The ongoing Donald Trump / Elon Musk feud is as entertaining as it is destructive. Trump has apparently decided Musk’s DOGE work was “bulls**t”, Musk called Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ “a disgusting abomination”, then tossed gasoline onto the fire by claiming that Trump is covering up sex crimes he committed alongside Jeffrey Epstein. 2c4566

Many in MAGA are pleading for the two to bury the hatchet before more damage is done, though both Musk and Trump are thin-skinned catty queens notorious for nursing grudges. But, for some in MAGA, this is time for a huge sigh of relief.

Put yourself in their shoes for a moment. For the best part of a year, you’ve had to argue that this crushingly unfunny, perpetually embarrassing, and visibly drug-addled loser was a shining light of conservative values, a historic genius, and someone we should all look up to. Now they don’t have to pretend anymore, and the gloves are OFF.

First up to lay into Musk was longtime Trump ally and MAGA central figure Steve Bannon, who’s never liked Musk but largely avoided criticizing him for political reasons. Now he’s unleashed. As per comments in The New York Times, Bannon said it’s time for Musk to be removed from the country: “They should initiate a formal investigation of his [Musk] immigration status because I am of the strong belief that he is an illegal alien, and he should be deported from the country immediately.”

Bannon also recommended that Trump seize Musk’s assets on behalf of the government: “President Trump, tonight, should sign an executive order calling for the Defense Production Act. And seize SpaceX tonight, before midnight.”

One ticket to El Salvador please! 4dx4l

Sadly, SpaceX remains unseized, but we live in hope. Well, I never thought I’d be standing alongside Steve Bannon, but I guess the enemy of your enemy really is your friend after all. So, for once, let’s let ICE do something that everyone can get behind: scooping up Musk, stripping him of his assets, sending him to a sweaty Louisiana centre, and then booting him out of the country. Would it be too much to ask that a spot on a plane to El Salvador be made available?

Ordinarily we’d say no human being deserves to be subjected to the extrajudicial horrors of CECOT, but for Musk we’re more than willing to make an exception.

Impeachment! That'll get 'im!]]>
<![CDATA[

Donald Trump has already been impeached twice, but who knows, maybe third time’s the charm? We’re still just weeks into his second term and the wheels are coming off fast. In the wake of Elon Musk’s deeply unpopular activities in DOGE, his chaotic plans to invade Greenland, and the whole crashing the stock market thing, many are concluding he’s in for a rough four years.

The much-trumpeted Wisconsin Supreme Court election provided some hard data on just how poorly things are going for him. Trump won the state in the 2024 election, but since then it appears voters have substantially soured on MAGA. Even Elon Musk pouring tens of millions of dollars into the MAGA candidate’s campaign didn’t bear fruit, with voters turning out in droves to elect a liberal judge.

Now even MAGA mastermind Steve Bannon seems to think the writing may already be on the wall. Speaking about the Wisconsin election on his War Room program, he predicted that whatever else happens, the Republicans are going to lose congressional seats:

“We lost the Supreme Court seat, and with that Supreme Court seat, in addition to all the issues in Wisconsin of life and of being able to defend yourself, everything else, we’re going to lose two congressional seats. That’s just a fact.”

The consequence of that may snowball into a serious attack on Trump’s legitimacy come the 2026 mid, with Bannon saying: “those two seats put us right on the cliff, the edge, of them trying to impeach President Trump. And it raises the stakes in 2026 even higher.”

All economic indicators point to the United States spiralling into a recession, with consumer spending reduced and prices spiking as a result of Trump’s tariffs. This will soon start hitting voters in their pockets, whether it be by a devalued dollar, job losses, or reduced government spending on social security. Trump is determined to claim responsibility for his tariffs, which he argues will eventually lead the country to the sunny uplands of prosperity.

That strategy is likely to backfire in the short term, as even Trump its it’ll be at least two years until domestic manufacturing is up to full speed. If that ever happens, which, let’s face it, it probably won’t.

All that said, don’t hold your breath for Trump’s second term to be cut short. Even if he’s impeached for a third time, he’s not going to leave office. After all, what would happen if he just said “no”? Are the cops or military going to burst into the Oval Office and drag him out of there? Fat chance.

