The Last of Us: Part III might be coming sooner than we expected 5p61m

One of Naughty Dog’s next games might be a follow-up to The Last of Us: Part II, with rumors pointing to The Last of Us: Part III being in development. The story comes from a tweet by ViewerAnon which you can see above. Of course, Naughty Dog’s co-president Neil Druckmann last spoke about the Last of Us multiplayer game as their project so that will probably be released before The Last of Us: Part III.

Neil Druckmann has said in the past that he does have an idea for The Last of Us: Part III, so it is undoubtedly being worked on in some capacity. But if this tweet is indeed accurate, then it might be coming to PlayStation 5 a little sooner than fans might have originally thought. Of course, both Abby and Ellie made it out of The Last of Us: Part II so there are definitely places the third game could go, but we will have to wait and see.

A live-action God of War series is coming to Amazon 81x2k

A live-action God of War series has been picked up at Amazon. The series is being developed for Amazon Prime Video by Rafe Judkins (The Wheel of Time) who will serve as showrunner, while it will be written by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby who both wrote Iron Man, Children of Men, and The Expanse. Thankfully the series will not be based on the original God of War games as a raging God of War might not make for entertaining television.

Instead, the series will be based on the 2018 game, which saw Kratos travel to the Norse Realms, start a new family, and raise his son after his wife es away. It is currently unknown whether or not the actors who portrayed the characters in the video games will reprise their roles in the series, or have any role whatsoever, but we can hope.

SUPER NINTENDO WORLD has gotten an opening date 5x6e6k

SUPER NINTENDO WORLD is coming to Universal Studios Hollywood and it will be opening on Feb. 17, 2023. Of course, the Japanese counterpart of Super Nintendo World is already open but now the United States will be able to immerse themselves in the Mario experience. The park includes a Mario Kart-themed ride, interactive Question Blocks, a Toad-themed restaurant, and plenty of iconic locations and characters from the Mario franchise for you to interact with. You can read more about the park here.

Take that Betty White and Queen Elizabeth II.]]>
<![CDATA[

Google has released the results of its “Year in Search” for 2022, and one supremely addictive browser game is sitting comfortably at the top of the U.S. charts. At the beginning of the year, the minimal brainteaser Wordle began to skyrocket in popularity, with its single puzzle per day and ease of sharing results with friends spreading like wildfire across the world.

The game first launched in October 2021, with creator Jeff Wardle wanting to make something for him and his partner to play together. The game’s popularity picked up speed in December, and by January the world was hooked. Wardle was promptly approached by The New York Times with a seven-figure sum to purchase Wordle and understandably sold up, with the game now at home on the company’s website.

To its credit, The New York Times hasn’t crammed the page with ads or a subscription service, and like us, many people still make Wordle a part of their daily routine.

Wordle‘s place at the top of the charts comes against some very stiff and random competition, as you can see from the full Top 10.

 • 1) Wordle
 • 2) Election results
 • 3) Betty White
 • 4) Queen Elizabeth
 • 5) Bob Saget
 • 6) Ukraine
 • 7) Mega Millions
 • 8) Powerball numbers
 • 9) Anne Heche
 • 10) Jeffrey Dahmer

“Election results” and lottery numbers aren’t surprising, though we’re surprised that The Golden Girls‘ Betty White managed to squeeze out Queen Elizabeth II for the number three spot. Departed celebrities Bob Saget and Anne Heche also made the list, with notoriously grisly serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer coming in at number 10 as a result of the hugely popular Netflix drama.

Though Wordle‘s popularity has diminished somewhat it’s still played by millions of people daily. The game has also had an impact on the searches for word definitions, with people looking up solutions like cacao, homer, canny, foray, trove, saute and tacit to find out what they mean.

So roll on Wordle, like millions of others it’s become a firm part of our daily commute.

How Moviedle is more than just a Wordle clone 1h3l3x and creator Jeremy Toeman’s new partnership with Likewise TV https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/news/moviedle-more-than-just-a-wordle-clone-and-creator-jeremy-toeman-likewise-tv/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/news/moviedle-more-than-just-a-wordle-clone-and-creator-jeremy-toeman-likewise-tv/#respond <![CDATA[Parker Whitmore]]> Thu, 11 Aug 2022 17:46:30 +0000 <![CDATA[Gaming]]> <![CDATA[Movies]]> <![CDATA[Netflix]]> <![CDATA[News]]> <![CDATA[TV]]> <![CDATA[gaming previews]]> <![CDATA[Moviedle]]> <![CDATA[Wordle]]> https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1272374 <![CDATA[
We sat down with game developer Jeremy Toeman in an exclusive, to talk about the future of "microgames" and beyond.]]>
<![CDATA[

AugX Labs and 12:01 Games founder Jeremy Toeman believes that at the end of the day, great gaming experiences are born from one simple idea; to spread joy. That thesis has carried Toeman and company to new heights, and with millions of active s around the world — 12:01 Games continues to push the boundaries of conventional gaming experiences everywhere.

