The Paramount series finally tells Captain Christopher Pike’s (Anson Mount) story as he attempts to avoid his tragic fate. Wesley first appeared in the season 1 finale as an alternate version of Kirk but has since come to be a familiar face on the bridge.

Damon Salvatore — Ian Somerhalder

After breaking everyone’s hearts on Lost with the early death of his character Boone, Ian Somerhalder found solace as a long-standing lead on another series. An early antagonist of the series, Damon Salvatore goes on a long redemption arc and romance with Elena.

In recent years, Somerhalder has taken a step back from acting despite the fanaticism surrounding his character. Married to Twilight actor Nikki Reed, the two spend more time on philanthropic pursuits. Bonnie Bennett — Kat Graham

By far the character that gets the most disrespect, Bonnie spends the entirety of The Vampire Diaries saving everyone else’s lives while getting nothing in return. Though she makes it through the entirety of the series, she has to live on without the love of her life.

Graham continues to act while contributing her time to humanitarian work. Being an ambassador for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and a council member for GLAAD are only some of her charitable works.

Caroline Forbes — Candice King

Caroline Forbes is the MVP of The Vampire Diaries brand. With some of the best character development in the series, she starts as a neurotic high school student and becomes a formidable and comionate vampire. Candice King completed her run of The Vampire Diaries, while also making guest appearances on The Originals and Legacies.

Also a singer, King currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee. After the conclusion of The Vampire Diaries, she appeared in The Orville, After We Collided, and is set to appear in The Vampire Diaries showrunner Julie Plec’s new series, We Were Liars.

Jeremy Gilbert — Steven R. McQueen

Jeremy Gilbert did not have as long of a tenure on the series as other cast . As Elena’s little brother, he would often be sidelined, despite his skills as a hunter. The character has died and come back to life more than once before leaving the show altogether.

Since his run as Jeremy, he has had success in other series such as Chicago Fire and appeared sparingly in Legacies. His last acting role was in 2020.

Alaric Saltzman — Matthew Davis

Matthew Davis has also had a whirlwind experience on The Vampire Diaries. Entering season 1 as a vampire hunter looking for revenge, he becomes a surrogate father to Elena and a best friend to Damon. Davis also had an inconsistent run on the series, dying after becoming a superhuman vampire hunter. He returns in later seasons and is the lead in the spin-off, Legacies. Since the end of the series, he has had few acting roles.

Matt Donovan — Zach Roerig

Matt Donovan is the sole human of the group and somehow makes it the entire series. Portrayed by Zach Roerig, he has minimal storylines of consequence and constant questions about how he’s still alive. His biggest role following The Vampire Diaries was in the mystery series Dare Me as Sarge Will Mosley.

Tyler Lockwood — Michael Trevino

Unlike Matt, his best friend didn’t have as much of a charmed ending. Tyler Lockwood had incredible potential when the series first started. Learning that his family has werewolf genes, he does anything he can to avoid triggering the curse. However, after separating him from his relationship with Caroline, Tyler’s significance ultimately waned. He dies tragically at the hands of Damon close to the end of the series. After The Vampire Diaries, Michael Trevino had a decent run on Roswell, New Mexico which ended in 2022.

Enzo St. John — Michael Malarkey

A latecomer to The Vampire Diaries world, Michael Malarkey endeared himself to fans with his role as Enzo. Introduced as a former friend of Damon’s, he really hits his stride when he and Bonnie fall in love. The series also did him a great disservice as it yanked happiness away from him and Bonnie with his demise. Malarkey is a consistent actor who has had several episode-long runs on Westworld, Law & Order: Organized Crime, and The Night Agent.

Liz Forbes — Marguerite McIntyre

Marguerite MacIntyre warmed our hearts as Caroline’s mother Liz until her tragic demise in season 6. Her cancer diagnosis turns brutal when Caroline tries to heal her only for it to backfire. Liz was beloved among the characters, even calling Damon a friend. But that wasn’t MacIntyre’s only role in the series.

She would go on to write episodes on The Originals and Legacies before developing the short-lived vampire series, Vampire Academy, with Plec. Her most recent acting gig was on Little Fires Everywhere for one episode.

