The Simpsons is still running after decades of unforgettable humor, and is often at its most sweet, scathing, and humorous around Christmas.

While the better-known specials set around Halloween are the topic of more frequent conversations and carry more cultural cache, it is the moments in the winter that showcase the heart of the show. Here, we see the family being sweet, doing kind things for strangers, and learning a lesson or two along the way. Of course, with more than 36 seasons to date, it can be hard to pinpoint this content when wanting to watch it.

Thanks to us, readers will struggle with this no more. Below is our list of the best episodes of the show which take place at Christmas or have Christmas as a central theme. Some may not be seen as appropriate to include, but hey, if Die Hard can fuel endless debate about what it is or is not, so can this show about an animated typical American family.

10. “Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire” (season 1, episode 1)

This episode started it all after Homer and the bunch’s roots with Tracey Ullman. Homer fails to earn cash for presents for the family after issues at work. Meanwhile, Marge uses what they have to remove a tattoo Bart got without permission, and, in a moment of desperation, heads down to the dog track. As a result, they meet Santa’s Little Helper, and he comes home to be a new addition. Homer is upset at first, but then his heart melts and he realizes the dog needs them as much as they need him — a nice message of family being found and good gifts really being free.

9. “Grift of the Magi” (season 11, episode 9)

‘Simpsons’ episodes after the 10th season often get stereotyped as being bad and unfunny, but that’s not the case here. A toy company buys the elementary school and privatizes it as a means of having access to the children for product development. When a toy called Funzo is released, the family resolves to steal it with the help of Homer. In the end, we get a fun commentary on excessive commercialization and the presence of monopolies in so-called “family friendly” markets. A particular highlight is Homer breaking into numerous homes and overcoming obstacles.

8. “Holidays of Future ed” (season 23, episode 9)

This episode gets included here for a number of reasons. For starters, it takes place in the future (this is always a great setting for the show), and features the family coming together for a Christmas holiday, while Bart struggles to be a better father to his sons, and Lisa seeks to connect with her daughter. Seeing the pair discuss how hard it is to raise a young person right hits home around the holiday season. A fun fact is it was also intended as a series finale, too.

7. “Miracle on Evergreen Terrace” (season 9, episode 10)

As is the case with many episodes of the show, this one features Bart as its main focus, and depicts what happens when he burns down the family tree and lies about it. Springfield and its kooky characters rally to their aid with a new tree and $15,000, but it is a bitter reward, after the incident that led to the fire is eventually revealed. The family is looted and in the end play with a tattered washcloth. The message here is you do not really need a lot at Christmas.

6. “Skinner’s Sense of Snow” (season 12, episode 8)

This episode of the show has the children trapped in school due to bad weather and makes our list because it touches on an aspect of the holiday season outside of the rituals and traditions people have known for centuries. When it comes down to it, school at this point of the year can suck; you watch a lot of dull movies, are ready for the holidays, and hate being there any longer than you have to be. Here, Principal Skinner tries to keep everyone under control but is soon overthrown and put through the wringer. It is fun to watch him get his comeuppance after so many prior moments of cold behavior.

5. “I Won’t Be Home for Christmas” (season 26, episode 9)

Let’s face it, a lot of holiday content ignores the darker side of what Christmas entails. This episode dares to go there. Homer stops in for a drink, and Moe confides in him about how lonely and depressed he is, and we eventually see how lost others can be. A modern classic and one which should get people thinking about others in need of kindness every single December.

4. “White Christmas Blues” (season 25, episode 8)

The main story in this piece has Springfield becoming a tourist hotspot due to being the only city in the nation to have snow at Christmas. This is fine and dandy, but the actual reason this episode is on our list is its side story. Lisa buys gifts for the family and is hurt when she sees Bart destroying his. However, she learns a lesson when he calls her out for getting gifts she would enjoy them having, not what they would actually like. This is a solid lesson to learn generally, and it says something about a cartoon that it can show it to viewers with a deft hand after decades of familiarity.

3. “She of Little Faith” (season 13, episode 6)

Lisa Simpson has arguably had the most growth throughout the show’s run, and this is very much the case here. She loses her faith after the church becomes more commercial in its focus, finds solace in Buddhism after meeting Richard Gere, and learns from him it is okay to enjoy other holidays so long as you are secure in your beliefs and respectful of those who may have different ones. Her character arc is a great message of “peace on earth” that many could follow more often.