We Got This Covered sat down with Toeman in April to discuss the overnight success of his Wordle-inspired guessing game, Moviedle, and what came next for the fledgling publisher. Well, the time has come, as the minds behind Moviedle have partnered with the entertainment hub Likewise, as12:01 Games looks to bring their own personal touch to the recommendation service and beyond.

“Every time you play (our games), you just get a little happier,” Toeman echoed at the start of our exclusive interview. And after hearing more about the Bill Gates-backed media app Likewise TV, 12:01’s partnership with the startup seems to be a true match made in heaven.

The way Likewise works is simple; by using predictive artificial intelligence and an enthusiastic network of s and developers, Likewise is able to share streaming recommendations for your unique tastes — giving personalized TV, movie, book, and podcast suggestions every single day.

Yet, it’s not just recommendations. Likewise is also about facilitating discussion, which is why they allow their s to interact and help each other find new pieces of entertainment. The only problem is, what happens once you’ve found that bingeable hit show? What keeps s on the app until they come back for more content? That’s where Toeman and 12:01 Games come in.

“They (Likewise) decided to build something which they now call the Likewise Arcade. And the basic idea is to turn these games into discovery,” Toeman says. He goes on to add, “Because their platform is so smart, you can start exploring, so you can find new movies, books, and podcasts based on your gaming preferences.”

The symbiotic relationship between the companies has seemingly paid off, with s flocking to Likewise constantly to get their gaming fix. These “microgames,” as Toeman calls them, are meant to be non-invasive bite-sized bits of fun. Daily puzzles to solve that don’t get in the way of your schedule and make for a brief moment of enjoyment.

“You play these games in a minute and then go about your day, right? We’ve always talked about how many millions of minutes of joy we’re creating every month, and if we use that to measure our performance — then it’s a success.”

Since launching Moviedle, 12:01 Games has added two other daily puzzles to their lineup that have grown exponentially.

The first is a highly popular image guessing game called Posterdle, where players are tasked with guessing a movie based on the pixelated photo of its poster. As time runs out, the poster becomes more clear, forcing you to test how quickly you can name that movie.

Posterdle is as addicting as it is unique and has become one of Likewise and 12:01’s most played games of the year. The other, a spin off of Posterdle, is explicitly geared toward Netflix titles. Nflxdle runs exactly the same way, where the Netflix posters get clearer as players guess. If this seems daunting, never fear; Toeman has assured us that it’s easier than it looks.

“If you like movies, you probably have Netflix. It’s still the number one streaming platform in the world, and I’m constantly surprised with how many Nflxdle games I win just from having scrolled through Netflix in the past.

When discussing the future of the microgame craze, Toeman remains optimistic. “The microgaming space is here to stay, and if I had to make a bet, I think each individual game will have a shorter lifespan than regular games,”

He went on to clarify, “If I buy a console or mobile game, I’m going to play it until I’m done. With microgames, you might only invest in them for four to six weeks, or like some players, might have a year-long streak going. I think people will go off and experiment more and find what they love.”

Labors of love seem to be what surrounds the 12:01/Likewise partnership, and Toeman couldn’t be happier. He remained fairly tight-lipped when it came to discussing the other games they have on the horizon but had this to say regarding what to expect for the future, “We have three more game styles that we’ve begun to build over the rest of the year. So we’re loving that relationship, and I think fans will see a lot more to come.”

Now AugX Labs, 12:01’s parent company, is beginning to unveil a new system that sets out to streamline the process of content creation for YouTube, TikTok, and beyond.

Although much of the information surrounding his latest project is extremely confidential, Toeman shared that their newest venture has started to wrap up Alpha testing and is quickly headed for Beta. This ambition and drive are due, in large part, to the individuals Toeman has brought together to make AugX Labs possible. “This is the best team I’ve ever put together .” He gushed, “So, we’re moving at a lightning speed.”