Klaus Mikaelson — Joseph Morgan

In typical The Vampire Diaries fashion Joseph Morgan wasn’t meant to last as long as he did. But after being cast in the role of Klaus in season 2, he became indispensable to the fanbase. The first hybrid, Klaus uses bloody and disturbing methods to get what he wants.

Morgan’s stunning portrayal of this monster led to a series of his own in The Originals. There, he goes on a character journey as he learns to care for his daughter. Since The Originals ended, Morgan continued to act in genre television from his stint on Titans to an arc in Paramount Plus’s Halo as James Ackerson in 2024.

Elijah Mikaelson — Daniel Gillies

Also part of the Mikaelson clan, Elijah is the moral center of the family. He first helps his brother achieve his hybrid status because of his sense of duty but later pushes the Mikaelsons to be the best versions of themselves. He s the family in The Originals and has a heartwrenching goodbye with Klaus in the final episode. Daniel Gillies continues to act in Netflix’s Virgin River and Sight Unseen.

Rebekah Mikaelson — Claire Holt

Unfairly maligned throughout her tenure in The Vampire Diaries, Rebekah is yet another tragic character. Her constant quest for love and happiness is always thrown into chaos when he brother enters the mix. On one occasion, Klaus daggers her for 90 years because he didn’t like where her allegiances were headed.

Blamed for the crimes of her family, Rebekah gets no sympathy and struggles to find her happy ending. Claire Holt is an Australian actor who gained attention for her role in teen show H20: Just Add Water. She has also had arcs in Pretty Little Liars and Aquarius.

Was the CW ever as bright as when it was host to 3 vampire-related series? Thanks to dramatic romances, imioned speeches, and genuinely frightening sequences, The Vampire Diaries helped the genre rise from the grave.

The flagship series ran for an impressive 8 seasons, spawning two spin-offs, The Originals and Legacies. Each series differed tonally from the last, giving viewers everything and anything they could ever want. Aptly named, the last series, Legacies, follows the notorious Klaus Mikaelson’s (Joseph Morgan) daughter Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) as she navigates high school at her supernatural boarding school. Unlike its protagonist, however, Legacies was not meant to live forever. Despite taking inspiration from shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the campiest way, Legacies didn’t last as long as its predecessors.

After a massive culling of CW shows including Charmed, Legends of Tomorrow, and Dynasty, Legacies also met its untimely end after season 4. This was devastating for fans as well as creators. The series did its best to wrap up events as Hope finally gets confirmation that her father has found peace in his afterlife. To salve the wounds of the show’s demise, fans can watch all the seasons on Netflix.

This abrupt ending ensured that there would be no season 5 to see how the characters handle life after high school. The only vestige of hope was the comments from the series creator, Julie Plec. Following the show’s cancellation, she spoke to Entertainment Weekly about what the next steps were.

“We’re a little sad, we’re going to take a beat, but yeah, there’s more ideas,” Plec said. “There’s more to do.”

Hopefully, the additional content she mentioned is unrelated to the failed Vampire Academy series on Peacock. The show was swiftly canceled after one season on the streaming platform. The only thing fans can hope for is that Plec’s dreams for more content in The Vampire Diaries universe become a reality.

Every now and then, we sit and wonder why some of our favorite TV characters were killed off. Similarly, there are times when it’s a mystery why a character hasn’t been given the boot yet. Surprisingly, some actors actually want to be written out of a story.

Maybe the story’s taken a weird turn, or there’s just no feasible way the character can move forward. It’s pretty hilarious thinking of an actor begging to be killed off, but it’s not as rare as you’d think. Sophie Turner wanted Sansa Stark to die a slow, painful death

While Sansa initially got on our collective nerves, she blossomed into a fierce and determined Queen in Game of Thrones. However, Sophie Turner actually wanted the Queen in the North to be written out after succeeding in her revenge mission. While chatting with Just Jared, she shared that she wanted “ a big death scene” for Sansa. “Something that will last a good episode, like poisoning, you can really drag that one out. Just a long slow death.”

The Vampire Diaries should have left Bonnie dead the first time

Kat Graham deserves a thousand and one apologies for the absolutely mindblowing mistreatment her character Bonnie received in The Vampire Diaries. After all, if Bonnie died early on, we’d have spent the rest of the show missing her fondly. Instead, the character essentially became the writers’ sacrificial lamb every other season, and my girl definitely deserved better.