2. “Simpsons Xmas” (season 17, episode 9)

This was a short which aired on The Tracey Ullman Show, but is on our list as it is clever to see Bart’s take on the classic poem about the night before Christmas. It shows classics can be reworked to fit a modern context and correctly notes that parents get exhausted putting things together for their kids. It’s unfortunate more are not aware of it.

1. “Marge Be Not Proud” (season 7, episode 11)

Far and away, this is the best Christmas episode of The Simpsons to date. Here, Bart gets caught shoplifting a game Marge refused to buy him. Bart gets found out when the family returns to the store for their annual Christmas photo, he breaks his mother’s heart, and in the end works hard to get back into her good graces. The story is capped off with her getting him a game he did not want, but he accepts it with grace, which displays his ability to grow as a person. So many holiday themes are present, and this episode should be standard viewing for anyone with a screen around the Christmas season.

Before Mariah Carey and her iconic Christmas anthem fully defrost in time for the holiday season, it’s important to allow an ever-popular celebration like Thanksgiving to have its moment in the spotlight.

As Turkey Day rapidly approaches, there’s no better form of preparation for festive fanatics than sitting down in front of the television and adhering to a variety of unforgettable holiday episodes — many of which were made popular during the soaring ‘90s. As television stans already know, the ‘90s was one of the best ages for television, with series like Friends, The Sopranos, and The Simpsons absolutely dominating pop culture.

Seeing as the common elements surrounding Thanksgiving are family, food, and feel-good moments, it’s certainly no surprise that many of these shows incorporated a few specials inspired by the stomach-growling holiday. So before you unbutton your pants after that otherworldly Turkey Day feast, let’s take a look at the 12 best ‘90s family sitcom Thanksgiving episodes, ranked from “would you the potatoes">the unfortunate ing of star Matthew Perry last year, this feels like the necessary time to try and have a laugh.

Ah, the holiday season. It’s the preeminent time for joy, cheer, and garbage television, which actually makes for some entertaining fun. So before you jingle those bells and deck the halls, it’s important to grab a seat on the couch and adhere to an assortment of gnarly Thanksgiving TV specials.

And while a large majority of the very best Thanksgiving TV episodes pertain to classic ‘90s family sitcoms, there’s certainly no denying that a plethora of infamous animated series have produced a fair share of memorable episodes related to Turkey Day. Of course, it seems absolutely pointless to indulge in a variety of flavorful pies and a full plate of stuffing without having the television blaring in the background.

So from classic animated shows from the ‘90s to modern-day comedies which continue to provide us with endless laughs, let’s dive in and explore the best animated Thanksgiving TV episodes that are perfect for watchlists this November.

Garfield – “Garfield’s Thanksgiving”

Image via CBS

Considering the entire series is about a pudgy cat who loves to eat like his life depends on it, need I actually say more? Nevertheless, Garfield is one of those nostalgic TV shows that just never seems to leave your mind — especially the episode where Garfield is placed on a strict diet right before Thanksgiving. Naturally, Garfield retaliates by trying to sabotage his owner Jon’s dinner date, all because he couldn’t indulge in a huge feast. It’s so, so silly, but also undoubtedly hilarious.

American Dad! – “There Will Be Bad Blood”

Image via Fox

There’s a strong reason why ever-popular animated series such as American Dad! and Family Guy attracts such a wide audience — because these shows are incredibly funny. And just like with every other major show out there, audiences are further captivated by particular holiday specials, which certainly helps when you realize just how masterful this Thanksgiving episode is. Hitting the nail on the head in of social issues and greed, this episode is the perfect watch for Turkey Day.

Rugrats – “The Turkey Who Came to Dinner”

Image via Nickelodeon

You’d be hard-pressed to find a singular soul who grew up as a ‘90s kid who wasn’t completely obsessed with Rugrats. Just as often as the beloved series focused on the lives of a group of babies, the series also managed to touch on more serious topics — especially in this specific Thanksgiving episode, where the infants are taught about the true story of Native Americans and the expedition of the pilgrims. It’s a must-watch episode that all should adhere to this November.