AugX Labs looks to take the grunt work out of video content creation, all in an effort to promote creativity and have more fun. According to Toeman, time saved in the editing room leaves space for creative decisions that otherwise couldn’t be made during some of the more arduous processes involved in filmmaking.

“We are able to see that people who make video understand how much easier the experience could be,” Toeman says. “I know we keep coming back to this, but our mission is to create joy through creators and consumers alike. Everything we’re doing is ing that idea. It has to.”

It’s quite clear that Jeremy Toeman and the folks at AugX Labs look to have a truly positive impact on the entertainment industry through their innovative technologies. And, it seems the creation of 12:01 Games is just the start of that driving goal. All we can do now is wait and see what the future has in store for the developer and all their wild creations.

When asked if he felt like the Willy Wonka of microgames, Toeman left us wholesomely with this, “Maybe, but…I can’t do the somersault like he can.”

Sorry Apple Music fans 1k6427 Spotify just acquired Heardle https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/gaming/heardle-spotify/ https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/gaming/heardle-spotify/#respond <![CDATA[Julian Rizzo-Smith]]> Wed, 13 Jul 2022 02:46:18 +0000 <![CDATA[Gaming]]> <![CDATA[News]]> <![CDATA[Heardle]]> <![CDATA[Spotify]]> <![CDATA[Wordle]]> https://wegotthiscovered.play1002.com/?p=1251772 <![CDATA[
The game will now play the full version of a song from Spotify.]]>
<![CDATA[

Spotify has acquired Heardle, the music trivia version of Wordle. Sorry to the Apple Music girlies in the chat.

The free-to-play game will be first available in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand before expanding it to other parts of the world where English isn’t the primary language spoken.

As of today, you can listen to the full song you’re trying to guess on Spotify after the game. The team at Spotify said in a statement on Tuesday they plan to integrate Heardle further into the Spotify app so you can connect with artist and challenge friends.

Spotify’s Global Head of Music Jeremy Erlich said in the statement the company was “always looking for innovative and playful ways to enhance music discovery”.

“We are always looking for innovative and playful ways to enhance music discovery and help artists reach new fans. Heardle has proven to be a really fun way to connect millions of fans with songs they know and love and with new songs… and a way to compete with their friends as to who has the best musical knowledge. Since its debut, the game has quickly built a loyal following, and it aligns with our plans to deepen interactivity across the Spotify ecosystem.”

Heardle plays out similarly to Wordle: you hear a snippet of a song and are given six tries to guess it. Your clues get longer and easier to decipher as you make more guesses.

The New York Times acquired Wordle in January this year. At this point, we wouldn’t be surprised if a major video game publisher acquired the Heardle for video game soundtracks next too.

Warning: This article will have spoilers for today’s Wordle

Wordle is already a challenge for those who played the popular word puzzle game. And while people try to solve it on their own, there are some who like to look for help whether it is online or by talking to people they know who may have already solved it. But today is different as players have reported that there are two different answers to the latest Wordle puzzle.

Spoiler ahead.

Over on Twitter, players are busy sharing their experience solving today’s Wordle puzzle, with some saying that the game was better before the New York Times bought it from its creator.

https://twitter.com/mat_keech/status/1523446275299225600?s=20&t=IeQDNTpQK6RmdFU62p_NaA

Wordle has swiftly become a tradition of sorts in households. So, imagine the surprise when two people in a house, trying to solve the same puzzle, found themselves staring at completely different answers?

https://twitter.com/conoranalysis/status/1523440323284078592?s=20&t=IeQDNTpQK6RmdFU62p_NaA

This isn’t the only reason why players are outraged as this isn’t the first time that Wordle had two different answers. The other reason why players are mad is what the other answer was. Let’s just say it ties into ongoing political protests happening in the USA and Wordle players aren’t exactly happy with its inclusion as the answer.

The New York Times released a statement about this situation, directing players to refresh their browser and assured that Wordle remains separate from the news.

“Today, for example, some s may see an outdated answer that seems closely connected to a major recent news event. This is entirely unintentional and a coincidence — today’s original answer was loaded into Wordle last year.

At New York Times Games, we take our role seriously as a place to entertain and escape, and we want Wordle to remain distinct from the news.”

Wordle is a popular word game created by Josh Wardle in 2021 and is now owned by The New York Times. The goal of a player in the game is to guess the five-letter word in under six turns while it gives clues to whether you got the letter right or wrong. Wordle‘s tasted a major rise in popularity in early 2022 and has spawned multiple clone games and alternatives similar to the original word puzzle game.