You may have been Team Jess, but actor Milo Ventimiglia told E! News that he actually asked for the character to be killed off, but was denied. “I was the one who actually tried to get Jess killed, and they didn’t go for it,” he said. He wanted the character to get “hit by a bus, a knife in the side of the neck, something bad.” Definitely not the prettiest picture for fans of Stars Hollow.

Lost’s Mr. Eko was over the sandy shores of Hawaii

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s Mr. Eko will always remain one of the most iconic characters on Lost. However, the British-Nigerian actor grew tired of filming in Hawaii, especially after losing both his parents. And while the showrunners had big plans for him, his request was eventually granted, and Lost fans said goodbye to Mr. Eko in season 3.

Chyler Leigh initiated Lexie’s tragic death in Grey’s Anatomy

The year of our lord 2009 brought one of The CW’s most successful ventures in The Vampire Diaries. And what a time it was.

Vampire content was at its peak, along with skinny jeans, v-neck shirts, and forbidden love. The Vampire Diaries dynasty may have sadly come to an end, but that shouldn’t stop you from dressing as your favorite character, no matter how much the trends have changed.

Elena: The iconic necklace with flare jeans and tennis shoes

Elena (Nina Dobrev) may constantly need to be saved, makes everything about her, and is probably the most judgmental person on the face of the planet, but there is no questioning that there would be no show without her. Her style has changed over the years, but there is no look more iconic than her high school uniform of jeans and v-neck with Converse. What vampire could resist? Just make sure to add her vervain necklace to complete the look.

Stefan: Leather jacket and button down shirt

Can you really call yourself a Salvatore if you don’t rock a leather jacket? Even the quote-unquote safer brother has a look that implies danger. Sometimes paired with a tank top underneath, Stefan (Paul Wesley) usually wears some type of button-down shirt. This look communicates he’s a vampire but respectable. Pair any one of these looks with some dark jeans, and you’re ready to hit the street as Stefan Salvatore.

Damon: Leather jacket and John Varvatos

In the immortal words of Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) following Stefan shoving a piece of wood through his chest: “That’s John Varvatos. Dick move.” 

The brand name was so prevalent in the series that it was written into the script. Costume designer Jennifer Bryan explained to Entertainment Weekly that she loved dressing the boys in it, even Damon’s leather jacket. To make any Damon look complete, fans should get the Varvatos treatment. And of course, as it is the Salvatore way, a leather jacket completes the ensemble. Damon also includes black boots to ensure viewers know he’s the bad boy of the family.

Caroline: Jacket over summer dresses

It takes some time for Caroline (Candace King) to come into herself, but once she does, her wardrobe expands. After being turned into a vampire by Katherine (Dobrev), Caroline becomes more confident in how she dresses and carries herself. Whether at one of the countless Founding Families’ parties or ripping someone’s throat out, she can be seen in a flowy summer dress with a stylish jacket accompanying it. Caroline has the best character arc of the series and the wardrobe to match.

Tyler: Atheltic wear and t-shirts

Most likely the easiest outfit to replicate, Tyler is rarely seen off the basketball court or football field. His athletic wear comes in handy, especially on full moons when he can’t control what he turns into. During school hours, you would be hard-pressed to find him out of a classic t-shirt and casual wear combo.

Katherine: Skinny jeans and high-heeled boots

No matter what the youths of today say, Katherine’s fashion is beyond reproach. Skinny jeans will never go out of style as long as this psychotic vampire is running around. She usually pairs this look with a variety of high-heeled boots (knee-high or ankle-high), black of course. Throw on a tank top or a leather jacket and you’re off to the races. When telling the doppelgängers apart, look no further than the ‘fits. Katherine’s fashion outmatches Elena’s any day of the week.

Bonnie: Earth-tone jackets and jeans

Bonnie’s (Kat Graham) fashion has changed the most out of all the other characters. She starts the series wearing flowy tops and more of a witchy, bohemian look, but her outfits become more streamlined as time goes on. She can clean up better than the rest of them, but her casual looks are perhaps the best. In the final seasons of her sadly short-lived life with Enzo (Michael Malarkey), Bonnie preferred a more casual look. She is often seen pairing olive and earth-tone jackets with pants or jeans. Perhaps a reaction from living in a ‘90s prison world, but it is classic nonetheless.