Steve's prediction sure is a depressing one.]]>
<![CDATA[

Former White House strategist and podcast host Steve Bannon turned a few heads this week when he shared his predictions for Donald Trump and the 2028 elections and yes – what he said is just as bad as what you’re probably thinking.

Speaking to Chris Cuomo at NewsNation, Bannon, who last month proudly did one of those salutes in front of a massive crowd, expressed his deep iration for the president. “A man like this comes along once every century, if we’re lucky. We’ve got him now,” lucky isn’t the word I’d use. He then told the NewsNation anchor that Trump was “on fire” and that he wanted “to see him again in 2028.”

Steve Bannon believes Donald Trump will get a third term 649e

That’s right, Bannon is confident that the current president will get a third term, telling Cuomo, “I’m a firm believer that President Trump will run and win again in 2028, so I’ve already endorsed President Trump.”

This isn’t even the first time we’ve heard talks of a third term. Trump has floated the idea jokingly numerous times, although the more he says it the less and less it sounds like a joke. In February, at an event in the White House East Room, he asked a crowd of attendees, “should I run again?” His question was met with a positive reaction from the crowd with chants of “four more years.”

It might not be a serious proposition now, but avid ers of Trump, like Steve Bannon, seem to be taking the idea very seriously. When asked by Cuomo how he plans to get the president a third term the podcast host gave a rather ominous answer.

“We’re working on it. I think we’ll have, I think we’ll have a couple of alternatives. Let’s say that. We’ll see, we’ll see, we’ll see what the definition of term limit is.”

The definition of a term limit is pretty clear, it’s in the constitution, or has Steve Bannon forgotten that?

Can Trump run for another term? 92b2s

The simple answer to this question is no – not legally, as the 22nd amendment of the constitution states that a president can only have two in office. However, Donald Trump has many problems with the constitution and is actively trying to change it, for example, him trying to end birthright citizenship, AKA the 14th amendment.

Knowing Trump, it’s more than possible he could try to alter the constitution to allow him another term and judging by what Bannon told Cuomo, it sounds like the president’s team are trying to figure out a way to make it happen. “We’re not prepared to talk about it publicly, but in a couple of months, I think we will be,” whatever Bannon and the other Trump allies have planned, it doesn’t sound good.

Newsom says he's flipping the script, Kinzinger says not so fast. ]]>
<![CDATA[

California Governor Gavin Newsom, a leading Democrat, hosted MAGA architect Steve Bannon on Newsom’s new podcast, This is Gavin Newsom, Wed. March 12. Meanwhile, former Illinois U.S. Representative Adam Kinzinger, a Republican, wasted no time letting his feelings be known about Newsom’s choice.

Like many liberal Democrats, Newsom has used his podcast to reach across party lines with guests like right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk, much like Biden istration Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg and even Vermont Independent Senator Bernie Sanders often appear on Fox News to bridge a political divide in the country which some say paved the way for President Trump’s reelection last year.

“Unforgivable and insane” 1rg4w

In his post, however, Kinzinger called Newsom’s choice to engage Bannon in conversation, “Unforgivable and insane.” Kinzinger opposed Trump during his first term when Kinzinger was still in office, and endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. He decided not to run again in 2022, and since then, he’s been an outspoken critic of Trump policies.

Kinzinger’s post read, “I am in shock at the stupidity of @GavinNewsom inviting Steve Bannon on his podcast. Many of us on the right sacrificed careers to fight Bannon, and Newsom is trying to make a career and a presidential run by building him up.”

In an accompanying video, Kinzinger added, “Bannon is the author of this chaos we’re seeing right now,” in the federal government in Trump’s second term, so far. He said, “Because Newsom wants to run for president and be this healer, he brings on this nationalist. Many on the right sacrificed our careers taking these people on,” Kinzinger reiterated. “Newsom’s trying to make a career with them. This is insane,” he said.

