Owen Wilson echoing Cobie Smulders’ ‘Secret Invasion’ comments has us very scared for ‘Loki’ season 2

As if worrying about how Marvel plans to deal with its Kang problem wasn't enough.

As Secret Invasion was released on Disney Plus has left us worried… no, scratch that… terrified about the God of Mischief’s return to our screens.

Back in 2022, when Marvel was doing what it is currently doing for Loki season two — interviewing Secret Invasion’s star cast, which initially boasted Cobie Smulders as a part of its main cast. At the time, the actress spoke at length about how the series allowed her to explore Maria Hill in “more depth than I’ve been able to show” and how the show’s many characters would “really get backstories.”

Apparently, she unknowingly switched “depth” with “death,” as after getting some time in the spotlight in the first episode, she is shot to death by Gravik while Nick Fury looks on helplessly.

Yep, the MCU brought her back, made promises of giving her a nice, rich story, and then bam! She was “lying on the cold, hard ground, Oh, oh, trouble, trouble, trouble…” Oops, sorry, my inner Swiftie took over for a second.

Anyway, Smulders’ premature praise for the show isn’t limited to just her character. Talos barely made it to episode four before being killed (and a complete 360-degree twist).

This is what has us worried about Loki season two.

In a new interview, Owen Wilson, who played the lovable Mobius in the last season, has chatted about having a great time filming the second season, just like he did the first. And the biggest credit for his continued enthusiasm for the character goes to the “fact” that Mobius’ story “just goes deeper” in the series with the new installment. Uh-huh, yeah, right.

The first season was good, but since then, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Thor: Love and Thunder, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and, well, Secret Invasion came. I’m sorry; I’m having trouble believing Marvel is simply not planning to just kill Mobius in Loki, seeing that it has been drunkenly bumping about in the halls of a forgotten thing called compelling, creative storylines.

You better not do it before Mobius finally gets on a jet ski, Marvel!

Loki season two is set to debut on Oct. 6, 2023.