Jeremy: Tank top and a hoodie

Starting out as Elena’s kid brother, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) comes into his own throughout the life of The Vampire Diaries. He finds his way into the world of vampires on his own and once he does, he flourishes as a character. Unlike Elena, he takes his fate into his own hands, trains, and becomes adept with weaponry. And still, he dresses like the teenager he is. He starts his journey with the classic long-sleeve shirt over a short-sleeved shirt. In later seasons, he cultivates his look even further. Never without his sleeveless shirt and a hoodie, Jeremy is always at the ready to behead a hybrid.

Alaric: Blazer and boot-cut jeans

The rare adult of the group, Alaric (Matthew Davis) has to dress the part. By day he is a high school — later college — teacher and by night, a vampire hunter. His business casual look is good for any occasion, be he alive, dead, or the dad of teenage witches. Day or night, he can be seen in a dark blazer with jeans to match.

Klaus: Henley shirts and leather jackets

Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) changes up the classic villain look, not just with a leather jacket, but by adding a button-down shirt. Early depictions of the character included a collection of necklaces, but that was an accessory later dispensed with. On The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, Klaus often sports dark colors whether it be casual or when he cleans up for a ball or event.

Rebekah: Tank tops and pleather jacket

The cold doesn’t bother an Original vampire like Rebekah Mikaelson (Claire Holt). Usually armed with a tank top and a witty verbal barb, Rebekah is the anti-heroine we all deserve. To complete her look, she will oftentimes pair her outfits with a flashy jacket when she’s on her brother’s payroll or just looking for love.

Elijah: Three-piece suit

If Elijah Mikaelson (Daniel Gillies) abides by any credo, it’s that the suit makes the man. Defined by a code of ethics, Elijah always pairs his honor with a formal look. Whether it be at a high society function or just out on the town, the Original brother makes a statement with how he dresses. Out of all his bloodthirsty siblings, he is the one to be trusted.

Enzo: Leather jacket and dark shirts

Though trapped in a torture chamber for 50 years, Enzo doesn’t lose his sense of style. Like the rest of his vampire brethren, he utilizes the leather jacket well. His twist on it is accessorizing with rings and form-fitting shirts. Through in an acoustic guitar and you’re ready to hit Comic-Con in your Enzo cosplay.

Long before Ian Somerhalder was the bad brother in The Vampire Diaries, he was in a little thing called Lost. The series was arguably the biggest phenomenon on television at the time, no matter what its legacy remains today.

This fact has to do with profound storytelling, and the connections the characters make. Even those characters fans spent little time with endeared themselves to the audience, and their respective deaths hit like a punch to the gut. Boone Carlyle (Somerhalder) was the first big death of the series which was the direct result of one of the other characters. For a large part of the season, Boone and island devotee, John Locke (Terry O’Quinn) sneak off the jungle to uncover the truth behind a mysterious hatch.

On one such occasion, while tromping in the jungle, they come upon a small Beechcraft airplane crashed precariously in the trees. Locke is having a bout of temporary paralysis, and convinces Boone to investigate the craft. While inside, Boone finds a radio and is so intent on calling for help, he is unable to escape the plane when it crashes to the ground. But that isn’t what signs his death warrant. His fate is sealed when Locke carries him back to the beach, and lies about how Boone sustained his injuries.

Jack (Matthew Fox) does what he can when Locke tells him Boone only fell from a great height. But later, about the time that Jack is considering amputating Boone’s leg, is it obvious this is a lie. Had Jack known that Boone was crushed, he could have come to this treatment plan earlier. Instead, Boone succumbs to his internal injuries. Most devastating of all are Boone’s final words to the doctor. Jack has a compulsion to fix everything and promises he will fix Boone. But the young man understands in the final minutes of the episode that this is impossible, telling Jack:

“I know you made me a promise. I’m letting you off the hook.”

This was the first major casualty of the series, and only a precursor of what is to come. Lost is full of characters we all love who die in the most devastating ways. And it all started with one little white lie.

She’s been involved with the WE movement, a Canadian-based charity that empowers youths, for over a decade (she hosted WE events in 2011), and she partnered with the Elton John AIDS Foundation in 2019. She also runs a wine brand with dancer Julianne Hough under the name Fresh Vine Wine.