<![CDATA[

Wordle was the first daily word game to become a global sensation, and since its runaway success, there have been plenty of variants and other games with similar mechanics. One of these such games is Knotwords.

Endorsed by Wordle creator Josh Wardle, Knotwords has similarities to the aforementioned daily word puzzle but also brings its own unique style with new challenges for players each day.

If you’ve been addicted to Wordle then why not add Knotwords into your daily routine? Before you do, here’s everything you need to know about the latest daily word fix.

Created by Zach Gage and Jack Schlesinger, Knotwords is at its core a crossword game with a Scrabble-like twist. In this mobile game, you’ll use specific letters to form words and solve the crossword puzzle.

As you start solving the puzzle, things will progressively get easier as you put letters in the right places and begin to form words. These in turn will continue assisting you with forming more words until the puzzle is complete.

You’ll know whether the word you’ve entered is correct or not as incorrect answers will be highlighted with pink marker.

Like Wordle, each day you’ll get a new Knotwords puzzle to test your mind with. These puzzles can be played from the Daily Classic menu option, but there is also a monthly puzzle book with 10 different options for free players and 50 for .

You can relax, there aren't too many five letter words starting with OX so solving your Wordle puzzle should come easy.]]>
<![CDATA[

Getting a single letter in your first Wordle guess is quite the challenge, but getting two is even more difficult and if you’re here you’re likely in this position.

Having both the starting letters to the solution already weeds out a ton of wrong answers, but when those letters include X things get even easier as there aren’t too many words that include the letter X at the beginning.

If you’ve got two letters and still guesses remaining then your chance of solving the Worlde puzzle is great and by taking a look at all the possible options you can more easily find the remaining letters and ultimately a solution. Below we’ve detailed all of the options you may want to consider.

5 letter words starting with OX 6s3j2p

Fortunately, you’ve lucked out on this puzzle as there are only a few five-letter words that begin with OX. Using this list you’ll be able to see all the possible options and work to determine which is the correct solution.

A great idea would be to seek out the final letter in the word as once you’ve got this piecing together the remaining two only get easier. Here is a look at all the possible solutions.

 • Oxbow
 • Oxeye
 • Oxhey
 • Oxids
 • Oxims
 • Oxlip
 • Oxers
 • Oxfam
 • Oxide
 • Oxime
 • Oxley
 • Oxter

While there might be fewer possibilities than usual, there is no shame in failing to get the Wordle of the day. Thankfully, you’ll get a chance at redemption and to test your mind once again tomorrow when a new word is selected.

Meet 'Videogame Heardle,' the Heardle clone dedicated to gamers where players are asked to guess video game soundtracks.]]>
<![CDATA[

The arrival of Wordle clones continues as another version of the game has been created — Videogame Heardle, a new type of the Heardle game, which is a sound-based version of Wordle.

For those who don’t know the rules of Heardle, your goal is to guess the song in under six attempts. When you start the game, you are given one second of the song’s intro. Whenever you make a wrong guess or skip a turn, extra few seconds will be added to your clue. Up to 16 seconds of a song will be given to the player to guess the correct answer.

What makes Videogame Heardle different from its predecessor is that it is focused only on video game soundtracks. Not only that but you are also given only a total of 9 seconds of the intro to guess the song rather than 16, which definitely makes this version tougher. As shared by the game’s creator, Twitter @g0m, their game currently has 89 songs in its database and is still being updated.

So, if you consider yourself as someone more inclined to listen to video game soundtracks than songs that are on the Billboard charts, maybe this game is for you.

Since the game’s release, fans have started sharing their results on social media. Some are excited to show off their video game knowledge by recognizing familiar soundtracks.

Some are not happy with the difficulty level of the game and are finding the puzzles to easy to solve.

Wordle is a popular online puzzle game that was created by Josh Wardle. The game rose in popularity in early 2022 and was later bought by The New York Times for an “undisclosed price of seven figures.”

Since Wordle’s boom in popularity, multiple Wordle clones and inspired spin-offs have been released, each of them having different quirks and variations that make them unique.

In an exclusive interview with We Got This Covered, Moviedle creator Jeremy Toeman created a game for movie fans to test their knowledge. ]]>
<![CDATA[

Moviedle is about having a good time, or at least it should be, according to Jeremy Toeman, founder of video tech company AugX Labs and creator of the new game for cinephiles.

