The Spider-Man star made some cryptic posts after Hailee shared the news.]]>
<![CDATA[

Last week, Marvel star Hailee Steinfeld took the internet by surprise when she announced her engagement to Buffalo Bills quarterback, Josh Allen, via Instagram. While most congratulated the actress on the big news, a few people weren’t quite as thrilled, and it seems her co-star, Shameik Moore, might be one of those people. 1j6245

It’s long been an open secret that Moore, Mile Morales himself, has had a crush on co-star Steinfeld, who voices Gwen Stacey in the Spider-Verse movies. The actor’s behavior in interviews is undoubtedly flirtatious in nature, although it seems it was never really reciprocated, leading fans to conclude that the actor was crushing on his co-star. After the news broke about Hailee’s engagement, some jokingly suggested someone check up on the Spider-Verse star.

However, it wasn’t long until the man himself would make a cryptic post to X which many believe could be alluding to Steinfeld and Allen’s engagement. In his post, the actor talks about moving on, meeting new people and embracing new opportunities.

The timing is awfully convenient, and it’s easy to see why people would associate the strange message with the recent news regarding Steinfeld and Allen. Naturally — the internet being the internet, people began dragging the actor online, calling Moore corny and embarrassing.

Others made Spider-Man themed jokes, using reaction GIFs from previous movies and cartoons.

A few noted that every other Spider-Man actor had, at some point, entered a real life relationship with their on-screen love interests from their respective films — perhaps Moore was hoping his time would come.

Moore responded to the backlash implying that his initial post was nothing more than a poorly timed coincidence, but the people weren’t buying it.

Since then the actor has responded a few more times to try to deny that the first post was ever about Hailee, but to no avail. The denizens on X continue to mock the star.

He also seemingly tried to play dumb in a post where he claimed he had no idea about Hailee’s engagement — the post has since been deleted.

Fans of the Spider-Verse movies have also expressed concern that this drama could result in further pushbacks for Beyond the Spider-Verse, a film which has already been delayed for far too long. Although, it’s difficult to see why this would have an effect on the sequel’s release.

Many have drawn attention to Moore’s behavior in interviews where his flirtatious comments seem to make Steinfeld uncomfortable on numerous occasions. This has led many to label Moore as “cringy” with some saying he gives off “nice guy” energy, with his post to X being the final straw for many.

He has also made some questionable posts in the past.

While Shameik has never outright confirmed his feelings for his co-star, it seems fairly obvious his behavior and his posts were more than just friendly banter. Whether he still feels that way now and whether that post really was about Hailee isn’t exactly clear, but it looks like the internet has made up its mind regardless.

Something is happening...]]>
<![CDATA[

Sometimes movie news drops out of nowhere and pleasantly surprises fans, but other times there are signs. In the case of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, there might quite literally be signs that some kind of news or update is on the horizon.

Beyond the Spider-Verse will be the third film in the hit animated Spider-Man movie series, and a direct sequel to 2023’s megahit Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. Right now, the movie has no release date, but that could all be about to change, at least according to some fans.

A massive Spider-Man logo crafted in lights has been attached to the side of a building in Chelsea, New York. The logo was first posted to the r/Spiderman SubReddit on Nov. 18, 2024, and other posts in the time since have seemingly confirmed its existence.

It doesn’t take a genius to know where the logo comes from. The lighting fixture is identical to Miles Morales’ Spider-Man logo in the first two animated movies. Of course, there were no other identifiable features put up alongside the logo display, so there’s no way of knowing exactly what it means right now.

Since it was first posted to Reddit, many fans have taken the sign as an indication that the promotion cycle for Spider-Man: Across Beyond the Spider-Verse is set to start soon, and really that’s the most obvious thing it could mean. That is, unless someone in that building is just a really big fan of Spider-Man, but we’d guess it’s probably the former. So far only one of these logos has been spotted, but it is possible there could be more, so be on the lookout for any others that might appear in a (friendly) neighborhood near you in the coming days.