Newsom’s wisdom in debating right-wing populists like Kirk and Bannon is debatable. Bannon and Newsom agreed on some points, and disagreed on others during their roughly hour-long conversation. “This is part of the process to unwind you from being a globalist to make you a populist nationalist. It’s a long journey,” Bannon told Newsom.

The New York Times criticized Newsom for not pushing back on Bannon over claims Trump won the 2020 election. He did, however, correct Bannon when he called Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren “Pocahontas.”

Both expressed doubt about Elon Musk’s influence on Trump through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in Trump’s second istration, and agreed they opposed tax cuts for the rich, which Trump’s policies are often criticized for ing.

Bannon was also surprisingly forthcoming with praise for Democrats like John Fetterman and California Democrat Representative Ro Khanna.

Newsom says he’s “flipping the script” 5e2w

Newsom has already courted controversy with this Kirk conversation when he said of transgender women in sports, a hot button issue in the 2024 campaign, “I think it’s an issue of fairness,” Newsom told Kirk. “I completely agree with you on that. It is an issue of fairness. It’s deeply unfair,” Newsom said.

Newsom’s second term as California governor ends next year, and he’s termed out from running again. Many speculate he will seek the White House in 2028. When announcing the podcast, Newsom said he’ll talk to people “I disagree with,” as well as “People I look up to,” including, “some of the biggest leaders and architects in the MAGA movement.”

In an X post, Newsom explained, “Republicans are flooding the zone with content, policy, and messaging — every. single. day. We can’t just sit back or ‘play dead.’ Time to flip the script.” To replicate the right’s online success, Newsom could turn to Dems like New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who has a massive social media following, for inspiration instead of becoming chummy with Bannon. It remains to be seen how Newsom’s chosen strategy will pay off.

Something's starting to smell pretty rotten around here, and it's not the eggs.]]>
<![CDATA[

Another week has gone by in Donald Trump’s America, and it’s becoming crystal clear that this istration learned some serious lessons about being proactive. Trump’s last cabinet was filled with plenty of loyalists, but stacked among the sycophants were a who’s who of established politicians and civil servants keen to serve the country, not the president. This time around, Trump’s team is axing everyone who won’t get in line. From independent watchdogs and nuclear specialists to intelligence officials and park rangers, it’s “my way or the highway” in Trump land — but with Elon Musk around, it’s hard to know just whose way we’re going.

One thing’s for sure: the billionaires are all on board. They’re quietly axing DEI programs and not-so-quietly transforming papers like the Washington Post into their own personal propaganda machines as the dollar signs shine through their soulless eyes. At least we have Americans like Adam Kinzinger to take up the mantle of speaking truth to power. Just like long-time Musk hater Azealia Banks, he’s more than willing to stoop to Trump’s childish level. It’s truly magical to have someone like Kinzinger say, “Hey, so this is insane,” as Trump employs actual podcasters to work for the FBI and his right-hand men throw Nazi salute after Nazi salute just to test the waters.

Canadians across the border are fed up with Trump’s constant taunts, refusing to buy American and even pushing for the government to nix Musk’s citizenship. Allies around the world are showing they have no tolerance this time around, with French President Emmanuel Macron calling out Trump’s lies on live television, prompting the septuagenarian to pout like a schoolboy. But don’t feel bad for ‘ol Don. History has shown that the man doesn’t understand metaphors. Despite the valiant attempts of the U.S. Army Corps to convey the heavy-handed messages of Les Misérables, Trump was as impacted as a Republican asked to show empathy toward trans people.

But hey, at least eggs are only $20 a carton.

Pot, meet Kettle. You’re now heading the FBI together. 2425e

Kash Patel and Dan Bongino
Image via Instagram (fbidirector_kashpatel/dbongino

It is said that Kash Patel, the new Trump-appointed FBI Director who will also head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), intended not to break FBI tradition – and trample on basic good judgment – and promised to appoint someone with experience (unlike himself) within the Bureau to be its deputy director.

Psych! As has been the norm in this second istration, instead of someone with proven competence, we got a partisan Trump loyalist who is all too happy parroting MAGA conspiracy theories and gets way too aroused by the sheer idea of absolute power: Dan Bongino.