Toeman, in an exclusive interview with We Got This Covered following Moviedle’s March 24 release and the game’s subsequent rise in popularity, addressed how, amongst the many Wordle-inspired games out there, a game like Moviedle could separate itself from the crowd. However, Toeman is adamant that his creation houses a personality unlike anything seen in the industry to date, and it’s clear why.

“Moviedle doesn’t have to be the hardest game. It just has to be fun,” Toeman says. Developed as a side project by the team at AugX for friends and family, Moviedle has steadily grown from its humble beginnings into a game played around the world.

That growth is due, in large part, to the ion of Toeman and his team, and his enthusiasm is ever-present. He jokingly its, “First of all, I’m a movie nerd and a game nerd. And when I say game nerd, it’s not just video games. I like board, card, and word games too. I mean … my favorite game is Boggle.”

Made by movie fans for movie fans, here’s how Moviedle works: An entire film is compressed into a one-second clip, and then played out in the blink of an eye. It is then up to you to guess the movie, which may seem daunting at first, but if you don’t get it right after the initial clip, never fear. Players are given a two-second version, then three, all the way up to a six-second clip.

“You keep it challenging, but fun at the same time,” Toeman says, looking to make sure no one feels alienated. “My goal for Moviedle is that everybody can get it within six tries. If you’re a movie buff and you can get them all in one try, cool. But if you’ve never seen this movie before the six-second clip, hopefully there’s enough information to get you there.”

Built in less than two weeks, Toeman and his team went through many phases before finally landing on the finished Moviedle product. What started as a movie-guessing game without context morphed into an actor-prediction puzzle in which s would guess an actor or actress and see what films they had been in, and finally settled into a specific-movie-guessing game.

Sound confusing? Toeman thought so, too, and for good reason. “Basically nothing worked, was the short and long of it,” he its. He decided to retire his many ideas until inspiration suddenly came to him out of the blue.

Laughing, Toeman re the monumental occasion. “It was like a shower moment,” he explains, adding, “I’m pretty sure I was brushing my teeth.” Thank goodness for dental hygiene, because what Toeman thought up in his bathroom is the published game people can now enjoy.

Before releasing it, though, Moviedle needed to be tested. During that crucial stage, Toeman found that many people were guessing the movie within a few tries. Afraid of making the game too easy, he tried to step back to the drawing board, but his team stopped him.

“Everyone said, Jeremy, if I actually get it right on the first guess every time, I would still play this like a man every day. Because it’s fun to do. It’s just plain fun.”

And there’s no question about that. With its unique sensibility and style, Moviedle is as addictive as it is engaging — evinced by the game jumping from 1,000 to over 100,000 daily players in a single week’s time.

That player response is what hooked Toeman, who went on to explain, “They kept asking one more question, which was, when are you gonna have more movies for me to try? And that was kind of the clincher.” After the game’s official launch, fans have continued to express their love for playing Moviedle and Toeman has been on cloud nine ever since.

Even amongst some of the negative criticisms of the game, the minds behind Moviedle are undaunted. “You know, I’m seeing comments, ‘It’s too easy.’ I’ve seen comments of people wishing they knew more of these movies,” Toeman says. He understands the game isn’t for everyone, and is okay with that. “One person said it’s the most idiotic thing they’ve ever seen in their entire life,” he mentioned, humorously adding, “So you know, I’ve got that going for me.”

That underlying playfulness goes further than just a ing comment. When asked if some sort of algorithm randomly generates the movies each day, Toeman quickly responded, “I’m picking. I basically preload 100 days of movies. We built [the algorithm] for some other reasons. It’s used for rendering, but not with the selection. The selector is none other than yours truly.”

Toeman’s internal algorithm, he explains, is trying to make sure that every decade of cinema is represented over the course of any given week. That attention to detail and fun-loving attitude is directly reflected in everything Moviedle represents. Every day, a movie is chosen carefully, not by some ethereal robot on a dark server, but by a person with a ion for storytelling.

Look no further than the Moviedle website to find that human element at its most profound. Whether it’s the special thanks tab, acknowledging the friends of AugX, or those who helped with Moviedle’s development, or a simple notification after each correct guess prompting players to go find the daily movie on streaming, one thing is clear: connection is key.

The team behind Moviedle is still looking to evolve the game for its player base, and each week, brings new updates and additions. The calendar feature, through which someone who skipped previous days can go back and play what they missed at their leisure, is an example of an inspired idea that can keep fans hooked for years to come.