She discussed her ion for charitable organizations during the aforementioned profile with Numero Magazine:

I’m so empathetic and I feel so much that I tend to lend my voice to a lot of different organizations. I feel equally ionate about so many of them. I was bullied growing up, so obviously any kind of organization that teach[es] kids to be a little bit kinder to each other hits close to home for me.”

More recently, Nina Dobrev was involved in a serious biking accident. She posted photos of her hospital stay on Instagram, which saw her don a neckbrace and a knee brace. “I think it’s safe to say my first time on a dirt bike will also be my last,” she wrote on the platform. “I’m okay, but it’s going to be a long road of recovery ahead.”

Numerous celebrities have reached out to show their for Dobrev, who will next been seen in the comedy film Reunion (she’s already wrapped production). We wish her a speedy recovery.

An epic love triangle, vampire brothers, a girl who wonders whether she can love them both, and a town that seems to attract the supernatural; The Vampire Diaries is a series that has it all, and fans still can’t get enough of it to this day. Damon and Stefan Salvatore are the epitome of everyone’s “dream guy,” and Elena Gilbert is the lucky lady whom both of them love.

The Damon/Stefan/Elena love triangle, explained

Both Damon and Stefan knew Elena for several lifetimes, or so it seemed; in their initial love affair with Katherine Pierce, both brothers saw Elena and were sure their lost love had returned. Upon meeting her, it was clear that she was someone else entirely, but their attraction didn’t dissipate — it magnified instead.

It’s like they were meeting the love of their lives for the first time all over again, discovering a new version of herself and her magic.

As dedicated fans of The Vampire Diaries know, defining when Damon and Elena first got together isn’t an easy task. While fans quickly drew a line between being on Team Stefan or Team Damon, Elena explored her draw to both brothers; Damon and Stefan each brought out a very different side of her, and she wanted to embrace them both.

“It’s okay to love them both; I did,” Katherine told Elena during season 2 — and it’s an idea she carried with her throughout the series. Ultimately, Elena ended up with Damon, and while some of us have strong feelings about that — I’m still very much Team Stefan, thank you — it was a beautiful love story to witness.

Elena’s need to be near Damon began long before they officially chose one another, and their first kiss solidified that, which is something even a strong er of Stefan can it to. So, to correctly answer the question of when they got together, we’ve got to look back at how their relationship evolved across every season of The Vampire Diaries.

Season 1 (and their first big trip)

Damon entered The Vampire Diaries as the ultimate bad guy; he was vengeful, hateful, and seemed to revel in causing pain. Damon hid behind a façade he built for himself and was an easy character to dislike. He used Elena’s friends to get close to her, went out of his way to make his brother’s life miserable, and almost gave away their big secret because he simply didn’t care.

Or so it seemed; Damon actually cared a lot, underneath the surface, of course. As the series progressed, viewers began to understand him a little bit better, and as we uncovered a new side of Damon, Elena did too.

The pair took a trip to help Elena deal with everything unfolding before her, and they quickly began forming a close bond. It was a critical step in their future, laying the groundwork for the couple they would eventually become.

The pair also had an epic dance moment in the first season, when Stefan was so blood-thirsty that he couldn’t share the spotlight with his date. Damon saw his absence and moved in to save the day, and even if you are still on Team Stefan (we get it), you can’t deny the beauty and the chemistry they shared at that moment.

Where Elena ebbed, Damon flowed, and it is a stand-out moment — not just within The Vampire Diaries, but in the entirety of pop culture.

Damon, however, was still up to his antics — and Elena would soon continue her relationship with Stefan. Stefan was a safe place for Elena; he brought her a sense of comfort and comion that was unmatched.

Season 2 (and the sort-of first kiss)

Damon and Elena had their first kiss in the second season, so it’s clearly a vital moment for their future — but it wasn’t the epic first kiss that some fans anticipated. This kiss was during a pivotal moment for Damon; he thought he was dying (the forever kind of dying), and he confessed his love for Elena. Telling her that he knew it would always be Stefan for her, he still wanted Elena to know how much he loved her.

After telling him she knew, she planted a sweet peck on his lips.

While season 2 focused heavily on Stefan and Elena, that kiss would become a significant part of her story.