Winnie the Pooh – “A Winnie the Pooh Thanksgiving”

Image via ABC

For some of us, Winnie the Pooh isn’t just a character, but a way of life. For some of us, our first birthday party featured us dressed head-to-toe in Winnie the Pooh attire. Oh, just me? That’s alright. Anyway, this made-for-TV special undoubtedly showcases a whirlwind of nostalgia — with the entire group gathering together to share a marvelous Thanksgiving feast amongst them. And even when the dinner is seemingly ruined, the gang all learn that spending quality time with friends and family is the true importance.

Bob’s Burgers – “Turkey in a Can”

Image via Fox

Out of all the fantastic television shows on this list, I’d humbly argue that very few can handle Thanksgiving episodes as good as Bob’s Burgers. But while the show possesses a handful of memorable Turkey Day specials, there’s simply no denying that “Turkey in a Can” is the cream of the crop. With the witty special centering around a turkey-destroying perpetrator who keeps placing the uncooked bird in various toilets, there’s plenty of gut-busting humor to make your Thanksgiving even more memorable.

South Park – “Black Friday”

Image via Comedy Central

Technically, this isn’t a Thanksgiving episode per se, so we are bending the rules a little bit, but this episode of South Park is worth it. So while this doesn’t specifically pertain to Thanksgiving, it takes place the day after — which has gotta count for something. As its title happily suggests, the special centers around the chaos and insanity that occurs during most Black Friday sales. The special partially pokes fun at Game of Thrones, which certainly makes for excellent TV.

King of the Hill – “Happy Hank’s Giving”

Image via Fox

If you’re like me and grew up around the potty mouths of your dad and uncles, then King of the Hill feels like nothing short of a blast from the past of childhood. But in the show’s specific Thanksgiving episode, the familiar Hill family find themselves caught up in the inescapable holiday rush, and wind up stranded at the airport rather than loosening their pants and eating an entire feast of stuffing and pie. It’s not an ideal real-life situation, but it makes for a comical episode.

Hey Arnold! – “Arnold’s Thanksgiving”

Image via Nickelodeon

I might be a little biased here, but Hey Arnold! Is definitely one of the best animated series from the ‘90s. Centering around the titular football-headed Arnold, this Turkey Day extravaganza revolves around Arnold and his friend-slash-nemesis Helga ditching their own families and attending Thanksgiving dinner at their teacher’s house. In the end, the pair realize that spending quality time with their own kin is truly what the holiday is all about.

Peanuts – “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving”

Image via CBS

I already know that lovable jingle is in your head right now, because who doesn’t hum the Peanuts theme song to themselves from time to time? Aside from the infectious theme song, this Thanksgiving special makes the rest of these episodes seem meaningless — especially when the episode perfectly tackles the theme of family and the importance of being with loved ones for the Thanksgiving festivities. You’ll definitely want to add this iconic special to the watchlist for this year’s Turkey Day.

The Simpsons – “Bart vs. Thanksgiving”

Image via Fox

There are several huge reasons as to why The Simpsons is one of the most popular animated series of all time, and its unforgettable Thanksgiving episode is definitely a fantastic example. In the classic episode, chaos absolutely ensues once Bart breaks his sister Lisa’s centerpiece. Disgruntled and upset, Bart soon runs away from home and eventually finds himself in a soup kitchen. In the end, Bart realizes the error of his ways and returns home to be with the one thing that cannot be replaced — family.

For once it is very much not “coming up Milhouse.” When The Simpsons voice actors signed on for the show back in 1989 the idea that the show would still be wildly popular 35 years later would have seemed preposterous.

Well, we’re now on Season 36 and 774 episodes as of writing and, if anything, the show is currently increasing in popularity. But even if Springfield’s first family are likely to have further adventures for decades to come, they won’t be doing it with one of the most iconic voices.

Pamela Hayden, the voice of Milhouse, Jimbo Jones, Rod and Todd, and many smaller characters has announced she’s calling it quits. The news came in a touching video, in which the 70-year-old confirmed that she’s leaving and underlined her love for all things Milhouse. She said:

“The time has come for me to hang up my microphone. It’s been an honor and a joy to have worked on such a funny, witty, and groundbreaking show… I’ll always have a special place in my heart for that blue-haired 10-year-old boy with glasses.”

Hayden’s final performance as Milhouse will be in this year’s second (and strangely belated) Halloween special, “Treehouse of Horror Presents: Something Wicked This Way Comes,” set to air on Nov. 24. This will also feature a guest appearance from The Lord of the Rings and Planet of the Apes icon Andy Serkis, and is set to parody the works of writer Ray Bradbury.