You can share your results with friends, research movies, discover new ones, and immediately the social element is undeniable.

“We love movies,” Toeman emphasized. “We want you to see these movies.”

Teasing the future, Toeman remained fairly tight-lipped. “We’re going to be adding more to the game. We have a few other ideas, including a hard mode and an insane mode, but I won’t say what that all is yet. We’re doing some final playtesting on it, but that will be fun.”

When asked what’s next for AugX Labs, Toeman’s response was even more guarded. “We’re building a technology that basically makes video creation a lot easier for a lot more people. That’s about all we’re talking about right now.”

Toeman urges fans to reach out on social media and give him movie suggestions to add to Moviedle’s list.

Toeman’s easygoing attitude suggests that the only thing that matters to him is whether or not Moviedle makes its s happy.

“As long as we’re giving something that makes people have a little extra fun in their day,” Toeman adds. “And, gosh, can’t we all use a little more fun?”

'The Suicide Squad' filmmaker James Gunn shares his hilarious Wordle fail on a word he really should've guessed.]]>
<![CDATA[

Peacemaker creator James Gunn has shared his hilarious Wordle fail. Devotees of the super-popular word game found yesterday’s (Monday, April 11) puzzle to be a particularly tricky one. But one person who really should have got the word in just a couple of guesses is Gunn, the director of last summer’s DC blockbuster The Suicide Squad. And why is that? Because the day’s Wordle answer happened to be the word “SQUAD.”

Gunn took to Twitter once the game reset on Tuesday to share his hilarious fail. “Yesterday’s [Wordle],” the filmmaker wrote, attaching a screenshot of his Monday result. “I normally don’t post these things but this is just embarrassing.” The screenshot reveals that it took Gunn a whole five turns to finally deduce the answer, even though he correctly guessed the first four letters within three goes.

Though many Wordle players might find Gunn’s results familiar, it’s ironic that it took him so long to think of the right word considering that he’s been living in the Suicide Squad universe for so long. After directing the Task Force X sequel, Gunn then helmed the spinoff series Peacemaker, featuring John Cena reprising his role as Christopher Smith from TSS.

To be fair to Gunn, however, he is currently back with Marvel shooting Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special), so his mind isn’t in a DC headspace right now. That said, he will be returning to the Distinguished Competition soon, as a second season of Peacemaker is on its way to HBO Max. Not to mention a further Suicide Squad spinoff that we know almost nothing about yet, apart from the fact that it will be less of a comedy.

Hopefully, one of these days the Wordle answer will be “GUARD”, just to troll James Gunn some more.

There two different solutions to today's Wordle, and Game Twitter is predictably pissed.]]>
<![CDATA[

Question: What’s a five letter word for the way fans of Wordle feel the New York Times has treated them since buying the popular guessing game in January?

Answer: MESSY.

The Times has faced several controversies from fans of the viral guessing game. Considering that Paul Dano said that The Riddler, the villain he played in box office hit The Batman, most likely plays Wordle every day, it’s easy to understand that when it comes to their daily fix, Wordle addicts’ tempers ran hot on Twitter:

https://twitter.com/ShaunaHonrada/status/1509167029055463428

Reports that the so-called Paper of Record was taking Wordle clones off the Apple apps store were met with widespread indignation. Even more damning, to the word nerds who made the guessing game an immediate international sensation, were accusations that the Times made changes to make the game harder. While those allegations proved groundless – it turns out the changes were made to make the game easier – the Times caused an uproar among Wordle fanatics today when there appear to be two solutions to the game.

And not only are there two solutions, they apparently don’t share letters in common. The last time the Times published a Wordle with two solutions, it reflected changes to make the game easier, with “AROMA” replacing the original solution, “AGORA.” At the time, the change made headlines among competing news organizations, who were undoubtedly happy to embarrass the paper known as “The Grey Lady.”

Spoiler alert: Please note that clicking on the following link will lead to both solutions to today’s Wordle game.

In an email to Mashable, New York Times director of communication Jordan Cohen confirmed that the duo-lingo-imbroglio was intentional on their part, as it was once again the result of changing the solution to a word less obscure to American readers.

Twitter reactions were predictably furious:

https://twitter.com/steppphh__/status/1509230829481852930

The Times can’t be surprised that this move has caused controversy; as WGTC previously reported, fans of their other word games, like The Spelling Bee, are ionately devoted to their pasttimes.