Season 3 (and Damon feels guilty)

The porch is a special place for Damon and Elena, and there are a few moments in season 3 where they genuinely thrive. One is when the two share a special kiss after Damon says he’s tired of feeling guilty for wanting Elena. Instead of just wanting her, he decides to make a move — may as well give himself something to feel guilty about, right?

Their chemistry is off the charts, and even though we’re Team Stefan, we can’t deny the bond they’ve formed throughout the seasons. A lot of season 3 sees Damon and Elena trying to get back to Stefan, and even Damon helping the two get back together, but with Stefan acting very much unlike the guy she fell in love with, she draws even closer to Damon.

The two share more than one kiss through the third season, and their feelings grow stronger with each moment they share. Season 3 was a definite turning point for the pair, but they were still just friends at this point — even if they both wanted more. Elena still loved Stefan; was it really okay to love them both? She chose to be with Stefan, and a moment later, her life changed.

Season 4 (it’s official)

Elena became a vampire in season 4, and as with any vampire, it heightened everything she was feeling, including her feelings for Damon. She left Stefan to be with Damon, and they were on fire; however, Damon began to doubt Elena’s feelings for him. Why the sudden change? Viewers discover that Elena is sired to Damon, and he wants her love for him to be pure and of her own discretion.

It eats away at Damon for a long time, but Elena’s feelings don’t change. She loves Damon; she has always felt something for him, and it almost seemed that in season 2, when Katherine told her it was okay to love them both, she let that guard down and did just that. She loved Damon, too.

Later in season 4, Elena does confess her love to Damon, even after the sire bond is broken. The two share an intimate kiss in front of a fireplace, and it’s the epic moment Delena fans had always hoped for, the moment she made her final choice. Elena picked Damon; they were endgame.

Season 5 and beyond (it’s a forever kind of thing)

While the two have ups and downs, they remain a strong couple in season 5. They attempt to leave one another, citing silly reasons that never actually keep them apart, before running back home. They’re in love, they’re bonded, and they’re living their dream. Of course, things don’t stay happily ever after for long, and season 6 brings Damon’s “death” (he’s actually trapped in another realm) which breaks Elena.

She wants to be rid of all memories of him, asking for her love for Damon to be erased, but as the series progresses, we see that she can’t escape him.

The two reunite in season 6, and she’s forgotten all of their beautiful times together, ing only Damon’s shortcomings, but it doesn’t take long for the two to fall head over heels in love again. Their love is so powerful that it even survives Elena’s comatose state as she’s tethered to Bonnie.

Of course, that undying love didn’t mean it was easy for Damon to exist without Elena. In fact, he made some choices that left fans shaking their heads, and he was in a state of turmoil without her. Aside from Stefan, Elena was the one person who knew him in all of his forms — the one who gave him hope for tomorrow. Without the light in his life, he didn’t strive to avoid darkness.

While Elena is only present for one episode of the final season, it’s an impactful one. She appears in the series finale of The Vampire Diaries, and her reunion with Damon is next level. He was meant to forget their memories, but his heart kept her close. Damon loved Elena despite anything in the world that worked against them — natural or supernatural.

The final episode also sees the couple making an important decision — to become human again. They want to live out the rest of their natural lives together, enjoying the world as a family and having a family — eventually growing old together. Growing old doesn’t happen for vampires; they remain the age they were when they were turned. The cure helped them get another chance at life.

A flash-forward shows Damon and Elena, surrounded by loved ones, married in their human forms. The ring on Elena’s hand proves the two took the steps they’d always dreamed of. It was a proper ending to a long-running series, and while Team Stefan fans always hoped it would be him at the end, Damon and Elena made sense. This happily ever after came true.

High schoolers encountering life and love in a small supernatural town has been a trope for a long time. From Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Teen Wolf, these fictional places are essential beacons for supernatural activity, and The CW’s The Vampire Diaries is no different.

In the show, Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) must choose between two equally (but so different) hunky vampire brothers, and since the town of Mystic Falls is constantly plagued by vampires, it isn’t exactly a place you’d want to settle down in. Because of Elena’s affinity for bad romantic choices ⏤ i.e. getting together with Damon (Ian Somerhalder) ⏤ and her role as a doppelgänger, she constantly endangers her friends and family to the point that everyone around her tends to die if they’re not dead already.

Elena’s closest friend and confidante, Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) is arguably the most powerful witch in the area, but even she has had brushes with death a time or two.