The Simpsons fans are, naturally, sad to see her go:

But while Hayden is moving on to other projects this will not be the (untimely) end of Milhouse. The show has confirmed that Hayden’s roles will be recast, much as Dr. Hibbert and Martin Prince have been in previous years.

Even so, the core The Simpsons voice actors are no spring chickens. Homer’s voice Dan Castellaneta is 67, Marge’s voice Julie Kavner is 74, Bart’s voice Nancy Cartwright is 67, and Lisa’s voice Yeardley Smith is 60. While fans would be perfectly happy for these actors to stay in their roles forever, the steady march of time will eventually mean the show has to make some tough decisions.

The most likely option is that, as before, they’ll recast as and when they need to. The wrinkle is that the four lead Simpsons voices are so iconic any differences will be immediately spotted. The less pleasant option is that Disney opts to simply recreate their performances with A.I. Homer’s voice in particular has been very accurately replicated with A.I., so why not license it from Castellaneta and pump out new episodes until the heat death of the universe?

Until then, let’s just look back at Hayden’s best moments at Milhouse. To this day when a show or movie is taking its sweet time to get to the point we’ll whine “when are they going to get to the fireworks factory?” and, if we have a high-score chart in front of us, “Thrillho” remains an excellent choice. Godspeed you handsome little guy. Whoever’s voicing you next has some very big shoes to fill.

Right?]]>

They’ve done it again. One of the biggest mysteries of our time is how the beloved cartoon known as The Simpsons keeps predicting the future with disturbing accuracy, and now the show’s creators have hinted at the results of the presidential election.

The Simpsons has been going for 35 years and there’s no sign of it stopping yet. Since the first episode, we’ve seen all kinds of outlandish plots and crazy events, but only looking back have people noticed how scarily similar some of these plots have resembled real-world events. We saw the show predict the Trump presidency way back in 2000, we saw the show predict some elements of the COVID outbreak, and we even saw Homer predict the mass of the Higgs-Boson particle more than a decade before scientists, to name just a few famous examples.

Freaky right? Due to the sheer amount of coincidental similarities between old Simpsons episodes and real life, people have started to believe that Matt Groening and those behind the scenes are time travelers from the future — makes total sense. The show has become notorious for its accurate predictions, and now fans have spotted another prediction that could very well come true in the next few days.

The Simpsons election prediction

The season 11 episode “Bart to the Future,” (the same one that predicted the Trump presidency) may have given us another sneak peek at what we can look forward to, as we see Lisa become president and pick up after the mess of the Trump presidency. That sounds eerily similar to what’s happening right now, but the most damning piece of evidence is the fact that Lisa is wearing a purple suit with a pearl necklace that looks almost identical to one Kamala Harris was seen wearing recently.

Has The Simpsons done it again? Do they know something we don’t? Harris does have plenty of high-profile endorsements while old Donald seems to be struggling to snag the bare minimum. Given the show’s track record, I wouldn’t be surprised. Many other fans took this as further proof that the creators are time travelers, despite the fact we don’t know if they’ve made the correct prediction just yet.

Is any of this real?

I hate to be a stick in the mud, but The Simpsons is not a crystal ball. Many have already pointed out minor details that don’t quite add up, like the fact Lisa takes office after Donald Trump whereas Kamala would be taking office after Joe Biden.

Another fan pointed out that the purple suit and necklace were more likely a reference to Hillary Clinton’s outfit, which looks awfully similar.

Look, I’m not saying The Simpsons isn’t right about this one, I hope it is, but a lot of things the show “predicted” are simply cases of confirmation bias, where people have elected to ignore the parts that don’t fit in favor of the ones that do. Sometimes fact and fiction get mixed up and people believe something happened in the show without realizing it’s a fan edit. Don’t be fooled, this election isn’t in the bag, and a Kamala win isn’t guaranteed, so get out there and vote!

Monday Night Football is getting another animated spin this year, but it won’t be Andy’s toys that take the field, instead, fans can tune in to Springfield where The Simpsons cast will bring to life an showdown between the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys.

Funday Football will return on Dec. 9, 2024, for the match between the Bengals and Cowboys, but unlike the first time, this broadcast will feature voice talent from the series being used to the game to life. That’s right, Hank Azaria, Nancy Cartwright, Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, and Yeardley Smith have all shared their voices in this game which will look and sound like something right out of an episode of The Simpsons.