Exactly what we needed: more one-track MAGA militants in positions of power in the American government, whose moral comes guide them wherever Trump’s chubby orange finger points. In a 2021 New Yorker profile that now reads in a painfully ironic manner, Evan Osnos writes: “Pete Hegseth, a fellow Fox News host who served in the National Guard, told me, “I carried a rifle in the military, and now I get to serve in information warfare.” Bongino, he added, “is one of our generals.”

As another Trump “general,” Bongino has dedicated the past years to pushing conspiracy theories about the “anti-Trump” “deep state” and the 2020 election being “rigged.” There is no escape from the heavy irony that the podcaster wrote a book called Follow the Money, which feels like a discount, propaganda-based, misinformation-ridden, far-right version of the invaluable Manufacture of Consent. Bongino’s big boss is a billionaire who is hand-in-hand with the world’s richest man so, I guess we only “follow the money” if we can someway, somehow, blame it on Democrats, minorities, and now, Ukraine too.

Bongino and Patel go together like Beavis and Butt-Head, the Mad Hatter and the March Hare, or SpongeBob and Patrick. You can count on both to ask “How far?” upon being commanded to overstep the bounds of legality for the sake of the Trump agenda.

We’re one month and two Nazi salutes into the Trump istration 451r4o

Steve Bannon
Image via CSPAN

It seems those Democrat challenges for Republicans to indulge in — as the right sees it — Elon Musk’s unfortunate and enthusiastic wave have really hit home. Average Trump-thumpers across the country are throwing out Sieg Heil salutes to prove it’s “no big deal” only to lose their jobs, but Trump’s cronies miraculously weasel out of consequences every time. Steve Bannon is just the latest henchman to test the boundaries of tolerance by throwing out a half-hearted Nazi salute while speaking at the 2025 Conservative Political Action Conference, signaling to the world that fascism is A-OK in America.

Two Trump allies throwing out the notorious salute isn’t many, but any red-blooded American knows that the only thing worse than one Nazi is two. They’re like an infection, one best wiped out — or punched right in the face if my days of frequenting punk rock shows are any guideline.

Bannon tossed the salute near the end of his speech after calling for Trump to make an unconstitutional bid for a third term and telling MAGA to “fight.” The human pimple didn’t seem to relish throwing Hitler’s favorite hello as much as Musk, which might actually make it worse. If you’re going to sell out your country to one of the most anti-American movements this nation has ever seen, at least do it with your chest.

The audience may have been less enthusiastic for Bannon than it was for the Tesla CEO, but acceptance of the movement and everything it stands for is beyond evident. We’d like to remind our readers of the Paradox of Tolerance here: if we tolerate those who are intolerant, we risk enabling them. And if those intolerant people ever make it to positions of power, they will obliterate those they oppose. If you need any evidence, 1930s is a great place to start.

To get the rest of the tea, which this week includes a wave of verbal slap-downs from Adam Kinzinger, Trump’s uncomfortable obsession with world leaders, and the slow strangulation of the Fourth Estate, be sure to sign up for WGTC’s They Said What?! Newsletter.

If not Nazi, why Nazi shaped?]]>
<![CDATA[

The timeless, impactful quote “democracy dies in darkness” was an oft-repeated line after Donald Trump won his first term, but it’s not circulating nearly as much these days.

Maybe its the sheer exhaustion of facing another four years of Trumpian policies, near-miss global incidents, and escalating violence against othered groups. Or maybe it’s because a new quote has become much more fitting for our current era: “So this is how liberty dies. With thunderous applause.”

Democracy is no longer dying in darkness. It’s dying in broad daylight, in front of millions of eyes, as figures like Elon Musk and Trump loyalist Steve Bannon light our country aflame to keep their cold hearts warm.

Trump is at the root of our national turn toward fascism, but it’s the bold actions of figures like Musk and Bannon that underlines how successful that push really is. While most of us sit to the side, biting our nails but assuring our neighbors that our country is stronger than this, some of the nation’s most influential figures are embracing authoritarianism without a second thought.