Does Bonnie die at the end of season 4?

Bonnie has been a long-suffering character since The Vampire Diaries’ first episode. As soon as she discovers that she’s a witch, she seems to always be volunteered for dirty work that lands her close to danger. One of the first instances of this is in season 2 when it appears that Original vampire, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) kills her while in Alaric’s (Matthew Davis’) body. Twist! She wasn’t dead, she just faked her death so she could surprise Klaus at the end of the season. But after too many close calls to count, Bonnie officially dies in the season 4 finale.

Similar to how her grandmother died, Bonnie’s excessive use of magic ultimately kills her. After multiple episodes of mourning the death of Elena’s brother, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen), Bonnie communicates with the supernatural purgatory known as the Other Side and finds a way to reanimate her dead boyfriend. The strain is too much, however, and she essentially switches places with Jeremy. Jeremy can walk amongst the living again while Bonnie is resorted to the life of a ghost.

But since this is Mystic Falls we’re talking about, death doesn’t necessarily mean forever. There are tragic deaths like Elena’s aunt Jenna (Sara Canning), which is permanent, but where would the ragtag group of supernatural teenagers be without Bonnie? She’s too important to stay dead forever, but the question remains: how does she return to her close-knit group of friends? The answer is complicated.

How does Bonnie return after her death?

Bonnie’s will to live is strong, as is Jeremy’s wish to reunite with his girlfriend. Because Jeremy was once dead himself, he can speak to Bonnie when no one else can, but he is the only one she is in with. On the Other Side, supernatural creatures can’t interact with each other, so there is no hope in Bonnie seeing Grams (Jasmine Guy). It’s a lonely prospect that motivates the young witch even more to come back to life. Finally, she gets her chance, but it’s never easy. Bonnie can’t simply transport back into her decomposing body. Through a lot of trickery, the characters realize they can bring Bonnie back if she becomes the anchor to the Other Side.

The supernatural purgatory exists because the spell that holds it together is sealed by someone half in and half out of the world. This honor first went to Elena’s original doppelgänger, Amara, who eventually had enough of this job. Bonnie takes her place and becomes the thing that holds the Other Side together. The only issue? Bonnie has to experience the death of every supernatural being as they on to the ghostly plane. She feels what they feel at the moment of their death, and unfortunately, it seems that there are a lot more supernatural creatures than one might think. The other downside is that Bonnie can’t practice witchcraft anymore since her transformation into the anchor. Luckily, her fate doesn’t last forever. After the Other Side collapses, Bonnie regains her magic and thankfully remains alive.

This is only one tale of Bonnie’s that is full of tragedy. She probably suffers the most in the series, and all she wants to do is not be involved in the vampire business. Even after Dobrev left The Vampire Diaries, her character’s struggles continue, but at least she remains alive at the end of the series.

If there is one man who has the finger on the pulse of love triangles, it should be Paul Wesley. After a sensible career in episodic television, the actor gained fanatical popularity for his role as eternal 17-year-old Stefan Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries. For 8 seasons, Stefan and his brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder) defy the odds to protect their sometimes human, sometimes vampire girlfriend Elena (Nina Dobrev) from unspeakable evil. The series became a benchmark for love triangles — for better or for worse.

But despite his experience in the area, the newest love triangle phenomenon has not reached his radar. Amazon Prime’s The Summer I Turned Pretty features another girl thrown between two brothers and her impossible choice. Apart from vampirism, the two shows are essentially each other’s equal, though Welsey wouldn’t know it. When fans asked him about his preference between Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), the actor quipped, “What is this, Bible teams?” However, since then, he has cultivated a slightly more researched answer when talking to People. 

During the 20th Anniversary celebration for the Tennis Channel, Wesley confirmed that he had heard of the show, though two sides of the triangle did escape him. 

“I definitely don’t have a side yet,” he added. “I’ll try to figure that out.” Somerhalder, who was also at the event for their Brothers Bourbon partnership, chimed in similar confusion, but added he would watch the series with his onscreen brother.