The alternate broadcast will see Homer Simpson representing the Cowboys while Bart sides with the Bengals team. Marge and Lisa will both be present too interviewing players during the match, and even Maggie is set to show up, so it’s a full house of Simpsons. Alongside the action on the field, there will also be animated segments during the broadcast featuring ESPN talent including Stephen A. Smith, and more.

This is the second Funday Football broadcast, but it is the first that will actually use voice talent from the franchise it is based. Last year the idea came to life with the cast of Toy Story, however, due to the WGC and SAG-AFTRA strike none of the actors you’ll recognize from the animated movies participated in the stream. This time that won’t be a problem.

Despite its lack of movie talent, the first Funday Football broadcast was a major success and even scored multiple Sports Emmys for its unique, trailblazing way of delivering the NFL to fans. It also happened to be the biggest live event to stream on Disney Plus to that point – no small achievement.

The Funday Football alternate broadcast is intended to bring the NFL to younger fans in a fresh way. The stream uses motion tracking technology to provide a live animated interpretation of what’s happening on the field at AT&T Stadium. Of course, the stadium you’ll see on this broadcast isn’t that, but instead the Atoms Stadium in Springfield.

The best part is that the broadcast will be available not just on ESPN Plus, but also Disney Plus, and NFL Plus for those who prefer mobile. It will also be accessible all around the globe in countries that include Australia, Brazil, Netherlands, Mexico, and a lot more.

If you’re a longtime NFL fan or just someone who loves The Simpsons make sure to tune into the broadcast when it kicks off on Dec. 9, 2024. If you happen to miss the broadcast while it’s live you can catch the game on demand 12 hours later on all of the same services.

You can get a taste of what’s to come by checking out the first Funday Football on the NFL YouTube channel right now.

The Simpsons is known for its uncanny ability to foresee future events, from Donald Trump‘s presidency to Disney’s purchase of Fox. But did the yellow oracles anticipate the assassination attempt on Trump?

On July 13, 2024, during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt that left him with a minor ear injury. As the news broke, social media erupted with claims that The Simpsons had once again predicted the future. Social media s, both pro and against the Republican politician, have shared images from a supposed episode where we can see the series’ version of the Orange Man in a coffin.

Republican voters were impressed about the show’s accuracy, while Democrat-aligned people claimed Trump had managed to do the unthinkable: Prove The Simpsons wrong. After all, in real life, the former President survived the attack. That would be a sight to be seen, as Trump would break a decade-long pattern and “alter the timeline,” as some people joked.

Reality is often disappointing. Regarding Trump’s canon-breaking ability, the whole thing is nothing but a rumor.

Did Donald Trump break The Simpsons’ crystal ball?

The Simpsons images circulating with claims the show has predicted the attack on the former President is not official. There hasn’t been an episode in which Trump is shot at, nor an episode in which we can see his funeral. The scene of Trump’s funeral was a fan creation originally published in 4Chan in 2017. Since then, the images have frequently resurfaced in moments of intense political tension.

The original rumor mixes scenes from an actual 2015 episode titled “Bart to The Future,” in which Bart realizes he can predict the future with astonishing accuracy. Some people were convinced the episode revolved around a politician who was supposed to be Donald Trump, even though the animated character looks nothing like the Orange Man. In the attempt to find meaning where there is none, people claimed that the word “FIE” in the episode would indicate a date if reverted. According to this reading, “FIE” would represent “313,” or March 13, 2023.

Until 2023, the rumor circulated occasionally as new reaction videos and fan art added new layers of conspiracy to the preposterous theory. We all hoped the whole thing would disappear once the promised day came, and nothing eventful happened. However, now that a Republican- shooter has attacked Trump, people have attached a fake synopsis to the random images, describing an episode that never actually existed.
There you have it. The Simpsons remain unbeatable, and not even Trump has broken the series’ record for most real events correctly predicted.

It’s rare for a cartoon to kill off one of its characters. Even rarer is when The Simpsons actually bids farewell to a relatively important character — but from time to time, it does happen, and Larry “Barfly” Dalrymple has just ed the relatively short list of the deceased.