Nobody knows exactly when Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be released. The last rumor that it had been delayed until 2027 were quickly shut down, but no insight into its actual release date was offered. All we know is that there’s going to be Tom Holland’s fourth Spider-Man movie dropping in 2026, so we expect it will be here before then. Of course, we don’t know for sure.

If the movie is going to be released sometime next year, it would make sense to start promoting it before the year is over. The latest addition to this series, Across the Spider-Verse, was released in June of 2023, but as you’d expect, the hype has somewhat fizzled out since then. That’s not a problem though, all it will take is one announcement or trailer to get the excitement back.

Across the Spider-Verse concluded with a massive cliffhanger moment that is expected to be picked up immediately in its sequel. It’s because of this ending that fans have been scrambling to find any information about when Beyond the Spider-Verse will be here, or if we’re any closer to finding some form of resolution to the last film’s jaw-dropping final moments.

Hopefully, in the coming days, we get the rundown on what this logo means, and with any luck, it will come alongside an announcement. Still, we should also expect that perhaps whoever owns that Chelsea building is simply a Miles Morales superfan. If you haven’t yet seen Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, then you can stream the animated movie on Netflix right now.

The production is taking power and responsibility very seriously.]]>
<![CDATA[

An almost magical feat, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a masterclass in animation when it first premiered in 2018. Featuring Miles Morales in his feature film debut, the movie brought audiences into a wild world of Spider-People.

But since then, the Spider-Verse stock has significantly plummeted. Instead of a cut-and-dried sequel, Sony decided to split the follow-up into two films, which seems to be the status quo for most franchise films these days. Across the Spider-Verse premiered in 2023, but instead of focusing on Miles (Shameik Moore), the film gave Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) more agency than its lead. Numerous fan-favorite characters such as Spider Noir (Nicolas Cage) and Spider-Ham (John Mulaney) were largely missing, and the film did a massive disservice to Miguel O’Hara (Oscar Isaac), inexplicably turning him into a villain. Fleshed-out characters such as Spider-Punk (Daniel Kaluuya) were overshadowed by a team of Spider-People who go against everything that being Spider-Man is all about.

Instead of living by Peter Parker’s adage of doing the right thing no matter the cost, the coalition of Spider-People becomes corrupt and turns against Miles. Gwen, most of all, is a traitor against her friend. Across the Spider-Verse concludes with Gwen finally getting with the program and corralling the best Spider-People to help Miles, making the film feel like a big filler episode leading to the second part. And even with all the theatrics, the Spider-Verse‘s problems were far from over.

While Beyond the Spider-Verse is one of the most anticipated releases, the third film has been consumed with production issues. The original release date of summer 2024 came and went with no signs of when the film would be released. Initially, this delay was due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA and WGA Hollywood strikes, which delayed many productions. Nevertheless, as other features continued on, Spider-Verse remained stagnant. As fans wait in earnest, rumors have run wild about when Beyond the Spider-Verse can be expected.

Is the Beyond the Spider-Verse delay real? 3s531l

The film’s delay has recently been exacerbated by news of in-house tension. According to industry insider Jeff Sneider, Beyond the Spider-Verse has had so many creative differences that fans may have to wait until 2o27 to see a final product. He claimed that production had been halted because most of the story had to be overhauled. This statement was neither confirmed nor denied by Sony, but someone spoke up for the animated film on X (formerly Twitter).

Daniel Pemberton, a composer for the film, retweeted these allegations, with his own pointed response. He didn’t outright say that the claims were false, but it isn’t hard to read between the lines. Pemberton’s social media indicates that there are no such production issues. However, it is hard to take this at face value when there is no secret about hold-ups in the past.

Last year, several animators came forward and confessed to Vulture that they were enduring difficult working conditions. Animators were pushed to their limits, forcing at least 100 of them to quit before the film was finished. The remaining animators worked every day for over 10 hours to complete the film. It is no secret that the Spider-Verse films have had production issues, so it isn’t much of a stretch to believe further delays. At this time, the delays for Beyond the Spider-Verse remain a he-said, he-said situation.

