-vote-for-biden-is-a-vote-for-war-kevin-sorbo-casts-himself-as-magas-d-list-robert-de-niro-in-painful-attempt-at-relevance/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/politics/a-vote-for-biden-is-a-vote-for-war-kevin-sorbo-casts-himself-as-magas-d-list-robert-de-niro-in-painful-attempt-at-relevance/#respond Tue, 28 May 2024 21:20:29 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1701053 If you haven't even heard of this guy, you're not alone.]]>

It’s so easy to forget that Kevin Sorbo exists, especially when he hasn’t had a memorable role in almost 30 years, but every now and then he gives us a rude reminder of his existence by dropping some alt-right MAGA garbage right on our heads.

The former actor’s favorite pastimes include sharing conspiracy theories online and reminding everyone that he used to be Hercules. In other news, he recently shared an anti-vax video (just in case you thought I wasn’t serious when I said he was a conspiracy theorist) and made sure to remind everyone that he acts alongside Dennis Quaid in one of his movies, so he is still relevant, guys. Promise. Naturally, he followed the shameless plug up with a heaping scoop of nonsensical drivel.

So what’s got Sorbo’s panties in a twist this time? Well, as election season looms ever closer, the Sorbs is going into overdrive with his right-wing rhetoric and condemnation of Joe Biden. In a post to X (formerly Twitter), the former ’90s D-Lister is claiming that a vote for Biden is a vote for war. Of course, he doesn’t elaborate on how Trump would do a better job given the current political climate (hint: he wouldn’t), but hey, I’m sure he must have felt very smart and humble typing a whole two sentences without once mentioning that he used to do cartwheels with Xena: Warrior Princess.

Basically, Sorbo is positioning himself to be the GOP’s Robert De Niro. The Killers of the Flower Moon star has recently been taking shots at Trump, so it only seems natural that a movie star on the other side of the political spectrum would rise up to take shots at Biden. It does, however, beg the question: could Republicans really not find anyone more relevant than the Sorbmeister? The actor is hardly someone you’d be thrilled to have on your side. It seems he can’t land even the most minor roles in projects nowadays ⏤ and despite what he claims, it has nothing to do with his religion.

According to Sorbie, he’s set to appear alongside Dennis Quaid in the Reagan movie. In a post shared on May 25, he offered details on his involvement, saying that “the left is going to hate this.” A quick check of the film’s cast list confirms that Sorbo’s name is right at the bottom, and in an unnamed role, no less. His name isn’t even present on IMDb, which might mean spotting Sorbo in the movie is going to be like playing a game of MAGA Where’s Waldo?

It’s clear why Sorbo brings up his Hercules role so much; aside from peddling baseless conspiracy theories, it’s the only thing keeping him from doing dinner theatre in Scranton. Comparing him to De Niro is an actual joke, but anyways, keep your eyes peeled for him in Reagan this year. My money’s on Sorbs playing a tree in the background, or maybe an idiot who’s too afraid to ask for directions when he desperately needs them.

There are plenty of words that accurately describe Donald Trump (“accurate” not being one of them), but actor Robert De Niro today has summed up the former Apprentice host and current wannabe dictator of America up in just one.

The actor spoke Tuesday, May 28 outside the Manhattan courthouse in which Trump is being tried for making illegal hush money payments to Stormy Daniels. The payment was said to hide the alleged affair the pair had while Melania Trump was pregnant with Donald’s son, Barron. It was supposedly facilitated by Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, who is the prosecution’s key witness.

Tensions were already running high as closing arguments were being presented Tuesday. Opponents of Trump and those with functioning eyes and ears have argued that this offense is yet another pebble in the avalanche of reasons why the failed businessman is unsuitable for the presidency, and should even be in jail. His ers will either claim justice was served if he does not face sanction for this crime or argue that the system is crooked if he is rightfully punished.