In its 35 years on air, The Simpsons has only seen a handful of lead characters meet their end. While the actual number of characters who have ed is quite long, some deaths were more impactful than others. Off the top of my head, Edna and Fat Tony are just a couple of the characters we’ve bid goodbye to over the years, and who were actually important. But now, in season 35 episode 15, we said goodbye to Larry.

Larry Dalrymple, known simply as “Larry,” was one of the barflies who frequented Moe’s bar. He was often seen with his best friend Sam, and more often than not, he was merely a background character at the bar, not drawing much attention to himself. In fact, throughout the entire series, Larry only had two lines, and he never talked with Homer, Lenny, Carl, or Moe.

Overall, he was simply known as one of the regular barflies, drinking beer and not doing much else. Though he appeared in several episodes, he was mostly useless to the story. However, that doesn’t mean he didn’t matter to Homer or the others. In fact, as we come to find out, Larry considered the barflies his best friends, affectionately referring to them as “Moe’s bros.”

How did Larry die in The Simpsons?

Larry’s cause of death was not disclosed in the series. Initially, we see Larry at the bar, going about his day, idling away time drinking his beer. However, when Moe closes the bar, Larry is found motionless on the stoop, not blinking nor flinching. Throughout the episode, no hints are given regarding his ing, but we do learn a lot about Larry.

Despite not having any protagonism in the past 35 seasons, Larry had his first and last major role in The Simpsons in the latest episode. The barflies from Moe’s Tavern, including Moe himself, embark on a road trip to scatter Larry’s ashes after his funeral. Along the way, they encounter Iris Dalrymple, Larry’s mom, and discover that Larry loved fishing. He often shared stories about his friends from Moe’s Tavern with her and at this moment, they realize Larry considered them his best friends.

While it was undeniably a sad moment, Larry’s presence often went unnoticed by fans of the show. However, his death provided a great episode filled with funny moments and even some tearjerker scenes. Goodbye Larry, you will be missed.

What are the official lyrics to ‘Jingle Bells, Batman Smells’ and where did the song originate? https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/tv/what-are-the-official-lyrics-to-jingle-bells-batman-smells-and-where-did-the-song-originate/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/tv/what-are-the-official-lyrics-to-jingle-bells-batman-smells-and-where-did-the-song-originate/#respond Thu, 07 Dec 2023 18:22:40 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1635833 When exactly did Batman develop BO problems?]]>

Be honest, when you hear the opening to “Jingle Bells” what lyrics spring to mind first? Is it “Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way” or “Jingle Bells, Batman smells">

“Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse sloping sleigh
Joker’s on the go,
laughing all the way
The bells on Penguin’s ring
Make Riddler wanna fight
Two-Face wants to flip a coin
And sing this song tonight”

This is the verse most commonly shared around the internet, although it’s unlikely to date back to the 1960s in this specific form as, while he was created in the comics in 1942, Two-Face was never a character in the Adam West Batman show.

There you have it. Next time you hear someone sing this song, tell them the long, branching story of its origins. I guarantee it will kill the mood and the Christmas party will clear out in seconds.

Is ‘The Simpsons’ over? https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/tv/is-the-simpsons-over/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/tv/is-the-simpsons-over/#respond Tue, 31 Oct 2023 01:11:53 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1615057 Have the enduring antics of Springfield's zaniest residents finally run their course?]]>

Unsurprisingly for a television era of shock cancellations, fans of The Simpsons have long placed their bets around when the beloved animation will inevitably come to an end. Fears around the show’s conclusion are only heightened by the sheer magnitude of its longevity, with The Simpsons debuting in 1989 and airing some 700 episodes since.

That feat makes The Simpsons the longest-running American sitcom, animated series, and scripted primetime television show both in of seasons and number of episodes. With such an enduring run on television screens, it’s only natural for fans to worry that an imminent end is just around the corner. So, we’re answering definitively: Is The Simpsons over?

Is The Simpsons over?

Homer-heads, rest assured; the fate of The Simpsons is safe, at least for the next few years. In January of 2023, it was announced that the animated series was renewed through to 2025, meaning The Simpsons will sur the 800-episode mark and hit a whopping 37 seasons.

The most recent 35th season aired in October of 2023, with Kerry Washington and Elizabeth Banks appearing as guest voices, and Kylie Jenner taking on a role for the Halloween episode. It’s appearances like these that have birthed what some pundits have called The Simpsons’ renaissance, following a period of declining ratings throughout the 2010s.