Spot's got a new look in 'Beyond the Spider-Verse.']]>
<![CDATA[

The highly-anticipated Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse just keeps getting anticipated more and more highly.

And why wouldn’t it? It’s the follow-up to a pair of movies with over 50 major filmmaking awards between them, promising a reality-bending conclusion to the Empire Strikes Back-ian ending of Across the Spider-Verse. Old favorites like Spider-Ham and Spider-Man Noir make their returns. Donald Glover, if there’s any justice in this world, finally gets to be a Spider-Man.

And maybe we’ll tie a bow on the story of The Spot, the C-tier villain brought into Across the Spider-Verse with unexpected results. Last we saw him, the monochrome multiverse-hopper was ratcheting his abilities up to a new level, promising terrible things to come.

Then along came Twitter @CanWeGetSomeToast, who posted purported concept art for Beyond the Spider-Verse featuring The Spot, tall as a skyscraper and doing that thing with his hands that villains do when they say stuff like “behold my unfathomable power.”

According to the post, The Spot is set to use his newfound abilities to transform into a villain called The Abyss. So who is “The Abyss?” Depends! Could be a couple of people. Let’s run down the list.

Abyss (the space demon) 1m3f71

The smart money says that the Spot’s new Abyss persona comes to us by way of Death Metal, a very extreme 1993 miniseries featuring more Alpha Flight than you’re probably imagining. It was a point in Marvel history when everyone was trying to be Todd McFarlane or Rob Liefeld — all the muscles were huge, all the teeth were uncountable, and every square inch of space on a body that didn’t have a pouch attached to it got docked from the artists’ pay.

The Abyss introduced in the story is an interdimensional demon creature with a bad habit of destroying the realities that he traipses through, which has The Spot’s brand of clueless power drunkenness written all over it. Big on consuming energy and mass into his insatiable glowy chest bits, he’s even in the same aesthetic ballpark as the even spottier Spot we saw at the end of Across the Spider-Verse.

Abyss (the mutant) 3ta6u

Recall the 1990s. The options for new comic book characters were many but less than unique: Anabolic Nightmare (Cable, Savage Dragon), furious warrior woman with an 11-inch waistline (Domino, every female character Liefeld ever drew), and Freaky Weirdo

The mutant who went by the name Abyss was a Freaky Weirdo. He had a cell-shaded face and arms and legs made out of springy ribbons and he transported people to the Brimstone Dimension through a portal in his Teletubby gut. In a world populated by people who could move stuff with their brains and shoot transdimensional kinetic energy out of their eye sockets, Abyss really strained the credibility of the whole “next natural step in the evolutionary process” gimmick. Today, he’s mostly ed for that time when he showed up as a miniboss in X-Men Legends II.

Abyss (the elder god mind control thing) 66y6b

First appearing in the pages of Nova, this Abyss is as powerful and cool-looking as he is uncomplicated. He’s a mean elder god thing from space, and he loves doing evil mind control — the kind that turns people’s eyes black and makes them fight their buddies. Also, he might destroy the universe.

You know how sometimes a great and terrible wind will sweep across the world, destroying all plant life as it goes? And you know how the natural response to that is generally to get a whole bunch of characters together to beat each other up until the problem resolves itself? Furthermore, have you experienced how the story modes in fighting games tend to make you feel like you’re reading your dream journal from that week when you had a concussion from falling off a roof?

This is the tale of Abyss, the final boss in Marvel vs Capcom 2. Ill-defined, unknowable, and able to take as many as three separate forms, he’d be a gutsy addition to Spider-Verse continuity.

Abyss (the way-too-high-concept Jonathan Hickman character) 3u1fu

This one’s a long-odds bet, but who knows? Fans of writer Jonathan Hickman know that he can generally be counted on to do one of two things: Write compelling new characters or confuse every single reader.