Trump’s behavior has been embarrassing for many years now, with the former president famous for acting out in a way that most toddlers would be ashamed of. This tendency has only become worse over the course of the trial, as Trump is forced to sit and listen to people who aren’t just not blindly praising him, but at times actively pointing out just how terrible he is. And that’s before we mention his questionable hygiene.

The Republican frontrunner has been fined numerous times for his behaviour by the judge, which his ers claim is unfair and his detractors argue is more proof that he is playing by another set of rules. It is hard to see why he hasn’t yet been put behind bars, as during this trial he has attacked several witnesses via social media, as well as publicly complained about the judge’s daughter. Even for his incredibly low bar, the behavior has been pathetic.

Which is why De Niro’s simple put-down was incredibly effective. The Taxi Driver star labelled Trump “a clown,” adding that although New York City is “accommodating” to clowns and “people who do crazy stuff,” letting them run the country “doesn’t work.” An understatement to say the least. And, while Trump’s actions and outbursts should be taken as seriously as a clown show, the fact that such a large chunk of the population thinks he’s America’s only hope makes him incredibly dangerous. He may be hard to take seriously, but the consequences of Trump being elected and allowed to escape justice are no laughing matter.

Rotten Tomatoes has officially cut the ribbon on its most anticipated movies of 2025, and while there’s something to be said about the beauty that comes with approaching everything with curiosity instead of skepticism, there’s a certain theme to this roundup that may result in some being none-too-pleased.

Indeed, while there’s enough exceptions to be had, the overwhelming majority of next year’s most anticipated movies have taken the form of remakes, sequels, and adaptations of intellectual properties that range from safe to “how the hell are they going to pull this off without it being disastrously vapid">The Bride! is bound to be a deliciously subversive take on the 90-year-old creature feature.

And at the end of the day, folks, cinema is not and will probably never truly be dead; some Hollywood executives just speak a tragically different language than actual creatives, and sometimes that means major studios put out a soulless movie here or there (pejoratively, one might even call these movies “content”). But, there’s almost always a great film to be found in many a corner of the world ⏤ some of them are just hiding behind a streaming subscription, a miniscule theatrical window, or an IP sheen that may ultimately prove to be worth your curiosity (can you imagine how much more miserable we’d all be if we had written off Barbie?).

It’s well known at this point that Donald Trump has skin so thin, it’s as transparent as his attempts to cheat at golf.

This has led to a number of feuds with a wide range of people, from veteran groups who pointed out how he disrespected former soldiers to the former model Chrissy Teigen. Yet between his numerous legal troubles, trying to stop everyone finding out how broke he truly is, and failing to maintain a level of personal hygiene beyond that of a helpless baby, it seems Trump may have finally lost his instinctive desire to lash out at critics given that he hasn’t responded to yet another roasting handed out to him by beloved actor Robert De Niro.

De Niro used an appearance on The View to call out the former president, stating, “It’s almost like he wants to do the worst that he could possibly do,” and, “I see what a hateful, mean-spirited, awful thing he is.”

He also criticized Trump’s denigration of disabled Americans and former of the armed forces. The tirade was topped off with a little history lesson in which the actor reminded everyone that menaces like Trump may be ridiculous to the point of parody, but could still do real damage:

“You read about it historically in other countries that they didn’t take the people seriously…I think of Hitler, Mussolini.”

This isn’t the first time De Niro has gone all in on the Trump hate train, using his speech at last year’s Gotham Awards to lay into the bankrupt businessman and alleged sex offender. He was at the ceremony, which is a smaller event that focuses on rewarding authentic storytelling and what it refers to as “significant moments in cinema,” because of his role in Killers of the Flower Moon. The highly successful Martin Scorcese film dramatized the story of the Osage murders, a series of killings of Native Americans that took place in the 20th century. The murders were driven by both greed and white supremacy, two things that are high up on the list of concepts you’d associate with Donald Trump.