All of this might point to The Simpsons’ continued run even beyond the renewal to 2025, though some involved in the antics of Springfield have commented on the series’ conclusion in the past. Hank Azaria — who voices a number of Springfield residents including Moe and Chief Wiggum — seems to think that The Simpsons could reach the 40-season milestone.

Azaria revealed in an interview that since the voices don’t age, and audiences “seem to want the show,” he can imagine The Simpsons suring 40 instalments. Looking even further into the future (a talent The Simpsons has shown a clear knack for), showrunner Al Jean spitballed some potential ending points for the animation.

In a 2021 interview, Jean — who is The Simpsons’ t showrunner alongside Matt Selman — said he plans for the show’s finale to circle back to the premiere episode. Jean said the final-ever episode should take the Simpson family back to the Christmas pageant that appeared in episode one, but said official chatter around a conclusion is not being discussed.

Jean said the “talk of ending” is not on the cards given The Simpsons’ continued success, which is more confirmation that Springfield will remain on television screens for at least a few more years to come.

How to watch ‘The Simpsons’ Treehouse of Horror 2023 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/tv/how-to-watch-the-simpsons-treehouse-of-horror-2023/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/tv/how-to-watch-the-simpsons-treehouse-of-horror-2023/#respond Mon, 30 Oct 2023 12:51:16 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1614353 Halloween just doesn't feel complete without it. ]]>

Not many things in life give us that warm, fuzzy feeling of nostalgia and coziness that evokes memories of our carefree childhood, but The Simpsons definitely belongs in that camp. It always takes us back to simpler times, and the 2023 edition of Treehouse of Horror surely won’t be any different.

You’ve probably watched the original 1990s Halloween specials episode over and over. The way Homer spins Bart and Lisa’s spooky tales is just top-notch entertainment. Every year, we’ve been treated to more Treehouse of Horror episodes, racking up 33 in total until last year. As the time approaches for The Simpsons to spook us again, fans are eagerly waiting for the episode to hit the screens. So worry not, because we’ve got you covered!

The Simpsons’ Treehouse of Horror XXXIV air date and where to watch

You can catch “Treehouse of Horror XXXIV” on FOX on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 8pm EST. If you happen to miss it, the episode will be available on Hulu the day after. Eventually, it will also be added to Disney Plus, where all the previous “Treehouse of Horror” episodes are available to watch.

If you’ve been actively watching “Treehouse of Horror” since the ’90s, you’ve probably noticed that for the first decade, episodes always hit our screens on the last day of October. However, over time, the air date has varied interchangeably. The Simpsons‘ Treehouse of Horror episode XXI was the first to air in November, after Halloween, due to the baseball and sports season being in full swing. Since then, episodes have been airing either in the last week of October or the first week of November, and this year, it’s the latter.

Despite airing just after Halloween, it still brings that spooky feeling and captures all the ‘boo-mentum.’ Personally, I’d choose Treehouse of Horror any day over baseball, but that’s just me.

It’s that wonderful time of year again. The weather’s well and truly cooling down and there’s some macabre energy in the air. Halloween is upon us – we’re stocked up on unusually pricey candy, and we’re consuming all of our favorite, and movies in TV shows to celebrate, including The Simpsonslong-running “Treehouse of Horror” specials.

Much like its predecessor last year, part of which turned to a beloved-but-sinister anime for a theme, “Treehouse of Horror XXXIV” will be an anthology of sorts. Also like in years past, there’s a little something out there for everyone – from crypto-bros to late 20th century horror lovers.

If you’re just as excited as we are for this year’s round of “Treehouse of Horror” frights, here’s everything you need to know about when and where to tune in.

When is ‘Treehouse of Horror XXXIV’ on?

“Treehouse of Horror XXXIV” will be running fashionably late to this year’s spooky season, as teased by the above post on The Simpsons’ official X (Twitter) page. The episode will be airing nearly a full week after Halloween on Nov. 5, 2023. It’s set to premiere on FOX at 8:00pm EST / 7:00pm CT. Those who have cut their cable cords long ago can catch “Treehouse of Horror XXXIV” the following day on Hulu.

While it may not air on time for Halloween 2023, we’re still looking forward to finding out whether or not this year’s offering will warrant an update to our 10 favorite “Treehouse of Horror” episodes of all time.