In 2012, he did both, introducing Abyss. One of a matching set of avatars of creation, she was sort of a living Star Trek Genesis Device, hell-bent on creating new worlds by upcycling old ones. Her abilities caught a few eyes on Earth when she tried to give the planet a facelift, and she was invited to the Avengers as sort of a Captain Universe-invoked cosmic parole agreement. Bonus: This Abyss comes with an extra Abyss, as a character with the same name and look but completely different powers showed up in the Disney series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.

Gen V, the spin-off to Prime Video’s smash hit The Boys, is like a version of the X-Men studying at Professor Xavier’s X-Mansion but on steroids (literally). The gruesomely bloody show centers around a group of young superheroes, or “supes,” enrolled at Godolkin University School of Crimefighting who are among the first generation to know that their powers come from Compound V, the chemically crafted super serum uncovered in The Boys.

Wadding through a series of battle royale challenges, these Gen V supes are not your average superhero. In fact, it could be argued that some of them are downright villains. Indeed, everything about this fictional universe flies in the face of typical superhero stories, and that’s what makes it so compelling. You wanted reckless superheroes who act like they’re all in college, James Cameron? Well, now you’ve got it.

Gen V premieres on Prime Video on Sept. 29. 2023.

We're glad we finally have an answer, but anger is still simmering away.]]>
<![CDATA[

Soon after Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse landed fans began noticing something strange. There appeared to be different versions of the movie in theaters, though the changes were so minor most viewers wouldn’t have noticed.

Theories as to what was going on abounded, with a popular view that this was a metafictional multiversal reference from Lord and Miller. Well, Across the Spider-Verse‘s home release is now here and there are even more changes. Now this mystery is solved. In an interview with GamesRadar Miller said:

“There was an international version that was made almost two months before the movie came out because it had to be translated into different languages and these French censors have to decide what the rating of the movie is in Europe. The team at [Sony Pictures] Imageworks still had some shots that they felt they could do better for the finished version. So, they cleaned up and tweaked those things.”

Lord added, “I think most of the changes are improvements.”

But just because the confusion is over doesn’t mean fans are happy. Over on r/TheMoralesSketchbook they’re leveling criticism at Lord and Miller’s leadership abilities, arguing that it’s unfair to animators to change shots at late notice. Others take specific issues with the changes made, like removing Gwen’s panicked “no no no” when she runs to check if Miles is okay in Mumbatten.

There are also those who watched the home release and greatly preferred the theatrical cut, though cruelly there’s no legal way to watch that version now. Perhaps one day we’ll get a multi-disc Blu-ray of every cut out there to contrast and compare, but even now it seems Across the Spider-Verse is still a movie in flux.

Fans are also reeling from the news that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has been indefinitely delayed due to the ongoing Hollywood strikes, but fingers crossed they can get a final cut of that movie locked in early to avoid this whole confusing mess happening again.

There was never any real shot of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse releasing in March of next year once word began emerging that the third chapter in what’s destined to be ed as one of the all-time great trilogies hadn’t even started voice recordings with some of its key cast , but it sounds as though the creative team could do with a breather anyway.

After all, the animated blockbuster became the latest in a long line of Marvel productions to be subjected to behind the scenes tales of woe, with many anonymously coming forward to shine a light on not just the torrid working conditions, but the alleged behavior of writers and co-producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

In an interview with Digital Spy in of R-rated comedy Strays, the duo were questioned on when audiences can finally expect to see Beyond the Spider-Verse on the big screen, and their answer was about as non-committal as you’d expect.

“Those conversations are thankfully above our paygrade, but I can tell you we’re already hard at work on it, and we’ll take the time it takes to make it great. What we’re trying to accomplish with the film is have it be the most satisfying conclusion to the story than it can be, and take it to places that you haven’t been before. And make you laugh and cry, and cheer and think.”

2025 isn’t entirely out of the question then, but based on Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse, you’d have to imagine it’ll be worth the wait when Miles Morales finally returns.

Who will ultimately become a villain and who will become an ally?]]>
<![CDATA[

Now that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is on digital after sweeping theater-goers off their feet earlier this year, it’s time to look forward to the future and see what the plot of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse might hold.

