The Netflix version of Snyderverse is quite... unstable. ]]>
<![CDATA[

Halloween has ed, and Netflix has been taking things slow for the past week — or at least that’s what it feels like. Lately, the platform hasn’t made any life-altering changes to its library and that’s not necessarily bad — it just means that you might need to settle for less. Or at least make peace with the lackluster content that has been put out, as was the case for the action film, Wingwomen. 6y2s1k

Thankfully, if you’re a fan of films and shows that are so bad that they’re good, Netflix has a basket full of options for you. From Damsel to Hurricane Season, there are plenty of shows and films proudly embracing their mediocrity for a fun watch. Nonetheless, we still have some gossip to share as the Snyderverse once again says goodbye to a project. Unexpected, but there’s still a light at the end of the tunnel for Snyder fans.

Wingwomen finally reaches the platform, expectedly becoming a ginormous success 382w4b

We’ve long been campaigning for the success of Wingwomen. Following the absolute powerhouses hailing from Spain and South Korea, it was only obvious that the female-led action movie from would receive the same treatment. The only difference is that, unlike Lupin, Wingwomen is has been deemed mediocre and lackluster. Let’s be honest, that doesn’t seem to matter though because it is by far the biggest movie premiere of the week. Allons-y, – take two.

The Snyderverse says goodbye to Army of the Dead for good but Rebel Moon isn’t going anywhere 2n6x

One could have never imagined that Army of the Dead, backed by the likes of Netflix and Zack Snyder, would be on the list of casualties in the future. If Netflix can pride itself on anything, it’s at being absolutely unexpected — and that it has been. The zombie blockbuster film was destined to be one of the platform’s biggest original movies, with an entire universe planned for the future, but sadly, it was scrapped before it could even produce a tangible result.

In a positive twist in the Snyderverse news, however, Rebel Moon was confirmed to be a part of the Army of the Dead universe, and it is surely not expected to go anywhere anytime soon. Any fans expecting to see the actual results of this new spiderweb of zombie entanglements will need to settle for Rebel Moon, Army of Thieves, and Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas. Hopefully, Twilight of the Gods will get the memo, and persevere.

Damsel is the original blockbuster that never saw the light of day… until now 1835s

A long, long time ago, we heard of a mythical Millie Bobby Brown dragon-slaying epic that was in the works. Until it wasn’t. Back in March, it was officially removed from release calendars, with little hope for fans. But good news comes to those who wait, and the world has finally received confirmation that Brown is returning for Damsel.

The timely announcement comes right after Stranger Things day has ended, surprising fans with the unexpected but welcome news that no one saw coming – but they ended up here anyway. Even if you have to wait until 2024.

Hurricane Season becomes the one mystery thriller on the platform to debut as a flop 126r1q

We’ve all seen Haunting of the Hill House, Lupin, Dark, and How to Get Away With Murder. What do they have in common, you might ask? Well, they are all mystery thrillers backed by the largest streaming platform of all time. And yet, Hurricane Season is defying the successful pattern created by Netflix by achieving the unachievable: Never debuting in the top 10 since its release on Nov. 1. At least the show can pride itself on carrying a legacy never achieved before.

All the Light We Cannot See is this week’s top selection all over the world 6x464f

We can at least end Wednesday with some good news: All the Light We Cannot See was the undeniable front-runner of this week’s episodic Olympics. Adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name, the series just arrived on Netflix, and whether it was due to lackluster contenders or the fact that it managed to build a fanbase, it became the most-watched show of the week, notching 37.6 million views. It might make a good November watch, if you can overlook the Rotten Tomatoes score.

Viewership is rarely matched by enthusiasm from the audience.]]>

Is it too much to ask for Netflix to start knocking out high-octane action thrillers that aren’t unstoppably average on such a regular basis? Sure, they always capture the attention of subscribers and fare irably by the all-important data metrics, but Wingwomen will no doubt be forgotten by this time next month.

ittedly, there was hope that star and director Melanie Laurent’s heist caper would buck the trend, but that was based almost entirely on the fact the French-language original wasn’t a Hollywood production, and it wouldn’t be unjust to say that the streaming service’s best actioners almost always hail from international shores.

Of course, it doesn’t really matter what the critics think as long as people are watching, so lukewarm responses across the board, an average 50 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and a 56 score on the aggregation site hasn’t done anything to prevent Wingwomen from debuting as the single most-watched new feature on the platform over the last week.

By notching 35.7 million hours viewed and 18.5 million views in total, the frivolous escapade that finds two best friends recruiting a third member of their team to pull off one last job before they retire from the game altogether has outstripped the equally-tedious thriller Locked In to be anointed as the biggest movie to have premiered on Netflix within the last seven days.

One monotonous exclusive beating out another is hardly something worth celebrating, but it doesn’t matter how banal the genre flicks tend to be, subscribers are going to keep on watching them regardless.

Here we go again...]]>
<![CDATA[

There’s no shame in itting being wrong, so we’ve got no choice but to hold our hands up after outlining hopes and dreams that Wingwomen would avoid the pitfalls to have blighted so many original Netflix action movies.

In fairness, that was based entirely on the fact it was a high-octane thriller that didn’t hail from Hollywood, and history has shown countless times over that emanating from outside Tinseltown often yields the streaming service’s best fast-paced shoot ’em ups.