Musk’s mid-January Nazi salute — no, it was not an “awkward gesture,” — and, in particular, the national response to it, clearly emboldened more of Trump’s allies. Decade-old corpse Steve Bannon is sure feeling daring as he stands up in front of the world at the 2025 Conservative Political Action Conference and salutes fascism with a lame flick of the wrist.

That’s right, folks, a second Trump ally just threw out a freaking Sieg Heil in front of cameras and thousands of in-person attendees. Bannon feels so cozy in the America Trump is creating that he’s not afraid to let his true colors shine through, and boy are those colors anything but red white and blue.

Bannon’s salute didn’t contain an ounce of the enthusiasm packed into Musk’s, but there’s still no denying exactly what that was intended as. He may not be quite as brave as Trump’s billionaire boss, but Bannon is signaling to the MAGA base — and, truly, to the world — that fascism is on the rise in America, and it’s being welcomed with open arms by a certain portion of the populace.

The salute came near the tail-end of Bannon’s speech, in which he called for Trump to make an illegal and unconstitutional bid for a third term. After encouraging the MAGA masses gathered to “fight,” and insisting that the “hardest, toughest days are ahead,” Bannon threw a lazy, half-hearted salute that none-the-less spoke volumes, greeted as it was by scattered — but consistent — applause.

So this is what America has come to. We clap for Nazis now. We applaud anti-American values at a so-called “America first” conference, and we stomp on the liberties this nation was supposedly built on.

That’s the America Trump is forging, bit by bit, in his second term. All those promises he made on the campaign trail won’t matter soon, because there will be no one left to hold him able. Because make no mistake, Trump doesn’t see himself as president, he sees himself as king — and when America has a king, it ceases to be America.

Coming from the woman pretending to be a competent Congressperson.]]>
<![CDATA[

Although Donald Trump may not have given her a position in his cabinet, it seems Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has made up her own role — she is the chief policer of the Capitol Building toilets.

The resident Republican nutcase has been on the rampage this week, and it’s only Tuesday. Greene has been particularly outspoken about a fellow member of congress by the name of Sarah McBride. You see, Marjorie has an issue with her due to Sarah being the first openly trans member of Congress.

Of course, being the immature, low IQ buffoon that she is, she decided to make an appearance on convicted felon Steve Bannon’s War Room show to complain about the potential of McBride using the bathroom of her choice. Be warned, the clip is a little upsetting as she proceeds to intentionally misgender and deadname Sarah. Stay classy, Marjorie.

It’s pretty sickening to listen the despicable things being said by Greene; in fact, her rhetoric is inhuman and downright monstrous. However, it’s also somewhat ironic, considering she looks like Dog the Bounty Hunter in bad drag. Anyways, Marjorie proceeds to belittle and bully McBride calling her “sick” and “mentally ill,” among other things. Greene also gloats over the fact that Speaker Mike Johnson has assured Marj that no “biological male” will have use of women’s spaces.

The most infuriating part is when Greene calls upon the “men in this country to defend women,” as if the men of the Republican party aren’t angling to systematically destroy the rights of every woman in the US and send the country back to the 19th century!

Marjorie doesn’t care about anyone but herself 3j2pv

Also how can she even sit there and use the “defend women” argument when she’s thrown her full behind a man like Matt Gaetz, who has been accused of being a pedophile. And what about her for Donald Trump? A man who has shown that he does not respect women in the slightest and has also been accused (and found liable in some cases) of sexual misconduct.

Greene also implies that Sarah McBride could be a threat to children, which is another argument she frequently brings up. No honey, you are the threat to children. Not only is Marjorie ignorant but she’s also completely uninformed on the nuances of how gender affirming care really works. Also, may I once again point out that she fully s Matt Gaetz, an alleged pedophile, and Donald Trump, who was apparently pretty close friends with Jeffrey Epstein. She doesn’t care about the kids!

She can try and present it however she wants, but the real reason for her behavior towards McBride is blatantly obvious — this is about her own discomfort and hatred regarding the queer community. She doesn’t agree with it so therefore she wants it banned under the guise of protecting the vulnerable in society.