You see, like Avengers: Infinity War in 2018, Across the Spider-Verse is actually part one of a two-part story. Though a release date has not been set, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is the third installment to the franchise that is set to conclude the cliffhanger ending from this year’s box office smash.

With Across the Spider-Verse’s introduction of a multitude of Spider-Man variants and dimension-shattering plot points to boot, the story could honestly go in any number of directions at this point. So let’s give our best guesses as to how the epic tale might conclude, in order from least to most mind-blowing.

Unexpected alliances 533f1u

In Across the Spider-Verse, Miguel O’Hara — aka Spider-Man 2099 — comes across as either a secondary antagonist or an ally to Miles in disguise. It could very well be that he will ultimately team up with Miles once he realizes the greater threat found in the dimension-hopping Spot.

However, perhaps Miguel will actually team up with Spot — only on a temporary basis — in order to use him to reign in Miles’ canon-ignoring antics as an anomaly that could destroy the universe. We could easily see Miguel having a hand in the death of one of Miles’ loved ones in an almost accidental way, rather than as a villain outright, due to the unstable alliance he has with Spot.

Prowler Miles — a surprise hero? 2375e

Another character who will no doubt have a huge role to play in Beyond the Spider-Verse is Prowler Miles. You see, this is the universe that was missing its spider. Instead of becoming Spider-Man, an alternate dimension version of him becomes the Prowler instead, a villain from the first movie. Maybe Prowler Miles won’t be yet another villain added to the roster but a surprise ally that helps our main hero out.

True, Prowler Miles has a lot to resent about his alternate-dimension counterpart. Not only did Prowler Miles not receive the super-powered spider bite he was meant for but his father is dead in his universe while our main Miles still has a dad. However, once the Spot enters the picture, maybe Prowler Miles will see the value in teaming up with his alternative self in order to protect the loved ones he does have left, such as his uncle Aaron and his mom, Rio. Plus, we can imagine Prowler Miles will have an anti-establishment attitude toward Miguel and his Spider-Society’s rigid rules about preserving canon events at all costs.

Does Miguel make the ultimate sacrifice? 3w3y2r

Since Miguel is so adamant that Miles does not disrupt canon events due to the unexpected consequences such actions can have on others and the fabric of spacetime itself, might he take matters into his own hands in the most extreme way">the real world, with it being filmed in live-action instead of animation.

After all, there is a classic episode of The Simpsons in the third segment of “Treehouse of Horror VI,” in which Homer finds himself in the third dimension, changing his composition from ink-on-paper to full CGI. After a polygonal cone he discards pierces the space-time continuum, he is thrust into the real world by the end of the episode. This oddly sounds a lot like the incursion-type events that happen to universes in Across the Spider-Verse when canon events are not adhered to, such as when Inspector Singh is saved by Miles in Pavitr Prabhakar’s Mumbattan universe.

Perhaps Miles’ own universe will succumb to a blackhole-type event when he chooses to save his police captain father against Miguel’s wishes. However, maybe the twist — and the “Beyond” part of the story — will be that instead of Miles and company getting destroyed, they simply get flung into the real world where actors Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld can appear as their animated counterparts, Miles and Gwen respectively, in live-action for the first time.

Will we ever see Spider-Noir again in a future movie?]]>
<![CDATA[

Even as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse enjoys its status as one of this year’s highest-grossing and most critically acclaimed films, more and more people are continuing to discover it for the first time this year thanks to its recent digital debut. However, that has left many wondering: where is Nicolas Cage?

While the Face/Off actor was a fan favorite as Spider-Noir in 2018’s groundbreaking Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, he was nowhere to be seen in the sequel (for the most part). It turns out, Cage addressed this very issue earlier this year, saying he simply never got the call from Sony to reprise the character. As he explained to ScreenRant when asked if Spider-Noir would return for Across the Spider-Verse:

“You’d have to ask Sony. I don’t know what’s going on with that. No one’s spoken to me about that. Ask them. I don’t know. I really don’t. I wish they would. I love Spider-Man Noir, too. I think that’s a great character. Spider-Man’s the coolest superhero. And then you combine that with Cagney and Bogart and Edward G. Robinson, come on, it’s a great character.”