To Wesley’s credit, 8 years was a long time to be embroiled in the exhausting Stefan-Elena-Damon drama of The Vampire Diaries. The two brothers’ quest to win the heart of a human girl in Virginia was at times baffling when the show was stacked with far more compelling characters than the object of their affection. In The Summer I Turned Pretty, Belly (Lola Tung) has much more agency than Elena and a truly extraordinary love story in season 2. The Vampire Diaries will always be a teen drama institution, but Wesley shouldn’t be involved in every conversation surrounding romance. The actor has always been transparent about his appreciation for the show, and readiness to move on. His recent work has been tackling another brand of franchise characters in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Appearing in the season 1 finale as an alternate timeline Captain Kirk, Wesley appears now and again throughout season 2 as different variations of the character. As the timeline of Strange New Worlds moves closer to the era of The Original Series, it seems more and more likely that the show will bring Wesley in full-time. Playing a myriad of doppelgängers and humanity-less vampires has prepared Wesley for portraying a wide variety of roles.

Hundreds upon hundreds of TV shows have ed through The CW in the nearly two decades since it took over for the WB in 2006, but only a handful of those shows will go down in history as the network’s most popular. The Vampire Diaries — based on the book series of the same name by L. J. Smith — is one such show. Its legions of fans stuck around for eight full seasons, from 2009 to 2017, but its main lead, Paul Wesley, its he was already losing steam about halfway through. 

Speaking with Michael Rosenbaum on his podcast Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, Wesley its he was “so tired and so exhausted” that he stopped interacting with coworkers on set. 

“It’s such a grind doing a show for so long. I , like, there were days I just got very — I did the opposite. I just wouldn’t interact, I was just so tired and so exhausted. I would do my job, say my lines, I always knew what I was doing, I always knew my lines, but I didn’t interact as much and that’s something I regret. 

“I wish I was a little bit more like ‘You know what? We’re all here, we’re all family’ and I didn’t take it as seriously as I did. That’s the one thing I kind of wish I did.”

Wesley’s response was prompted by Rosenbaum’s personal experience sharing his desire for keeping morale high on set through cracking jokes, entertaining crew , and ensuring everyone had a good time. A series lead’s influence carries weight on the set, but, as Rosenbaum explained, it can also lead to burnout, to which Wesley could relate. 

Wesley did clarify that this didn’t persist throughout the whole time he starred on the show, just “toward the ends ‘cause I was just so exhausted.” In all honestly, the fact that his biggest regret is wishing he’d given his colleagues more time and attention underlines why the fandom ired him so much in the first place. 

The Vampire Diaries concluded its 171st episode on March 10, 2017, two seasons after Nina Dobrev left the show as Elena Gilbert. Although it saw some road bumps along the way, it concluded its final season with a perfect 100% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. It also inspired The CW spin-off series — The Originals — which also saw several of its own 100% critic scores on Rotten Tomatoes.

Actor Joseph Morgan has surprising details about Titans and The CW’s Legacies no one knew about.

Morgan plays fan favorite Niklaus Mikaelson in The Originals, a hybrid who was born a werewolf and turned into a vampire by magic rather than from the classic vampire bite. Legacies is the spinoff series following his daughter Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) who attends a school attended by the progeny of other supernatural beings. Legacies ended its run in season four and Morgan confirmed on Twitter how his appearance in the heartfelt finale ran into his new Titans gig.

It must have been unexpected to say goodbye to one character while saying hello to another in Titans. In the DC show, Morgan plays Sebastian Sanger/Brother Blood. An awkward taxidermist who has dreams of selling the interactive video game he’s developed. Luck isn’t on Sanger’s side, however, as a string of unfortunate events plague the man and could send him down a darker path.

His portrayal as this new character has been one of the most anticipated parts of Titans season four. He seemed like the perfect casting to play Brother Blood, a classic Teen Titans villain who leads the Cult of Blood, but he’s said that he wanted to be very careful about how he approached the character. Morgan took his time in helping develop his backstory so that audiences could empathize with him before he makes that villainous turn.

Sebastian isn’t the only person dealing with some heavy issues. Superboy gets an invite to meet Superman and all doesn’t go as planned. Lex Luthor (Titus Welliver) is there and he has other intentions for the Boy of Steel that could also push him to the darker side if he’s not careful.

The Titans are investigating a series of deaths revolving around the occult. Some of them are having strange visions and Raven’s powers have grown by leaps and bounds, but the villainess Mother Mayhem (Franka Potente) is determined to bring about darkness and stop the Titans from succeeding.