De Niro used that opportunity to rail at Trump for spreading misinformation, opining: “History isn’t history anymore. Truth is not truth. Even facts are being replaced by ‘alternative facts.'” He went on to add that Trump “lied to us more than 30,000 times during his four years in office.” These are, of course, the public lies. If we were to calculate the amount of untruths told by Trump throughout his presidency in general, we’d probably have to use all the computing power in the world to reach the number.

De Niro also made reference to Trump’s childish taunt of senatory Elizabeth Warren. The former Apprentice host referred to the Democratic politician as “Pochahonas” while at a White House event honoring Native Americans. Doing “the worst that he could possibly do,” indeed.

Of course, back then Trump wasn’t in the thick of multiple legal cases, so he had the time to get on his echo chamber/failing social network and write a stream of nonsense about De Niro, bashing the Oscar winner’s acting abilities:

“Robert De Niro, whose acting talents have greatly diminished, with his reputation now shot, must even use a teleprompter for his foul and disgusting language. So disrespectful to our Country. He has become unwatchable both in movies, and with the FOOLS that destroyed the Academy Awards, bringing them from one of the top shows in the Country to a Low Rated afterthought. De Niro should focus on his life, which is a mess, rather than the lives of others. He has become a total loser, as the World watches, waits, and laughs!”

Trump has notably been parodied all over the world, and in most other countries is considered a laughing stock. The back and forth has been going on much longer than since last year, though. De Niro has been doing what many other prominent Americans seem to be afraid of doing and calling out the former president and attempted dictator since before he was even first elected, saying “…if I have a bigger voice because of my situation, I’m going to use it whenever I see a blatant abuse of power.”

With any luck, Trump will continue to be stuck in his legal cases and we won’t have to read whatever nonsensical response he pumps out. Until then, it’s De Niro who’s on top.

Giving even the most cuss-friendly Martin Scorsese films a run for their money, Robert De Niro has launched an expletive-filled tirade on former President Donald Trump during a recent episode of The View.

The Academy Award-winner appeared on the ABC talk show to promote his film Ezra, in which he co-stars opposite The View’s Whoopi Goldberg. De Niro didn’t mince words when asked about his message to voters ahead of the 2024 presidential election, reiterating his years-long disdain for Trump and urging everyone to revisit history.

“You read about it historically in other countries that they didn’t take the people seriously,” the actor said. “I think of Hitler [and] Mussolini.” De Niro went on to declare that if Trump gets elected, he will fulfill his promises and “change this country.”

It was during the next soundbite that The View’s mute censor got a Jane Fonda-level workout, as De Niro said those voting for Trump want to “f**k” this country — to rapturous applause from the studio audience. “I see what a hateful, mean-spirited, awful thing he is,” the actor added. Later, De Niro offered a bleeped-out suggestion for what Trump’s slogan should be; “f**k America, I want to f***k America!”

Elsewhere in the interview, De Niro referenced his 2016 comment in which he declared he’d like to “punch Donald Trump in the face,” elaborating that the message was in response to Trump’s own words to a protester at one of his rallies. “It’s because of what he said to a bystander at one of his rallies,” De Niro recalled. “He wants to punch them in the face — you don’t talk that way to people.”

The View interview also saw both De Niro and ist Joy Behar criticize Trump’s previous comments about disabled people and the military. “It’s almost like he wants to do the worst that he could possibly do,” De Niro said in response.

Closing out his tirade, De Niro declared that “it’s over” if Trump wins the election, warning of civil strife and “chaos and craziness” should he take the White House in November. All up, the actor managed to get in four F-bombs during the interview, though the censor denied us the joy of hearing the word in its full glory.

De Niro’s sentiment is perhaps to be expected, since it adds to a long string of the actor’s anti-Trump comments. In 2019, he called the former President a “gangster” — after which Trump described him as a “total loser” — and De Niro has elsewhere labeled Trump an “idiot”, “evil”, “blatantly stupid” and a “wanna-be tough guy.”

Tell us how you really feel, Robert.