Is Nicolas Cage done with Spider-Noir for good? 5s1b6z

If you’ve seen Across the Spider-Verse, you will know that Spider-Noir is not the only web-head variant from the first film that is largely absent in the sequel. John Mulaney’s Spider-Ham and Kimiko Glen’s Peni Parker are also sorely missing. However, this seems like an intentional storytelling choice rather than a straight-up snub.

You see, Across the Spider-Verse had to introduce a ton of new characters, including many other Spider-Man variants, such as Daniel Kaluuya’s Spider-Punk, Karan Soni’s Pavitr Prabhakar, Issa Rae’s Jessica Drew, Oscar Isaac‘s Miguel O’Hara, and the villain of the film, Jason Schwartzman’s Spot. In order to not overwhelm audiences, we could totally see the filmmakers intentionally leaving out some of the Spider-variants from the first movie so the new characters could shine.

However, does that mean we will never see Cage’s Spider-Noir again? We have reason to believe there is hope since the monochromatic hero and the rest of the classic team from the first film, such as Spider-Ham and Peni Parker, do show up for a brief cameo at the end of Across the Spider-Verse. This may indicate they will all be more integral for the threequel, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

Sony’s Spider 461w3y Man Universe thrown into inevitable chaos once again as the studio delays, reshuffles, and indefinitely halts its slate https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/movies/sonys-spider-man-universe-thrown-into-inevitable-chaos-once-again-as-the-studio-delays-reshuffles-and-indefinitely-halts-its--slate/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/movies/sonys-spider-man-universe-thrown-into-inevitable-chaos-once-again-as-the-studio-delays-reshuffles-and-indefinitely-halts-its--slate/#respond <![CDATA[Scott Campbell]]> Sat, 29 Jul 2023 07:35:13 +0000 <![CDATA[Marvel]]> <![CDATA[Movies]]> <![CDATA[News]]> <![CDATA[Kraven the Hunter]]> <![CDATA[Madame Web]]> <![CDATA[MCU Fanatics]]> <![CDATA[Sony]]> <![CDATA[Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse]]> <![CDATA[Venom 3]]> https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1547913 <![CDATA[
The franchise nobody has any confidence in unleashes the domino effect.]]>
<![CDATA[

Instead of simply agreeing to pay actors and writers what they deserve, Hollywood has decided that slowing down the entire industry to a crawl and delaying the biggest blockbusters on the release calendar to a time when the stars will theoretically be able to promote them is the better course of action, with Sony’s Spider-Man Universe igniting a domino effect that could be a sign of things to come.

As well as firming up a release date for Bad Boys 4 of June 14 next summer, the company has gone to town on its existing slate by delaying, moving forward, reshuffling, and in one inevitable case indefinitely removing a spate of superhero stories from the schedule.

Venom 3 has been confirmed as the first of the trilogy to not release in October, with Tom Hardy’s third outing as the symbiotic antihero landing on July 12. Meanwhile, despite being less than three months away from its planned release date, Kraven the Hunter has been kicked all the way back to August 30, a massive eight-month shift.

Madame Web is now arriving 48 hours ahead of schedule on Valentine’s Day 2024, because nothing says romance like a comic book story trolls and review-bombers are destined to tear down, while Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is gone completely, which shouldn’t come as much of a surprise when tales of behind the scenes woe made it nigh-on impossible to imagine the grand finale would land as planned to an ominous “TBD,” which could realistically be as far away as 2025.

Now that the precedent has been set that studios are happy to run away from the strikes, it’ll be fascinating to see which outfit ends up blinking next.

Jake Johnson tells it like it is, and for that, we are eternally grateful. ]]>
<![CDATA[

Let me make something abundantly clear… Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse isn’t just one of the best animated movies of this year, it’s one of the best animated movies of all time. Heck, it’s just a great movie plain and simple — animated or otherwise, and you can take that right to the bank. (Or wherever else you decide to take my unwarranted opinions. I don’t really care.)

