‘Secret Invasion’s latest big twist cannot be trusted, and here’s the proof

Appearances can be deceiving. Especially when it comes to Skrulls.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Secret Invasion episode three.

Death is rarely the end in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and even a show as gritty as the already much-missed Maria Hill, folks are nonetheless heartbroken over their apparent demise.

Yes, I’m obviously referring to Emilia Clarke’s G’iah, with Talos’ redeemed turncoat daughter having her double agent status exposed by Gravik before the evil Skrull leader killed her with a single shot to the chest. While the lingering shot of an unconscious, bloodied G’iah was not exactly encouraging, Disney appears to have already accidentally given the game away that her fate is not as it appears.

As Twitter @HailEternal made a point of sharing, in order to calm people down, the below screenshot from the promos has yet to feature in the series itself. Therefore we’ve definitely got more of Clarke on the way this season.

By the looks of things, this scene depicts G’iah and I’m guessing Priscilla Fury/Varra teaming up. The two characters have not shared any screentime together in the show’s first three episodes so clearly we’ve got an interesting new duo to look forward to over the coming three weeks. All right, this could technically be a flashback, revealing that G’iah and Priscilla have secretly been working together all along, but… Come on, would Marvel really hire Emilia Clarke just to kill her off halfway through the show? Well, OK, they did the exact same thing to Sigourney Weaver in The Defenders, but they wouldn’t do it twice, right?

Secret Invasion airs new episodes Wednesdays on Disney Plus.