The queen of contradiction strikes again.]]>
<![CDATA[

The United States justice system is flawed, there’s no room for argument on that front. It proved itself less broken than it seemed, following the convictions of Donald Trump and Steve Bannon, but a laundry list of issues continue to drag the vital branch of government down.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) would love nothing more than to highlight the persisting woes of the judicial branch, but she doesn’t have quite enough sense in her head to parse the complicated issues surrounding the U.S. legal system. Instead of better informing herself on the matter, the miserable hobgoblin is perfectly content to contradict herself at every turn.

The sorry excuse for a Congresswoman spends at least half of every working day on X, and she’s not slowing down following the start of fellow Trump crony Steve Bannon’s prison sentence. She’s been aiming her mouth-cannon at the judicial branch ever since, blasting it as “weaponized” and akin to those in “third world countries,” but that perspective only seems to hold up when it benefits Greene.

When the justice system actually does something she approves of, all of the sudden Greene is in full . She flip flopped embarrassingly from content to furious in back-to-back tweets on July 2, leaving less than an hour between two takeaways that paint our country in completely different lights.

The first of these went up in the mid-afternoon, and contained high praise for the Supreme Court’s decision to grant Donald Trump immunity for “official” acts enacted as president, which could extend to his involvement in the Jan. 6 coup attempt. She sees the move as a major victory for the “rule of law,” and, in her share of Trump’s all-caps Truth Social rant, claimed that “all of the fraudulent political charges brought against President Trump should be immediately dropped.”

Less than 45 minutes later, she returned to X to share a starkly different opinion. This time she was back on a familiarly manipulative diatribe about Steve Bannon’s far too-brief prison sentence, labeling the disgraced advisor a “political prisoner of the Biden regime,” and claiming that the justice system will come after Trump next.

Its a hilarious dichotomy, but Marge will never wrap her brain around the contradiction. Is our justice system irreparably broken, or performing perfectly? It seems to depend on whether or not its pursuing the law in a way Greene agrees with, which — given the unabashedly criminal nature of so many of her peers — typically sees the frothing Georgian solidly in opposition to its decisions.

The Supreme Court, however, is stacked in Trump’s favor. That’s entirely due to the disgusting and utterly adolescent actions of our Republican Congresspeople, who blatantly lied when they refused to consider Barack Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland for a spot on the court. They turned around a few years later and completely ignored the precedent they themselves set, proving once and for all how little they care to uphold the standards of the office they were elected into.

For this reason, and this reason alone, Republicans have harkened in several freedom-threatening wins over the last few years. They robbed women of the right to access vital healthcare in a number of states, they ignored a range of cases that inarguably deserved their attention, and they granted Trump immunity in a situation in which, had he gotten his way, our democracy would have crumbled.

Its in no way surprising to watch Greene cherry pick which judicial decisions to , while blasting others as coming from a “broken” and flawed system, but its the cherry on top of an absolute s**t salad of a week. The first debate was disheartening enough to drain hope from a good half of the nation, and the continued idiocy of our elected leaders, paired with the awful options we’re left to choose between for president, leaves many of us with little hope for the future of our nation.

Does she know the difference between 'hostage' and 'inmate?']]>
<![CDATA[

Marjorie Taylor Greene’s propped up a bunch of BS across her political career, but the latest drivel may take the cake.

The deranged Congresswoman and utter embarrassment of a human being has been worked up about the incoming consequences her colleagues are facing, and her ire rose to an 11 following the start of Steve Bannon’s prison sentence. The former strategist under Donald Trump was slapped with a four-month sentence for refusing to comply with a Congressional investigation, and he’s facing the music.

If you ask Marge, however, he’s being heartlessly persecuted by the democrats, not facing up to the repercussions his own actions prompted. Had Bannon not been a stubborn ass about his subpoena, he wouldn’t be in this position, but it turns out that — even among the responsibility-dodging Trump toadies — actions do, in fact, have consequences.

Greene refuses to acknowledge that, of course, so now she’s working to change the narrative, by claiming that Bannon is both a “great American patriot and fighter” and a “political hostage of the Communist Democrat Party.”