Unfortunately, respective – and identical – Rotten Tomatoes approval ratings of 50 percent from critics and audiences underline that star and director Melanie Laurent’s latest is about the living definition of aggressively average. It’s an exclusive actioner at the end of the day, though, so it’s still soared straight towards the top of the global charts.

Per FlixPatrol, Wingwomen has debuted on the Top 10 in 82 countries around the world since premiering, placing it third on the worldwide watch-list for feature films. Ironically, that put it just one nation shy of sultry thriller Locked In, which in turn sneaked ahead of it on the rankings by a solitary place.

Two longtime best friends recruiting a third member for their all-female heist crew to pull off the standard “one last job” sounds remarkably uninspired on paper, and based on how tepid the reactions have been, that’s turned out to be the case when it comes to execution, too. Consistency has never been Netflix’s strong suit in the action arena, so the banality of Wingwomen isn’t even that much of a shock.

Soccer, Halloween and price raises. What else could we want?]]>
<![CDATA[

What truly makes October the Fall month of our dreams? Is it the overrated pumpkin spiced latte, the fallen leaves, or the winter closet cleanse? Well, technically, all of the above… if it weren’t for the icing on the cake – spooky movies. Nothing screams ‘”Fall is nigh” quite like an unsettling case of nightmares caused by some scary horror films. The good thing is, Netflix has got you covered.

But that’s not all the streaming service is planning on doing. Far from it, in fact. Aside from bringing Umbrella Academy back for a new season, the streaming giant is also set to debut a sizable number of series – some of which come from its latest deal with HBO. It’s quite a bold and daring move for the streamer, but for once, we’re actually thankful for these unexpected decisions. Unfortunately, they come at a price, and you’ll soon come to know all about that.

To kick off today’s news, we have none other than this week’s undeniable frontrunner: Nowhere. Despite debuting at the same time as the crime drama Reptile – which was far more internationally friendly due to being in English – the Spanish historical drama still took the lead. Headed by Spanish actress Anna Castillo and Tamar Novas, the story has already amassed 43.2 million hours and 23.8 million views since its debut alone. The Iberian peninsula power is now noticeable all across the platform.

Some may argue that Christmas is, in fact, the best time of the year, but we at WeGoThisCovered are here to convince you that nothing really beats a good horror or spooky flick. In fact, it appears that Netflix’s audience wholeheartedly agrees with us, especially considering how Don’t Kill Me has surged back onto the charts two years after its release. Despite not receiving the best reviews on Rotten Tomatoes nor excelling in any particular way, it seems that vengeance and bloodthirsty themes are enough to resurrect even the most underrated of films.

Not exactly in the Halloween theme, the streaming giant is also investing in more than just horror resurrections. In fact, after the successes of Nowhere, and European hits like La Casa de Papel and Rabo de Peixe, Netflix is also broadening its international offerings, with Wingwomen next in line. This heist thriller is already turning heads with its new trailer. Apart from the alluring French language, the film was also written by Inglourious Basterds star Mélanie Laurent. Allez, !

While he may be a soccer icon and undoubtedly eye-catching, David Beckham just doesn’t hold the same allure when we have a new season of Sex Education to dive into. In an unexpected turn of events, Beckham’s latest docu-series, aptly titled Beckham, was actually severely overshadowed by several other titles. Most notably, Sex Education, which premiered last week, followed by Liebes Kind (or Dear Child, for you English-only fans), and even the month-old One Piece. While it still offered us new insights into the life of one of the most celebrated football players of all time, it seems that fun facts just don’t cut it.

While the week is heading in the right way, Netflix had to find a way to compensate for all the new additions, purchases, and international agenda – of course. After all, what better way to celebrate the ending of the SAG strike than to ensure the actors are paid fairly at last? Unsurprisingly, the only way the multinational company found to pay its employees is by allegedly raising the prices – again.

According to several reports, the company will be raising the price of the ad-free plan, which currently stands at $15.49. The streamer has yet to confirm the actual prince increase and its amount, but all Netflix s better get ready for a general hefty increase. Especially if you’re also abiding by Disney Plus’ and Warner Bros. Discovery’s recent price rise. There is just no winning against capitalism.

It's a general statement, but also incredibly accurate.]]>
<![CDATA[

Whenever Netflix reveals to the world that a high-powered heist thriller boasting splashy set pieces and a recognizable star, you can almost guarantee on mediocrity being the end result. However, the first trailer for Wingwomen stands a good chance of bucking that trend, if only for one major reason.

As we’ve seen countless times over through the likes of 6 Underground, The Gray Man, Red Notice, Heart of Stone, and most recently Reptile, the streaming service’s Hollywood efforts carrying big budgets, high concepts, and an air of criminality more often than not live to disappoint.

On the other hand, the platform’s international actioners – and genre films in general – tend to fare much better among critics, so it’s okay to feel positive about Wingwomen for the express purpose of the film hailing from . Not only that, but Inglourious Basterds star Mélanie Laurent writes and directs, with the actress having plenty of previous with the company through the aforementioned 6 Underground and acclaimed sci-fi thriller Oxygen.

The story – which finds two expert thieves and longtime BFFs recruiting a third member of their team to assist in the fabled “one last job” – sounds derivative and formulaic, but the trailer looks decent enough. Free from the shackles of Stateside excesses that often yield over-indulgence and under-performance, Wingwomen might be one well worth keeping an eye on as it edges closer to releasing on Nov. 1.

Of course, there’s a chance it might suck immeasurably hard, but we’re keen to give Netflix’s international offerings the benefit of the doubt based on nothing but history.