After the film’s ending, fans keep clambering for any sort of info regarding the third installment in this smash franchise. Most notably? When it’s supposed to hit theaters. Currently slated for a March 29, 2024 release, these days it can be hard to expect any big blockbuster to come out on time.

It seems that the Spider-Verse franchise isn’t immune to that trend, and in a recent interview with Comicbook.com, Peter B. Parker actor Jake Johnson remained pretty darn vague on that deadline.

“Here’s what I can promise, and I said it about the second one when we were in the middle of it: Phil Lord, Chris Miller, everybody, the producers on this, the directors they’re going to bring in, what they did on the first one is all the directors became executive producers. So they just keep adding to it.”

With the Lord and Miller universe continuing to grow, it tracks that each subsequent film in their all-star storytelling web would take longer and longer to make. Animated movies aren’t necessarily a walk in the park these days — they take tons of time to bring to life. Especially in a world with shrinking deadlines, shaky job markets, and massive creative fatigue for the filmmakers involved.

Face the facts, people: movies are suffering. It seems every time I turn around, there’s another film rushed out the door before it’s time, and what we end up getting is some half-baked atrocity that no one wanted to go see in the first place. Yuck.

That’s why it makes sense that a movie like Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse won’t release until it’s ready. If that’s March of 2024, then it’s March of 2024. If it’s not… Jake Johnson knows why. Blame him. Just kidding, Jake Johnson seems like a cool dude. Leave him out of this, you monsters.

“What I can promise is they are not going to stop until it’s excellent, and if that means it takes a little bit longer, if that means it’s even bigger, if that means it’s longer. They don’t play by anybody’s rules. They work really hard. As actors in it, we’re always shocked that we get called in to record on this last one. I think it was a month before it screened, where we could not believe we were still recording. So they’re not going to quit until it’s great, and I have nothing but faith in them. But in of giving anything away, (on story) can’t do it.”

Look, I get it, we all love Spider-Verse. It’s some of the best superhero storytelling anyone has ever seen, the MCU be damned. I can’t wait, either — but might have to, and that’s okay.

Patience is a virtue, friends. Which is why seeing Miles and the gang back at it in this mysterious third installment will be more than worth it. Here’s to waiting.

Tobey Maguire’s version of Peter Parker was always a little savage, which is why we got all those glorious bully Maguire memes. However, a video on TikTok has turned his Spider-Man into a downright sociopath lacking empathy or any kind of heroic nature.

The videos posted by TikTok Howieazy feature an alternate version of Disney Plus called “Disney Minus,” and it feels a lot like the Interdimensional Cable from Rick and Morty. It’s a strange and scary streaming service that doesn’t exist in our reality, and it features the heroes and movies we love, but with some pretty big changes.

In one video that focuses on the first Sam Raimi Spider-Man movie, we see Peter Parker in the same situations we from our last viewing — although his behavior differs quite a bit. This version of Parker is way less caring, and his new mantra is “I missed the part where that’s my problem,” which he says in response to almost anything.

Uncle Ben wants to paint the kitchen with his nephew? Not Peter’s problem. There’s someone trapped in a burning building? Nope, he’s not dealing with it. MJ confesses her love? You guessed it, not his problem.

When Disney Minus ruins the Spider-Verse

Howieazy’s hilarious reactions to evil Peter make for an incredibly funny TikTok, “That ain’t Spider-Man, that’s Problem-Man!” His commentary on Peter’s actions adds another level of funny as he seems as surprised as us by what he’s seeing.

The video has 7.4 million views and 1.4 million likes and is one of many ed by the TikToker. If you’re looking for more videos like it, then you’ll be pleased to hear there are many more from the same creator — all of them equally as funny.

As for the strange parallel universe Spidey, let’s just hope we don’t see him make an appearance in Beyond the Spider-Verse next year. He’s way too mean; he’d make the others cry.