He’s not a hostage, babes, he’s an inmate. Does that mean that every criminal currently serving jail time counts in Greene’s books as a political prisoner? I’d guess not, because that wouldn’t suit her narrative, but it would seem to align with what the brainless quack is rattling off over at X.

Really, Marge is just using incendiary language in order to distract from the fact that this is nothing but a political plug. It’s not even in of Bannon — in fact, she just seems to be leveraging the Trump loyalist’s prison sentence into a push to shift Connecticut’s 5th district red. Noting that fewer democrat protesters showed up than expected, Greene took their absence to mean that CT-05 is already practically a republican district. She urged people to shift it all the way red this November and even used Bannon’s current situation as a blatant tool to get her point across.

It’s surprisingly heartless, even from someone like Greene, to manipulate a situation that she supposedly sees as unfair to get a point across. Sure, we all know Bannon earned those four months (and plenty more), but still. At least pretend that you care about his life beyond how it can be exploited in your favor, Marge.

The tacky post was quickly drowned out by commenters, who rushed to blast Greene and invite the Congresswoman to “ him in prison if you’re going to miss him so much.” Blasting both Greene and her imprisoned bestie as “traitors,” people made their lack of patience for the 50-year-old’s antics clear.

Quite a few comments keep things succinct — simply pointing out that “Steve Bannon is a criminal”— but others took the time to really lay into the inmate. There’s simply no beating responses like “Steve Bannon is the child of a cigarette butt and a used douche,” which really displays the level of “over it” many people in the country have reached.

We’ll be here for awhile if the MAGAs have anything to say about it. At least we’ve got another shot at removing Trump from the running, and several of his pathetically inept followers from office, when the next election arrives this November.

Wonder which gang he's going to behind bars?]]>
<![CDATA[

Trump loyalist and key figure in the rise of former President Donald Trump, Steve Bannon, reported to prison on July 1 to serve a four-month sentence following a congressional conviction. So what did he do? He ignored a congressional subpoena, something that’s pretty much guaranteed to elicit jail time – and it did.

Bannon reported to the low-security Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut (FCI Danbury). Because it’s Bannon, he arrived to a cadre of ers and referred to himself as a “political prisoner,” adding that his ers will spread his message while he’s away.

“I’m proud of going to prison today,” Bannon said. “I have not only no regrets, I’m proud of what I did.”

Bannon stood in front of a large sign that said “Free Bannon” and smiled and laughed as both Blackwater founder Erik Prince and right-wing rabble-ro Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene stood next to him.

Bannon was convicted of two misdemeanor counts of contempt of Congress in 2022 after refusing to testify or provide documents to the House of Representatives select committee investigating the insurrection on Jan. 6, following Trump’s election loss.

Bannon was the first person to be prosecuted for that particular offense since 1974, when former President Richard Nixon conspirator G. Gordon Liddy went to prison for his role in the Watergate scandal. He served more than four years for his crimes.

Bannon was Trump’s chief White House strategist in 2017 until the two men had a falling out of sorts, which has since been rectified.

“The conviction of Steve Bannon is a victory for the rule of law,” the committee said at the time. “Just as there must be ability for all those responsible for the events of January 6th, anyone who obstructs our investigation into these matters should face consequences. No one is above the law.”

During his trial, Bannon’s lawyers said he was being targeted for political reasons and that the Democrats were working with prosecutors to bring him down. Prosecutors said Bannon needed to be held able for his blatant disregard of Congress’ authority.

The prosecution only called two witnesses during the trial. One was committee staffer Kristin Amerling. She said Bannon ignored the subpoena and didn’t ask for any extensions. Bannon said he was covered under Trump’s executive privilege, a defense the judge did not buy as viable.

Trump has gotten Bannon out of trouble before. In 2020, he was charged with defrauding donors over Trump’s promise to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico. Trump pardoned him for that one.

The former Trump advisor is serving hard time.]]>
<![CDATA[

With increasing frequency, the people around Donald Trump — the very same people who leveraged him into office — are finding themselves on the wrong side of the law.

As it turns out, a lot of illegal dealings went on behind the scenes ahead of, during, and even following Trump’s term in office, but easily among the most severe was the attempted insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021. Republicans have been trying to sweep it under the rug, but thankfully the people in charge are well aware of how serious the incident was. Make no mistake, this was an outright attack on our democracy. No amount of whataboutism will ever change that.

Steve Bannon, former Trump strategist, former executive chairman of Breitbart News, habitual wearer of an unreasonable number of layered shirts at any given moment, and current Jabba the Hutt impersonator, is chief among Trump’s one-time inner circle facing harsh consequences. He was a major player in the attempted insurrection, and his refusal to face the music for his actions officially landed the one-time Trump advisor in prison.

Steve Bannon’s been dodging ability over his involvement in the Jan. 6 Capitol Attack for years now, but it seems his time evading responsibility is at an end. On May 10, a federal appeals court upheld a contempt-of-Congress conviction against Bannon, who failed to comply with a subpoena from the House January 6 committee. He was found guilty some time ago, but the upholding of his conviction lead to hard time for the 70-year-old.

The DC Circuit’s official affirmation of that conviction, even as they slapped aside Bannon’s attempted challenges, landed Bannon with a short — but still satisfying — conviction. He was officially slapped with a sentence, and four months in federal prison.

As noted above, Bannon’s spent plenty of time testing, and even outright breaking, the law over the last few decades, but he’s not serving time for any of them. Not really, at least. He’s not going to jail due to his involvement in the Jan. 6 riot, nor for the fraud and money laundering trial that was nullified following Donald Trump’s last-minute pardon.

Instead, Bannon was charged following his refusal to adhere to a congressional subpoena. The U.S. House Select Committee subpoenaed Bannon in late 2021 in relation to the attempted insurrection on Jan. 6, and Bannon failed to comply. He was later indicted by a federal grand jury, and less than a year later — in July of 2022 — Bannon was found guilty on two criminal contempt charges. The first related to his refusal to surrender documents, and the second for dodging his testimony.

As a result, Bannon was ordered to report to a federal prison in Danbury, Connecticut no later than July 1, 2024. He reported to prison right around noon, and will spend the next four months behind bars.

We wonder if she’ll contribute to the inmate’s commissary.]]>
<![CDATA[

The chickens are coming home to roost for a slew of Donald Trump’s criminal cronies, and Steve Bannon is next on the docket.

The former Breitbart News chairman and short-lived White House chief strategist first came under scrutiny by a federal grand jury in 2020, and four years later he’s officially headed to prison. Bannon reported to federal prison today, July 1, on two charges regarding criminal contempt of Congress. He was found guilty in July of 2022 on both counts — one count of not providing documents, and one count of not testifying to Congress — and in early June, Judge Carl Nichols ordered Bannon to report to the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut by July 1.

That date is officially here, which means Bannon is set to spend the next four months behind bars. Its a slap on the wrist compared to what he could have served, if not for Trump’s last-minute pardon, but it does show that even among the seemingly untouchable MAGAs, actions have consequences.

That’s not sitting well with the aforementioned MAGAs, and fellow January 6 apologist Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is among the most perturbed. She posted an outraged message to her followers on X, declaring the move an all-caps “DISGRACE,” and labeled the soon-to-be inmate a “patriotic American.”

Included in the tweet was an interview between Bannon and Greene, in which the 50-year-old Congresswoman blasts the Democratic Party as a “dictatorship,” and disparaged the Jan. 6 Committee as “illegitimate” and a “failure” by Congress.

Considering that Greene was among the people who ed the Jan. 6 insurrection, her stance is no surprise. If the people who encouraged the infamous attempted coup are too closely examined, then Greene herself may come under fire. She can’t have that, so she has to push back at every opportunity, and work to paint the investigations as immoral and unlawful.

Bannon’s four-month sentence, which officially began around noon on July 1, is far less than he deserves, but at least it’s a (minor) comeuppance for a man whose familiarity with criminal activity seems to rival Trump’s. The MAGA movement is increasingly reshaping the Republican Party as the party of liars, cheats, and criminals, and with Bannon’s foray in to the federal prison system, he’s only reinforcing the new identifiers of the GOP.
